We study the local operator space structure of nuclear C * -algebras. It is shown that a C * -algebra is nuclear if and only if it is an 𝒪ℒ∞,λ space for some (and actually for every) λ>6. The 𝒪ℒ constant λ provides an interesting invariant
for nuclear C * -algebras. Indeed, if 𝒜 is a nuclear C * -algebra, then we have 1≤𝒪ℒ(𝒜)≤6, and if 𝒜 is a unital nuclear C * -algebra with , we show that 𝒜 must be stably finite. We also investigate the connection between the rigid 𝒪ℒ∞,1+ structure and the rigid complete order 𝒪ℒ∞,1+ structure on C * -algebras, where the latter structure has been studied by Blackadar and Kirchberg in their characterization of strong NF C * -algebras. Another main result of this paper is to show that these two local structrues are actually equivalent on unital nuclear C * -algebras. We obtain this by showing that if a unital (nuclear) C * -algebra is a rigid 𝒪ℒ∞,1+ space, then it is inner quasi-diagonal, and thus is a strong NF algebra. It is also shown that if a unital (nuclear) C * -algebra is an 𝒪ℒ∞,1+ space, then it is quasi-diagonal, and thus is an NF algebra. UniversalC*-algebrasC*(A) exist for certain topological *-algebras called algebras with aC*-enveloping algebra. A Frechet *-algebraA has aC*-enveloping algebra if and only if every operator representation ofA mapsA into bounded operators. This is proved by showing that every unbounded operator representation π, continuous in the uniform topology, of a topological *-algebraA, which is an inverse limit of Banach *-algebras, is a direct sum of bounded operator representations, thereby factoring through the enveloping pro-C*-algebraE(A) ofA. Given aC*-dynamical system (G,A,α), any topological *-algebraB containingC c (G,A) as a dense *-subalgebra and contained in the crossed productC*-algebraC*(G,A,α) satisfiesE(B) =C*(G,A,α). IfG = ℝ, ifB is an α-invariant dense Frechet *-subalgebra ofA such thatE(B) =A, and if the action α onB ism-tempered, smooth and by continuous *-automorphisms: then the smooth Schwartz crossed productS(ℝ,B,α) satisfiesE(S(ℝ,B,α)) =C*(ℝ,A,α). WhenG is a Lie group, theC -elementsC (A), the analytic elementsC ω(A) as well as the entire analytic elementsC є(A) carry natural topologies making them algebras with aC*-enveloping algebra. Given a non-unitalC*-algebraA, an inductive system of idealsI α is constructed satisfyingA =C*-ind limI α; and the locally convex inductive limit ind limI α is anm-convex algebra with theC*-enveloping algebraA and containing the Pedersen idealK a ofA. Given generatorsG with weakly Banach admissible relationsR, we construct universal topological *-algebraA(G, R) and show that it has aC*-enveloping algebra if and only if (G, R) isC*-admissible.  相似文献

Given anm-tempered strongly continuous action α of ℝ by continuous*-automorphisms of a Frechet*-algebraA, it is shown that the enveloping ↡-C *-algebraE(S(ℝ, A, α)) of the smooth Schwartz crossed productS(ℝ,A , α) of the Frechet algebra A of C-elements ofA is isomorphic to the Σ-C *-crossed productC *(ℝ,E(A), α) of the enveloping Σ-C *-algebraE(A) ofA by the induced action. WhenA is a hermitianQ-algebra, one getsK-theory isomorphismRK *(S(ℝ, A, α)) =K *(C *(ℝ,E(A), α) for the representableK-theory of Frechet algebras. An application to the differential structure of aC *-algebra defined by densely defined differential seminorms is given.  相似文献

LetA, B be unitalC *-algebras,D A 1 the set of all completely positive maps ϕ fromA toM n (C), with Tr ϕ(I)≤1(n≥3). If Ψ is an α-invariant affine homeomorphism betweenD A 1 andD B 1 with Ψ (0)=0, thenA is*-isomorphic toB. Obtained results can be viewed as non-commutative Kadison-Shultz theorems. We create a method which allows an arbitrary group G with an infrainvariant system ℒ(G) of subgroups to be embedded in a group G* with an infrainvariant system ℒ(G*) of subgroups, so that G α*G ∈ ℒ(G) for every subgroup G α*G ∈ ℒ(G*) and each factor B/A of a jump of subgroups in ℒ(G*) is isomorphic to a factor of a jump in ℒ(G), or to any specified group H. Using this method, we state new results on right-ordered groups. In particular, it is proved that every Conrad right-ordered group is embedded with preservation of order in a Conrad right-ordered group of Hahn type (i.e., a right-ordered group whose factors of jumps of convex subgroups are order isomorphic to the additive group ℝ); every right-ordered Smirnov group is embedded in a right-ordered Smirnov group of Hahn type; a new proof is given for the Holland–McCleary theorem on embedding every linearly ordered group in a linearly ordered group of Hahn type.  相似文献

Denote by T(X) the semigroup of full transformations on a set X. For εT(X), the centralizer of ε is a subsemigroup of T(X) defined by C(ε)={αT(X):αε=εα}. It is well known that C(id X )=T(X) is a regular semigroup. By a theorem proved by J.M. Howie in 1966, we know that if X is finite, then the subsemigroup generated by the idempotents of C(id X ) contains all non-invertible transformations in C(id X ).  相似文献

In this paper, we prove a covariant version of the Stinespring theorem for Hilbert C*-modules. Also, we show that there is a bijective correspondence between operator valued completely positive maps, (u′, u)-covariant with respect to the dynamical system (G, η, X) on Hilbert C*-modules and (u′, u)-covariant operator valued completely positive maps on the crossed product G × η X of X by η.  相似文献

A C*-symbolic dynamical system ${(\mathcal{A}, \rho, \Sigma)}A C*-symbolic dynamical system (A, r, S){(\mathcal{A}, \rho, \Sigma)} consists of a unital C*-algebra A{\mathcal{A}} and a finite family { ra }a ? S{\{ \rho_\alpha \}_{\alpha \in \Sigma}} of endomorphisms ρ α of A{\mathcal{A}} indexed by symbols α of Σ satisfying some conditions. The endomorphisms ra, a ? S{\rho_\alpha, \alpha \in \Sigma } yield both a subshift Λ and a C*-algebra of a Hilbert C*-bimodule. The obtained C*-algebra is regarded as a crossed product of A{\mathcal{A}} by the subshift Λ. We will study simplicity condition of these C*-algebras. Some examples such as irrational rotation Cuntz–Krieger algebras will be studied.  相似文献

We study the filter ℒ*(A) of computably enumerable supersets (modulo finite sets) of an r-maximal set A and show that, for some such set A, the property of being cofinite in ℒ*(A) is still Σ0 3-complete. This implies that for this A, there is no uniformly computably enumerable “tower” of sets exhausting exactly the coinfinite sets in ℒ*(A). It is shown that ifX is an ℒ⫗ space with separable dual, thenX has a quotient isomorphic toC(ω)α if, and only if, there is anɛ >0, such that theɛ-Szlenk index ofX is at leastα. It was previously known, that ifX is a separable ℒ⫗ space with a non-separable dual, thenX has a quotient isomorphic toC[0, 1]. Research partially supported by NSF Grant MCS-74-07509-A03.  相似文献

We describe both the Bunce-DeddensC *-algebras and their Toeplitz versions, as crossed products of commutativeC *-algebras by partial automorphisms. In the latter case, the commutative algebra has, as its spectrum, the union of the Cantor set and a copy of the set of natural numbers , fitted together in such a way that is an open dense subset. The partial automorphism is induced by a map that acts like the odometer map on the Cantor set while being the translation by one on . From this we deduce, by taking quotients, that the Bunce-DeddensC *-algebras are isomorphic to the (classical) crossed product of the algebra of continuous functions on the Cantor set by the odometer map.  相似文献

We introduce a lower semicontinuous analog, L (X), of the well-studied space of upper semicontinuous set-valued maps with nonempty compact interval images. Because the elements of L (X) contain continuous selections, the space C(X) of real-valued continuous functions on X can be used to establish properties of L (X), such as the two interrelated main theorems. The first of these theorems, the Extension Theorem, is proved in this Part I. The Extension Theorem says that for binormal spaces X and Y, every bimonotone homeomorphism between C(X) and C(Y) can be extended to an ordered homeomorphism between L (X) and L (Y). The second main theorem, the Factorization Theorem, is proved in Part II. The Factorization Theorem says that for binormal spaces X and Y, every ordered homeomorphism between L (X) and L (Y) can be characterized by a unique factorization.  相似文献

We construct a totally disconnected ω*, norming subsetF of the unit ballB * of an arbitrary separable Banach space,X, and an operator fromC(F) toC(B*) that “amost” commutes with the natural embeddings ofX. This is used to give a new proof of Milutin's theorem and to prove some new results on complemented subspaces ofC[0, 1] with separable dual. In particular we show that a complemented subspace ofCω), is either isomorphic toCω) or toc u.  相似文献

Let X be an infinite, locally connected, locally compact separable metrizable space. The space C(X) of real-valued continuous functions defined on X with the compact-open topology is a separable Fréchet space, so it is homeomorphic to the psuedo-interior s = (−1, 1) of the Hilbert cube Q = [−1, 1]. In this paper, generalizing the Sakai-Uehara’s result to the non-compact case, we construct a natural compactification $ \bar C $ \bar C (X) of C(X) such that the pair ($ \bar C $ \bar C (X), C(X)) is homeomorphic to (Q, s). In case X has no isolated points, this compactification $ \bar C $ \bar C (X) coincides with the space USCC F (X,   相似文献

We prove a “unique crossed product decomposition” result for group measure space II1 factors L (X)⋊Γ arising from arbitrary free ergodic probability measure preserving (p.m.p.) actions of groups Γ in a fairly large family G\mathcal{G}, which contains all free products of a Kazhdan group and a non-trivial group, as well as certain amalgamated free products over an amenable subgroup. We deduce that if T n denotes the group of upper triangular matrices in PSL (n,ℤ), then any free, mixing p.m.p. action of G = \operatornamePSL(n,\mathbbZ)*Tn\operatornamePSL(n,\mathbbZ)\Gamma=\operatorname{PSL}(n,\mathbb{Z})*_{T_{n}}\operatorname{PSL}(n,\mathbb{Z}) is W-superrigid, i.e. any isomorphism between L (X)⋊Γ and an arbitrary group measure space factor L (Y)⋊Λ, comes from a conjugacy of the actions. We also prove that for many groups Γ in the family G\mathcal{G}, the Bernoulli actions of Γ are W-superrigid.  相似文献

Let (G, I, N, S) be an affine topological Tits system, and let Γ be a torsion-free cocompact lattice in G. This article studies the coinvariants H 0(Γ; C(Ω,Z)), where Ω is the Furstenberg boundary of G. It is shown that the class [1] of the identity function in H 0(Γ; C(Ω, Z)) has finite order, with explicit bounds for the order. A similar statement applies to the K 0 group of the boundary crossed product C *-algebra C(Ω)Γ. If the Tits system has type ? 2, exact computations are given, both for the crossed product algebra and for the reduced group C *-algebra.  相似文献

For the homeomorphism C*-algebra A(Σ) arising from a topological dynamical system Σ=(X,σ) where σ is a homeomorphism on an arbitrary compact Hausdorff space X, we first give detailed classification of its closed ideals into four classes. In case when X is a compact metric space, we then determine the conditions when the quotient algebras of A(Σ) become quasidiagonal. The case of A(Σ) itself was treated by M. Pimsner.  相似文献
