Let G be a connected graph. For at distance 2, we define , and , if then . G is quasi-claw-free if it satisfies , and G is P 3-dominated() if it satisfies , for every pair (x, y) of vertices at distance 2. Certainly contains as a subclass. In this paper, we prove that the circumference of a 2-connected P 3-dominated graph G on n vertices is at least min or , moreover if then G is hamiltonian or , where is a class of 2-connected nonhamiltonian graphs.  相似文献

The unbalance of an intersecting family is defined as , where is the maximum degree of i.e. the maximum of over all vertices x. We show that the unbalance of a k-uniform intersecting family is at most when n ≥ 6k 3 and we determine all families achieving this bound.  相似文献

On a partially ordered set G the orthogonality relation is defined by incomparability and is a complete orthocomplemented lattice of double orthoclosed sets. We will prove that the atom space of the lattice has the same order structure as G. Thus if G is a partially ordered set (an ordered group, or an ordered vector space), then is a canonically partially ordered set (an ordered quotient group, or an ordered quotient vector space, respectively). We will also prove: if G is an ordered group with a positive cone P, then the lattice has the covering property iff , where g is an element of G and M is the intersection of all maximal subgroups contained in . Let G = (V, E) be a any simple, undirected graph on n ≥ 3 vertices with the degree sequence . We consider the class of graphs satisfying the condition where , is a positive integer. It is known that is hamiltonian if θ ≤ δ. In this paper,
(i)  we give a necessary and sufficient condition, easy to check, ensuring that is nonhamiltonian and we characterize all the exceptional sub-classes.
(ii)  we prove that is either bipartite or contains cycles of all lengths from 3 to c(G), the length of a longest cycle in G.

Let V be a quadratic space with a form q over an arbitrary local field F of characteristic different from 2. Let with the form Q extending q with Q(e) = 1. Consider the standard embedding and the two-sided action of on . In this note we show that any -invariant distribution on is invariant with respect to transposition. This result was earlier proven in a bit different form in van Dijk (Math Z 193:581–593, 1986) for , in Aparicio and van Dijk (Complex generalized Gelfand pairs. Tambov University, 2006) for and in Bosman and van Dijk (Geometriae Dedicata 50:261–282, 1994) for p-adic fields. Here we give a different proof. Using results from Aizenbud et al. (arXiv:0709.1273 (math.RT), submitted), we show that this result on invariant distributions implies that the pair (O(V), O(W)) is a Gelfand pair. In the archimedean setting this means that for any irreducible admissible smooth Fréchet representation (π, E) of we have A stronger result for p-adic fields is obtained in Aizenbud et al. Let be a finitely generated group and X its Cayley graph with respect to a finite, symmetric generating set S. Furthermore, let be a finite group and the lamplighter group (wreath product) over with group of “lamps” . We show that the spectral measure (Plancherel measure) of any symmetric “switch–walk–switch” random walk on coincides with the expected spectral measure (integrated density of states) of the random walk with absorbing boundary on the cluster of the group identity for Bernoulli site percolation on X with parameter . The return probabilities of the lamplighter random walk coincide with the expected (annealed) return probabilities on the percolation cluster. In particular, if the clusters of percolation with parameter are almost surely finite then the spectrum of the lamplighter group is pure point. This generalizes results of Grigorchuk and Żuk, resp. Dicks and Schick regarding the case when is infinite cyclic. Analogous results relate bond percolation with another lamplighter random walk. In general, the integrated density of states of site (or bond) percolation with arbitrary parameter is always related with the Plancherel measure of a convolution operator by a signed measure on , where or another suitable group. For a degree 2n real d-dimensional multisequence to have a representing measure μ, it is necessary for the associated moment matrix to be positive semidefinite and for the algebraic variety associated to β, , to satisfy rank card as well as the following consistency condition: if a polynomial vanishes on , then . We prove that for the extremal case , positivity of and consistency are sufficient for the existence of a (unique, rank -atomic) representing measure. We also show that in the preceding result, consistency cannot always be replaced by recursiveness of . We define a new differential invariant a compact manifold by , where V c (M, [g]) is the conformal volume of M for the conformal class [g], and prove that it is uniformly bounded above. The main motivation is that this bound provides a upper bound of the Friedlander-Nadirashvili invariant defined by . The proof relies on the study of the behaviour of when one performs surgeries on M.   相似文献

Let R be a commutative Noetherian ring, be an ideal of R and M be a finitely generated R-module. Melkersson and Schenzel asked whether the set becomes stable for a fixed integer i and sufficiently large j. This paper is concerned with this question. In fact, we prove that if s ≥ 0 and n ≥ 0 such that for all i with i < n, then is finite for all i with i < n, and is finite for all i with in, where for a subset T of Spec(R), we set . Also, among other things, we show that if n ≥ 0, R is semi-local and is finite for all i with i < n, then is finite for all i with in. K. We define the notion of a geometric graph in . This is a graph drawn in with its vertices drawn as points and its edges as straight line segments connecting corresponding points. We call two disjoint edges of G strongly avoiding if there exists an orthogonal projection of to a two dimensional plane H such that the projections of the two edges on H are contained in two different rays, respectively, with a common apex that create a non-acute angle. We show that a geometric graph on n vertices in with no pair of strongly avoiding edges has at most 2n − 2 edges. As a consequence we get a new proof to Vázsonyi’s conjecture about the maximum number of diameters in a set of n points in . Let G be an A-group (i.e. a group in which xx α  = x α x for all and let denote the subgroup of Aut(G) consisting of all automorphisms that leave invariant the centralizer of each element of G. The quotient is an elementary abelian 2-group and natural analogies exist to suggest that it might always be trivial. It is shown that, in fact, for any odd prime p and any positive integer r, there exist infinitely many finite pA-groups G for which has rank r. Received: 23 March 2008, Revised: 20 May 2008  相似文献

In this paper we consider a compact oriented hypersurface M n with constant mean curvature H and two distinct principal curvatures λ and μ with multiplicities (n − m) and m, respectively, immersed in the unit sphere S n+1. Denote by the trace free part of the second fundamental form of M n , and Φ be the square of the length of . We obtain two integral formulas by using Φ and the polynomial . Assume that B H,m is the square of the positive root of P H,m (x) = 0. We show that if M n is a compact oriented hypersurface immersed in the sphere S n+1 with constant mean curvatures H having two distinct principal curvatures λ and μ then either or . In particular, M n is the hypersurface .   相似文献

We consider one-dimensional difference Schr?dinger equations with real analytic function V(x). Suppose V(x) is a small perturbation of a trigonometric polynomial V 0(x) of degree k 0, and assume positive Lyapunov exponents and Diophantine ω. We prove that the integrated density of states is H?lder continuous for any k > 0. Moreover, we show that is absolutely continuous for a.e. ω. Our approach is via finite volume bounds. I.e., we study the eigenvalues of the problem on a finite interval [1, N] with Dirichlet boundary conditions. Then the averaged number of these Dirichlet eigenvalues which fall into an interval , does not exceed , k > 0. Moreover, for , this averaged number does not exceed exp , for any . For the integrated density of states of the problem this implies that for any . To investigate the distribution of the Dirichlet eigenvalues of on a finite interval [1, N] we study the distribution of the zeros of the characteristic determinants with complexified phase x, and frozen ω, E. We prove equidistribution of these zeros in some annulus and show also that no more than 2k 0 of them fall into any disk of radius exp. In addition, we obtain the lower bound (with δ > 0 arbitrary) for the separation of the eigenvalues of the Dirichlet eigenvalues over the interval [0, N]. This necessarily requires the removal of a small set of energies. Received: February 2006, Accepted: December 2007  相似文献

The main result of this paper is an exponential sum bound in prime fields for multilinear expressions of the type under nearly optimal conditions on . It provides the expected generalization of the well-known inequality for r = 2. We also establish a new result on Gauss sums for multiplicative subgroups H of , obtaining a nontrivial estimate provided . This is a further improvement on [BGK]. We prove that an immersed topological sphere in with = constant is the Wulff shape, up to translations and homotheties.   相似文献

In the geometric setting of commuting orthogonal and unitary polarities we construct an infinite family of complete (q + 1)2–spans of the Hermitian surface , q odd. A construction of an infinite family of minimal blocking sets of , q odd, admitting PSL 2(q), is also provided.   相似文献
