This paper is an extension of an earlier paper that dealt with global dynamics in autonomous triangular maps. In the current paper, we extend the results on global dynamics of autonomous triangular maps to periodic non-autonomous triangular maps. We show that, under certain conditions, the orbit of every point in a periodic non-autonomous triangular map converges to a fixed point (respectively, periodic orbit of period p) if and only if there is no periodic orbit of prime period two (respectively, periodic orbits of prime period greater than p).  相似文献

Let G be a polycyclic group. As a consequence of known results, any periodic group of automorphisms of G is finite and there is an upper bound (depending only on G) for its order. On the other hand, a periodic semigroup of endomorphisms of G need not be finite but we prove that it is locally finite. Also we show that the order of periodic endomorphisms of G is bounded.  相似文献

A Newtonian equation in the plane is considered. There is a central force (attractive or repulsive) and an external force λh(t), periodic in time. The periodic second primitive of h(t) defines a planar curve and the number of periodic solutions of the differential equation is linked to the number of loops of this curve, at least when the parameter λ is large.  相似文献

In this paper, we have obtained the necessary and sufficient condition for the set of points at infinity on the plane R 2 to be a periodic orbit which is called an equatorial periodic orbit of a planar vector field X(x), and the formulae about the multiplicity of the equatorial periodic orbit of X(x). We study the existence, uniqueness, and asymptotic stability of time periodic traveling wave solutions to a periodic diffusive Lotka–Volterra competition system. Under certain conditions, we prove that there exists a maximal wave speed c? such that for each wave speed c?c?, there is a time periodic traveling wave connecting two semi-trivial periodic solutions of the corresponding kinetic system. It is shown that such a traveling wave is unique modulo translation and is monotone with respect to its co-moving frame coordinate. We also show that the traveling wave solutions with wave speed c<c? are asymptotically stable in certain sense. In addition, we establish the nonexistence of time periodic traveling waves for nonzero speed c>c?.  相似文献

A new numerical-analytic algorithm for the investigation of periodic solutions of nonlinear periodic systems of differential equations dx/dt = A(t) x+ ƒ(t, x) in the critical case is developed. The problem of the existence of solutions and their approximate construction is studied. This paper is on the angle–frequency localization of periodic scaling functions and wavelets. It is shown that the uncertainty products of uniformly local, uniformly regular and uniformly stable scaling functions and wavelets are uniformly bounded from above by a constant. Results for the construction of such scaling functions and wavelets are also obtained. As an illustration, scaling functions and wavelets associated with a family of generalized periodic splines are studied. This family is generated by periodic weighted convolutions, and it includes the well‐known periodic B‐splines and trigonometric B‐splines. An a priori error estimate using a so called α,β‐ periodic transformation to study electromagnetic waves in a periodic diffraction grating is derived. It has been reported for single scattering that there is an instability in numerical methods for high wavenumbers. To address this problem, the analytical solution of the scattering problem when the domain is scatterer free and an unknown function called the α,β‐quasi periodic solution are used to transform the associated Helmholtz problem. The well‐posedness of the resulting continuous problem is analysed before approximating its solution using a finite element discretization. To guarantee the uniqueness of this approximate solution, an a priori error estimate is derived. Finally, numerical results are presented that suggest that the α,β‐quasi periodic method converges at a far lower number of degrees of freedom than the α,0‐quasi periodic method reported previously; especially for high wavenumbers. This is particularly true when the incident wave only undergoes a small perturbation because of the presence of the scatterer. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The existance of nontrivial (x=0( periodic solutions of a general class of periodic nonlinear difference equations is proved using bifurcation theory methods. Specifically, the existance of a global continuum of nontrivial periodicsolutions that bifurcates from the trivial solution (x=0) is proved. Conditions are given under which the nontrivial solutions are positive. A prerrequisite Fredholm and adjoint operator theory for linear periodic systems is developed. In this paper we survey recent results on the decay of periodic and almost periodic solutions of conservation laws. We also recall some recent results on the global existence of periodic solutions of conservation laws systems which lie inBV loc and are constructed through Glimm scheme. The latter motivates a discussion on a possible strategy for solving the open problem of the global existence of periodic solutions of the Euler equations for nonisentropic gas dynamics. We base our decay analysis on a general result about space-time functions which are almost periodic in the space variable, established here for the first time. This result is an abstract version of Theorem 2.1 in [31], which in turn is an extention of the combined result given by Theorems 3.1–3.2 in [9].  相似文献

In this paper, by means of ourZ p index theory developed recently we study the existence of multiple periodic solutions for asymptotically linear nonautonomous wave equations. All previous known results rely either on the oddness of nonlinear terms, or on autonomous systems, and the best result for the general case is the existence of two nontrivial periodic solutions (Amann, Zehnder, K. C. Chang, S. P. Wu, S. J. Li, Z. Q. Wang). In this paper, under the assumption that the nonlinear term isT/p periodic we discuss multiple periodic solutions of nonautonomous systems and generalize a series of previous results.This research was supported in part by the National Postdoctoral Science Fund.  相似文献

Summary The search for almost periodic solutions of any dissipative equation of the form(1.1), in which p(t) is an almost periodic function, has come to be closely linked up with a number of standard ? convergence ? restrictions on f, g′, g″ and k (see, for example,[2] and[3]). The object of the present paper is to show that as far as the existence, alone, of an almost periodic solution of(1.1) is concerned these ? convergence ? restrictions on f, g′, g″ and k are quite unnecessary. The first result (Theorem 1) shows in fact that the conditions(1.2) alone are quite sufficient for the existence of an almost periodic solution of(1.1); and Theorem 2 extends this result (though under stronger conditions on f and g) to the case in which the forcing function depends on x and x as well. In this paper, we study a new class of functions, which we call (ω,c)-asymptotically periodic functions. This collection includes asymptotically periodic, asymptotically antiperiodic, asymptotically Bloch-periodic, and unbounded functions. We prove that the set conformed by these functions is a Banach space with a suitable norm. Furthermore, we show several properties of this class of functions as the convolution invariance. We present some examples and a composition result. As an application, we prove the existence and uniqueness of (ω,c)-asymptotically periodic mild solutions to the first-order abstract Cauchy problem on the real line. Also, we establish some sufficient conditions for the existence of positive (ω,c)-asymptotically periodic solutions to the Lasota-Wazewska equation with unbounded oscillating production of red cells.  相似文献

The Allen-Cahn equation ? Δu = u ? u 3 in ?2 has family of trivial singly periodic solutions that come from the one dimensional periodic solutions of the problem ?u″ =u ? u 3. In this paper we construct a non-trivial family of singly periodic solutions to the Allen-Cahn equation. Our construction relies on the connection between this equation and the infinite Toda lattice. We show that for each one-soliton solution to the infinite Toda lattice we can find a singly periodic solution to the Allen-Cahn equation, such that its level set is close to the scaled one-soliton. The solutions we construct are analogues of the family of Riemann minimal surfaces in ?3.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the optimal model reduction for linear discrete periodic time-varying systems and digital filters. Specifically, for a given stable periodic time-varying model, we shall seek a lower order periodic time-varying model to approximate the original model in an optimal H 2 norm sense. By orthogonal projections of the original model, we convert the optimal periodic model reduction problem into an unconstrained optimization problem. Two effective algorithms are then developed to solve the optimization problem. The algorithms ensure that the H 2 cost decreases monotonically and converges to an optimal (local) solution. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the computational efficiency of the proposed method. The present paper extends the optimal model reduction for linear time invariant systems to linear periodic discrete time-varying systems.  相似文献

In queueing theory, most models are based on time-homogeneous arrival processes and service time distributions. However, in communication networks arrival rates and/or the service capacity usually vary periodically in time. In order to reflect this property accurately, one needs to examine periodic rather than homogeneous queues. In the present paper, the periodic BMAP/PH/c queue is analyzed. This queue has a periodic BMAP arrival process, which is defined in this paper, and phase-type service time distributions. As a Markovian queue, it can be analysed like an (inhomogeneous) Markov jump process. The transient distribution is derived by solving the Kolmogorov forward equations. Furthermore, a stability condition in terms of arrival and service rates is proven and for the case of stability, the asymptotic distribution is given explicitly. This turns out to be a periodic family of probability distributions. It is sketched how to analyze the periodic BMAP/M t /c queue with periodically varying service rates by the same method.  相似文献
