The purpose of this article is to study decay properties for solutions of a class of PDEs with memory by Lyapunov functionals method. Moreover, we prove that when the kernels of the convolutions decay exponentially, the first and second order energy of the solutions decay exponentially. We prove the pointwise decay of solutions to three linear equations: (1) the transport equation in phase space generalizing the classical Vlasov equation, (2) the linear Schrödinger equation, (3) the Airy (linear KdV) equation. The usual proofs use explicit representation formulae, and either obtain \(L^1\)\(L^\infty \) decay through directly estimating the fundamental solution in physical space or by studying oscillatory integrals coming from the representation in Fourier space. Our proof instead combines “vector field” commutators that capture the inherent symmetries of the relevant equations with conservation laws for mass and energy to get space–time weighted energy estimates. Combined with a simple version of Sobolev’s inequality this gives pointwise decay as desired. In the case of the Vlasov and Schrödinger equations, we can recover sharp pointwise decay; in the Schrödinger case we also show how to obtain local energy decay as well as Strichartz-type estimates. For the Airy equation we obtain a local energy decay that is almost sharp from the scaling point of view, but nonetheless misses the classical estimates by a gap. This work is inspired by the work of Klainerman on \(L^2\)\(L^\infty \) decay of wave equations, as well as the recent work of Fajman, Joudioux, and Smulevici on decay of mass distributions for the relativistic Vlasov equation.  相似文献

We provide a model that bridges the gap between the simplest variation of two benchmark models of strategic network formation: Bala and Goyal’s two-way flow model without decay, where links can be unilaterally formed, and a variation of Jackson and Wolinsky’s model based on bilateral formation of links assuming no decay. In the model introduced and studied here a link can be created unilaterally. When it is only supported by one of the two players the flow through the link suffers some degree of decay, but when it is supported by both the flow runs without friction. When the decay in links supported by only one player is maximal (i.e. there is no flow) we have a simple variation of Jackson and Wolinsky’s connections model assuming no decay, while when flow in those links is perfect we have Bala and Goyal’s two-way flow model without decay. We study Nash, strict Nash and pairwise Nash stability for the intermediate models. Efficiency and dynamics are also examined.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the influence of boundary dissipation on the de-cay property of solutions for a transmission problem of Kirchhoff type wave equation with boundary memory condition. In this paper, we consider the Bresse‐Cattaneo system with a frictional damping term and prove some optimal decay results for the L2‐norm of the solution and its higher order derivatives. In fact, we show that there is a completely new stability number δ that controls the decay rate of the solution. To prove our results, we use the energy method in the Fourier space to build some very delicate Lyapunov functionals that give the desired results. We also prove the optimality of the results by using the eigenvalues expansion method. In addition, we show that for the absence of the frictional damping term, the solution of our problem does not decay at all. This result improves some early results  相似文献

In this paper, we establish a generalized Hölder's or interpolation inequality for weighted spaces in which the weights are non-necessarily homogeneous. We apply it to the stabilization of some damped wave-like evolution equations. This allows obtaining explicit decay rates for smooth solutions for more general classes of damping operators. In particular, for 1−d models, we can give an explicit decay estimate for pointwise damping mechanisms supported on any strategic point.  相似文献

By combining the Csorgo-Révész quantile transform methods and the Skorohod-Strassen martingale embedding theorem, we prove a strong approximation theorem for quasi-associated random variables with mean zero and finite (2 + δ)th moment under polynomial decay rate. We introduce bendlets, a shearlet-like system that is based on anisotropic scaling, translation, shearing, and bending of a compactly supported generator. With shearing being linear and bending quadratic in spatial coordinates, bendlets provide what we term a second-order shearlet system. As we show in this article, the decay rates of the associated transform enable the precise characterization of location, orientation and curvature of discontinuities in piecewise constant images. These results yield an improvement over existing directional representation systems where curvature only controls the constant of the decay rate of the transform. We also detail the construction of shearlet systems of arbitrary order. A practical implementation of bendlets is provided as an extension of the ShearLab toolbox, which we use to verify our theoretical classification results.  相似文献

We consider weakly coupled map lattices with a decaying interaction. That is, we consider systems which consist of a phase space at every site such that the dynamics at a site is little affected by the dynamics at far away sites.We develop a functional analysis framework which formulates quantitatively the decay of the interaction and is able to deal with lattices such that the sites are manifolds. This framework is very well suited to study systematically invariant objects. One obtains that the invariant objects are essentially local.We use this framework to prove a stable manifold theorem and show that the manifolds are as smooth as the maps and have decay properties (i.e. the derivatives of one of the coordinates of the manifold with respect to the coordinates at far away sites are small). Other applications of the framework are the study of the structural stability of maps with decay close to uncoupled possessing hyperbolic sets and the decay properties of the invariant manifolds of their hyperbolic sets, in the companion paper by Fontich et al. In this paper, we consider a Timoshenko system in the presence of an infinite memory, where the relaxation function satisfies a relation of the form Under the same hypothesis on g and ξ imposed for the finite memory case, we establish some general decay results for the equal and nonequal speed propagation cases. In this work, we analyze the existence, uniqueness, and asymptotic behavior of solution to the model of a thermoelastic mixture of type III. We establish sufficient conditions to guarantee the exponential decay of solutions.
