We show that under perturbations by a rank-one typical operator, a fixed eigenvalue loses one Jordan block of maximal order, while the orders of the other Jordan blocks remain unchanged. We construct the first-order perturbation theory for the new eigenvalues and the zero-order approximations to the corresponding eigenvectors.  相似文献

We establish some estimates for the higher-order mean curvatures, the scalar curvature and the Ricci curvature of a complete spacelike hypersurface in de Sitter space which is contained in certain unbounded regions of the ambient space. Our results will be an application of a generalized maximum principle due to Omori.  相似文献

In this paper we present a general class of positive linear operators of discrete type based on q-calculus and we investigate their weighted statistical approximation properties by using a Bohman–Korovkin type theorem. We also mark out two particular cases of this general class of operators.  相似文献

Spectra and sets of regular and singular critical points of definitizable operators of the form T [*] T and TT [*] in a Krein space are compared. The relation between the Jordan chains of the above operators (corresponding to the same eigenvalue) is shown.   相似文献

The main objects of study in this article are two classes of Rankin–Selberg L-functions, namely L(s,f×g) and L(s, sym2(g)× sym2(g)), where f,g are newforms, holomorphic or of Maass type, on the upper half plane, and sym2(g) denotes the symmetric square lift of g to GL(3). We prove that in general, i.e., when these L-functions are not divisible by L-functions of quadratic characters (such divisibility happening rarely), they do not admit any LandauSiegel zeros. Such zeros, which are real and close to s=1, are highly mysterious and are not expected to occur. There are corollaries of our result, one of them being a strong lower bound for special value at s=1, which is of interest both geometrically and analytically. One also gets this way a good bound onthe norm of sym2(g).  相似文献

In this paper, we study a special perturbation of the function system obtained from the Fejér kernel. It is shown how this relates to the stability of bases and complete systems as well to the stability of the trigonometric system. An approximation algorithm in systems resulting from a perturbation of the original system is given.  相似文献

We compute in this paper the distribution of the area swept under the occupation process of an M/M/1 queue during a busy period. For this purpose, we use the expression of the Laplace transform of the random variable established in earlier studies as a fraction of Bessel functions. To get information on the poles and the residues of , we take benefit of the fact that this function can be represented by a continued fraction. We then show that this continued fraction is the even part of an S fraction and we identify its successive denominators by means of Lommel polynomials. This allows us to numerically evaluate the poles and the residues. Numerical evidence shows that the poles are very close to the numbers as . This motivated us to formulate some conjectures, which lead to the derivation of the asymptotic behaviour of the poles and the residues. This is finally used to derive the asymptotic behaviour of the probability survivor function . The outstanding property of the random variable is that the poles accumulate at 0 and its tail does not exhibit a nice exponential decay but a decay of the form for some positive constants c and , which indicates that the random variable has a Weibull-like tail. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

In this paper we complement recent work of Maischak and Stephan on adaptive hp-versions of the BEM for unilateral Signorini problems, respectively on FEM-BEM coupling in its h-version for a nonlinear transmission problem modelling Coulomb friction contact. Here we focus on the boundary element method in its p-version to treat a scalar variational inequality of the second kind that models unilateral contact and Coulomb friction in elasticity together. This leads to a nonconforming discretization scheme. In contrast to the work cited above and to a related paper of Guediri on a boundary variational inequality of the second kind modelling friction we take the quadrature error of the friction functional into account of the error analysis. At first without any regularity assumptions, we prove convergence of the BEM Galerkin approximation in the energy norm. Then under mild regularity assumptions, we establish an a priori error estimate that is based on a novel Céa–Falk lemma for abstract variational inequalities of the second kind.  相似文献

We prove that any simply connected -manifold of CR-codimension s 2 is noncompact by showing that the complete, simply connected -manifolds are all the CR products N × {s-1} with N Sasakian, endowed with a suitable product metric. N is a Sasakian -symmetric space if and only if M is CR-symmetric. The locally CR-symmetric -manifolds are characterized by
=0 where
is the Tanaka--Webster connection. This characterization is showed to be nonvalid for nonnormal almost -manifolds.Mathematics Subject Classifications (2000). 53C25, 53C35, 32V05.  相似文献
