Silver nanoparticles were prepared in situ using sunlight and cationic surfactants. Silver nano-particles were confirmed using UV–vis spectrophotometry, transmission electron microscopy(TEM), electron diffraction, dynamic light scattering(DLS) and FTIR. Increasing the hydrophobic chain length of surfactants increase the amount of silver nano-particles formed in addition to increasing their stability.The results showed formed, uniform, well arranged hexagonal and spherical shapes. The prepared silver nanoparticles exhibit enhanced biological activity against Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria and sulfate reducing bacteria(SRB).  相似文献

In the present work, the self-assembling of some synthesized thiol surfactants namely (6-(3-amino phenoxy) hexane-1-thiol, 8-(3-amino phenoxy) octane-1-thiol, 10-(3-amino phenoxy) decane-1-thiol, 12-(3-amino phenoxy) dodecane-1-thiol, and their polymers on silver nanoparticles was investigated. The self-assembling of these surfactants on silver nanoparticles was characterized using different techniques such as ultraviolet (UV) spectroscopy, powder x-ray diffraction (XRD), electrone diffraction (ED), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The effect of the self-assembling of these surfactants on the stabilization of the silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was studied using TEM images. The growth of the silver nanoparticles was investigated with respect to the increase of alkyl chain in the synthesized thiol surfactants. The effect of silver nanoparticles on the surface, interfacial tension, and the emulsion stability of these surfactants with paraffin oil was studied. The results show that the silver nanoparticles have the ability to effect on the behavior of these surfactants in solution and improve their surface activity.  相似文献

Three hierarchical porous zeolites (H‐*BEA, H‐MTW, and H‐*MRE) were successfully synthesized with the assistance of designed cationic surfactants under hydrothermal synthesis conditions. The as‐synthesized zeolite samples can be easily regulated by changing the number of long hydrophobic n ‐alkyl chains. Also, we investigated the relationship between the length of the surfactant and the formation of the microporous structure of the zeolite. Furthermore, the alkylation of benzene with propene was performed as a probe reaction to evaluate the catalytic performance of the synthesized hierarchical zeolites. The resulting materials were characterized by using a complementary combination of techniques, that is, X‐ray powder diffraction, N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform IR spectroscopy, 28Si and 27Al MAS NMR spectroscopies, thermogravimetric analysis, and computer simulation. These analysis results indicated that quaternary ammonium surfactants acted as organic structure‐directing agents (OSDAs) in the formation of these hierarchical zeolite samples, whether the surfactant had long hydrophobic tail groups or not. The simulation results indicated that the organic molecules with no long hydrophobic chain could lead to the synthesis of zeolite through charge control, and the hydrophobic molecules with long hydrophobic chains could form zeolites through orbital control. These hierarchical zeolites showed improved catalytic activity towards the industrially relevant alkylation of benzene with propene compared with conventional zeolites with the same frameworks. More importantly, the success of using quaternary ammonium surfactants with no hydrophobic n ‐alkyl tail group in the synthesis of hierarchically structured mesoporous zeolites provides a new pathway for the synthesis of hierarchical porous materials by a soft‐templating method.  相似文献

We demonstrate the phase transfer of silver nanoparticles synthesized in an aqueous medium into hexane containing the cationic surfactant octadecylamine (ODA). During vigorous shaking of the biphasic mixture, rapid phase transfer of the silver nanoparticles into the organic phase was observed. The phase transfer of the silver nanoparticles arises due to coupling of the silver nanoparticles with the ODA molecules present in organic phase via either coordination bond formation or weak covalent interaction. This process renders the nanoparticles sufficiently hydrophobic and dispersible in the organic phase. The ODA-stabilized silver nanoparticles could be separated out from the organic phase in the form of a powder and are readily redispersible in different organic solvents. The nature of binding of the ODA molecules to the silver nanoparticle surface was characterized using UV-vis spectroscopy, thermogravimetry, transmission electron microscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, X-ray photoemission spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.  相似文献

Biosynthesis of metallic silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) has gained much interest and offers an attractive alternate to physical and chemical approaches. In recent year several safe, easy, cost-effective, reproducible, and environmentally friendly synthesis approaches for silver nanoparticles have been developed. In this research work, a simple, cheap, and unexplored method was applied on green synthesis of AgNPs using secondary metabolites extracted from Bixa orellana seeds. The seeds are rich of flavonoids and phenolic compounds which presumably responsible for the fast reduction and stabilization of silver ion into silver nanoparticles. The biosynthesis process is very likely to be able to reduce silver ions under simple physiological conditions. The surface plasmon resonance (SPR) that was appeared at 420 nm in UV–vis spectrum, had confirmed the formation of AgNPs. Moreover, the functional groups in secondary metabolite that act as reducing, capping and stabilizing agents for silver nanoparticles, are identified by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra. An X-ray diffraction analysis generated four peaks for Bixa orellana seed extract mediated AgNPs positioned at 2θ angles of 38.1°, 44.2°, 64.6°, and 77.5° corresponding to crystal planes (1 1 1), (2 0 0), (2 2 0), and (3 1 1). Field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images confirmed the formation of nanosized silver particles. The z-average of the synthesized particles measured by dynamic light scattering (DLS) was found to be 92.9 nm. AgNPs synthesized exhibited remarkable antioxidant activity, antibacterial and antiproliferative activity against human breast (MCF-7) cell line. On the basis of our results, we conclude that biologically synthesized AgNPs exhibited favorable characteristics and have the potential to be used in biomedical fields.  相似文献

The interaction between silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) of different surface charge and surfactants relevant to the laundry cycle has been investigated to understand changes in speciation, both in and during transport from the washing machine. Ag NPs were synthesized to exhibit either a positive or a negative surface charge in solution conditions relevant for the laundry cycle (pH 10 and pH 7). These particles were characterized in terms of size and surface charge and compared to commercially laser ablated Ag NPs. The surfactants included anionic sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (LAS), cationic dodecyltrimethylammoniumchloride (DTAC) and nonionic Berol 266 (Berol). Surfactant-Ag NP interactions were studied by means of dynamic light scattering, Raman spectroscopy, zeta potential, and Quartz Crystal Microbalance. Mixed bilayers of CTAB and LAS were formed through a co-operative adsorption process on positively charged Ag NPs with pre-adsorbed CTAB, resulting in charge reversal from positive to negative zeta potentials. Adsorption of DTAC on negatively charged synthesized Ag NPs and negatively charged commercial Ag NPs resulted in bilayer formation and charge reversal. Weak interactions were observed for nonionic Berol with all Ag NPs via hydrophobic interactions, which resulted in decreased zeta potentials for Berol concentrations above its critical micelle concentration. Differences in particle size were essentially not affected by surfactant adsorption, as the surfactant layer thicknesses did not exceed more than a few nanometers. The surfactant interaction with the Ag NP surface was shown to be reversible, an observation of particular importance for hazard and environmental risk assessments.  相似文献

Dillenia indica L. is a traditional medicinal plant well known for its ability to cure various human diseases. In the current study, silver nanoparticles have been synthesized by simple and eco-friendly method using Dillenia indica extract. The green synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), UV–visible spectroscopy, Atomic force microscopy (AFM), High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), Zeta Potential and Size Distribution. UV–visible and FTIR spectra, AFM, HR-TEM and Zeta Potential readings and size distribution conformed that the synthesized silver particles were in the size of nano. The green synthesized silver nanoparticles were subjected for antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria Enterococcus faecalis and Gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli by agar well diffusion method. The synthesized AgNPs exhibited significant inhibition of 27 and 16 mm against the test bacteria at 0.25 mg/ml. Further the antibacterial activity was confirmed by live and dead cell assay by fluorescence microscopy and morphological changes of bacteria were studied by Scanning electron microscope (SEM). The study recommends that the synthesized silver nanoparticles using Dillenia indica extract have potential application in inhibition of bacteria owing to their potent antibacterial activity.  相似文献

Synthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were characterized with different techniques such as UV–vis spectroscopy, Fourier transforms infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDAX) and electrochemical method. Photocatalytic and anti-bacterial activities of synthesized AgNPs are evaluated based on the obtained result showed an efficient inhibition growth for gram negative P. Aeruginosa, E. Coli, and gram positive bacteria S.aureus. The AgNPs exhibited an excellent photocatalytic activity toward the degradation of methylene blue both indoor and outdoor, under sunlight, an efficiency of 95% was achieved. Biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was achieved by a novel, simple green chemistry procedure using citrus sinensis peel extract as a reducing and a capping agent. The effect of temperature on the synthesis of silver nanoparticles was carried out at room temperature (25°C) and 60°C. The successful formation of silver nanoparticles has been confirmed by UV-vis, FTIR, XRD, EDAX, FESEM and TEM analysis and their antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa (gram-negative), and Staphylococcus aureus (gram-positive) has been studied. The results suggest that the synthesized AgNPs act as an effective antibacterial agent.  相似文献

A versatile green and nontoxic begin method for bio-reduction of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using latex extract of Ipomea carnea was reported. Different instrumental tools were applied to evaluate the formation of AgNPs, as an example UV–Visible spectroscopy (UV–Vis), Fourier transform infra-red (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). The absorption peak of AgNPs obtained at around 413 nm. FTIR study confirmed that the bio-capping components present in latex extract served as reducing and stabilizing agent. The findings of XRD, SEM and HR-TEM images revealed that the formation of crystalline and spherical shape nanoparticles and showed well size distribution with mean size 9.8±0.27 nm. Additionally, the green fabricated AgNPs exhibited considerable zone of inhibition for both Gram-positive and Gram–negative bacteria. The outcome implies that the synthesized AgNPs also showed similar inhibition effect as streptomycin (a common reference antibiotic).  相似文献

Nanosized calcium phosphate (CP) powders have been synthesized by an inverse microemulsion system using kerosene as the oil phase, a cationic surfactant Aliquat 336, a non-ionic surfactant Tween 20 and their mixture and aqueous solutions of calcium nitrate tetrahydrate and biammonium hydrogen phosphate as the water phase. It has been found that the nature of surfactants played an important role to regulate the size and morphologies of the calcium phosphate nanoparticles. The cationic surfactant Aliquat 336 has been found to regulate the nucleation and crystal growth. The synthesized powders have been comprehensively characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Our results show that the brushite (DCPD) is the major phase comprising the calcium phosphate nanoparticles. In mixed surfactants mediated system a morphological controlled highly crystalline particles have been synthesized. Further, the role of Aliquat 336 has been established and a plausible synthetic mechanism has been proposed.  相似文献

A facile, convenient and green method has been employed for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using dried biomass of a green alga, Chlorella ellipsoidea. The phytochemicals from the alga, as a mild and non-toxic source, are believed to serve as both reducing and stabilizing agents. The formation of silver nanoparticles was confirmed from the appearance of a surface plasmon resonance band at 436 nm and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The transmission electron microscopy images showed the nanoparticles to be nearly spherical in shape with different sizes. A dynamic light scattering study revealed the average particle size to be 220.8 ± 31.3 nm. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy revealed the occurrence of alga-derived phytochemicals attached to the outer surface of biogenically accessed silver nanoparticles. The powder X-ray diffraction study revealed the face-centred cubic crystalline structure of the nanoparticles. The as-synthesized biomatrix-loaded AgNPs exhibited a high photocatalytic activity for the degradation of the hazardous pollutant dyes methylene blue and methyl orange. The catalytic efficiency was sustained even after three reduction cycles. A kinetic study indicated the degradation rates to be pseudo-first order with the degradation rate being 4.72 × 10−2 min−1 for methylene blue and 3.24 × 10−2 min−1 for methyl orange. The AgNPs also exhibited significant antibacterial activity against four selected pathogenic bacterial strains.  相似文献

A series of double hydrophobic tails of N-methyl diethanolammonium bromide cationic surface active agents were synthesized. Their chemical structures were elucidated using different analytical tools including elemental analyses, FTIR, mass fragmentation, and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. Their surface parameters including critical micelle concentration (CMC), effectiveness (π CMC ), efficiency (Pc 20), maximum surface excess (Γ max ), and minimum surface area (A min ) were calculated. The behaviors of the synthesized molecules in their solutions were discussed based on the data of surface parameters, micellization and adsorption thermodynamics at 25°, 40°, and 55°C. The experimental data of surface activity showed that these molecules are tends to form micelles in the bulk of their solutions at lower temperatures. On contrarily, they prefer to adsorb at higher temperatures. The synthesized cationic surfactants were used as solubilizing agent for nonpolar substrate (paraffin oil) at 25°C. The results of solubilization measurements showed good ability for the used surfactants towards solubilizing paraffin oil in aqueous medium. The results showed that the chemical structure of the solubilizate plays an important rule in its solubilization. Several factors were found to influence the extent of solubilization including: number of alkyl chains within surfactant molecule, symmetry of molecules and chain length of hydrophobic parts. The results were rationalized by the Kraft point and HLB values of the used surfactants. Furthermore, solubilization curves showed the steady state solubilization of each surfactant used.  相似文献

The adsorption of complexes of cationic starch, (CS) and a series of homologous sodium alkanoates on silica was studied with the quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM-D) instrument. The systems were chosen so as to represent CS/surfactant ratios below and above the critical association concentrations of the surfactants but below their critical micelle concentrations. It was found that
– surfactants did not adsorb on cationic polymers that were very tightly bound to the surface;

– surfactants did adsorb on polyelectrolytes forming layers with loops and tails extending into the solution, provided the concentration of surfactant was at least around the critical association concentration (cac) of the surfactant/polymer system;

– adsorption of surfactant was promoted by increasing the surfactant chain length and by adding simple electrolyte that weakened the electrostatic polymer/surface interaction and

– multilayers were formed when the surfactant concentration in solution was well above the cac; their formation was promoted by increasing hydrophobic interactions, e.g. by increasing the surfactant chain length.

A variety of single-chain surfactants with different charge properties and tail lengths can spontaneously adsorb on the hydrophobic surface of carbon paste electrode and form stable monolayers on the electrode surface. Hemoglobin (Hb) was successfully immobilized on these surfactant monolayers to form stable protein-surfactant composite films regardless of the charge and the tail length of surfactants. The resulting surface-confined Hb exhibited well-defined direct electron-transfer behaviors in all positively, neutrally and negatively charged surfactant films, suggesting the important role of hydrophobic interactions in the adsorption of Hb on surfactant films. When the density of surfactant monolayers was controlled to be the same, Hb was found to possess a better direct electron-transfer behavior on monolayers of cationic surfactants with a longer tail length. This, in combination with the tunneling effect in the direct electron transfer of Hb on surfactant films, demonstrated that the adsorption of Hb on surfactant monolayers may be mainly achieved by the partial intercalation of Hb in the loose structures of surfactant films through hydrophobic interactions between the alkane chains of surfactants and the hydrophobic regions of Hb. The native conformation of Hb adsorbed on these surfactant films was proved to be unchanged, reflected by the unaltered ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) and reflection-absorption infrared (RAIR) spectra, and by the catalytic activity toward hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)) and nitric oxide (NO) in comparison with the free Hb molecules.  相似文献

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of cationic, anionic (saturated and unsaturated), and nonionic surfactants on the formation, morphology, and surface properties of silica nanoparticles synthesized by the ammonium‐catalyzed hydrolysis of tetraethoxysilane in alcoholic media. Results indicate that at a relatively low surfactant concentration (1 × 10?3–1 × 10?6 M), cationic surfactants significantly affected the growth of silica particles as measured by dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopic analyses. In contrast, the anionic and nonionic surfactants showed relatively minor effects in the low concentration range. The magnitude of negative zeta potential was reduced for silica colloids that were synthesized in the presence of cationic surfactant because of charge neutralization. The presence of anionic surfactants only slightly increased the negative zeta potential while the nonionic surfactant showed no obvious effects. At high surfactant concentrations (>1 × 10?3 M), cationic and anionic surfactants both induced colloid aggregation, while the nonionic surfactant showed no effect on particle size. Raman spectroscopic analysis suggests that molecules of cationic surfactants adsorb on silica surfaces via head groups, aided by favorable electrostatic attraction, while molecules of anionic and nonionic surfactants adsorb via their hydrophobic tails.  相似文献

In this study, silver nanoparticle (AgNP) synthesis was carried out using Onosma sericeum Willd. aqueous extract for the first time, with a simple, economical, and green method without the need for any other organic solvent or external reducing or stabilizing agent. A variety of AgNPs, all of different particle sizes, were synthesized by controlling the silver ion concentration, extract volume, temperature, and pH. It was determined that the optimum conditions for AgNP synthesis were 1 mM AgNO3, pH 8, 25 °C, 20 g/200 mL extract, silver nitrate, and extract ratio 5:1 (v/v). The AgNPs were defined using UV-Vis spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The particle size distribution and zeta potential measurements of the AgNPs were measured using the dynamic light scattering (DLS) technique. It was determined that the AgNPs with a particle size of less than 10 nm showed a higher catalytic effect in the reduction of 2-nitrobenzenamine. It was also found that these nanoparticles had a cytotoxic effect on the MCF-7 breast cancer cell line depending on dosage and time. The resulting IC50 values were between 76.63 µg/mL and 169.77 µg/mL. Furthermore, the biosynthesized AgNPs showed effective antibacterial activity against the Acinetobacter baumannii bacteria. The results of the study showed that synthesized AgNPs can have a promising role in biomedical and nanobiotechnology applications.  相似文献

Adsorption of a series of ethoxylated cationic surfactants at model surfaces of alkanethiol self-assembled monolayers was studied by the surface plasmon resonance technique. Model surfaces were tailor-made by choosing alkanethiols or mixtures of alkanethiols with methyl, hydroxyl, carboxyl, and trimethylammonium groups in terminal position. The ethoxylated and quaternized cationic surfactants having from 2 to 18 oxyethylene units, showed a decrease in adsorbed amount with increasing oxyethylene chain length for both hydrophobic and hydrophilic surfaces. On a negatively charged surface, containing carboxylate groups, the surfactant with only two oxyethylene groups adsorbed strongly due to electrostatic attraction and the adsorption increased with increasing amount of surface carboxylate groups. This work shows the usefulness of self-assembled alkanethiols on gold as a tool for performing surfactant adsorption studies on surfaces with variable hydrophobicity and charge.  相似文献

Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) employing an aqueous plant extract has emerged as a viable eco-friendly method. The aim of the study was to synthesize AgNPs by using plant extract of Sanvitalia procumbens (creeping zinnia) in which the phytochemicals present in plant extract act as a stabilizing and reducing agent. For the stability of the synthesized AgNPs, different parameters like AgNO3 concentration, volume ratios of AgNO3, temperature, pH, and contact time were studied. Further, AgNPs were characterized by UV–visible spectroscopy, FT-IR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy), XRD (X-ray Diffraction), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), and EDX (Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectrometer) analysis. FT-IR analysis showed that the plant extract contained essential functional groups like O–H stretching of carboxylic acid, N–H stretching of secondary amides, and C–N stretching of aromatic amines, and C–O indicates the vibration of alcohol, ester, and carboxylic acid that facilitated in the green synthesis of AgNPs. The crystalline nature of synthesized AgNPs was confirmed by XRD, while the elemental composition of AgNPs was detected by energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). SEM studies showed the mean particle diameter of silver nanoparticles. The synthesized AgNPs were used for photocatalytic degradation of Orange G and Direct blue-15 (OG and DB-15), which were analyzed by UV-visible spectroscopy. Maximum degradation percentage of OG and DB-15 azo dyes was observed, without any significant silver leaching, thereby signifying notable photocatalytic properties of AgNPs.  相似文献
