A topological action for self-dual connections over noncompact Riemann surfaces is proposed. TheJ formulation and the associated linear system are obtained. A new connection is constructed, depending on a Kac-Moody parameter such that its flatness condition is theJ-equation associated to the self-dual problem. We derive a topological bound on R8, , wherep1 is the first Pontryagin class of the SO(n) Yang-Mills bundle, andk is a constant. The -function method for evaluating effective actions is applied to an operator containing a potential localized on two parallel planes. This operator is characterized by a continuous spectrum and broken translation invariance. In this case, the -method leads to a divergent volume factor independent of the physical parameters. In a suitable regularization scheme, only the next to leading order term reproduces a physically interesting result.  相似文献

The Krichever-Novikov (KN) global operator formalism is applied to construct a topological conformal field theory on a compact Riemann surface from an N=2 super-conformal field theory. The topological version of the KN algebra is derived and the BRST charge is shown to be genus-dependent in this formulation. This leads to an interesting cohomology structure for the physical subspace of the Hilbert space.  相似文献

We present fermionic sum representations of the characters , s (p, p) of the minimal M(p,p) models for all relatively prime integers p>p for some allowed values of r and s. Our starting point is biomial (q-binomial) identities derived from a truncation of the state counting equations of the XXZ spin 1/2 chain of anisotropy –=–cos((p/p)). We use the Takahashi-Suzuki method to express the allowed values of r (and s) in terms of the continued fraction decomposition of {p/p} (and p/p), where {x} stands for the fractional part of x. These values are, in fact, the dimensions of the Hermitian irreducible representations of SU q- (2) (and SU q+ (2)) with q–=exp(i{p/p}) (and q+=exp(i(p/p))). We also establish the duality relation M(p,p) M(p–p,p) and discuss the action of the Andrews-Bailey transformation in the space of minimal models. LetP M be a principalG-bundle. We construct well-defined analogs of Lebesgue measure on the spaceA of connections onP and Haar measure on the groupG of gauge transformations. More precisely, we define algebras of cylinder functions on the spacesA,G, andA/G, and define generalized measures on these spaces as continuous linear functionals on the corresponding algebras. Borrowing some ideas from lattice gauge theory, we characterize generalized measures onA,G, andA/G in terms of graphs embedded inM. We use this characterization to construct generalized measures onA andG whenG is compact. The uniform generalized measure onA is invariant under the group of automorphisms ofP. It projects down to the generalized measure onA/G considered by Ashtekar and Lewandowski in the caseG = SU(n). The generalized Haar measure onG is right- and left-invariant as well as Aut(P)-invariant. We show that averaging any generalized measure onA against generalized Haar measure gives aG-invariant generalized measure onA.  相似文献

A recent result by Borchers connecting geometric modular action, modular inclusion and spectrum condition, is applied in quantum field theory on spacetimes with a bifurcate Killing horizon (these are generalizations of black-hole spacetimes, comprising the familiar black-hole spacetime models). We propose a general formulation of simplicial lattice gauge theory inspired by the finite element method. Numerical tests of convergence towards continuum results are performed for several SU(2) gauge fields. We consider analytic properties of a class of dynamical systems which are defined by the action of certain homomorphism groups on von Neumann algebras if restricted to subalgebras. In particular, the analyticity of nuclear maps in the nuclear norm is shown. Furthermore, the statistical independence will be derived from nuclearity conditions.
