New fluorogenic or/and chromogenic calix[4]arenes 1-3 with two facing amide groups linked to fluorescent pyrene units are synthesized. Orientations of the pyrene units are remote from each other in 1 and face-to-face pi-stacked in 2, which produces different photophysical properties. In the excited state, the two pyrene units of 2 form a strong intramolecular excimer displaying an emission at 472 nm with a relatively weak monomer emission at 395 nm. In contrast, 1 exhibits only a monomer emission at 398 nm because intramolecular hydrogen bonding between the phenolic OH oxygens and the amide hydrogens prevents pi-stacking of the two pyrene groups. Fluorescence changes upon addition of various metal ions show that 1 has a remarkably high selectivity for In(3+) over the other metal ions tested. Compound 1 forms 2:1 (metal:ligand), as well as 1:1 complexes, with In(3+), with fluorescence varying uniquely with the complex stoichiometry. Compound 3, which possess two pyrene units and two chromogenic azo groups, shows almost the same binding behavior toward metal ions as does 1, together with additional bathochromic shifts of the absorption maximum. Compared with 1, compound 3 emits a considerably weaker fluorescence, which is attributed to electron transfer from the pyrene units to the nitro groups of the phenylazo moieties.  相似文献

[reaction: see text] Interaction of a novel pyrene-based tweezer molecule with a macrocyclic ether-imide-sulfone results in formation of a strongly bound complex (K(a) = 24 000 M(-)(1)) in which binding results not only from pi-pi stacking interactions involving pyrene units as donors and macrocyclic naphthalene-tetracarboximide and biphenylenedisulfone groups as acceptors but also from N-H.O and C-H.O hydrogen bonds and from "reverse" pi-stacking of the electron-poor isophthaloyl residue of the tweezer with an electron-rich 3-aminophenoxy residue of the macrocyclic imide.  相似文献

Several chiral octahedral complexes of the general formula [Ru(bpy)2 (Lig)][PF6]2 (Lig = a ligand that can participate in pi-stacking interactions such as eilatin, isoeilatin, and tpphz) were synthesized in both the racemic and enantiomerically pure/enriched forms. Nonracemic mixtures of enantiomers of all these complexes exhibit splitting of the 1H NMR spectra (NMR nonequivalence); i.e., each spectrum contains a major and a minor set of peaks. The origin of this phenomenon is attributed to a fast equilibrium between monomers and discrete dimers held together by pi-stacking interactions, and it is observed for a wide range of pi-stacking interaction strengths. The NMR spectrum splitting exhibited by these complexes can be exploited for the evaluation of their enantiomeric excess simply from the integral ratio, without addition of chiral shift reagents.  相似文献

The macrocyclic phenanthrolinophane 2,9-[2,5,8-triaza-5-(N-anthracene-9-methylamino)ethyl]-[9]-1,10-phenanthrolinophane (L) bearing a pendant arm containing a coordinating amine and an anthracene group forms stable complexes with Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) in solution. Stability constants of these complexes were determined in 0.10 mol dm(-3) NMe(4)Cl H(2)O-MeCN (1:1, v/v) solution at 298.1 +/- 0.1 K by means of potentiometric (pH metric) titration. The fluorescence emission properties of these complexes were studied in this solvent. For the Zn(II) complex, steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence studies were performed in ethanol solution and in the solid state. In solution, intramolecular pi-stacking interaction between phenanthroline and anthracene in the ground state and exciplex emission in the excited state were observed. From the temperature dependence of the photostationary ratio (I(Exc)/I(M)), the activation energy for the exciplex formation (E(a)) and the binding energy of the exciplex (-DeltaH) were determined. The crystal structure of the [ZnLBr](ClO(4)).H(2)O compound was resolved, showing that in the solid state both intra- and inter-molecular pi-stacking interactions are present. Such interactions were also evidenced by UV-vis absorption and emission spectra in the solid state. The absorption spectrum of a thin film of the solid complex is red-shifted compared with the solution spectra, whereas its emission spectrum reveals the unique featureless exciplex band, blue shifted compared with the solution. In conjunction with X-ray data the solid-state data was interpreted as being due to a new exciplex where no pi-stacking (full overlap of the pi-electron cloud of the two chromophores - anthracene and phenanthroline) is observed. L is a fluorescent chemosensor able to signal Zn(II) in presence of Cd(II) and Hg(II), since the last two metal ions do not give rise either to the formation of pi-stacking complexes or to exciplex emission in solution.  相似文献

[structure: see text] The rigid, highly congested structure of 1,8-diacridylnaphthalenes has been studied in solution and in the solid state. The unique geometry of these compounds forces the acridyl rings to undergo face-to-face interactions while rendering T-shaped orientations and face-to-edge interactions impossible. Crystallographic analysis shows that splaying between the heteroaryl rings decreases while twisting between the cofacial rings increases as the acridyl nitrogens of the 1,8-diacridylnaphthalene framework are subsequently oxidized. The peri-acridyl rings are slightly splayed but remain perfectly planar in all cases. The significant decrease in splaying indicates enhanced pi-pi-attraction between the electron-rich acridyl N-oxide moieties, which is in agreement with recently reported symmetry-adapted perturbation theory calculations. The pi-stacking and the molecular geometry between the acridyl rings observed in the solid state have been confirmed through in-solution studies showing characteristic proton NMR upfield shifts and optical properties indicative of static intramolecular arene-arene interactions. Acridyl protons located directly above the adjacent aryl moiety as a consequence of twisting between the heteroaryl rings were identified by COSY NMR measurements and found to intrude into the pi-cloud and diamagnetic ring current of the neighboring acridine. Different shapes and strong red shifts of the fluorescence emission maxima of the diacridylnaphthalenes in comparison to parental acridyl monomers have been attributed to static excimer emission.  相似文献

[structure, reaction: see text] The U-shaped, multifunctionalized tetraetheno-bridged dicyclopenta[b,i]anthracenediol 10 was synthesized to serve as a platform molecule. The molecule was prepared from the Diels-Alder adduct 5a of tricycloundecatriene 3 and bicyclo[2.2.2]octene-fused p-benzoquinone 4. Functionalization of 10 to construct crab-like molecules was achieved via the base-promoted bis-O-alkylation of two endo-oriented hydroxyl groups at termini in 10 with the following alkyl halides: allyl, propagyl, and benzyl bromides; 1-bromo- and 1-iodo-4-(bromomethyl)benzene; 9-(bromomethyl)anthracene; 1-(bromomethyl)pyrene; and isomeric bromomethylpyridines. Single-crystal X-ray structures were obtained for bis-phenyl (21) and bis-pyrenyl (25) crabs, and for the silver(I) complex (32 and 33) crabs. The silver(I) complex 32 from bis-o-pyridyl crab 30 is a [2+2] dimeric dimetallocyclophane, and 33 from bis-m-pyridyl crab 29 is a [1+1] metallo-bridged cyclophane. The self-assembled intramolecular pi-stacking of pyrenyl rings in 25 with an interplanar distance of 3.40 A and the consequent pi-pi interactions were revealed by the X-ray crystal structure and its luminescence property.  相似文献

The synthesis is described for a series of five molecular dyads comprising pyrene-based terminals covalently linked through a 1,3-disubstituted phenylene spacer. The extent of through-space communication between the pyrene units is modulated by steric interactions imposed by bulky moieties attached at the 6,8-positions of each pyrene unit. For the control compound, only hydrogen atoms occupy the 6,8 positions (DP1), whereas the remaining compounds incorporate ethynylene groups terminated with either triisopropylsilyl (DP2), 1-tert-butylbenzene (DP3), 2,6-di-tert-butylbenzene (DP4) or 1-tert-butyl-3,5-dimethylbenzene (DP5) units. Each compound shows a mixture of monomer and excimer fluorescence in fluid solution at room temperature, but only monomer emission in a glassy matrix at 77 K. The ratio of monomer to excimer fluorescence depends markedly on the molecular structure; DP1 is heavily biased in favour of the excimer and DP4 is enriched with monomer fluorescence. Photophysical properties, including laser induced and delayed fluorescence data, are reported for each compound. Delayed fluorescence occurs by both intramolecular and bimolecular steps, but these events take place on different timescales. The possibility is raised for using intramolecular triplet-triplet annihilation as a means of molecular imaging.  相似文献

The reaction between (1-acetyl)pyrene and dimethylformamide dimethylacetal followed by condensation of the resulting product mixture with hydrazine affords 3(5)-(1-pyrenyl)pyrazole (2) in good yield. The easily separable bis[(1-pyrenyl)pyrazole]methane derivatives CH(2)(3-pz(pyrene))(2) (3a, pz = pyrazolyl ring) and CH(2)(3-pz(pyrene))(5-pz(pyrene)) (3b) were prepared by metathetical reactions between pyrazole and CH(2)Cl(2), while CH((n)()Pr)(pz(pyrene))(2) (4) was prepared by transamination of 2 with butyraldehyde diethylacetal. Compounds 2-4 are luminescent under irradiation with UV light and have pyrenyl monomer-based emissions centered near 400 nm. Compounds 3a and 4 each react with Re(CO)(5)Br in a 1:1 molar ratio to form highly insoluble complexes Re(CO)(3)Br[(pz(pyrene))(2)CH(2)] (5) and Re(CO)(3)Br[(pz(pyrene))(2)CH((n)()Pr)] (6). Complex Re(CO)(3)Br[(pz)(2)CMe(2)] (7) was also prepared. X-ray structural studies of 6 show extensive pi-stacking of pyrenyl groups to form two-dimensional sheets. Pulsed field gradient spin-echo NMR (PGSE-NMR) experiments show that the complexes are monomeric in tetrachloroethane. Variable-temperature, difference NOE and 2-D NMR experiments demonstrate that isomers are present in solution that differ by restricted rotation about the pyrazolyl-pyrenyl bond. The pyrenyl-based emissions centered near 400 nm are quenched by complexation to the Re(CO)(3)Br moiety in 5 and 6.  相似文献

Two series of DiSpiroFluorene-IndenoFluorene (DSF-IF) positional isomers, namely dispiro[2,7-diarylfluorene-9',6,9',12-indeno[1,2-b]fluorenes], (1,2-b)-DSF-IFs 1 and dispiro[2,7-diarylfluorene-9',6,9',12-indeno[2,1-a]fluorenes], (2,1-a)-DSF-IFs 2 have been synthesized. These violet-to-blue fluorescent emitters possess a 3π-2spiro architecture, which combines via two spiro links two different indenofluorene cores, that is, (1,2-b)-IF or (2,1-a)-IF and 2,7-substituted-diaryl-fluorene units. Due to their different geometric profiles, the two families of positional isomers present drastically different properties. The marked difference observed between the properties of (1,2-b)-DSF-IF (1) and (2,1-a)-DSF-IF (2) is discussed in terms of intramolecular π-π interactions occurring in (2,1-a)-DSF-IF (2) leading to conformationally-controllable intramolecular excimer formation. Indeed, the original geometry of the (2,1-a)-DSF-IF (2) family, with face-to-face "aryl-fluorene-aryl" moieties, leads to remarkable excimer emission through intramolecular π-π interactions in the excited state. Furthermore, the emission wavelengths can be gradually modulated by the control of the steric hindrance between the adjacent substituted phenyl rings. Thus, through a comparative and detailed study of the (1)H NMR, electrochemical and photophysical properties of DSF-IFs 1 and 2, we have evidenced the intramolecular π-π interactions occurring between the two "aryl-fluorene-aryl" moieties in the ground state and in the excited state. These properties have been finally correlated to the spectacular conformational change modeled by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Indeed, the two "aryl-fluorene-aryl" moieties switch from a staggered conformation in the ground state to an eclipsed conformation in the first excited state.  相似文献

We present an analysis of bulk (1)H NMR chemical shifts for a series of biochemically relevant molecular crystals in analogy to the well-known solvent NMR chemical shifts. The term bulk shifts denotes the change in NMR frequency of a gas-phase molecule when it undergoes crystallization. We compute NMR parameters from first-principles electronic structure calculations under full periodic boundary conditions and for isolated molecules and compare them to the corresponding experimental fast magic-angle spinning solid-state NMR spectra. The agreement between computed and experimental lines is generally very good. The main phenomena responsible for bulk shifts are packing effects (hydrogen bonding and pi-stacking) in the condensed phase. By using these NMR bulk shifts in well-ordered crystalline model systems composed of biologically relevant molecules, we can understand the individual spectroscopic signatures of packing effects. These local structural driving forces, hydrogen bonding, pi-stacking, and related phenomena, stand as a model for the forces that govern the assembly of much more complex supramolecular aggregates. We show to which accuracy condensed-phase ab initio calculations can predict structure and structure-property relationships for noncovalent interactions in complex supramolecular systems.  相似文献

Two novel X-ray structures of the sulfonic ester derivatives 2-(6-iodo-1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl)ethyl 4-nitrobenzenesulfonate, 3, and 2-(6-iodo-1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl)ethyl 4-methylbenzenesulfonate, 4, have been obtained in a study aimed at analyzing the structures and conformations of sulfonic ester derivatives that are routinely used in alkaloid syntheses. The crystal structure of 4 is highly unusual, containing four independent molecules that belong to two distinct conformational types: (1) a hairpin conformation (stabilized mainly by intramolecular pi-stacking) and (2) a stepped conformation (stabilized mainly by intermolecular pi-stacking). Compound 3, on the other hand, crystallizes exclusively as the hairpin conformer. New MM+ force field parameters for sulfonic esters have been developed using the X-ray data, empirical rules, and DFT calculations to estimate the bond dipole parameters. Grid searches of conformational space for 3 and 4 using MM methods show that there are several gas-phase conformations within 5 kcal/mol of the global minimum and that the lowest energy conformations (by approximately 4.6 kcal/mol) are of the hairpin type. Analysis of the MM conformational energies suggests that the dominant intramolecular interaction stabilizing the hairpin conformations of 3 and 4 is van der Waals attraction. Moreover, the lattice energies for packing the hairpin conformations of 3 and 4 are approximately 4 kcal/mol more favorable than for the stepped conformations. Various intermolecular interactions contribute to the complexity of the observed crystal structures of 3 and 4, including electrostatic attraction between O and I atoms in neighboring molecules. Langevin dynamics (LD) simulations at several temperatures (6.0 ns, friction coefficient = 2.5 ps(-1)) indicate that the conformational exchange rates are approximately 10(10)-10(11) s(-1) over the temperature range 213-400 K, accounting for the temperature-independent (1)H NMR spectra of 3 and 4.  相似文献

Hydride reduction of C=N bonds stereocontrolled by intramolecular pi-stacking interactions of 1-naphthylsulfinyl and N-aryl groups, nonoxidative Pummerer rearrangement, and ring-closing metathesis are efficiently combined in a highly stereoselective entry to enantiomerically pure cyclic and acyclic fluorinated beta-amino alcohols and alpha-amino acid derivatives, respectively.  相似文献

[reaction: see text] A novel donor-acceptor conjugate 1 was synthesized, and its interactions with various amino acids have been investigated as compared to the model system 2. The conjugate 1 unusually forms an intramolecular charge-transfer complex in the aqueous medium and undergoes selective binding interactions with tryptophan. The uniqueness of this system is that it selectively recognizes tryptophan among all other amino acids and involves synergistic effects of pi-stacking, electrostatic, and donor-acceptor interactions.  相似文献

Linear 1,2-bis(pyridinium)ethane 'axles' and macrocyclic 24-membered crown ether 'wheels' (, and ) combine to form [2]pseudorotaxanes. These interpenetrated adducts are held together by N+...O ion-dipole interactions, a series of C-H...O hydrogen bonds and pi-stacking between electron-poor pyridinium rings of the axle and electron-rich catechol rings of the wheel. 1H NMR spectroscopy was used to identify the structural details of the interaction and to determine the thermodynamics of the binding process in solution. Analysis of nine of these adducts by single crystal X-ray crystallography allowed a detailed study of the non-covalent interactions in the solid state. A wide variety of structural changes could be made to the system. The versatility and potential of the template for the construction of permanently interlocked structures such as rotaxanes and catenanes is discussed.  相似文献

The formation of head-to-tail contacts in de novo synthesized benzophenone/tyrosine dyads, bp logical sum Tyr, was probed in the ground and excited triplet state by NMR techniques and laser flash photolysis, respectively. The high affinity of triplet-excited ketones towards phenols was used to trace the geometric demands for high reactivity in the excited state. A retardation effect on the rates with increasing hydrogen-bond-acceptor ability of the solvent is correlated with ground-state masking of the phenol. In a given solvent the efficiencies of the intramolecular hydrogen-atom-transfer reaction depend strongly on the properties of the linker: rate constants for the intramolecular quenching of the triplet state cover the range of 10(5) to 10(8) s(-1). The observed order of reactivity correlates to a) the probability of close contacts (from molecular-dynamics simulations) and b) the extent of the electronic overlap between the pi systems of the donor and acceptor moieties (from NMR). A broad survey of the NMR spectra in nine different solvents showed that head-to-tail interactions between the aromatic moieties of the bp logical sum Tyr dyads already exist in the ground state. Favourable aromatic-aromatic interactions in the ground state appear to correspond to high excited-state reactivity.  相似文献

The magnetic interaction and spin transfer via phosphorus have been investigated for the tri-tert-butylaminoxyl para-substituted triphenylphosphine oxide. For this radical unit, the conjugation existing between the pi* orbital of the NO group and the phenyl pi orbitals leads to an efficient delocalization of the spin from the radical to the neighboring aromatic ring. This has been confirmed by using fluid solution high-resolution EPR and solid state MAS NMR spectroscopy. The spin densities located on the atoms of the molecule could be probed since (1)H, (13)C, (14)N, and (31)P are nuclei active in NMR and EPR, and lead to a precise spin distribution map for the triradical. The experimental investigations were completed by a DFT computational study. These techniques established in particular that spin density is located at the phosphorus (rho=-15x10(-3) au), that its sign is in line with the sign alternation principle and that its magnitude is in the order of that found on the aromatic C atoms of the molecule. Surprisingly, whereas the spin distribution scheme supports ferromagnetic interactions among the radical units, the magnetic behavior found for this molecule revealed a low-spin ground state characterized by an intramolecular exchange parameter of J=-7.55 cm(-1) as revealed by solid state susceptibility studies and low temperature EPR. The X-ray crystal structures solved at 293 and 30 K show the occurrence of a crystallographic transition resulting in an ordering of the molecular units at low temperature.  相似文献

Several planar conjugated polymers and model compounds containing pyrene units are synthesized. The precursor polymers and model compounds are obtained through the Pd(0)‐catalyzed Suzuki reaction, then the planar structure is formed through intramolecular cyclization in the presence of acid. We investigate the regioisomers in intramolecular cyclization reaction by using model compounds, suggesting that the syn‐ and anti‐structures are formed in ladder‐type polymer LP1 , and the syn‐structure is more easily formed in LP3 . The planar conjugated polymers and model compounds show untypical features of ladder‐type polymers, they display broad absorption and blue or blue‐green emission in solution, and interchain π‐π stacking in film still occurs. Moreover, the new polymers and model compounds are characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, gel‐permeation chromatography (GPC) and cyclic voltammetry (CV).  相似文献

The bis[1-(9-anthracene)phosphirane]dithiolatoplatinum(II) complexes, Pt[1-(9-anthracene)phosphirane](2)(dithiolate), where dithiolate = 1,1-dimethoxycarbonyl-ethylene-2,2-dithiolate (dmdt) (2), 1,1-diethoxycarbonyl-ethylene-2,2-dithiolate (dedt) (3), 1-ethoxycarbonyl-1-cyano-ethylene-2, 2-dithiolate (ecdt) (4), and 1,1-dicyano-ethylene-2,2-dithiolate (dcdt) (5), were prepared from cis-dichlorobis[1-(9-anthracene)phosphirane]platinum(II) (1). Complexes 3 and 5 were characterized by X-ray crystallography and were found to have vastly different crystal and molecular structures. The crystal and molecular structure of 3 is dominated by intramolecular pi-stacking between the anthracene rings of the cis-bis(anthracene)phosphiranes with a ring...ring separation of 3.48(6) A. The molecular structure of 5 does not exhibit an intramolecular interaction between the anthracene rings. Instead, the crystal structure of 5shows significant intermolecular pi-stacking between the anthracene rings of the phosphirane ligands of adjacent molecules packed in the crystal lattice. The intermolecular stacking interaction results in a ring...ring separation of 3.33(4) A. Complexes 2-5 were found to emit at 530 nm at low temperatures in the solid state. Complex 5 emits strongly in fluid THF or benzene solution at 430 nm.  相似文献
