We study theoretically a bistable system with time-delayed feedback driven by a weak periodic force. The effective potential function and the steady-state probability density are derived. The delay time and the strength of its feedback can change the shapes of the potential wells. In the adiabatic approximation, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the system with a weak periodic force is obtained. The time-delayed feedback modulates the magnitude of SNR by changing the shape of the potential and the effective strength of the signal. The maximum of SNR decreases with increasing the feedback intensity ?. When ? is negative (or positive), the time delay can suppress (or promote) the stochastic resonance phenomenon.  相似文献

We report the chain dynamics in the necklace model that mimics the reptation of a chain of N particles in a two-dimensional square lattice. We focus on the drift velocity under an applied static field. The characteristics of the model allow us to determine the effects of the forces on the chains and the resulting mechanisms that affect the drift velocity. Results obtained through Monte Carlo simulations were analyzed and discussed and distinct regimes as a function of the force strength and N were identified. We found that for small total applied forces, the drift velocity scales as 1/N. When the applied force to every particle is small but the total applied force is not, the tube deforms in such a way that the drift velocity does not depend on N. Large forces, applied to every particle, can straight chains such that the distance between the chain ends increases faster than the number of particles. Also, large forces can deform the chain within the tube what is directly related to a decrease of the drift velocity.  相似文献

Pattern synchronization in a two-layer neuronal network is studied. For a single-layer network of Rulkov map neurons, there are three kinds of patterns induced by noise. Additive noise can induce ordered patterns at some intermediate noise intensities in a resonant way; however, for small and large noise intensities there exist excitable patterns and disordered patterns, respectively. For a neuronal network coupled by two single-layer networks with noise intensity differences between layers, we find that the two-layer network can achieve synchrony as the interlayer coupling strength increases. The synchronous states strongly depend on the interlayer coupling strength and the noise intensity difference between layers.  相似文献

A simple model by which the mass drift can be expected in heavy ion reaction is suggested. The drift of average value of mass distribution with increasing dissipation energy is very small, because large damping effect hinders the driving potential in the process of energy equilibration while in the process of fast fission the drift of mass distribution increases rapidly and reaches equilibrium which comes from the effect of driving force.  相似文献

A surprisingly large number of systems in nature are thought to be governed by internal dynamics which causes avalanches of various sizes. In such systems energy, which is delivered from outside, is redistributed as a result of the occurrence of localized avalanches. Starting an avalanche requires that some threshold condition be satisfied. Random driving (energy input) brings the system into a strongly inhomogeneous state, so that the probability of triggering an avalanche in a large part of the system is small. In most physical systems energy redistribution may occur due to diffusive processes without avalanches. Diffusion also makes the system more uniform, making large avalanche triggering more probable. The observed behavior of a such system may crucially depend on the competition between diffusion and driving. In this paper, the effects of diffusive processes are investigated using a dissipative, isotropic one-dimensional model, in which avalanches can propagate in both directions. It is shown that the system behavior changes progressively as the diffusion rate increases. In the absence of diffusion, many small avalanches are triggered. Increasing the diffusion rate gradually suppresses these small avalanches and leads to the development of large, quasi-periodic bursts.  相似文献

We studied the rectified transport of underdamped particles subject to phase lag in an asymmetric periodic structure. When the inertia effect is considered, it is possible to observe reversals of the average velocity with small self-propelled force, whereas particles always move in the positive direction with large self-propelled force. The introduction of phase lag leads particles to follow circular orbits and suppress the polar motion. In addition, this can adjust the direction of particle motion. There exists an optimal value of polar interaction strength at which the rectification is maximal. These results open the way for many application processes, such as spatial sorting of particles mixture and separation based on their physical properties.  相似文献

The effects of time delay on the transient properties of a time-delayed metastable system subjected to cross-correlated noises are studied by means of a stochastic simulation method. It is found that: (i) Both additive noise and multiplicative noise can produce the noise enhanced stability (NES) effect; (ii) The time delay induces critical behavior on the NES, i.e., there is a critical value of the delay time τc1≈2.2, above which the time delay increases the stability of the system enhanced by the additive noise, and below which the NES effect induced by the additive noise disappears; (iii) There exists another critical value of the delay time τc2≈3.0, above which the time delay increases the stability of the system enhanced by the multiplicative noise and below which the time delay decreases it.  相似文献

The effects of additive correlated noise, which is composed of common Gaussian white noise and local Gaussian colored noise, on a square lattice network locally modelled by the Rulkov map are studied. We focus on the ability of noise to induce pattern formation in a resonant manner. It is shown that local Gaussian colored noise is able to induce pattern formation, which is more coherent at some noise intensity or correlation time, so it is able to induce spatiotemporal coherence resonance in the network. When common Gaussian white noise is applied in addition, it is seen that the correlated noise can induce coherent spatial structures at some intermediate noise correlation, while this is not the case for smaller and larger noise intensities. The mechanism of the observed spatiotemporal coherence resonance is discussed. It is also found that the correlation time of local colored noise has no evident effect on the optimal value of the noise strength for spatiotemporal coherence resonance in the network.  相似文献

Nonlinear diffusion equations provide useful models for a number of interesting phenomena, such as diffusion processes in porous media. We study here a family of nonlinear Fokker-Planck equations endowed both with a power-law nonlinear diffusion term and a drift term with a time dependent force linear in the spatial variable. We show that these partial differential equations exhibit exact time dependent particular solutions of the Tsallis maximum entropy (q-MaxEnt) form. These results constitute generalizations of previous ones recently discussed in the literature [C. Tsallis, D.J. Bukman, Phys. Rev. E 54, R2197 (1996)], concerning q-MaxEnt solutions to nonlinear Fokker-Planck equations with linear, time independent drift forces. We also show that the present formalism can be used to generate approximate q-MaxEnt solutions for nonlinear Fokker-Planck equations with time independent drift forces characterized by a general spatial dependence. We study the transport of overdamped Brownian particles in a symmetrically periodic potential in the presence of an asymmetrically ac driving force and a time-delayed feedback.It is found that for low frequencies,the average velocity can be negative by changing the driving amplitude,for high frequencies,there exists an optimized driving amplitude at which the average velocity takes its maximum value.Additionally,there is a threshold value of driving amplitude below which no directed transport can be obtained for high frequencies.For the large value of the delay time,the average velocity is independent of the delay time.  相似文献

Overdamped particles subject to a drift in a force field with sinusoidal space dependence and also a sinusoidally modulated space-dependent diffusion, with the same period as the drift, experience a net driving force. The resulting current depends on the amplitude of the modulation of the diffusion and is a periodic function of the phase difference between the sinusoidal drift and the sinusoidal modulation of the diffusion. The role of Lévy flights on fluctuation-driven transport in time independent periodic potentials with broken spatial symmetry is studied. Two complementary approaches are followed. The first one is based on a generalized Langevin model describing overdamped dynamics in a ratchet type external potential driven by Lévy white noise with stability index α in the range 1<α<2. The second approach is based on the space fractional Fokker-Planck equation describing the corresponding probability density function (PDF) of particle displacements. It is observed that, even in the absence of an external tilting force or a bias in the noise, the Lévy flights drive the system out of the thermodynamic equilibrium and generate an up-hill current (i.e., a current in the direction of the steeper side of the asymmetric potential). For small values of the noise intensity there is an optimal value of α yielding the maximum current. The direction and magnitude of the current can be manipulated by changing the Lévy noise asymmetry and the potential asymmetry. For a sharply localized initial condition, the PDF of staying at the minimum of the potential exhibits scaling behavior in time with an exponent bigger than the −1/α exponent corresponding to the force free case.  相似文献

We study the thermally activated motion of semiflexible polymers in double-well potentials using field-theoretic methods. Shape, energy, and effective diffusion constant of kink excitations are calculated, and their dependence on the bending rigidity of the semiflexible polymer is determined. For symmetric potentials, the kink motion is purely diffusive whereas kink motion becomes directed in the presence of a driving force. We determine the average velocity of the semiflexible polymer based on the kink dynamics. The Kramers escape over the potential barriers proceeds by nucleation and diffusive motion of kink-antikink pairs, the relaxation to the straight configuration by annihilation of kink-antikink pairs. We consider both uniform and point-like driving forces. For the case of point-like forces the polymer crosses the potential barrier only if the force exceeds a critical value. Our results apply to the activated motion of biopolymers such as DNA and actin filaments or of synthetic polyelectrolytes on structured substrates.  相似文献

The phenomenon of entropic stochastic resonance (ESR) in a two-dimensional confined system driven by a transverse periodic force is investigated when the colored fluctuation is included in the system. Applying the method of unified colored noise approximation, the approximate Fokker-Planck equation can be derived in the absence of the periodic force. Through the escaping rate of the Brownian particle from one well to the other, the power spectral amplification can be obtained. It is found that increasing the values of the noise correlation time and the signal frequency can suppress the ESR of the system.  相似文献

We study the spatial dynamics of spiral waves in noisy Hodgkin-Huxley neuronal ensembles evoked by different information transmission delays and network topologies. In classical settings of coherence resonance the intensity of noise is fine-tuned so as to optimize the system's response. Here, we keep the noise intensity constant, and instead, vary the length of information transmission delay amongst coupled neurons. We show that there exists an intermediate transmission delay by which the spiral waves are optimally ordered, hence indicating the existence of delay-enhanced coherence of spatial dynamics in the examined system. Additionally, we examine the robustness of this phenomenon as the diffusive interaction topology changes towards the small-world type, and discover that shortcut links amongst distant neurons hinder the emergence of coherent spiral waves irrespective of transmission delay length. Presented results thus provide insights that could facilitate the understanding of information transmission delay on realistic neuronal networks.  相似文献

We investigate a drive-response system by considering the impacts of noise on generalized synchronization (GS). It is found that a small amount of noise can turn the system from desynchronization to the GS state in the resonant case no matter how noise is injected into the system. In the non-resonant case, noise with intensity in a certain range is helpful in building GS only when the noise is injected to the driving system. The mechanism behind the observed phenomena is discussed.  相似文献

This paper studies a new model, which considers the effects of drivers reaction delay in the Nagel-Schreckenberg model. We studied the traffic flow properties in the new model under both periodic and open boundary conditions. The fundamental diagram, spatio-temporal patterns, density-density correlation functions, relaxation time, and distance headway distribution are investigated. Several interesting results are reported, for example, (i) the jam becomes less condensed when the delay effect is considered; (ii) the distance headway of the new model exhibits a multi-peak distribution when randomization p is small; (iii) for large p, the distribution of distance headway follows a power law in the new model; (iv) under open boundary conditions, the existence of a stationary jam near the left boundary will lower the flow rate.  相似文献

We study the motion of charged Brownian particles in an external magnetic field. It is found that a correlation appears between the components of particle velocity in the case of anisotropic friction, approaching asymptotically zero in the stationary limit. If magnetic field is smaller compared to the critical value, determined by frictional anisotropy, the relaxation of the correlation is non-oscillating in time. However, in a larger magnetic field this relaxation becomes oscillating. The phenomenon is related to the statistical dependence of the components of transformed random force caused by the simultaneous influence of magnetic field and anisotropic dissipation.  相似文献

The associated relaxation time Tc and the normalized correlation function C(s) for a tumor cell growth system subjected to color noises are investigated. Using the Novikov theorem and Fox approach, the steady probability distribution is obtained. Based on them, the expressions of Tc and C(s) are derived by means of projection operator method, in which the effects of the memory kernels of the correlation function are taken into account. Performing the numerical computations, it is found: (1) With the cross-correlation intensity |λ|, the additive noise intensity α and the multiplicative noise self-correlation time τ1 increasing, the tumor cell numbers can be restrained; And the cross-correlation time τ3, the multiplicative noise intensity D can induce the tumor cell numbers increasing; However, the additive noise self-correlation time τ2 cannot affect the tumor cell numbers; The relaxation time Tc is a stochastic resonant phenomenon, and the distribution curves exhibit a single-maximum structure with D increasing. (2) The cross-correlation strength λ weakens the related activity between two states of the tumor cell numbers at different time, and enhances the stability of the tumor cell growth system in the steady state; On the contrast, τ1 and τ3 enhance the related activity between two states at different time; However, τ2 has no effect on the related activity between two states at different time.  相似文献
