The standard model of insurance demand is enlarged by the inclusion of uninsurable risks. When these risks are independent of the insurable risk standard methods can be applied to show the effects of uninsurable risks on the insurance premium and on optimal coinsurance. In case of dependence it is shown that expected utility theory can imply counterintuitive results for the behaviour of risk-averse insurance buyers. It is shown that expected local utility theory gives more intuitive results.  相似文献

Numerous researchers have applied the martingale approach for models driven by Lévy processes to study optimal investment problems. The aim of this paper is to apply the martingale approach to obtain a closed form solution for the optimal investment, consumption and insurance strategies of an individual in the presence of an insurable risk when the insurable risk and risky asset returns are described by Lévy processes and the utility is a constant absolute risk aversion (CARA). The model developed in this paper can potentially be applied to absorb large insurable losses in the absence of insurance protection and to examine the level of diminishing current utility and consumption.  相似文献

本文针对企业投资决策者在新产品开发中的风险决策,基于贝叶斯决策理论及其相关研究建立了评估外部情报信息价值的数学模型,探讨投资决策者风险倾向、新产品开发风险投资未来市场需求以及情报费用对投资决策的影响机制,并用于评估新产品开发决策。研究结果有助于理解企业决策者进行新产品开发决策时应考虑的因素和情境,并能够辅助决策。最后,将这一数学模型应用到一家大型高科技企业的案例中。应用案例分析结果表明:本文的研究结论能够为企业开发新产品提供相关的决策依据。  相似文献

We propose a model that optimizes enterprise investments in cybersecurity using expected utility theory. The model allows computing (a) investment in self‐defense to reduce the risk of security breaches, (b) investment in cyber insurance to transfer the residual risk to insurance companies, and (c) investment in forensic readiness to make the insured firms capable of generating provable insurance claims about security breaches. A three‐phase–based model of vulnerability rate evolution over time is proposed and used to estimate the different planned security expenditures throughout the investment horizon. At the starting time of investment, a decision maker invests to cover the existing risk of breach and periodically spends to cover the additional risk observed due to the release of new vulnerabilities. In this work, the intermediate tranches are determined while considering three different attitudes of decision makers, namely, optimistic, pessimistic, and realistic. An analysis is conducted to assess the performance of the proposed models.  相似文献

The insured's portfolio consists of an insurable (pure) risk, an uninsurable (speculative) risk, a (proportional) insurance policy and a risk-free asset. The optimal insurance policy (i.e., the proportion to be insured) is examined from the insured's point of view, using the reward to variability concept. The importance of the risk-free asset in reaching an exact and explicit solution is analyzed, while emphasizing the possibility of substitution of the risk-free investment and insurance mechanisms. The paper demonstrates possibilities of improving the insured's welfare by the use of the risk-free rate - which is sometimes less expensive than other risk reduction instruments. The analysis leads to a two-step solution, similar to the well- known Hirschleifer investment model and to the famous Capital Assets Pricing Model.  相似文献

The present work studies the design of an optimal insurance policy from the perspective of an insured, where the insurable loss is mutually exclusive from another loss that is denied in the insurance coverage. To reduce ex post moral hazard, we assume that both the insured and the insurer would pay more for a larger realization of the insurable loss. When the insurance premium principle preserves the convex order, we show that any admissible insurance contract is suboptimal to a two-layer insurance policy under the criterion of minimizing the insured’s total risk exposure quantified by value at risk, tail value at risk or an expectile. The form of optimal insurance can be further simplified to be one-layer by imposing an additional weak condition on the premium principle. Finally, we use Wang’s premium principle and the expected value premium principle to illustrate the applicability of our results, and find that optimal insurance solutions are affected not only by the size of the excluded loss but also by the risk measure chosen to quantify the insured’s risk exposure.  相似文献

We consider an investor who wants to select his optimal consumption, investment and insurance policies. Motivated by new insurance products, we allow not only the financial market but also the insurable loss to depend on the regime of the economy. The objective of the investor is to maximize his expected total discounted utility of consumption over an infinite time horizon. For the case of hyperbolic absolute risk aversion (HARA) utility functions, we obtain the first explicit solutions for simultaneous optimal consumption, investment, and insurance problems when there is regime switching. We determine that the optimal insurance contract is either no-insurance or deductible insurance, and calculate when it is optimal to buy insurance. The optimal policy depends strongly on the regime of the economy. Through an economic analysis, we calculate the advantage of buying insurance.  相似文献

This paper studies a consumption–investment problem involving health shock risk, perishable consumption, and consumption of housing services. Additionally to a risk-free asset and a stock index, the agent can invest in real estate. I analyze the impact of health shocks on the optimal consumption and investment decisions in model specifications with and without the possibility to buy critical illness insurance. I discuss the influence of critical illness insurance on the optimal strategy and analyze the drivers of the optimal critical illness insurance demand. The results indicate that health shock risk has potentially devastating consequences, especially for young agents. It turns out that critical illness insurance is an excellent instrument for hedging health shock risk and for consumption smoothing across different health states. Optimal critical illness insurance demand is decreasing in financial wealth and increasing in human wealth. Real estate prices have a minor influence on optimal critical illness insurance demand.  相似文献

Variable annuities are enhanced life insurance products that offer policyholders participation in equity investment with minimum return guarantees. There are two well-established risk management strategies in practice for variable annuity guaranteed benefits, namely, (1) stochastic reserving based on risk measures such as value-at-risk (VaR) and conditional-tail-expectation (CTE); (2) dynamic hedging using exchange-traded derivatives. The latter is increasingly more popular than the former, due to a common perception of its low cost. While both have been extensively used in the insurance industry, scarce academic literature has been written on the comparison of the two approaches. This paper presents a quantitative framework in which two risk management strategies are mathematically formulated and where the basis for decision making can be determined analytically. Besides, the paper proposes dynamic hedging of net liabilities as a more effective and cost-saving alternative to the common practice of dynamic hedging of gross liabilities. The finding of this paper does not support the general perception that dynamic hedging is always more affordable than stochastic reserving, although in many cases it is with the CTE risk measure.  相似文献

以传统CPPI投资策略的分析框架为基础,在风险资产为连续价格波动的条件下,构建离散投资决策时点的CPPI投资策略。引入模糊决策的分析方法度量投资决策者的心理预期,将传统CPPI投资策略中的投资乘数修正为随机模糊投资乘数,采用马尔科夫链蒙特卡洛模拟风险资产未来市场价格,利用模糊隶属函数描述投资决策者对未来市场运行状况预期的不确定性,保证即使投资决策者预期不精确的条件下,也能保证离散CPPI投资策略获得相对稳定的投资效果。利用中国证券市场上的真实数据进行实证检验,认为:随机模糊投资乘数最大限度地涵盖了投资决策者主观预测的不确定性;基于随机模糊投资乘数的离散CPPI投资策略在不同的市场运行状况中,较传统的CPPI投资策略更具投资的灵活性,可以在保证投资保险的前提下,追求较高的投资收益。  相似文献

This paper presents an analysis of a portfolio model which can be used to assist a property-liability insurance company in determining the optimal composition of the insurance and investment portfolios. By introducing insurer's threshold risk and relaxing some non-realistic assumptions made in traditional chance constraint insurance and investment portfolio models, we propose a method for an insurer to maximize his return threshold for a given threshold risk level. This proposed model can be used to optimize the composition of underwriting and investment portfolios regarding the insurer's threshold risk level, as well as to generate the efficient frontier by adjusting insurer's threshold risk levels. A numerical example is given based on the industry's aggregated data for a sixteen year period.  相似文献

针对投资决策过程中语言评价值具有随机性及模糊性,以及投资者的决策容易受到其情绪的影响且不同投资者受到的影响程度不同,本文提出基于前景云的不确定语言多准则投资群决策方法,并将其运用在国际股指投资中。其中,前景理论模型用来刻画投资者情绪对决策的影响,而云模型用来刻画语言评价值模糊性和随机性之间的关联。更具体来说,论文首先解决传统文献云生成方法中云期望值超过论域或者无法区分语言评价标度等级等问题,然后构建了前景云模型并将该模型应用于多个专家共同进行的国际股指投资群决策。实证结果显示,该模型得出的决策结果比传统决策方法下的结果更直观、可靠,表现为决策依据不仅考虑方案的期望值大小及变动风险,而且还考虑了投资者情绪对决策的影响。由此可得出,本文所提出的模型更符合现实情景,也更能有效实现对投资群决策。  相似文献

本文在半鞅理论框架下,构建包括可交易风险资产、不可交易风险资产和未定权益的金融投资模型。在考虑随机通胀风险和获取部分市场信息的情形下,研究投资经理人终端真实净财富指数效用最大化问题。运用滤波理论、半鞅和倒向随机微分方程(BSDE)理论,求解带有随机通胀风险的最优投资策略和价值过程精确解。数值分析结果发现,可交易风险资产最优投资额随着预期通胀率的增加而减少,投资价值呈先增后减态势。当通胀波动率无限接近可交易风险资产名义价格波动率时,通胀风险可完全对冲,投资人会不断追加在可交易风险资产的投资额,以期实现终端真实净财富期望指数效用最大化。研究结果为金融市场的投资决策提供更加科学的理论参考。  相似文献

??It is assumed that both an insurance company and a reinsurance company adopt the variance premium principle to collect premiums. Specifically, an insurance company is allowed to investment not only in a domestic risk-free asset and a risky asset, but also in a foreign risky asset. Firstly, we use a geometry Brownian motion to model the exchange rate risk, and assume that the insurance company could control the insurance risk by transferring the insurance business into the reinsurance company. Secondly, the stochastic dynamic programming principle is used to study the optimal investment and reinsurance problems in two situations. The first is a diffusion approximation risk model and the second is a classical risk model. The optimal investment and reinsurance strategies are obtained under these two situations. We also show that the exchange rate risk has a great impact on the insurance company's investment strategies, but has no effect on the reinsurance strategies. Finally, a sensitivity analysis of some parameters is provided.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the optimal investment and proportional reinsurance strategy when an insurance company wishes to maximize the expected exponential utility of the terminal wealth. It is assumed that the instantaneous rate of investment return follows an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process. Using stochastic control theory and Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations, explicit expressions for the optimal strategy and value function are derived not only for the compound Poisson risk model but also for the Brownian motion risk model. Further, we investigate the partially observable optimization problem, and also obtain explicit expressions for the optimal results.  相似文献

This paper studies optimal investment and the dynamic cost of income uncertainty, applying a stochastic programming approach. The motivation is given by a case study in Finnish agriculture. The investment decision of a representative farm is modelled as a Markov decision process, extended to account for risk. A numerical framework for studying the dynamic uncertainty cost is presented, modifying the classical expected value of perfect information to a dynamic setting. The uncertainty cost depends on the volatility of income: e.g. with stationary income, the dynamic uncertainty cost corresponds to a dynamic option value of postponing investment. The model can be applied to agricultural policy planning. In the case study, the investment decision is sensitive to risk.  相似文献

Public policy response to global climate change presents a classic problem of decision making under uncertainty. Theoretical work has shown that explicitly accounting for uncertainty and learning in climate change can have a large impact on optimal policy, especially technology policy. However, theory also shows that the specific impacts of uncertainty are ambiguous. In this paper, we provide a framework that combines economics and decision analysis to implement probabilistic data on energy technology research and development (R&D) policy in response to global climate change. We find that, given a budget constraint, the composition of the optimal R&D portfolio is highly diversified and robust to risk in climate damages. The overall optimal investment into technical change, however, does depend (in a non-monotonic way) on the risk in climate damages. Finally, we show that in order to properly value R&D, abatement must be included as a recourse decision.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a robust optimal investment and reinsurance problem for a general insurance company which contains an insurer and a reinsurer. Assume that the claim process described by a Brownian motion with drift, the insurer can purchase proportional reinsurance from the reinsurer. Both the insurer and the reinsurer can invest in a financial market consisting of one risk-free asset and one risky asset whose price process is described by the Heston model. Besides, the general insurance company’s manager will search for a robust optimal investment and reinsurance strategy, since the general insurance company faces model uncertainty and its manager is ambiguity-averse in our assumption. The optimal decision is to maximize the minimal expected exponential utility of the weighted sum of the insurer’s and the reinsurer’s surplus processes. By using techniques of stochastic control theory, we give sufficient conditions under which the closed-form expressions for the robust optimal investment and reinsurance strategies and the corresponding value function are obtained.  相似文献
