In this paper we have investigated the propagation characteristics of optical solitons in dispersion managed optical communication systems taking into account of the effect of quintic nonlinearity. Using variational formalism, several ordinary differential equations have been established for pulse parameters. These equations have been solved numerically to investigate the propagation characteristics. It has been noticed that stable periodic pulse propagation is possible over long distance. Numerical simulation has been undertaken to show that parabolic nonlinearity reduces collision distance between neighbouring pulses of the same channel.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the existence conditions of the soliton solutions induced by considering the higher-order effects such as the third-order dispersion (TOD), self-steepening (SS), and self-frequency shift arising from stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) simultaneously in optical soliton communication. Based on the Jacobian expansion method, we successfully obtain bright and dark solitons. The results shows that the resultant inclusion is in agreement with Mollenauer et al. [Physical Review Letters 45 (1980) 1095] when the SRS is not considered; while when the SRS is considered, the existence conditions of the higher-order effects induced bright and dark solitons are not only quite different from those of the group velocity dispersion (GVD)-induced and self-phase modulation (SPM)-induced solitons, but also different from those of the TOD- and SS-induced solitons discussed by Mollenauer et al. [Physical Review Letters 45 (1980) 1095].  相似文献

Higher-order localized waves in coupled nonlinear Schr6dinger equations are investigated by the generalized Darboux transformation. We show that two dark-bright solitons together with a second-order rogue wave of fundamental or triangular pattern and two breathers together with a second-order rogue wave of fundamentM or triangular pattern coexist in the second-order localized wave for the coupled system. Moreover, by increasing the value of one free parameter, the nonlinear waves in the second-order localized wave can merge with each other. The results further reveal the abundant dynamic behaviors of localized waves in coupled systems.  相似文献

The effects of higher-order space charge field on the self-deflection of dark screening spatial solitons in biased photorefractive crystals are numerically investigated under steady-state conditions. The expression for an induced space-charge electric field including higher-order space-charge field terms is obtained. Numerical results indicate that dark solitons possess a self-deflection process during propagation, and the solitons always bend in the direction of the c axis of the crystal. The self-deflection of dark solitons can experience considerable increase especially in the regime of high bias field strengths.  相似文献

The quantum theory of dark soliton propagation in fibers is studied based on the linearization approximation. Then the uncertainties in photon number, phase, position (time) and momentum of quantized dark solitons are calculated. We present a systematic study on the formation of ultra-slow bright and dark optical solitons in highly resonant media. By investigating four life-time broadened atomic systems, i.e., three-state Λ-type and cascade-type schemes, and four-state N-type and cascade-type schemes, we show that the formation of such ultra-slow solitons in cold atomic systems is a fairly universal phenomenon.  相似文献

通过数值求解变系数非线性薛定谔方程,讨论具有有限背景宽度的皮秒暗光脉冲的传输和相互作用。结果表明,一种新的效应,即暗孤子的周期性再生效应,稳定地存在于具有分布参量的光纤系统中,不会受到孤子间相互作用的影响。并且,这种再生效应对损耗和有限的扰动(如白噪声)等不敏感。这表明暗孤子的周期性再生效应是稳定的。  相似文献

By using the standard symmetry reduction method,the gray/dark solitons and periodic waves(gray/dark soliton lattice) are analytically studied for the nonlinear optical media with periodic nonlocal response.It is found that there are two critical points for the quantity β=ω_m~2/ω_0~2,the multiplication of the square of the wave number(1/ω_0)and the strength(w_m~2) of the nonlocality both for the soliton and periodic solutions.The soliton solution exists only for β≤ 1/4 and the soliton is a double well gray soliton for β 1/8 while it is a single well gray soliton for β≤ 1/8.The soliton is dark only for β=1/4,otherwise it is a gray soliton.Similar critical points exist for the gray/dark soliton lattice solutions.  相似文献

The non-integrable behavior in one-dimensional generalized nonlinear Schr6dinger equations involving high order saturable nonlinearities, which govern the dynamic behavior in a class of physical systems, is investigated numerically. The numerical results illustrate that the high order saturable nonlinearities would lead to chaos, where the irregular homoclinic orbit (HMO) crossings have been observed in phase space. On the other hand, we show that the periodic solutions and solitary waves may exist in such non-integrable continuum Hamiltonian dynamic systems.  相似文献

The contribution of higher-order terms on the nonlinear propagation of electron acoustic waves has been investigated, using the reductive perturbation technique. A modified KdV equation for the first order perturbed potential and a linear inhomogeneous equation for the second order perturbed potential have been derived. We solve a generalized nonautonomous nonlinear Schrdinger equation analytically by performing the Hirota's bilinearization method. The precise expression of a parameter , which provides a compatibility condition and dark soliton management, is obtained. Comparing with nonautonomous bright soliton, we find that the gain parameter affects both the background and the valley of dark soliton (∈2≠1) while it has no effects on the wave central position.Moreover, the precise expressions of a nonautonomous black soliton's (∈2≠1) width, background and the trajectory of its wave central, which describe the dynamic behavior of soliton's evolution, are investigated analytically. Finally, the stability of the dark soliton solution is demonstrated numerically. It is shown that the main characteristic of the dark solitons keeps unchanged under a slight perturbation in the compatibility condition.  相似文献
