Light from a Nd:YAG laser at 1064 nm is independently stabilized to two Fabry-Perot etalons situated on separate vibration-isolation platforms. A heterodyne beat measurement shows their relative frequency stability to be at the part-in-10(15) level at 5 s and the relative linewidth to be less than 1 Hz.  相似文献

Highly efficient phase locking of four diode pumped Nd:YAG laser beams   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We describe the mutual phase-locking of four Nd:YAG beams longitudinally end-pumped by four fiber-coupled diode lasers. Mutual phase-locking is performed by two types of diffractive components located inside a telescopic Fabry–Perot resonator. The control of the phase-locking is shown and the different spatial eigenmodes connected with the pumping geometry in the resonator are theoretically and experimentally studied. 1.2 W is obtained in a single mode stable pattern with 30% optical-to-optical conversion efficiency in the continuous wave regime.  相似文献

We report the high efficiency of solar pumped laser. The sunlight is concentrated by the concentrator system, which is composed by the Fresnel lens and the cone-channel condenser. The power density of sunlight concentrated by the concentrator system surpasses the lasing threshold for pumping laser. In the experiment, the sunlight concentrated is coupled into the conical chamber pumping Nd:YAG laser media. Laser output of 3.5 W has been achieved; the collect efficiency is 3.5 W/m2. The conversion efficiency is 1.0% from solar power into laser, and the slope efficiency is achieved 1.86%.  相似文献

A mode-locked solid-state laser containing a birefringent element is shown to emit synchronously two frequency combs associated to the two polarization eigenstates of the cavity. An analytical model predicts the polarization evolution of the pulse train, which is determined by the adjustable intracavity birefringence. Experiments realized with a Nd:YAG laser passively mode locked by a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror are in perfect agreement with the model. Locking between the two combs arises for particular values of their frequency difference, e.g., half the repetition rate, and the pulse train polarization sequence is then governed by the relative overall phase offset of the two combs.  相似文献

The nitridation of titanium (Ti) caused by a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser under nitrogen gas atmosphere was investigated in situ using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). A laser having a wavelength of 1064 nm and 532 nm (SHG mode) was irradiated on a titanium substrate in an atmosphere-controlled chamber, and the substrate was then transported to an XPS analysis chamber without exposing it to air. The characteristics of the surface layer strongly depend on the laser power. When the power is relatively low, a titanium dioxide layer containing a small amount of nitrogen is formed on the substrate. Laser irradiation beyond a certain laser power is required to obtain a stoichiometric titanium nitride (TiN) layer. A TiN layer and an oxynitride layer with a TiOxNy-like structure are formed as the topmost and the lower surface layer, respectively, when the laser power exceeds this threshold value. The threshold laser power strongly depends on the wavelength of the laser, and this threshold value for the 532-nm laser is quite lower than that for the 1064-nm laser.  相似文献

We present a compact diode- and end-pumped Nd:YAG laser for material processing with an output power of 238 W, an optical-to-optical efficiency of 48% and a slope efficiency of 60%. Additive pulse mode locking applied to lamppumped Nd: YAG lasers results in an attractive source of picosecond pulses at 1.06 m or 1.32 m with average powers at the Watt level. We provide detailed information on construction and operation and give data on performance. Continuous-Wave (CW) diode-laser-pumped experiments using rotating Nd: YAG disk(s) have been performed in the input-power range of 1–6 W and rotation-speed range of 0–25 Hz. With a single Nd: YAG disk in the laser cavity, about 1.56 W of output power at 1.06 µm due to the Nd3+ (4 F 3/24 I 11/2) transition at an absorbed input power of 4.2 W has been observed, leading to an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of over 37% and slope efficiency of 52% using 7.5% transmission output coupler. The laser output power has been observed to decrease by either increasing the number of Nd:YAG disks in the cavity or increasing the rotation speed of the disk(s).  相似文献

We demonstrated a diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser with a plano-concave resonator. When the pump power is 1.57 W, the output power of 1123-nm laser is 132 mW at the temperature of 20 ℃, and the power change is less than 2% in an hour. A periodically poled LiNbOa (PPLN) was used as outer cavity frequency-doubling crystal and 561-nm laser was observed.  相似文献

Single frequency operation of a Nd:YAG laser is obtained with a temperature-compensated, sealed intracavity etalon which is optimized with respect to selectivity and loss by taking spatial hole burning of the laser medium into account. For stabilization purposes we calculate the response of the laser when (i) the etalon's thickness is modulated and when (ii) the laser cavity length is modulated. We find orders of magnitude better stability for (i) and demonstrate the feasibility of a system with 100 mW output power, a longterm frequency stability of 3×10?9, and an intensity stability of 10?4.  相似文献

The interaction phenomena of nanosecond time period Q-switched diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser pulses using 1064, 532 and 355 nm with 0.25 mm thick pure-copper foil was investigated at an incident laser intensity range of 0.5–57.9 GW/cm2. For each sample, etch rate and surface structure were determined. Analysis of the results of the tests included scanning electron microscopy (SEM). A maximum etch rate of 13.3 μm per pulse was obtained for the etch rate tests carried out at 532 nm. The maximum etch rate obtainable for 1064 nm was 2.21 μm per pulse, and for 355 nm, 6.68 μm per pulse. The dramatic decrease in etch rate observed when processing at 1064 nm is thought to occur due the highly reflective nature of copper as the interaction wavelength is increased, plus the nature of the plasma formed above the material during the high-intensity laser–material interaction. This plasma then imparts energy to the surface of the processed area leading to surface melting of the area surrounding the hole as can be seen by the SEM photographs.  相似文献

A long train of actively mode-locked pulses is obtained from a negative feedback controlled Nd:YAG laser. The 70s pulse train contains up to 0.1 J energy and the duration of the picosecond pulses is 120 ps. The laser is operated at a repetition rate of 20 Hz. ActiveQ-control of the cavity generates a short pulse train of duration 50 to 70 ns. An excellent peak-to-background intensity ratio of the correlation function for the picosecond pulses in the train of 5×103 is reported.  相似文献

A corner-pumped type is a new pumping type in the diode-pumped all-solid-state lasers, which has the advantages of high pump efficiency and favourable pump uniformity. A highly efficient corner-pumped Nd:YAG/YAG composite slab laser is demonstrated in this paper. The maximal continuous-wave output power of the 1064~nm laser is up to 18.57~W with a slope efficiency and an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 44.9{\%} and 39.8{\%}, respectively. Inserting an acousto-optic $Q$-switch in the cavity, the highest average output power of the quasi-continuous wave 1064~nm laser of 6.73~W is obtained at a repetition rate of 9.26~kHz. The experimental results show that a corner-pumped type is a kind of feasible schedules in the design of diode-pumped all-solid-state lasers with low or medium output powers.  相似文献

Corner-pumping is a new pumping scheme in diode-pumped all-solid-state lasers, having such advantages as high pump efficiency, favorable pump uniformity and low cost. Compact corner-pumped Nd:YAG/YAG composite slab lasers at 1064 nm with low or medium output powers and high efficiency are demonstrated in this paper. Combined with intracavity frequency doubling by a LBO crystal, a corner-pumped Nd:YAG/YAG composite slab 532 nm green laser with a stable output is realized successfully. The experimental results show that corner-pumping can reduce laser costs greatly, release the thermal effects of slab crystals and improve the output beam quality, and that the new pumping scheme is feasible in the design of diode-pumped all-solid-state lasers with low or medium output powers.  相似文献

Shadowgraphic and interferometric images of vapor/plasma plumes generated by pulses of a ns-Nd:YAG laser reveal the distinctive behavior of the shock wave expansion for each of three processing wavelengths (1064 nm, 532 nm, and 355 nm), indicating that different mechanisms dominate the interaction between the optical fields and the material vapor/plasma. Electron density distributions within the plasma plumes calculated from interferometrically obtained refractive index distributions allow us to describe the regions of absorption and the absorption mechanisms using a simple model of inverse bremsstrahlung and photoionization, which allows us to estimate absorption coefficients.  相似文献
