Recently, a new type of Weyl semimetal called type-II Weyl semimetal has been proposed. Unlike the usual (type-I) Weyl semimetal, which has a point-like Fermi surface, this new type of Weyl semimetal has a tilted conical spectrum around the Weyl point. Here we calculate the anomalous Hall conductivity of a Weyl semimetal with a tilted conical spectrum for a pair of Weyl points, using the Kubo formula. We find that the Hall conductivity is not universal and can change sign as a function of the parameters quantifying the tilts. Our results suggest that even for the case where the separation between the Weyl points vanishes, tilting of the conical spectrum could give rise to a finite anomalous Hall effect, if the tilts of the two cones are not identical.

A Weyl ordering product operation (with its representative symbol) is introduced. On the basis of the operation, a technique of integration within a Weyl ordered product is put forward. Application of the technique to the coherent state representation leads us to derive the Weyl ordered forms of some important operators in quantum mechanics, which can be rigorously checked by the relation between our Weyl ordering product operation and the Weyl correspondence rule.

We build holographic p-wave conductor(insulator)/superconductor models via the numerical method with a new form of Weyl coupling in five-dimensional Lifshitz gravity, and then investigate how the Weyl coupling parameter γ and the Lifshitz scaling parameter z affect the superconductor models. In the conductor/superconductor model, an increase in the Weyl correction(Lifshitz scaling)enhances(inhibits) the superconductor phase transition. Meanwhile, both the Weyl correction(when the Lifshitz parameter is large enough and fixed) and the Lifshitz scaling suppress the growth of the real part of the conductivity. The Weyl correction used here(CB~2) shows weaker effects on the critical value than the previous Weyl correction(CF~2). In the insulator/superconductor model, larger vaules of the Weyl parameter hinder the formation of condensate. However, in increase in the Lifshitz scaling enhances the appearance of condensate. In addition, the calculation suggests that a competitive relation may exist between the Weyl correction and the Lifshitz scaling.

Recent theoretical and experimental attempts have been successful in finding magnetic Weyl semimetal phases, which show nodal-point structure in the electronic bands as well as magnetic orders. Beyond uniform ferromagnetic or antiferromagnetic orders, nonuniform magnetic textures, such as domain walls and skyrmions, enrich the properties of the Weyl electrons even more in such materials. Here, a topical review on interplay between Weyl electrons and magnetic textures in those magnetic Weyl semimetals is given. The basics of magnetic textures in nontopological magnetic metals are reviewed first, and then the effect of magnetic textures in Weyl semimetals is discussed, regarding the recent theoretical and experimental progress therein. The idea of the fictitious “axial gauge fields” is pointed out, which effectively describes the effect of magnetic textures on the Weyl electrons and can well account for the properties of the electrons localized around magnetic domain walls.

In the context of the nonlinear coherent state (NLCS) theory we introduce the generalized Weyl orderingoperator formulation. The corresponding generalized Wigner operator turns out to be the Weyl ordered Dirac δ-operatorfunctions. The completeness relation of NLCS is recast into generalized Weyl ordering form. The relationship betweennormal ordering, antinormal ordering and the generalized Weyl ordering is established which constitute a self-consistenttheory for NLCS.

We theoretically study the Casimir interaction between Weyl semimetals. When the distance a between semiinfinite Weyl semimetals is in the micrometer regime, the Casimir attraction can be enhanced by the chiral anomaly. The Casimir attraction depends sensitively on the relative orientations between the separations(b_1,b_2)of Weyl nodes in the Brillouin zone and show anisotropic behavior for the relative orientation of these separations(b_1,b_2) when they orient parallel to the interface. This anisotropy is quite larger than that in conventional birefringent materials. The Casimir force can be repulsive in the micrometer regime if the Weyl semimetal slabs are sufficiently thin and the direction of Weyl nodes separations(b_1,b_2) is perpendicular to the interface. The Casimir attraction between Weyl semimetal slabs decays slower than 1/a4 when the Weyl nodes separations b_1 and b_2 are both parallel to the interface.

By using the Weyl ordering operator formula and the Weyl transformation rule, we derive Weyl ordering of the two-mode Fresnel operator, and then obtain its matrix element in the coordinate representation, which is the integral kernel of the generalized two-mode Fresnel transformation in classical optics. By means of the optical operator method, we obtain a decomposition of the two-mode Fresnel operator’s Weyl ordering and an operator identity.

We re-explain the Weyl quantization scheme by virtue of the technique of integration within Weyl ordered product of operators, i.e., the Weyl correspondence rule can be reconstructed by classical functions' Fourier transformation followed by an inverse Fourier transformation within Weyl ordering of operators. As an application of this reconstruction, we derive the quantum operator coresponding to the angular spectrum amplitude of a spherical wave.

Weyl semimetals and nodal line semimetals display a host of novel properties. Floquet Weyl semimetals with tunable Weyl points can be obtained from nodal line semimetals under the circularly polarized off-resonant light. Here we theoretically investigate the anomalous Nernst effect and orbital magnetization in Floquet Weyl semimetals. Due to the anisotropy of the band structure in Floquet Weyl semimetals, highly anisotropic Berry phase mediated anomalous Nernst effect and orbital magnetization in the absence of magnetic field are observed, indicating orientation-dependent applications in the design of nanodevices. The amplitude and sign of anomalous Nernst coefficient and orbital magnetization can be tuned by the light direction, amplitude and polarization. The effect of the chemical potential on anomalous Nernst coefficient and orbital magnetization is also discussed. The light-modulated anomalous Nernst effect and orbital magnetization make Floquet Weyl semimetals potential candidates for thermoelectric devices.

We investigate high-order harmonic generations (HHGs) under comparison of Weyl cones in two types. Due to the hyperboloidal electron pocket structure, strong noncentrosymmetrical generations in high orders are observed around a single type-II Weyl point, especially at zero frequency. Such a remarkable DC signal is proved to have attributions from the intraband transition after spectral decomposition. Under weak pulse electric field, the linear optical response of a non-tilted Weyl cone is consistent with the Kubo theory. With extensive numerical simulations, we conclude that the non-zero chemical potential can enhance the even-order generations, from the slightly tilted system to the over-tilted systems. In consideration of dynamical symmetries, type-I and type-II Weyl cones also show different selective responses under the circularly polarized light. Finally, using a more realistic model containing two pairs of Weyl points, we demonstrate that paired Weyl points with opposite chirality can suppress the overall even-order generations.

We investigate the low-energy electronic structure of a Weyl semimetal quantum dot(QD) with a simple model Hamiltonian with only two Weyl points. Distinguished from the semiconductor and topological insulator QDs, there exist both surface and bulk states near the Fermi level in Weyl semimetal QDs. The surface state, distributed near the side surface of the QD, contributes a circular persistent current, an orbital magnetic moment, and a chiral spin polarization with spin-current locking. There are always surface states even for a strong magnetic field, even though a given surface state gradually evolves into a Landau level with increasing magnetic field. It indicates that these unique properties can be tuned via the QD size. In addition, we show the correspondence to the electronic structures of a three-dimensional Weyl semimetal, such as Weyl point and Fermi arc. Because a QD has the largest surface-to-volume ratio, it provides a new platform to verify Weyl semimetal by separating and detecting the signals of surface states. Besides, the study of Weyl QDs is also necessary for potential applications in nanoelectronics.

Weak Weyl representations of the canonical commutation relation (CCR) with one degree of freedom are considered in relation to the theory of time operator in quantum mechanics. It is proven that there exists a general structure through which a weak Weyl representation can be constructed from a given weak Weyl representation. As a corollary, it is shown that a Weyl representation of the CCR can be constructed from a weak Weyl representation which satisfies some additional property. Some examples are given. Three-dimensional type-ⅡWeyl fermions possess overtilted cone-like low-energy band dispersion.Unlike the closed ellipsoidal Fermi surface for type-ⅠWeyl fermions, the Fermi surface is an open hyperboloid for type-ⅡWeyl fermions. We evaluate the spin and density susceptibility of type-ⅡWeyl fermions with repulsive S-wave interaction by means of Green’s functions. We obtain the particle–hole continuum along the tilted momentum direction and perpendicular to the tilted momentum direction respectively. We find the zero sound mode in some repulsive interaction strengths by numerically solving the pole equations of the susceptibility within the random-phase approximation.

By means of the Weyl transform we propose to associate phase-spaceoperators, and not functions with the dynamical operators of quantum-mechanics. This way one achieves a consistent and one-to-one mapping of the quantum-mechanical operator calculus unto a phase-space operator calculus in which only variables associated with the canonical variables of position and momenta appear. Contrary to the usual Weyl transform technique, here no composition law is needed for the Weyl transforms. As a consequence the calculus involving Weyl transforms is greatly simplified, which we demonstrate at two examples.

The type-II Weyl and type-II Dirac points emerge in semimetals and in relativistic systems. In particular, the type-II Weyl fermions may emerge behind the event horizon of black holes. The type-II Weyl and Dirac points also emerge as the intermediate states of the topological Lifshitz transitions. In one case, the type-II Weyl point connects the Fermi pockets, and the Lifshitz transition corresponds to the transfer of the Berry flux between the Fermi pockets. In the other case, the type-II Weyl point connects the outer and inner Fermi surfaces. At the Lifshitz transition, the Weyl point is released from both Fermi surfaces. They loose their Berry flux, which guarantees the global stability, and without the topological support, the inner surface disappears after shrinking to a point at the second Lifshitz transition. These examples reveal the complexity and universality of topological Lifshitz transitions, which originate from the ubiquitous interplay of a variety of topological characters of the momentum-space manifolds.

Using the contact structure on Weyl manifold, we introduce degree operator fields. The degree operator field gives a fiberwise decomposition of Weyl manifold with respect to eigenvalues. We remark that this decomposition canonically gives a symplectic connection and also a Fedosov connection on the Weyl manifold.
