Microscopic expressions for the long-wavelength excitations of a classical electron gas have been established valid to all orders in the density, charge and plasma expansion parameter. The strengths with which these excitations appear in various space-time autocorrelation functions have also been calculated. Throughout, contact with the corresponding results for neutral particles has been established and their differences discussed. Most notably hereby is the difference between the heat mode of neutral- and charged-particle systems as well as the weak strength with which this mode appears in the correlation functions of the latter systems.  相似文献

The long wavelength modes of a system of two kinds of particles are studied starting from first principles while accounting for the presence of Coulomb interactions. It is shown that in order to cope with the Coulomb singularity the use of two-fluid hydrodynamical variables is indicated. Microscopic expressions for the various hydrodynamical modes as well as a number of interspecies relaxation modes are obtained for arbitrary density and coupling. In this paper only the transverse modes are considered. The results for the longitudinal modes as well as their contribution to a number of correlation functions will be considered in two compagnon papers.  相似文献

We analytically evaluate charge and spin density response functions of the clean two-dimensional electron gas with Rashba spin-orbit coupling at finite momenta and frequencies. On the basis of our exact expressions we discuss the accuracy of the long-wavelength and the quasiclassical approximations. We also derive the static limit of spin susceptibilities and demonstrate, in particular, how the Kohn-like anomalies in their derivatives are related to the spin-orbit modification of the Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida interaction. Taking into account screening and exchange effects of the Coulomb interaction, we describe the collective charge and spin density excitation modes which appear to be coupled due to nonvanishing spin-charge response function.  相似文献

We calculate the one-particle hadronic spectra and correlation functions of pions based on a hydrodynamical model. Parameters in the model are so chosen that the one-particle spectra reproduce experimental results of √s= 130 AGeV Au + Au collisions at RHIC. Based on the numerical solution, we discuss the space-time evolution of the fluid. Two-pion correlation functions are also discussed. Our numerical solution suggests the formation of the quark-gluon plasma with large volume and low net baryon density.  相似文献

基于扩展的自旋反转模型,对光反馈诱发下长波长垂直腔面发射激光器中的低功耗偏振开关进行了理论研究.研究表明:长波长垂直腔面发射激光器在自由运行下未能获得的偏振开关现象,可以通过引入中等强度的偏振旋转光反馈来实现.对比强弱两种不同的线性色散效应,发现了一些有趣的现象:弱线性色散条件下更易于在低注入电流下获得偏振开关,并且产生偏振开关所需的反馈强度具有更大的调控范围;强色散效应中未能始终获得偏振开关,会出现两模共存区,并且偏振开关出现的注入电流值较高.同时,观察到的偏振模跳变和多偏振开关现象类似于短波长垂直腔面发射激光器,因而证实这两类激光器在偏振开关的本质规律上是相似的.此外,还对长波长垂直腔面发射激光器不易在低注入电流下获得偏振开关的原因进行了分析,并给出了合理的解释.  相似文献

We study the existence conditions for the thermodynamic limit in the chain of BBGKY equations for the equilibrium correlation functions of a charged plasma. It is shown that in order for the thermodynamic limit to exist the charge of the plasma cannot increase faster than the surface area of the plasma. When this condition is satisfied the equilibrium correlation functions of the charged plasma are asymptotically identical to the correlation functions of a neutral plasma in a self-consistent electrostatic field, which depends only on the one-particle correlation functions. For a plasma which is uniform everywhere except in a thin surface region, this field is found in explicit form. Predominantly preliminary single and double inclusive momentum spectra of 158 AGeV Pb+Pb collisions, recently measured by the NA44 and NA49 Collaborations, are reproduced using the relativistic hydrodynamical model HYLANDER-C. Two different equations of state, which both contain a phase transition to a quark-gluon plasma, can be used to reproduce the (preliminary) data. The space-time geometries in the two calculations differ strongly. However, the Bose-Einstein correlation functions of identical pion pairs do not show such a strong, but still a significant sensitivity to the effects of the equations of state.  相似文献

Using an exact Bethe ansatz solution, we rigorously study excitation spectra of the spin-1/2 Fermi gas (called Yang–Gaudin model) with an attractive interaction. Elementary excitations of this model involve particle-hole excitation, hole excitation and adding particles in the Fermi seas of pairs and unpaired fermions. The gapped magnon excitations in the spin sector show a ferromagnetic coupling to the Fermi sea of the single fermions. By numerically and analytically solving the Bethe ansatz equations and the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations of this model, we obtain excitation energies for various polarizations in the phase of the Fulde–Ferrell–Larkin–Ovchinnikov-like state. For a small momentum (long-wavelength limit) and in the strong interaction regime, we analytically obtained their linear dispersions with curvature corrections, effective masses as well as velocities in particle-hole excitations of pairs and unpaired fermions. Such a type of particle-hole excitations display a novel separation of collective motions of bosonic modes within paired and unpaired fermions. Finally, we also discuss magnon excitations in the spin sector and the application of Bragg spectroscopy for testing such separated charge excitation modes of pairs and single fermions.  相似文献

The dispersion relation for long-wavelength transverse plasma weves propagating in a one-component relativistic quantum plasma is derived from the relativistic Boltzmann-Vlasov equation. The result is consistent with the one obtained from quantum electrodynamics by the method of dielectric response, but at variance with hydrodynamical calculations. The discrepancy is explained by making a distinction between collective and collision dominated plasmas.  相似文献

It is shown that the diagrammatic cluster expansion technique for equilibrium averages of spin operators may be straightforwardly extended to the calculation of time-dependent correlation functions of spin operators. We use this technique to calculate exactly the first two non-vanishing moments of the spin-spin and energy-energy correlation functions of the XY model with arbitrary couplings, in the long-wavelength, infinite temperature limit appropriate for spin diffusion. These moments are then used to estimate the magnetization and spin-spin energy diffusion coefficients of the model using a phenomenological theory of Redfield. Qualitative agreement is obtained with recent experiments measuring diffusion of dipolar energy in calcium fluoride.  相似文献

The density of ions trapped in a harmonic potential in one dimension is not uniform. Consequently the eigenmodes are not phononlike waves. We calculate the long-wavelength modes in the continuum limit, and evaluate the density of states in the short-wavelength limit for chains of N>1 ions. Remarkably, the results that are found analytically in the thermodynamic limit provide a good estimate of the spectrum of excitations of small chains down to few tens of ions. The spectra are used to compute the thermodynamic functions of the chain. Deviations from the extensivity of the thermodynamic quantities are found. An analytic expression for the critical transverse frequency determining the stability of a linear chain is derived.  相似文献

We investigate current-current correlation functions, or the so-called response functions of a two-flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasino model at finite temperature and density. The linear response is investigated introducing the conjugated gauge fields as external sources within the functional path integral approach. The response functions can be obtained by expanding the generational functional in powers of the external sources. We derive the response functions parallel to two well-established approximations for equilibrium thermodynamics, namely mean-field theory and a beyond-mean-field theory, taking into account mesonic contributions. Response functions based on the mean-field theory recover the so-called quasiparticle random phase approximation. We calculate the dynamical structure factors for the density responses in various channels within the random phase approximation, showing that the dynamical structure factors in the baryon axial vector and isospin axial vector channels can be used to reveal the quark mass gap and the Mott dissociation of mesons, respectively. Noting that the mesonic contributions are not taken into account in the random phase approximation, we also derive the response functions parallel to the beyond-mean-field theory. We show that the mesonic fluctuations naturally give rise to three kinds of famous diagrammatic contributions: the Aslamazov-Lakin contribution, the self-energy or density-of-state contribution, and the Maki-Thompson contribution.Unlike the equilibrium case, in evaluating the fluctuation contributions, we need to carefully treat the linear terms in external sources and the induced perturbations. In the chiral symmetry breaking phase, we find an additional chiral order parameter induced contribution, which ensures that the temporal component of the response functions in the static and long-wavelength limit recovers the correct charge susceptibility defined using the equilibrium thermodynamic quantities. These contributions from mesonic fluctuations are expected to have significant effects on the transport properties of hot and dense matter around the chiral phase transition or crossover, where the mesonic degrees of freedom are still important.  相似文献

The correlation function of non-identical particles is sensitive to the relative space-time asymmetries in particle emission. Analysing pion-kaon, pion-proton and kaon-proton correlation functions, measured in the Au+Au collisions by the STAR experiment at RHIC, we show that pions, kaons and protons are not emitted at the same average space-time coordinates. The shifts between pion, kaon and proton sources are consistent with the picture of a transverse collective flow. Results of the first measurement of proton-lambda correlations at STAR are in agreement with recent CERN and AGS data.  相似文献

利用多散射方法研究了长波条件下二维声子晶体中弹性波的传播特性.由长波条件下散射体幂散射特性和结构周期特性分析得到了等效波速的解析表达式.通过对幂散射波各阶分波之间由于结构周期特性而产生的耦合作用进行分析,发现幂散射波的正负二阶分量之间的耦合作用具有明显的方向性,长波条件下弹性波的传播特性是否具有各向异性取决于幂散射波的二阶分量在多散射过程中是否有明显的作用.  相似文献

An approximate method is developed for investigating the nature of interface exciton modes in a composite spatially dispersive medium. The method is general enough to be applicable to any composite system, in which each component is described by an arbitrary bulk dielectric functionε(q, ω). It is based on the extension of the usual electrostatic-image method of solving the Poisson’s equation, in the presence of an external point charge in the system. We have applied our general method to a composite system of a finite metal slab surrounded by a semiconductor on one side and the vacuum on the other side. Similarly, we have also considered the case of a metallic sphere of radiusR, surrounded by a semiconductor, with a spherical interface between them. With assumed spatially dispersive model dielectric functions for the bulk metal and the bulk semiconductor, the nature of the electron-electron interaction and the interface exciton modes in the metallic region are obtained in both the cases. For the relevant size of the metal large compared to the atomic dimensions over which the bulk dielectric functions are non-local due to the spatial dispersion, it is shown that one can obtain the interface exciton modes by first defining new effective dielectric functions for each of the media making the particular interface, and then using the usual expression which determines the modes in the non-dispersive case.  相似文献

The extended Airy kernel describes the space-time correlation functions for the Airy process, which is the limiting process for a polynuclear growth model. The Airy functions themselves are given by integrals in which the exponents have a cubic singularity, arising from the coalescence of two saddle points in an asymptotic analysis. Pearcey functions are given by integrals in which the exponents have a quartic singularity, arising from the coalescence of three saddle points. A corresponding Pearcey kernel appears in a random matrix model and a Brownian motion model for a fixed time. This paper derives an extended Pearcey kernel by scaling the Brownian motion model at several times, and a system of partial differential equations whose solution determines associated distribution functions. We expect there to be a limiting nonstationary process consisting of infinitely many paths, which we call the Pearcey process, whose space-time correlation functions are expressible in terms of this extended kernel.  相似文献

The non-linear models in two space-time dimensions corresponding to compact homogeneous coset spacesG/H are studied with particular attention to three problems: first, independence of coordinate choice and regularization, second, the physical content of the theory, and finally the regularity of the physics in the infrared limit. Concerning in particular the physical content of the theory, we construct a set of local observables whose correlation functions depend on a finite number of parameters identified among those defining the metric tensor of the coset space. For these models, we give a general proof of renormalizability based on the introduction of a nilpotent BRS operator which describes the non-linear isometries and a classical action which contains a mass term for all quantized fields. The mass term belongs to a finite dimensional representation of the groupG, which allows us to prove the conjecture that the correlation functions of local observables, i.e., the local operators invariant underG, are regular in the infrared limit.  相似文献

Resonant inelastic light scattering experiments at nu = 1/3 reveal a novel splitting of the long-wavelength modes in the low energy spectrum of quasi-particle excitations in the charge degree of freedom. We find a single peak at small wave vectors that splits into two distinct modes at larger wave vectors. The evidence of well-defined dispersive behavior at small wave vectors indicates a coherence of the quantum fluid in the micron length scale. We evaluate interpretations of long-wavelength modes of the electron liquid.  相似文献
