We investigate the existence of a global classical solution to the generalized Goursat problem. Under some degenerate assumptions of boundary conditions, we prove that the solution approaches a combination of Lipschitz continuous and a piecewise C1 traveling wave solution.  相似文献

Using a method of stochastic perturbation of a Langevin system associated with the non-viscous Burgers equation we introduce a system of PDE that can be considered as a regularization of the pressureless gas dynamics describing sticky particles. By means of this regularization we describe how starting from smooth data a δ-singularity arises in the component of density. Namely, we find the asymptotics of solution at the point of the singularity formation as the parameter of stochastic perturbation tends to zero. Then we introduce a generalized solution in the sense of free particles (FP-solution) as a special limit of the solution to the regularized system. This solution corresponds to a medium consisting of non-interacting particles. The FP-solution is a bridging step to constructing solutions to the Riemann problem for the pressureless gas dynamics describing sticky particles. We analyze the difference in the behavior of discontinuous solutions for these two models and the relations between them. In our framework we obtain a unique entropy solution to the Riemann problem in 1D case.  相似文献

We study the pressureless gas equations, with piecewise constant initial data. In the immediate solution, δ-shocks and contact vacuum states arise and even meet (interact) eventually. A solution beyond the “interaction” is constructed. It shows that the δ-shock will continue with the velocity it attained instantaneously before the time of interaction, and similarly, the contact vacuum state will move past the δ-shock with a velocity value prior to the interaction. We call this the “no-effect-from-interaction” solution. We prove that this solution satisfies a family of convex entropies (in the Lax’s sense). Next, we construct an infinitely large family of weak solutions to the “interaction”. Suppose further that any of these solutions satisfy a convex entropy, it is necessary and suffcient that these solutions reduce to only the “no-effect-from-interaction” solution. In [1], Bouchut constructed another entropy satisfying solution. As with other previous papers, it is obvious that it will not be sufficient that a “correct” solution satisfies a convex entropy, in a non-strictly hyperbolic conservation laws system. Presented here is a study of a viscoelastic wave equation with supercritical source and damping terms. We employ the theory of monotone operators and nonlinear semigroups, combined with energy methods to establish the existence of a unique local weak solution. In addition, it is shown that the solution depends continuously on the initial data and is global provided the damping dominates the source in an appropriate sense.  相似文献

We study the Cauchy problems for the isentropic 2-d Euler system with discontinuous initial data along a smooth curve. All three singularities are present in the solution: shock wave, rarefaction wave and contact discontinuity. We show that the usual restrictive high order compatibility conditions for the initial data are automatically satisfied. The local existence of piecewise smooth solution containing all three waves is established.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the asymptotic stability of travelling wave solution to the two-dimensional steady isentropic irrotational flow with artificial viscosity. We prove that there exists a unique travelling wave solution up to a shift to the system if the end states satisfy both the Rankine–Hugoniot condition and Lax's shock condition, and that the travelling wave solution is stable if the initial disturbance is small.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the global existence and the asymptotic behavior of classical solution of the Cauchy problem for quasilinear hyperbolic system with constant multiple and linearly degenerate characteristic fields. We prove that the global C1 solution exists uniquely if the BV norm of the initial data is sufficiently small. Based on the existence result on the global classical solution, we show that, when the time t tends to the infinity, the solution approaches a combination of C1 traveling wave solutions. Finally, we give an application to the equation for time-like extremal surfaces in the Minkowski space-time R1+n.  相似文献

We consider the hyperbolic-parabolic singular perturbation problem for a degenerate quasilinear Kirchhoff equation with weak dissipation. This means that the coefficient of the dissipative term tends to zero when t→+∞.We prove that the hyperbolic problem has a unique global solution for suitable values of the parameters. We also prove that the solution decays to zero, as t→+∞, with the same rate of the solution of the limit problem of parabolic type.  相似文献

In this paper we focus on the initial-boundary value problem of the 2-D isentropic Euler equations with damping. We prove the global-in-time existence of classical solution to the initial-boundary value problem for small smooth initial data by the method of local existence of solution combined with a priori energy estimates, where the appropriate boundary condition plays an important role.  相似文献

In this paper we study the motion of slightly compressible inviscid fluids. We prove that the solution of the corresponding system of nonlinear partial differential equations converges (uniformly) in the strong norm (that of the data space) to the solution of the incompressible equations, as the Mach number goes to zero (see Theorem 1.2). Actually, our proof applies to a large class of singular limit problems as shown in the Theorem 2.2.  相似文献

We study here the behavior of time periodic weak solutions for the relativistic Vlasov-Maxwell boundary value problem in a three-dimensional bounded domain with strictly star-shaped boundary when the light speed becomes infinite. We prove the convergence toward a time periodic weak solution for the classical Vlasov-Poisson equations.  相似文献

We consider global solutions of a dynamical equation in ferrimagnet. We show that it admits a global weak solution by using the penalty method. By the energy estimates method we show there exists a unique global smooth solution. Finally we establish the relationship between this equation and wave maps.  相似文献

We study the Cauchy problem for a 1D nonlinear wave equation on R. The nonlinearity can depend on the unknown function and its first order spatial derivative. Using the fixed point theorem we prove the existence of a classical solution. Moreover, the existence of periodic and almost periodic solutions are shown.  相似文献

In this paper we deal with the exterior problem for a system of nonlinear wave equations in two space dimensions, assuming that the initial data is small and smooth. We establish the same type of lower bound of the lifespan for the problem as that for the Cauchy problem, despite of the weak decay property of the solution in two space dimensions.  相似文献

For Riemann data consisting of a single decreasing jump, we find that the Leray regularization captures the correct shock solution of the inviscid Burgers equation. However, for Riemann data consisting of a single increasing jump, the Leray regularization captures an unphysical shock. This behavior can be remedied by considering the behavior of the Leray regularization with initial data consisting of an arbitrary mollification of the Riemann data. As we show, for this case, the Leray regularization captures the correct rarefaction solution of the inviscid Burgers equation. Additionally, we prove the existence and uniqueness of solutions of the Leray-regularized equation for a large class of discontinuous initial data. All of our results make extensive use of a reformulation of the Leray-regularized equation in the Lagrangian reference frame. The results indicate that the regularization works by bending the characteristics of the inviscid Burgers equation and thereby preventing their finite-time crossing.  相似文献

We study the domain of existence of a solution to a Riemann problem for the pressure gradient equation in two space dimensions. The Riemann problem is the expansion of a quadrant of gas of constant state into the other three vacuum quadrants. The global existence of a smooth solution was established in Dai and Zhang [Z. Dai, T. Zhang, Existence of a global smooth solution for a degenerate Goursat problem of gas dynamics, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 155 (2000) 277-298] up to the free boundary of vacuum. We prove that the vacuum boundary is the coordinate axes.  相似文献

We present the existence of the subsonic solution to a two-dimensional Riemann problem governed by a self-similar nonlinear wave equation where the boundary of the subsonic region consists of a transonic shock and the sonic circle. Thus the governing equation becomes a free boundary problem on the transonic shock and degenerates on the sonic circle. By utilizing the barrier methods and iterative methods, we show the well-posedness of the transonic shock in the entire subsonic region and thus establish the global solution. This result does not rely on any smallness of Riemann data.  相似文献

We study the large time behavior of solutions of a one-dimensional hyperbolic relaxation system that may be written as a nonlinear damped wave equation. First, we prove the global existence of a unique solution and their decay properties for sufficiently small initial data. We also show that for some large initial data, solutions blow-up in finite time. For quadratic nonlinearities, we prove that the large time behavior of solutions is given by the fundamental solution of the viscous Burgers equation. In some other cases, the convection term is too weak and the large time behavior is given by the linear heat kernel.  相似文献
