For a given idealI of a commutative ringA, B=A/I, the vanishing of the second André-Quillen (co)homology functorH 2 (A, B, δ) is characterized in terms of the canonical homomorphism α:S(I)→R(I) from the symmetric algebra of the idealI onto its Rees algebra. This is done by introducing a Koszul complex that characterizes commutative graded algebras which are symmetric algebras.

Let R be a Noetherian ring. We prove that R has global dimension at most two if, and only if, every prime ideal of R is of linear type. Similarly, we show that R has global dimension at most three if, and only if, every prime ideal of R is syzygetic. As a consequence, we derive a characterization of these rings using the André-Quillen homology.  相似文献

Topological André-Quillen homology for commutative S-algebras was introduced by Basterra following work of Kriz, and has been intensively studied by several authors. In this paper we discuss it as a homology theory on CW commutative S-algebras and apply it to obtain results on minimal atomic p-local S-algebras which generalise those of Baker and May for p-local spectra and simply connected spaces. We exhibit some new examples of minimal atomic commutative S-algebras. A. Baker was partially supported by a YFF Norwegian Research Council grant while at the University of Oslo in 2007–8, a Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland grant, and Intas grants 03-51-3251 and 06-1000017-8609. H. Gilmour was supported by an EPSRC studentship. P. Reinhard was supported by an ORS grant. We would like to thank M. Basterra, P. Kropholler, M. Mandell, P. May, B. Richter, J. Rognes and S. Sagave for numerous helpful comments. We are also very grateful to the referee for encouraging us to rethink significantly issues of notation and structure, thus improving the structure of the paper.  相似文献

This paper presents solutions or partial solutions for several problems in the theory of relation algebras. In a simple relation algebra an element x satisfying the condition (a) must be an atom of . It follows that x must also be an atom in every simple extension of . Andréka, Jónsson and Németi [1, Problem 4] (see [12, Problem P5]) asked whether the converse holds: if x is an atom in every simple extension of a simple relation algebra, must it satisfy (a)? We show that the answer is “no”.? The only known examples of simple relation algebras without simple proper extensions are the algebras of all binary relations on a finite set. Jónsson proposed finding all finite simple relation algebras without simple proper extensions [12, Problem P6]. We show how to construct many new examples of finite simple relation algebras that have no simple proper extensions, thus providing a partial answer for this second problem. These algebras are also integral and nonrepresentable.? Andréka, Jónsson, Németi [1, Problem 2] (see [12, Problem P7]) asked whether there is a countable simple relation algebra that cannot be embedded in a one-generated relation algebra. The answer is “yes”. Givant [3, Problem 9] asked whether there is some k such that every finitely generated simple relation algebra can be embedded in a k-generated simple relation algebra. The answer is “no”. Received November 27, 1996; accepted in final form July 3, 1997.  相似文献

Relying on the computation of the André-Quillen homology groups for unstable Hopf algebras, we prove that if the mod p cohomology of both the fiber and the base in an H-fibration is finitely generated as algebra over the Steenrod algebra, then so is the mod p cohomology of the total space. In particular, the mod p cohomology of the n-connected cover of a finite H-space is always finitely generated as algebra over the Steenrod algebra.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the André-Quillen homology of simplicial commutative ℓ-algebras, ℓ a field, having certain vanishing properties. When ℓ has non-zero characteristic, we obtain an algebraic version of a theorem of J.-P. Serre and Y. Umeda that characterizes such simplicial algebras having bounded homotopy groups. We further discuss how this theorem fails in the rational case and, as an application, indicate how the algebraic Serre theorem can be used to resolve a conjecture of D. Quillen for algebras of finite type over Noetherian rings, having non-zero characteristic. Oblatum 3-III-1999 & 3-V-2000?Published online: 11 October 2000  相似文献

Every finite generalized André plane is associated with a spreadF′ of the projective spacePG(2t+1,q), which is obtained from a regular preadF replacing in a switching setU some of the subspaces ofF. The construction ofU is realized by an opportune setA of non-identical automorphisms of the fieldGF(q t+1). In this paper we characterize the irreducible components ofU, whenU is obtained by a setA consisting of two automorphisms. In the second paragraph we prove that such switching sets are only of two types. In the third paragraph we provide a constructive rule which is a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of both the types. In such a way we describe the structure of the spreadF′ associated with any finite generalized André plane such that |A|=2.   相似文献

Résumé. let A be a central simple algebra of degree 4 over a fieldF of caracteristic not 2 and an orthogonal involution on A. Denotes the trace form of . In this note we show that , ie. is similar to a 4-Pfister form (over F) if and only if is a sum of two squares in F. It follows, in the split case , that if then, the hermitian level of is finite if and only if is weakly isotropic. A similar result holds with ordinary squares and trace form for any central simple algebra (see [5] and [7]).

We show that the André-Quillen cohomology of an E simplicial algebra with arbitrary coefficients and the topological André-Quillen cohomology of an E ring spectrum with Eilenberg-Mac Lane coefficients may be calculated as the André-Quillen cohomology of an associated E differential graded algebra.  相似文献

Abstract

In this paper we construct a cylindrical module A ? ? for an ?-comodule algebra A, where the antipode of the Hopf algebra ? is bijective. We show that the cyclic module associated to the diagonal of A ? ? is isomorphic with the cyclic module of the crossed product algebra A ? ?. This enables us to derive a spectral sequence for the cyclic homology of the crossed product algebra. We also construct a cocylindrical module for Hopf module coalgebras and establish a similar spectral sequence to compute the cyclic cohomology of crossed product coalgebras.  相似文献

Let X be a compact manifold with boundary. It will be shown (Theorem 3.4) that the small Melrose algebra A? ?b,cl (χ,bΩ1/2) (cf. [22], [23]) of classical, totally characteristic pseudodifferential operators carries no topology such that it is a topological algebra with an open group of invertible elements, in particular, the algebra A cannot be spectrally invariant in any C* – algebra. On the other hand, the symbolic structure of A can be extended continuously to the C* – algebra B generated by A as a subalgebra of ζ(σbL2(χ, bΩ1/2)) by a generalization of a method of Gohberg and Krupnik. Furthermore, A is densely embedded in a Fréchet algebra A ? B which is a ?* – algebra in the sense of Gramsch [9, Definition 5.1], reflecting also smooth properties of the original algebra A.  相似文献

Let T be a Hochschild extension algebra of a finite dimensional algebra A over a field K by the standard duality A-bimodule HomK(A, K). In this paper, we determine the ordinary quiver of T if A is a self-injective Nakayama algebra by means of the ?-graded second Hochschild homology group HH2(A) in the sense of Sköldberg.  相似文献

For a general crossed product E = A#f H, of an algebra A by a Hopf algebra H, we obtain complexes smaller than the canonical ones, giving the Hochschild homology and cohomology of E. These complexes are equipped with natural filtrations. The spectral sequences associated to them coincide with the ones obtained using a natural generalization of the direct method introduced in Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 74 (1953) 110–134. We also get that if the 2-cocycle f takes its values in a separable subalgebra of A, then the Hochschild (co)homology of E with coefficients in M is the (co)homology of H with coefficients in a (co)chain complex.  相似文献

The André/Bruck and Bose representation ([1], [5,6]) of PG(2,q 2) in PG(4,q) is a tool used by many authors in the proof of recent results. In this paper the André/Bruck and Bose representation of conics in Baer subplanes of PG(2,q 2) is determined. It is proved that a non-degenerate conic in a Baer subplane of PG(2,q 2) is a normal rational curve of order 2, 3, or 4 in the André/Bruck and Bose representation. Moreover the three possibilities (classes) are examined and we classify the conics in each class. Received 1 September 1999; revised 17 July 2000.  相似文献

A 5-term exact sequence and the interpretation of low dimensional groups of homology with trivial coefficients of algebras with bracket are obtained. The endofunctor in the category of algebras with bracket which assigns to a perfect algebra with bracket its universal central extension is constructed and the characterization of the universal central extension by means of the low-dimensional homology groups is done. The conditions required to lift an automorphism or a derivation of A to A′ in a covering f:A′ ? A are analyzed.  相似文献

Let A be a commutative Noetherian ring and I an ideal in A. We characterize algebraically when all the minimal primes of the associated graded ring G I A contract to minimal primes of A/I. This, applied to intersection theory, means that there are no embedded distinguished varieties of intersection. The characterization is in terms of the analytic spread of certain localizations of I, the symbolic Rees algebra, and the normalization of the Rees algebra, and extends results of Huneke, Vasconcelos, and Martí-Farré.  相似文献

The Hochschild cohomology of a DG algebra A with coefficients in itself is, up to a suspension of degrees, a graded Lie algebra. The purpose of this paper is to prove that a certain DG Lie algebra of derivations appears as a finite codimensional graded sub Lie algebra of this Lie algebra when A is a strongly homotopy commutative algebra whose homology is concentrated in finitely many degrees. This result has interesting implications for the free the loop space homology which we explore here as well.  相似文献

We define a noncommutative analogue of invariant de Rham cohomology. More precisely, for a triple (A, H, M) consisting of a Hopf algebra H, an H-comodule algebra A, an H-module M, and a compatible grouplike element in H, we define the cyclic module of invariant chains on A with coefficients in M and call its cyclic homology the invariant cyclic homology of A with coefficients in M. We also develop a dual theory for coalgebras. Examples include cyclic cohomology of Hopf algebras defined by Connes–Moscovici and its dual theory. We establish various results and computations including one for the quantum group SL(q,2).  相似文献
