This paper solves the machine interference problem in which N automatic machines are maintained by a team of r operatives. Repair times are assumed to follow a negative exponential distribution, and running times for each of the machines are assumed to be independently and identically distributed. It is shown that the solution to this G/M/r model is identical in most important respects to that for the M/M/r model. 相似文献

In this paper we analyze the convergence to steady state of solutions of the compressible and the incompressible isentropic Euler equations in two space dimensions. In the compressible case, the original equations do not converge. We replace the equation of continuity with an elliptic equation for the density, obtaining a new set of equations, which have the same steady solution. In the incompressible case, the equation of continuity is replaced by a Poisson equation for the pressure. In both cases, we linearize the equations around a steady solution and show that the unsteady solution of the linearized equations converges to the steady solution, if the steady solution is sufficiently smooth. In the proof we consider how the energy of the time dependent part developes with time, and find that it decrease exponentially. 相似文献

In this paper, bifurcation and stability of two kinds of constant stationary solutions for non-reversible amplitude equations on a bounded domain with Neumann boundary conditions are investigated by using the perturbation theory and weak nonlinear analysis. The asymptotic behaviors and local properties of two explicit steady state solutions, and pitch-fork bifurcations are also obtained if the bounded domain is regarded as a parameter. In addition, the stability of a new increasing or decaying local steady state solution with oscillations are analyzed. 相似文献

We prove the well-posedness of the Cauchy problem governed by a linear mono-energetic singular transport equation (i.e., transport equation with unbounded collision frequency and unbounded collision operator) with specular reflecting and periodic boundary conditions on Lp spaces. The large time behaviour of its solution is also considered. We discuss the compactness properties of the second-order remainder term of the Dyson-Phillips expansion for a large class of singular collision operators. This allows us to evaluate the essential type of the transport semigroup from which the asymptotic behaviour of the solution is derived. 相似文献

In this paper projection methods based on expansions of solutions of retarded function differential equations in terms of generalized eigenfunctions are considered. It is first shown that the projection series developed earlier by Hale and Shimanov and those considered by Bellman and Cooke are actually the same. Using extensions of the residue-type arguments of Bellman and Cooke, convergence results are then established for a class of perturbed systems. These results are applied to obtain approximations to optimal controls for certain infinite dimensional variational problems. Numerical results are presented for several examples. 相似文献

This study discusses a mixture inventory model with back orders and lost sales in which the order quantity, reorder point, lead time and setup cost are decision variables. It is assumed that an arrival order lot may contain some defective items and the number of defective items is a random variable. There are two inventory models proposed in this paper, one with normally distributed demand and another with distribution free demand. Finally we develop two computational algorithms to obtain the optimal ordering policy. A computer code using the software Matlab is developed to derive the optimal solution and present numerical examples to illustrate the models. Additionally, sensitivity analysis is conducted with respect to the various system parameters. 相似文献

The convergence to steady state solutions of the Euler equations for weighted compact nonlinear schemes (WCNS) [Deng X. and Zhang H. (2000), J. Comput. Phys. 165, 22-44 and Zhang S., Jiang S. and Shu C.-W. (2008), J. Comput. Phys. 227, 7294-7321] is studied through numerical tests. Like most other shock capturing schemes, WCNS also suffers from the problem that the residue can not settle down to machine zero for the computation of the steady state solution which contains shock waves but hangs at the truncation error level. In this paper, the techniques studied in [Zhang S. and Shu. C.-W. (2007), J. Sci. Comput. 31, 273-305 and Zhang S., Jiang S and Shu. C.-W. (2011), J. Sci. Comput. 47, 216-238], to improve the convergence to steady state solutions for WENO schemes, are generalized to the WCNS. Detailed numerical studies in one and two dimensional cases are performed. Numerical tests demonstrate the effectiveness of these techniques when applied to WCNS. The residue of various order WCNS can settle down to machine zero for typical cases while the small post-shock oscillations can be removed. 相似文献

A new upper bound is provided for the L-norm of the difference between the viscosity solution of a model steady state Hamilton-Jacobi equation, , and any given approximation, . This upper bound is independent of the method used to compute the approximation ; it depends solely on the values that the residual takes on a subset of the domain which can be easily computed in terms of . Numerical experiments investigating the sharpness of the a posteriori error estimate are given.
