This paper is first of the two papers dealing with analytical investigation of resonant multi-modal dynamics due to 2:1 internal resonances in the finite-amplitude free vibrations of horizontal/inclined cables. Part I deals with theoretical formulation and validation of the general cable model. Approximate nonlinear partial differential equations of 3-D coupled motion of small sagged cables – which account for both spatio-temporal variation of nonlinear dynamic tension and system asymmetry due to inclined sagged configurations – are presented. A multi-dimensional Galerkin expansion of the solution of nonplanar/planar motion is performed, yielding a complete set of system quadratic/cubic coefficients. With the aim of parametrically studying the behavior of horizontal/inclined cables in Part II [25], a second-order asymptotic analysis under planar 2:1 resonance is accomplished by the method of multiple scales. On accounting for higher-order effects of quadratic/cubic nonlinearities, approximate closed-form solutions of nonlinear amplitudes, frequencies and dynamic configurations of resonant nonlinear normal modes reveal the dependence of cable response on resonant/nonresonant modal contributions. Depending on simplifying kinematic modeling and assigned system parameters, approximate horizontal/inclined cable models are thoroughly validated by numerically evaluating statics and non-planar/planar linear/non-linear dynamics against those of the exact model. Moreover, the modal coupling role and contribution of system longitudinal dynamics are discussed for horizontal cables, showing some meaningful effects due to kinematic condensation.  相似文献

The near-resonant response of suspended, elastic cables driven by planar excitation is investigated using a two degree-of-fredom model. The model captures the interaction of a symmetric in-plane mode and an out-of-plane mode with near commensurable natural frequencies in a 2:1 ratio. The modes are coupled through quadratic and cubic nonlinearities arising from nonlinear cable stretching. The existence and stability of periodic solutions are investigated using a second order perturbation analysis. The first order analysis shows that suspended cables may exhibit saturation and jump phenomena. The second order analysis, however, reveals that the cubic nonlinearities and higher order corrections disrupt saturation. The stable, steady state solutions for the second order analysis compare favorably with results obtained by numerically integrating the equations of motion.  相似文献

The cable net supported glass curtain wallas the most advanced technique in dot point supported glass curtain wall, is widely used in China. Because of its large deflection and high nonlinearity under wind load, the dynamic performance of the cable net is greatly different from that of the conventional linear structures. The continuous membrane theory is used to construct the nonlinear vibration differential equation of the cable net, and the harmonic balance method is used to solve the analytic formula of the nonlinear frequency. In order to verify the accuracy of the above analytic formula, the results of the formula and the nonlinear FEM time-history method are compared and found to be in good agreement. Furthermore, the nonlinear vibration differential equation and the nonlinear frequency obtained in this paper are the basis for the wind-induced response analysis of a cable net under fluctuating wind load.

An analytical model is proposed to study the nonlinear interactions between beam and cable dynamics in stayed-systems. The integro-differential problem, describing the in-plane motion of a simple cable-stayed beam, presents quadratic and cubic nonlinearities both in the cable equation and at the boundary conditions. Mainly studied are the effects of quadratic interactions, appearing at relatively low oscillation amplitude. To this end an analysis of the sensitivity of modal properties to parameter variations, in intervals of technical interest, has evidenced the occurrence of one-to-two and two-to-one internal resonances between global and local modes. The interactions between the resonant modes evidences two different sources of oscillation in cables, illustrated by simple 2dof discrete models. In the one-to-two global–local resonance, a novel mechanism is analyzed, by which cable undergoes large periodic and chaotic oscillations due to an energy transfer from the low-global to high-local frequencies. In two-to-one global–local resonance, the well-known parametric-induced cable oscillation in stayed-systems is correctly reinterpreted through the autoparametric resonance between a global and a local mode. Increasing the load the saturation of the global oscillations evidences the energy transfer from high-global to low-local frequencies, producing large cable oscillations. In both cases, the effects of detuning from internal and external resonance are presented.  相似文献

The nonlinear dynamics of a simply supported beam resting on a nonlinear spring bed with cubic stiffness is analyzed. The continuous differential operator describing the mathematical model of the system is discretized through the classical Galerkin procedure and its nonlinear dynamic behavior is investigated using the method of Normal Forms. This model can be regarded as a simple system describing the oscillations of flexural structures vibrating on nonlinear supports and then it can be considered as a simple investigation for the analysis of more complex systems of the same type. Indeed, the possibility of the model to exhibit actually interesting nonlinear phenomena (primary, superharmonic, subharmonic and internal resonances) has been shown in a range of feasibility of the physical parameters. The singular perturbation approach is used to study both the free and the forced oscillations; specifically two parameter families of stationary solutions are obtained for the forced oscillations.  相似文献

The dynamic behavior of the simplest possible cable net is studied in this paper, consisting of two crossing cables in perpendicular vertical planes, having the same span and opposite sags. A concentrated mass is attached at the central node, and only the vertical translational degree of freedom is assumed as active. First, the static behavior is explored up to the load level that causes tensile cable failure. Then, the dynamic response is investigated for different resonant conditions and is found to give significantly larger amplitudes with respect to the static ones, even for loading frequencies away from the eigenfrequency of the system. In order to derive analytical solutions, the equation of motion is simplified and the cable net is proved to be a Duffing oscillator. For the simplified problem, the occurrence of nonlinear phenomena is verified analytically, such as bending of the response curve, jump phenomena, instability regions, dependence on the initial conditions, and superharmonic and subharmonic resonances. These phenomena are also detected by means of numerical analyses. A comparison between the exact model and the simplified one shows that the analytical solution of the Duffing equation describes the dynamic behavior of the cable net with satisfactory accuracy.  相似文献

Non-linear dynamics of an elastic cable under planar excitation   总被引:9,自引:0,他引:9
The phenomena of the finite forced dynamics of a suspended cable associated with the quadratic and cubic non-linearities in the equations of motion are studied. A high-order perturbation analysis for the primary resonance is accomplished and numerical results are presented for the frequency-response equation and the region of instability of the steady-state solutions. Multivaluedness of the response curves is shown to occur with different characteristics depending on the cable and forcing parameters. The dependence of the response on the initial conditions is examined by means of the trajectories of the unsteady-state motions.  相似文献

The near resonant response of suspended, elastic cables driven by planar excitation is investigated using a three degree-of-freedom model. The model captures the interaction of a symmetric in-plane mode with two out-of-plane modes. The modes are coupled through quadratic and cubic nonlinearities arising from nonlinear cable stretching. For particular magnitudes of equilibrium curvature, the natural frequency of the in-plane mode is simultaneously commensurable with the natural frequencies of the two out-of-plane modes in 1:1 and 2:1 ratios. A second nonlinear order perturbation analysis is used to determine the existence and stability of four classes of periodic solutions. The perturbation solutions are compared with results obtained by numerically integrating the equations of motion. Furthermore, numerical simulations demonstrate the existence of quasiperiodic responses.A portion of this work was presented at the 1992 ASME Winter Annual Meeting, Anaheim, CA.  相似文献

The non-linear normal modes (NNMs) and their bifurcation of a complex two DOF system are investigated systematically in this paper. The coupling and ground springs have both quadratic and cubic non-linearity simultaneously. The cases of ω1:ω2=1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 are discussed, respectively, as well as the case of no internal resonance. Approximate solutions for NNMs are computed by applying the method of multiple scales, which ensures that NNM solutions can asymtote to linear normal modes as the non-linearity disappears. According to the procedure, NNMs can be classified into coupled and uncoupled modes. It is found that coupled NNMs exist for systems with any kind of internal resonance, but uncoupled modes may appear or not appear, depending on the type of internal resonance. For systems with 1:1 internal resonance, uncoupled NNMs exist only when coefficients of cubic non-linear terms describing the ground springs are identical. For systems with 1:2 or 1:3 internal resonance, in additional to one uncoupled NNM, there exists one more uncoupled NNM when the coefficients of quadratic or cubic non-linear terms describing the ground springs are identical. The results for the case of internal resonance are consistent with ones for no internal resonance. For the case of 1:2 internal resonance, the bifurcation of the coupled NNM is not only affected by cubic but also by quadratic non-linearity besides detuning parameter although for the cases of 1:1 and 1:3 internal resonance, only cubic non-linearity operate. As a check of the analytical results, direct numerical integrations of the equations of motion are carried out.  相似文献

Large cable net structures have been widely applied in aerospace engineering due to the feature of light-weight, high packaging efficiency, and high thermal stability. Structural vibrations induced by a variety of disturbances are inevitable in the space environment, resulting in the requirement of effective vibration control strategies for large cable net structures. Since the large cable net structures have many closely spaced vibrational modes in the range of low frequencies, traditional modal based control may cause modal truncation and spillover problems. In this paper, a wave-based boundary control strategy is adopted and its effectiveness to control the vibration of cable net structures is investigated, by transfer function analysis and numerical methods. It is found that the structural vibration can be absolutely resisted by applying the wave-based boundary controllers onto all the exterior nodes, when disturbances come from the external boundaries of the cable net. Our results in this paper can provide a theoretical basis for the vibration control of large cable net structures.  相似文献

The nonlinear dynamics of a hybrid Rayleigh–Van der Pol–Duffing oscillator includes pure and impure quadratic damping are investigated. The multiple timescales method is used to study exhaustively various resonances states. It is noticed that the system presents nine resonances states. The frequency response curves of quintic, third and second superharmonic, and subharmonic resonances states are obtained. Bistability, hysteresis, and jump phenomenon are also obtained. It is pointed out that these resonance phenomena are strongly related to the nonlinear cubic and quadratic damping and to the external force. The numerical simulations are used to make bifurcation sequences displayed by the model for each type of oscillatory. It is noticed that the pure quadratic, impure cubic damping, and external excitation affect regular and chaotic states.  相似文献

In this paper an inclined nearly taut stay, belonging to a cable-stayed bridge, is considered. It is subject to a prescribed motion at one end, caused by traveling vehicles, and embedded in a wind flow blowing simultaneously with rain. The cable is modeled as a non-planar, nonlinear, one-dimensional continuum, possessing torsional and flexural stiffness. The lower end of the cable is assumed to undergo a vertical sinusoidal motion of given amplitude and frequency. The wind flow is assumed uniform in space and constant in time, acting on the cable along which flows a rain rivulet. The imposed motion is responsible for both external and parametric excitations, while the wind flow produces aeroelastic instability. The relevant equations of motion are discretized via the Galerkin method, by taking one in-plane and one out-of-plane symmetric modes as trial functions. The two resulting second-order, non-homogeneous, time-periodic, ordinary differential equations are coupled and contain quadratic and cubic nonlinearities, both in the displacements and velocities. They are tackled by the Multiple Scale perturbation method, which leads to first-order amplitude-phase modulation equations, governing the slow dynamics of the cable. The wind speed, the amplitude of the support motion and the internal and external frequency detunings are set as control parameters. Numerical path-following techniques provide bifurcation diagrams as functions of the control parameters, able to highlight the interactions between in-plane and out-of-plane motions, as well as the effects of the simultaneous presence of the three sources of excitation.  相似文献

A dynamic model for an inclined carbon ?ber reinforced polymer(CFRP)cable is established, and the linear and nonlinear dynamic behaviors are investigated in detail. The partial differential equations for both the in-plane and out-of-plane dynamics of the inclined CFRP cable are obtained by Hamilton's principle. The linear eigenvalues are explored theoretically. Then, the ordinary differential equations for analyzing the dynamic behaviors are obtained by the Galerkin integral and dimensionless treatments. The steady-state solutions of the nonlinear equations are obtained by the multiple scale method(MSM) and the Newton-Raphson method. The frequency-and force-response curves are used to investigate the dynamic behaviors of the inclined CFRP cable under simultaneous internal(between the lowest in-plane and out-of-plane modes) and external resonances, i.e., the primary resonances induced by the excitations of the in-plane mode, the out-of-plane mode, and both the in-plane mode and the out-of-plane mode, respectively. The effects of the key parameters, e.g., Young's modulus, the excitation amplitude, and the frequency on the dynamic behaviors, are discussed in detail. Some interesting phenomena and results are observed and concluded.  相似文献

Autoparametric interaction and the associated phenomenon of amplitude saturation are experimentally observed in a physical model of cable-and-beam structure. In this system, the horizontal beam is fixed at one end and supported at the other end by an inclined taut cable. The longitudinal axes of beam and cable are in a vertical plane. Three natural frequencies of the system are approximately of the ratio 1:1:2. This is a combination of two conditions that are very likely to occur in relatively long-span, multi-stay-cable bridges, namely, 1:1 tuning and 1:2 superharmonic tuning. While the beam is vertically excited with sufficiently large force near a primary resonance, the cable vibrates horizontally at half of excitation frequency. The beam also vibrates horizontally at half-frequency, as well as vertically. As the vertical excitation on the bean is further increased in amplitude, the vertical vibration amplitude gets saturated instead of increasing proportionately. A 3DOF analytical model of the structure is also derived, where the finite motion of the cable introduces geometric nonlinearities in quadratic and cubic forms. The system parameters having been carefully measured from the experimental model, steady-state solutions of the coupled nonlinear equations of motion are obtained, by the perturbation method of multiple time scales. Agreement between experimental observation and analytical prediction is very good, both qualitatively and quantitatively. Very good agreement is found also in the case of horizontal excitation of the beam, where effects of linear and nonlinear interaction are apparent.  相似文献
