Spectral domain polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography (SDPS-OCT) is a depth-resolved polarization-sensitive interferometry which integrates polarization optics into spectral domain optical co- herence tomography (SD-OCT). This configuration can obtain birefringence information of samples and improve the imaging speed. In this paper, horizontally polarized light is used to replace natural light of the source. Then, right-rotated circularly polarized light is the incident sample light. To obtain two orthogonal components of the polarized interferogram, the reflected light of the reference arm is set to be 45° linearly polarized light. These two components are acquired by two spectrometers synchronously. The system was employed to achieve 12.8μm axial resolution and 4.36μm transverse resolution. We have imaged in vitro chicken tendon and muscle tissues with these svstem.  相似文献

We present a rate equation model to explain and simulate the steady state response of optical feedback in orthogonally polarized microchip Nd:YAG lasers, which is observed in our experiment: When the external-cavity length is tuned, the two orthogonal polarization states perform an opposite-phase power modulation. With the increase of feedback light intensity, the power modulation of each orthogonal polarization state will present an amplitude increase, and finally become a polarization-state hopping; when the frequency difference of the two orthogonal polarization states is tuned, the power modulation amplitude performs a periodic variation. The theoretical analysis and numerical simulation are in good agreement with the experimental results.  相似文献

为了同时获取目标的全偏振二维图像信息和其光谱信息,设计了一种基于正交调制的偏振光谱成像系统。该系统由光学接收模块、相位调制器、Wollaston棱镜、Savart偏光镜、检偏器以及成像模块组成。其可以将原始光信号分解成两束相互正交的偏振光,并且分别成像在CCD焦平面的上下两部分上,从而构成两幅偏振图像。两组图像的叠加可以将干涉条纹的数据相互抵消,从而获得目标的纯图像信息,两组图像的相减可以将目标灰度图像相互抵消,从而获得目标的纯干涉条纹。通过理论分析与计算得到了光强分布函数和光谱变化形式。实验在稳定的光源环境中采用高对比度目标与背景板,完成了全偏振图像的实时采集。经相位校正和切趾处理改善了干涉图像的畸变,又通过去低频滤波和阈值滤波抑制了图像中背景噪声的影响,从而实现了对目标图像的提取及偏振光谱的复原。该系统具有稳定性高、光谱分辨率可调、信噪比高、可识别能力强等特点,对在复杂背景中提取目标图像、光谱及偏振态信息具有重要意义。  相似文献

We demonstrated the generation of a cylindrical vector laser beam using a pentaprism interferometer. The solid-state interferometer was made up of a trapezoid and right-angle prism, whose hypotenuse face was implemented with a polarization beam splitter coating that split a rotated TEM01 mode beam into two orthogonal polarizations. The Ppolarized beam was reflected inside the prism twice, allowing a mode pattern without inversion; however, the Spolarized beam was reflected once resulting in mode patterns that form P-polarized beams rotated by 90°. We also held the phase shift of the two beams to zero by use of a phase shifter, thus the output of the superimposed beam was a radially polarized beam. We demonstrated the mode pattern and polarization purity of the output beam through the use of this configuration.  相似文献

We demonstrate the coherent locking of two orthogonal polarized lasers by using polarization selective loss. The two orthogonal polarizations are locked coherently to produce a resultant polarization state that sees minimal cavity loss. In contrast to the Michelson locking schemes, our scheme has the advantage of easy tunability, which helps to routinely achieve near-perfect (>99%) combining efficiency even when the power of the two arms is highly imbalanced and is varied from a power ratio of unity to >5. We also demonstrate an interesting phenomenon in which a miniscule injection of an antiphase field component from one arm into another can significantly inhibit the locking mechanism.  相似文献

A simple and effective optical roll-angle sensor based on a magnetic garnet single crystal is demonstrated. The measurement is based on the principle that, when linearly polarized light whose polarization varies alternately in two orthogonal directions passes through a polarization analyzer, the transmitted optical intensity varies. The output voltage from an optical detector located after the analyzer can be used to determine the roll angle. The chief advantages of the sensor are that it is compact, flexible, low cost, and power effective and provides a fast response. Most importantly, the sensor is insensitive to various fluctuations such as optical intensity, photodiode responsivity, and temperature and to vibrations. This performance is most advantageous in long-distance or long-term measurements. Experimental results have shown that the angular resolution is 0.01 degree in a +/-30 degree range.  相似文献

利用偏振全息记录的方法在一种含偶氮侧链的液晶聚合物薄膜中写入了二维偏振光栅.实验采用两束正交偏振的532 nm线偏光作为写入光,在样品同一点上分别记录了相互垂直的两个一维偏振光栅,继而对所构成的二维偏振光栅的特性进行了研究.实验结果表明:二维光栅的衍射效率比一维光栅低,其偏振特性是两个一维光栅元特性的叠加;二维光栅衍射效率对入射光偏振态的依赖性和光栅的偏振转换性质来源于材料中线双折射和圆双折射的共同作用. 关键词: 偏振全息 二维光栅 偶氮液晶聚合物  相似文献

We have theoretically investigated polarization insensitive all-optical wavelength conversion for polarization multiplexing signal based on dual-pump four-wave mixing (FWM) in a SOA. The simulation result shows that the polarization insensitive converted signal can be separated into two lightwaves without crosstalk when one of the two orthogonal data lightwaves is parallel with one pump and the SOA should be polarization insensitive. Several conditions which affect the conversion efficiency for polarization multiplexing signal are also discussed.  相似文献

We report a polarization beam splitter that uses polarization gratings written onto a zero-twist nematic liquid-crystal display. We show three configurations. The first two separate the diffracted light into two orthogonally polarized orders that are either linearly or circularly polarized. In the third configuration, we demonstrate a novel case for which the output is separated into two nonorthonormal polarization states. One component is linearly polarized and the second is circularly polarized.  相似文献

本文提出了一种“金属栅-开口环/硅环-金属栅”结构的透射式超表面偏振控制器, 研究了入射角度和抽运光对该器件传输及偏振态控制性能的影响. 研究结果表明, 当线偏振太赫兹波垂直入射时, 可对0.39-1.11 THz频段的太赫兹波实现偏振方向90°旋转, 偏振旋转效率为99%, 损耗为1 dB. 对于斜入射的情况, 偏振转换性能在0-60°范围内基本保持不变, 且透过率达到90%以上. 同时, 通过调控抽运光强度的方式, 该器件能够实现对透射与反射太赫兹光束的强度调制, 调制深度均达到90%, 且可以实现太赫兹波偏振分束功能. 该器件可以作为未来太赫兹空间光通信和信息处理的宽带、角度不敏感、可调谐的偏振转换器和分束器.  相似文献

High-power operation of a single-mode, linearly polarized, broadband superfluorescent fiber source has been achieved by using a two-stage cladding-pumped fiber configuration comprising a low power, single-ended, ytterbium-doped superfluorescent fiber seed source and a high-power cladding-pumped, polarization-maintaining, large-mode-area, ytterbium-doped amplifier pumped by a high-power diode source at 976 nm. The source yielded a maximum linearly polarized output of 106 W with a slope efficiency of up to 67% with respect to the launched pump power and with a measured polarization extinction ratio of 13.5 dB. The wavelength spectrum of the superfluorescent source spanned the range continuously from ~1035 to 1100 nm, and the bandwidth (FWHM) of the emission spectrum was 21 nm. The minimum seed power required for an output power over 100 W was only 10 mW, corresponding to an effective power gain in the amplifier stage of 40 dB. Single-spatial-mode operation with a beam propagation factor (M(2))<1.1 was achieved by bending the amplifier fiber to a bend radius of ~8 cm, without a significant reduction in output power.  相似文献

A new type of phase-shifting interferometer was presented by rotating an azo-polymer film with photo-induced optical anisotropy in the light path of orthogonal polarization interferometry. By changing the angle of the optical axis of the azo-polymer film, four phase-shifted fringe patterns were obtained, from which phase difference between orthogonal polarized light could be calculated. The polarization states and the formation of the interferograms were analyzed theoretically using Jones matrix calculations and the experimental verification of the proposed method was also given. This method has a simple optical configuration which utilizes commercially available polarization devices and anisotropic azo-polymer film of low cost. The phase-shifting interferometer also demonstrates a new application of azo-polymer film.  相似文献

We demonstrate a polarization-invariant liquid-crystal (LC) grating in an oppositely twisted and mutually orthogonal configuration. The polarization-invariant LC grating with high diffraction efficiency is fabricated using a single-masking process with two-step exposure of a linearly polarized ultraviolet light. It is found that the zeroth- and the first-order diffracted beams are linearly polarized and perpendicular to each other irrespective of the incident polarization for the phase retardation of m pi (m=integer).  相似文献

A novel configuration is proposed for polarization insensitive wavelength conversions using a LiNbO3 waveguide with a periodically domain inverted structure. The proposed configuration consists of multiple rings, which are connected by a polarization sensitive wavelength converter such as the LiNbO3 waveguide described. One ring containing a pump light source is used to pump the wavelength converter bidirectionally, while the other rings containing a polarization beam splitter and a 90° polarization rotator are used to couple in the input signal and extract the converted light. The proposed method is proven experimentally by the wavelength conversion based on sum frequency generation.  相似文献

This paper presents a new proposal for a mutually pumped phase conjugate mirror (MPPCM) using cross polarization. In the cross polarized MPPCM, two light beams, whose polarizations are orthogonal to each other, incident on a photorefractive crystal, causing photorefractive interaction to generate phase conjugate waves with an orthogonal polarization to an incident beam. The use of Ar+ laser and BaTiO3 crystal in an experiment for the cross polarized MPPCM found that diffraction efficiency for an extraordinary beam is about 20%. As opposed to a conventional parallel polarized MPPCM in which the use of a beam splitter is required to separate a diffraction beam, the cross polarized MPPCM can efficiently extract phase conjugate waves by means of a polarized beam splitter, demonstrating the advantage of substantially improved efficiency.  相似文献

Polarized terahertz (THz) wave generation is of great significance for chiral and anisotropic sensing applications. However, how to manipulate amplitude, polarization, and ellipticity of the THz generation is still a fundamental challenge. Herein, polarized THz wave generation is achieved from a bilayer metamaterial consisting of T-shaped structure (TSS) and split resonator rings (SRRs) by combining Maxwell and hydrodynamic equations. The elliptically polarized THz wave can be synthetized directly from horizontally and vertically polarized THz components due to the orthogonal nonlinear photocurrents along the arm-directions of TSS and SRRs, respectively. Besides, the ellipticity and the orientation angle of the THz polarization ellipse can be modulated by the twist angle between the SRRs and TSS layers. The maximum ellipticity can reach 0.34 while the orientation angle is tunable from −0.45 to 0.48π by tuning the twist angle. This work proposes an interlayer coupling method for the polarized THz sources based on metamaterials in potential circular dichroism and chiral sensing applications.  相似文献

We propose a Polarization Shift Keying (POLSK) phase diversity homo-dyne system with multiplying detection in coherent optical communications. The proposed system uses only one of three Stokes parameters, which is the phase difference between two orthogonal polarizations. Although such systems using only one Stokes parameter are very sensitive to polarization fluctuation, the proposed system becomes insensitive to the linear polarization fluctuation by using the multiplying detection with a combination of in-phase and quadrature optical signal components on two orthogonal polarizations. Furthermore, insensitivity to phase noise and offset frequency and attractiveness due to homodyne type in high-speed transmissions are maintained. The most attractive feature of the proposed system is that neither a polarization controller nor electronic feedback loop for matching the state of polarization (SOP) between transmitted and local oscillator (LO) optical signals is needed. We theoretically analyze the receiver sensitivity and the power penalties of the proposed system for the cases of the elliptical SOP of received optical signals and the imbalance optical 90° hybrid.  相似文献

Linearly polarized classical light can be expressed in a vertical and a horizontal component. Geometrically rotating vertically polarized light by 90 degrees will convert it to the orthogonal horizontal polarization. We have experimentally generated a two-photon state of light which evolves into an orthogonal state upon geometrical rotation by 60 degrees. Rotating this state by an additional 60 degrees will yield a state which is mutually orthogonal to the first two states. Generalizing this procedure, one can generate N+1 mutually orthogonal N-photon states that cyclicly evolve from one to another upon a geometric rotation by 180/(N+1) degrees.  相似文献

We realize a unidirectional transmission by cascading two nonparallel gratings (NPGs) made of isotropic, lossless, and linear media. For a pair of orthogonal linear polarizations, one of the gratings is designed as a polarizer, which is a reflector for one polarization and a transmitter for the other; another grating is designed as a polarization converter, which converts most of one polarized incident wave into another polarized transmitted wave. It is demonstrated by numerical calculation that more than 85% of the incident light energy can be transmitted with less than 1% transmission in the opposite direction for linearly polarized light at normal incidence, and the relative bandwidth of the unidirectional transmission is nearly 9%. The maximum transmission contrast ratio between the two directions is 62 dB. Unlike one-way diffraction grating, the transmitted light of the NPGs is collinear with the incident light, but their polarizations are orthogonal.  相似文献

The propagation-dependent polarization vector fields are experimentally created from an isotropic microchip laser with a longitudinal-transverse coupling and entanglement of the polarization states. The experimental three-dimensional coherent vector fields are analytically reconstructed with a coherent superposition of orthogonal circularly polarized vortex modes. Each polarized component is found to comprise two Laguerre-Gaussian modes with different topological charges. With the analytical representation, the polarization singularities, on which the electric polarization ellipse is purely circular (C lines) or purely linear (L surfaces), are explored. The C line singularities are found to form an intriguing hyperboloidal structure.  相似文献
