A novel optical fibre reflectance sensor coupled to a multisyringe flow injection system (MSFIA) for the determination and speciation analysis of iron at trace level using chelating disks (iminodiacetic groups) is proposed. Once iron(III) has been retained onto a chelating disk, an ammonium thiocyanate stream is injected in order to form the iron(III)-thiocyanate complex which is spectrophotometrically detected at 480 nm. Iron(III) is eluted with 2 M hydrochloric acid so that the chelating disk is regenerated for subsequent experiments. The determination of total iron is achieved by the on-line oxidation of iron(II) to iron(III) with a suitable hydrogen peroxide stream.A mass calibration was feasible in the range from 0.001 to 0.25 μg. The detection limit (3sb/S) was 0.001 μg. The repeatability (RSD), calculated from nine replicates using 1 ml injections of a 0.1 mg/l concentration, was 2.2%. The repeatability between five chelating disks was 3.6%. The applicability of the proposed methodology in fresh and seawater samples has been proved. The proposed technique has been validated by replicate analysis (n = 4) of certified reference materials of water with satisfactory results.  相似文献

A study has been performed of the conditions for the reaction of histamine with o-phthaldehyde in a flow injection analysis system employing three channels, using an anion-exchange column to eliminate sample matrix interferences. Factorial design was used to determine which operational parameters should be included in the optimization and their optimal values were found. The method developed shows good selectivity for histamine determination in alcoholic beverages. A linear response of up to 2.0 mg l−1 was observed and the detection and quantification limits were 30 and 101 μg l−1, respectively. The repeatability, measured by the R.S.D. for 10 replicate injections, was 0.84 and 0.52% for histamine solutions of 0.20 and 2.0 mg l−1, respectively. The recoveries obtained in wine and cider samples were close to 100% and a sample frequency of 24 samples per hour was achieved.  相似文献

A flow-batch system was developed for the determination of Fe(III) in estuarine waters with high variability in salinity. The method is based on the catalytic effect of iron(III) on the oxidation rate of N,N-dimethyl-p-phenylenediammonium dichloride (DmPD) by hydrogen peroxide and the formed product is spectrophotometrically monitored at 554 nm. A controlled addition of sodium chloride to every assayed sample is accomplished for in-line individual salinity matching. The proposed system processes about 30 samples h−1 and yields reproducible results. Relative standard deviations were estimated as <1.5% after 10 injections of typical samples (10.0-50.0 μg l−1 Fe; ca. 0.5 mol l−1 Cl). Synthetic samples (15.0 μg l−1 Fe; 0.25-1.0 mol l−1 NaCl) were efficiently processed, and no significant differences in results were found at a probability level of 99.7%. The method works for the full range of salinities. Only 120 μg DmPD are consumed per determination. The analytical curve is linear up to about 60 μg l−1 Fe (r>0.999; n=5) and the detection limit is 5 μg l−1 Fe. Results are in agreement with graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry.  相似文献

A novel solid phase extraction technique for the speciation of trace dissolved Fe(II) and Fe(III) in environmental water samples was developed by coupling micro-column packed with N-benzoyl-N-phenylhydroxylamine (BPHA) loaded on microcrystalline naphthalene to electrothermal vaporization inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ETV-ICP-OES). Various influencing factors on the separation and preconcentration of Fe(II) and Fe(III), such as the acidity of the aqueous solution, sample flow rate and volume, have been investigated systematically, and the optimized operation conditions were established. At pH 3.0 Fe(III) could be selectively retained by micro-column (20 mm × 1.4 mm, i.d.) packed with BPHA immobilized on microcrystalline naphthalene, and Fe(II) passed through the micro-column. Both Fe(II) and Fe(III) could be adsorbed by the micro-column at pH 6.5. Thus, the total Fe could be determined without the need for preoxidation of Fe(II) to Fe(III). The retained Fe(III) or the Fe(II) and Fe(III) was subsequently eluted by 0.1 ml of 1 mol l−1 HCl. The adsorption capacity of the solid phase adsorption material was found to be 45.0 mg g−1 for Fe(III) at pH 3.0 and 65.3 mg g−1 for Fe(II) at pH 6.5, respectively. The detection limit (3σ) of 0.053 μg l−1 was obtained with a practical enrichment factor of 156 at a sample volume of 17 ml. The relative standard deviations of 4.2% and 4.6% (CFe(III) = CFe(II) = 10 μg l−1, n = 7) for Fe(III) and total iron were found, respectively. The method was successfully applied to the determination of trace Fe(II) and Fe(III) in environmental water samples (East Lake water, local tap water and mineral water). In order to validate the method, the developed method was applied to the determination of total iron in certified materials of NIES NO.10-b rice flour and GBW07605 tea leaves, and the results obtained were in good agreement with the certified values.  相似文献

Leading-edge urban solid waste ashing plants use burning heat energy to obtain electrical power. Water fed to their boilers for conversion into steam should be highly pure in order to minimize corrosion, scaling and similar phenomena, which can lead to malfunctioning and a reduced useful life but can be avoided by proper management and control of the water supply. In this work, we developed a multiparameter monitor based on multisyringe sequential injection for the sequential determination of up to eight important parameters, namely: pH, specific and acid conductivity, hydrazine, ammonium, phosphate, silicate and total iron.Acid conductivity was determined by passing the sample through a cation-exchange resin in order to retain ammonium ion and release protons. This parameter was deemed the most accurate indicator of dissolved solids in boiler water. Chemical parameters were determined spectrophotometrically: hydrazine by reaction with p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde, ammonium by the modified Berthelot reaction, iron with o-phenanthroline, and phosphate and silica by formation of a molybdoheteropoly blue dye in the presence of ascorbic acid as reductant. Use of the optimum chemical and physical operating conditions provided 3sblank detection limits of 0.01 mg l−1 N2H4, 0.13 mg l−1 NH4+, 0.04 mg l−1 Fe, 0.03 mg l−1 SiO2 and 0.05 mg l−1 PO43−, and relative standard deviations not greater than 2.5%. The methods integrated in the proposed monitor were successfully applied to real samples from the water-steam cycle at the Son Reus ashing plant in Palma de Mallorca (Spain).  相似文献

This paper proposes an alternative analytical method using energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) to determine Fe and Cu in gasoline samples. In the proposed procedure, samples were distilled and the distillation residues were spotted on cellulose paper disk to form a uniform thin film and to produce a homogeneous and reproducible interface to the XRF instrument. The disks were dried at 60 °C for 20 min and copper and iron were determined directly in the solid phase at 6.40 and 8.04 keV, respectively. The calibration curves showed linear response in the 20-800 μg L−1 concentration range of each metal. The precisions (repeatability) calculated from 15 consecutive measurements and defined as the coefficient of variation of solutions containing 100 μg L−1 of Fe and Cu were 7.8 and 8.1%, respectively. The limits of detection (LOD), defined as the analyte concentration that gives a response equivalent to three times the standard deviation of the blank (n = 10), were found to be 10 and 15 μg L−1 for Fe and Cu, respectively. The proposed method was applied to copper and iron determination in gasoline samples collected from different gas stations.  相似文献

A sequential injection (SI) method in a lab-on-valve (LOV) format for simultaneous spectrophotometric determination of copper and iron has been devised. The detection chemistry is based on the complex formation of 2-(5-bromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-[N-n-propyl-N-(3-sulfopropyl)amino]aniline (5-Br-PSAA) with copper(II) and/or iron(II) at pH 4.6. Copper(II) reacts with 5-Br-PSAA to form the complex which has an absorption maximum at 580 nm but iron(III) does not react. In the presence of a reducing agent only iron(II)-5-Br-PSAA complex is formed and detected at 558 nm. Under the optimum experimental conditions, the determinable ranges are 0.1-2 mg l−1 for copper and 0.1-5 mg l−1 for iron, respectively, with a sampling rate of 18 h−1. The limits of detection are 50 μg l−1 for copper and 25 μg l−1 for iron. The relative standard deviations (n = 15) are 2% for 0.5 mg l−1 copper and 1.8% for 0.5 mg l−1 iron when determined in standard solutions. The recoveries range between 96 and 105% when determining 0.25-2 mg l−1 of copper and 0.2-5 mg l−1 of iron in artificial mixtures at copper/iron ratios of 1:10 to 5:1. The proposed SI-LOV method is successfully applied to the simultaneous determination of copper and iron in multi-element standard solution and in industrial wastewater samples.  相似文献

A flow injection spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of dissolved and total amounts of iron in tap and natural water samples. The method for the determination of iron employs a sample acidification step in order to decompose iron hydroxide and iron-complexes into free iron, Fe(III) and Fe(II). The amounts of free iron were detected using a catalytic action of Fe(III) and Fe(II) on the oxidation of N,N-dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. Increase in absorbance of oxidized product was detected spectrophotometrically at 514 nm. The proposed method allows 0.02 and 0.06 μg l−1 of LOD and LOQ, respectively, with relative standard deviation (RSD) below 2%. The accuracy and the precision of the method were evaluated by the analysis of the standard reference material, river water. The developed method was successfully applied to real water samples.  相似文献

An artificial neural network (ANN) procedure was used in the development of a catalytic spectrophotometric method for the determination of Cu(II) and Ni(II) employing a stopped-flow injection system. The method is based on the catalytic action of these ions on the reduction of resazurin by sulfide. ANNs trained by back-propagation of errors allowed us to model the systems in a concentration range of 0.5-6 and 1-15 mg l−1 for Cu(II) and Ni(II), respectively, with a low relative error of prediction (REP) for each cation: REPCu(II) = 0.85% and REPNi(II) = 0.79%. The standard deviations of the repeatability (sr) and of the within-laboratory reproducibility (sw) were measured using standard solutions of Cu(II) and Ni(II) equal to 2.75 and 3.5 mg l−1, respectively: sr[Cu(II)] = 0.039 mg l−1, sr[Ni(II)] = 0.044 mg l−1, sw[Ni(II)] = 0.045 mg l−1 and sw[Ni(II)] = 0.050 mg l−1. The ANNs-kinetic method has been applied to the determination of Cu(II) and Ni(II) in electroplating solutions and provided satisfactory results as compared with flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry method. The effect of resazurin, NaOH and Na2S concentrations and the reaction temperature on the analytical sensitivity is discussed.  相似文献

A stable and highly sensitive HPLC method for uranine has been developed. Because of unstableness of silica-based octadecyl-C18 columns at high pH condition, a reversed phase HPLC analysis under alkaline conditions has not necessarily taken as a usual method. However, the application for uranine seems to be advantageous, since the fluorescence yield of uranine is markedly enhanced at high pH condition. The detection limit of the HPLC system was 0.9 pg. The analytical consideration was also paid for the solid phase extraction (SPE) prior to the HPLC analysis with careful consideration of the recently revised pKa values of uranine. The recovery rate of uranine by SPE was found to depend on the sample volume and a few ml of seawater was applied to SPE in order to maintain the recovery rate during SPE. A combination of HPLC and SPE methods achieved detection of uranine at concentrations as low as 0.2 ng l−1 (0.5 pM), which was comparable to the background concentration of uranine in coastal water off Japan. For the practical use of the detected tracer-uranine concentration values after substantial duration after release, the photodegradation of uranine in surface water was also evaluated in terms of incident solar radiation dose as an exponential rate constant of −0.135 mol photon−1 m2.  相似文献

A new multisyringe flow injection system for total inorganic selenium determination by hydride generation-atomic fluorescence spectrometry (HGAFS) has been proposed. The flow methodology is based on the simultaneous injection of sample in the acid media (50% HCl), a reducing sodium tetrahydroborate solution (0.18%) and a solution of hydrochloric acid (50%) which are dispensed into a gas-liquid separation cell by using a multisyringe burette coupled with one multiport selection valve. The usage of the time-based injection increases the sample throughput and provides precise known volumes of sample. The hydride of selenium is delivered into the flame of an atomic fluorescence spectrometer by means of an argon flow. A hydrogen flow has been used to support the flame. The technique can be applied over a wide range of concentrations of selenium between 0.1 and 3.5 μg l−1 with good repeatability (relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) values 4.6-7% for 1 μg l−1 of Se). The detection limit of the developed technique (3σb/S) was 0.01 μg l−1. A sample throughput was 28 samples per hour (84 injections). The multisyringe technique has been validated by means of reference solid (sea lettuce) and water (hard drinking water) materials with good agreement with certified values. The analytical features were compared with those obtained by using of the commercial flow injection analysis (FIA) system. The proposed method provides a higher sampling frequency and a significant reduction of reagent and sample consumption in front the flow injection application.  相似文献

The determination of chromium (52Cr), iron (56Fe) and selenium (80Se) isotopes in foodstuffs of animal origin has been performed by collision cell technology (CCT) mode using an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) as detector after closed vessel microwave digestion. To significantly decrease the argon-based interferences at mass to charge ratios (m/z): 52 (40Ar12C), 56 (40Ar16O) and 80 (40Ar40Ar), the gas-flow rates of a helium and hydrogen mixture used in the hexapole collision cell were optimised to 1.5 ml min−1 H2 and 0.5 ml min−1 He and the quadrupole bias was adjusted daily between −2 and −15 mV. Limits of quantification (LOQ) of 0.025, 0.086 and 0.041 mg kg−1 for Cr, Fe and Se, respectively, in 6% HNO3 were estimated under optimized CCT conditions. These LOQ were improved by a factor of approximately 10 for each element compared to standard mode.Precision under repeatability, intermediate precision reproducibility and trueness have been tested on nine different certified reference materials in foodstuffs of animal origin and on an external proficiency testing scheme. The results obtained for chromium, iron and selenium were in all cases in good agreement with the certified values and trueness was improved, compared to those obtained in standard mode.  相似文献

A detailed study of iron (III)–citrate speciation in aqueous solution (θ = 25 °C, Ic = 0.7 mol L−1) was carried out by voltammetric and UV–vis spectrophotometric measurements and the obtained data were used for reconciled characterization of iron (III)–citrate complexes. Four different redox processes were registered in the voltammograms: at 0.1 V (pH = 5.5) which corresponded to the reduction of iron(III)–monocitrate species (Fe:cit = 1:1), at about −0.1 V (pH = 5.5) that was related to the reduction of FeL25−, FeL2H4− and FeL2H23− complexes, at −0.28 V (pH = 5.5) which corresponded to the reduction of polynuclear iron(III)–citrate complex(es), and at −0.4 V (pH = 7.5) which was probably a consequence of Fe(cit)2(OH)x species reduction. Reversible redox process at −0.1 V allowed for the determination of iron(III)–citrate species and their stability constants by analyzing Ep vs. pH and Ep vs. [L4−] dependence. The UV–vis spectra recorded at varied pH revealed four different spectrally active species: FeLH (log β = 25.69), FeL2H23− (log β = 48.06), FeL2H4− (log β = 44.60), and FeL25− (log β = 38.85). The stability constants obtained by spectrophotometry were in agreement with those determined electrochemically. The UV–vis spectra recorded at various citrate concentrations (pH = 2.0) supported the results of spectrophotometric–potentiometric titration.  相似文献

A multi-pumping flow system (MPFS) for the spectrophotometric determination of dissolved orthophosphate and dissolved organic phosphorus in wastewater samples is proposed. The determination of orthophosphate is based on the vanadomolybdate method. In-line ultraviolet photo-oxidation is employed to mineralise organic phosphorus to orthophosphate prior to detection. A solenoid valve allows the deviation of the flow towards the UV-lamp to carry out the determination of organic phosphorus.Calibration was found to be linear up to 20 mg P L−1, with a detection limit (3sb/S) of 0.08 mg P L−1, an injection throughput of 75 injections h−1 and a repeatability (R.S.D.) of 0.6% for the direct determination of orthophosphate. On the other hand, calibration graphs were linear up to 40 mg P L−1, with a detection limit (3sb/S) of 0.5 mg P L−1, an injection throughput of 11 injections h−1 and a repeatability (R.S.D.) inferior to 2.3% for the procedures involving UV photo-oxidation.  相似文献

A simple and sensitive spectrophotometric flow method for determination of low concentrations of the flotation collector O-ethyldithiocarbonate (ethyl xanthate, CH3CH2-O-CS2) in solutions is described. The method is based on ethyl xanthate detection at 301 nm in medium of NaOH 50 mmol L−1. By injection of 200 μL of sample, the analytical method shows linear response for the ethyl xanthate concentration from 0.5 up to 500 μmol L−1. Successive injections of 4 μmol L−1 ethyl xanthate (n = 23) show a coefficient of variation lower than 0.6%, denoting high repeatability. The detection limit is 0.3 μmol L−1. At a flow rate of 2.0 mL min−1, a frequency of 120 injections/h of ethyl xanthate can be attained. By introduction of a tangential dialysis cell in the FIA system, the manual sample filtration step with 0.22 μm filter was eliminated and the residual interference of suspended material, was completely overcome even for unfiltered sludge suspension samples, an important advantage that compensates for the frequency reduction to 25 injections/h elevation and detection limit elevation to 2 μmol L−1, still outreaching for many applications. Potential applications of the method embrace the at line determination of ethyl xanthate in the ore processing industry, control of the concentration at its optimal level during the flotation process, as well as monitoring of residues in the effluents.  相似文献

Terbium sensitized fluorescence was used as a post-column detection system to develop a simple, sensitive and rapid high-performance liquid chromatographic method for the simultaneous determination of catecholamines norepinephrine (NE), epinephrine (E) and dopamine (DA).Catecholamines were separated by an ion-pair reversed-phase chromatography on a BDS-Hypersil analytical column with a mobile phase of methanol and 50 mmol l−1 acetate buffer (pH 4.7) containing 1.1 mmol l−1 SOS and 0.11 mmol l−1 EDTA (15+85 v/v).Catecholamines and the internal standard (3,4-dihydroxybenzylamine, DHBA) were post-column derivatized by the addition to the eluent of an alkaline solution containing a stoichiometric mixture of terbium(III) chloride and EDTA. Fluorescence detection (λex=300 nm, λem=545 nm) is based on the sensitization of terbium ion fluorescence after complexation with catecholamines. The chemical compatibility between the eluent and the post-column reagent was studied and the analytical characteristics of the method were established. Detection limits found were 1.0×10−8, 4.0×10−8 and 7.0×10−8 mol l−1 for NE, E and DA, respectively. The method has been successfully applied to the determination of catecholamines in urine samples after solid-phase extraction (SPE) pre-treatment. Recoveries from urine spiked with NE (4.0×10−7, 2.0×10−6 and 4.0×10−6 mol l−1), E (8.2×10−8, 4.1×10−7 and 8.2×10−7 mol l−1) and DA (1.0×10−6, 5.0×10−6 and 1.0×10−5 mol l−1) varied from 98 to 100% (mean=99.3%), from 106 to 107% (mean=106.3%) and from 98 to 101% (mean=99.3%), respectively. The between-run precision (relative standard deviation, R.S.D.) for the method for three urine samples at different concentration levels of each catecholamine varied from 3.6 to 7.0%.  相似文献

A 100-fold preconcentration procedure based on rare-earth elements (REEs) separation from water samples with an extraction chromatographic column has been developed. The separation of REEs from matrix elements (mainly Fe, alkaline and alkaline-earth elements) in water samples was performed loading the samples, previously acidified to pH 2.0 with HNO3, in a 2 ml column preconditioned with 20 ml 0.01 M HNO3. Subsequently, REEs were quantitatively eluted with 20 ml 7 M HNO3. This solution was evaporated to dryness and the final residue was dissolved in 10 ml 2% HNO3 containing 1 μg l−1 of cesium used as internal standard. The solution was directly analysed by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), using ultrasonic nebulization, obtaining quantification limits ranging from 0.05 to 0.10 ng l−1. The proposed method has been applied to granitic waters running through fracture fillings coated by iron and manganese oxy-hydroxides in the area of the Ratones (Cáceres, Spain) old uranium mine.  相似文献

This study reports a sensitive solvent extraction flow-injection (FI) method for the simultaneous spectrophotometric determination of free cyanide and thiocyanate in human saliva and pralidoxime solutions. Cyanide and thiocyanate form colored (λmax=540 nm) ternary complexes with copper and 2,2′-dipyridyl-2-quinolylhydrazone (DPQH) that are extractable into chloroform. The determination of thiocyanates in the presence of cyanides is accomplished after on-line masking of the latter with formaldehyde through a binary inlet static mixer (BISM). Total thiocyanates and cyanides are determined in a second run, without the use of the masking agent. The proposed method allows the determination of the analytes in the range of 0-4 mg l−1 thiocyanates and 0-3 mg l−1 cyanides, with the 3σ detection limits being 0.007 and 0.004 mg l−1, respectively. The precision of the method (sr<1.0% at 1 mg l−1 CN or SCN, n=12 in both cases) and the sampling rates were quite satisfactory (60 injections per hour). The method was applied to the analysis of human saliva and pralidoxime solutions and gave recoveries in the range of 98.0-102.2% for both analytes whereas the mean relative error was er=1.7%.  相似文献
