The aim of this paper is to analyze a “support-free” version of the Riesz-Haviland theorem proved recently by the present authors, which characterizes truncations of the complex moment problem via positivity condition on appropriate families of polynomials in z and . The attention is focused on modifications of the positivity condition as well as the assumption on admissible truncations. The former results in truncations for which the corresponding “support-free” Riesz-Haviland condition locates a representing measure on the distinguished subset of the complex plane, while the latter effects a non-integral variant of the Riesz-Haviland theorem.  相似文献

In this paper, we present extensions to the generalized moment theorem and apply it to optimal control problems for a certain class of distributed-parameter systems. We also apply it to the time-optimal control problem and extend the results of Ref. 1 pertaining to the largest controllable set, so that we can discuss the problem of recoverability for some distributed-parameter systems.The author wishes to express his gratitude to Professor P. We consider the linear model of a slowly rotating Timoshenko beam in a horizontal plane whose moment is controlled by the angular acceleration of the disk of the driving motor into which the beam is clamped. This work complements our previous results on the controllability of the beam from a position of rest into another position of rest; we give a method of construction of a piecewise constant control solving the problem.  相似文献

The main theme of this paper is the discussion of a parametrized family of solutions of a finite moment problem for rational matrix‐valued functions in the nondegenerate case. We will show that each member of this family is extremal in several directions concerning some point of the open unit disk. These investigations are inspired by the authors' paper [23], where a similar topic is studied in the context of the matricial Carathéodory problem. Using the smallest eigenvalues of Hankel forms associated with a multidimensional moment problem, we establish a condition equivalent to the existence of a reproducing kernel. This result is a multivariate analogue of Berg, Chen, and Ismail's 2002 result. We also present a class of measures for which the existence of a reproducing kernel implies indeterminacy.

We introduce and study matrix Christoffel functions for a matrix weight W. We find an explicit expression of the matrix Christoffel functions in terms of any sequence of orthonormal matrix polynomials with respect to W. An extremal property related to the matrix moment problem defined by W is established for the matrix Christoffel functions. We finally find the relative asymptotic behavior of the matrix Christoffel functions associated to matrix weights in the matrix Nevai class.  相似文献

How much information does the sequence of integer moments carry about the corresponding unknown absolutely continuous distribution? We prove that a reliable evaluation of the corresponding Shannon entropy can be done by exploiting some known theoretical results on the entropy convergence, uniquely involving exact moments without solving the underlying moment problem. All the procedure essentially rests on the solution of linear systems, with nearly singular matrices, and hence it requires both calculations in high precision and a pre-conditioning technique. Numerical examples are provided to support the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the reconstruction of the wave field in a bounded domain. By choosing a special family of functions, the Cauchy problem can be transformed into a Fourier moment problem. This problem is ill-posed. We propose a regularization method for obtaining an approximate solution to the wave field on the unspecified boundary. We also give the convergence analysis and error estimate of the numerical algorithm. Finally, we present some numerical examples to show the effectiveness of this method.  相似文献

We provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the representability of a function as the classical multidimensional Laplace transform, when the support of the representing measure is contained in some generalized semi-algebraic set. This is done by employing a method of Putinar and Vasilescu [M. Putinar, F.-H. Vasilescu, Solving moment problems by dimensional extension, Ann. of Math. Different existence conditions of the Maximum Entropy solution to finite Hausdorff moment problem have been formulated in literature. Through a counterexample we prove that the most cited one is uncorrect. We do not bound ourselves to a crude counterexample, as we think that a detailed explanation is of interest by itself. It clarifies the difference existing between the finite and infinite Hausdorff moment problem existence conditions.  相似文献

The probability measureP O on multidimensional intervals in the extension of the Edmundson-Madansky upper bound for stochastically dependent random variables, derived recently in [7], is shown to be the uniquely determined extremal solution of a particular multivariate moment problem. We consider the problem to reconstruct the mass distribution of a string where the mass is concentrated in a finite number of points, or, equivalently, the problem to reconstruct a simply connected mass spring system with unknown masses and stiffness parameters if the following data are given. Problem 1: The spectra of the string and of a modification of the string, or. Problem 2: The spectra of two different modifications of the string. Here a modification of the string is a string which appears if we link the unknown string with another string of known mass distribution. The paper contains a necessary condition for the existence of a solution of Problem 1, and explicit formulas and an algorithm for the solutions of the Problems 1 and 2 under the condition that there exists a solution. For the case that the mass distribution of the unknown string is not discrete we consider the problem to find discrete approximations of this distribution from the respective spectral data. The methods are based on the spectral theory of generalized second order differential operators as developed by M. G. Krein  相似文献

We formulate several mathematical modifications of the Pauli problem of recovering the particle state from the results of measuring its coordinates and momenta, including the most abstract statement of the problem for two projection-valued measures. We describe how the Pauli problem reduces to the problem of finding the eigenvectors of certain operators. We obtain linear continuous operators providing a solution to the Stieltjes moment problem in the framework of Gelfand–Shilov spaces of rapidly decreasing smooth functions. The construction rests on an interpolation procedure due to R. Estrada for general rapidly decreasing smooth functions, and adapted by S.-Y. Chung, D. Kim and Y. Yeom to the case of Gelfand–Shilov spaces. It requires a linear continuous version of the so-called Borel–Ritt–Gevrey theorem in asymptotic theory.  相似文献
