We highlight the alternative presentation of the Cauchy-Riemann conditions for the analyticity of a complex variable function and consider plane equilibrium problem for an elastic transversely isotropic layer, in finite deformation. We state the fundamental problems and consider traction boundary value problem, as an example of fundamental problem-one. A simple solution of “Lame's problem” for an infinite layer is obtained. The profile of the deformed contour is given; and this depends on the order of the term used in the power series specification for the complex potential and on the material constants of the medium.  相似文献

Numerical solution of hyperbolic partial differential equation with an integral condition continues to be a major research area with widespread applications in modern physics and technology. Many physical phenomena are modeled by nonclassical hyperbolic boundary value problems with nonlocal boundary conditions. In place of the classical specification of boundary data, we impose a nonlocal boundary condition. Partial differential equations with nonlocal boundary specifications have received much attention in last 20 years. However, most of the articles were directed to the second‐order parabolic equation, particularly to heat conduction equation. We will deal here with new type of nonlocal boundary value problem that is the solution of hyperbolic partial differential equations with nonlocal boundary specifications. These nonlocal conditions arise mainly when the data on the boundary can not be measured directly. Several finite difference methods have been proposed for the numerical solution of this one‐dimensional nonclassic boundary value problem. These computational techniques are compared using the largest error terms in the resulting modified equivalent partial differential equation. Numerical results supporting theoretical expectations are given. Restrictions on using higher order computational techniques for the studied problem are discussed. Suitable references on various physical applications and the theoretical aspects of solutions are introduced at the end of this article. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We introduce a type of full multigrid method for the nonlinear eigenvalue problem. The main idea is to transform the solution of the nonlinear eigenvalue problem into a series of solutions of the corresponding linear boundary value problems on the sequence of finite element spaces and nonlinear eigenvalue problems on the coarsest finite element space. The linearized boundary value problems are solved by some multigrid iterations. Besides the multigrid iteration, all other efficient iteration methods for solving boundary value problems can serve as the linear problem solver. We prove that the computational work of this new scheme is truly optimal, the same as solving the linear corresponding boundary value problem. In this case, this type of iteration scheme certainly improves the overfull efficiency of solving nonlinear eigenvalue problems. Some numerical experiments are presented to validate the efficiency of the new method.  相似文献

In this paper we find conditions guarantee that irregular boundary value problems for elliptic differential-operator equations of the second order in an interval are fredholm. We apply this result to find some algebraic conditions guarantee that irregular boundary value problems for elliptic partial differential equations of the second order in cylindrical domains are fredholm. Apparently this is the first paper where the regularity of an elliptic boundary value problem is not satisfied on a manifold of the dimension equal to dimension of the boundary. Nevertheless the problem is fredholm and the resolvent is compact. It is interesting to note that the considered boundary value problems for elliptic equations in a cylinder being with separating variables are noncoercive.  相似文献

Mixed elliptic boundary value problems are characterised by conditions which have a jump along an interface of codimension 1 on the boundary. We study such problems in weighted edge spaces and show the Fredholm property and the existence of parametrices under additional conditions of trace and potential type on the interface. We develop a new method for computing the interface conditions in terms of the index of boundary value problems in weighted spaces on infinite cones, combined with structures from the calculus of boundary value problems on a manifold with edges. This will be illustrated by the Zaremba problem and other mixed problems for the Laplace operator. The approach itself is completely general.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is defining a new boundary value problem for Yang-Mills connections, which is the most general in the context of Neumann-type problems for forms. We achieve this by reflecting the base manifold across the boundary, and lifting this action non-trivially to the bundle. This way we obtain a twisted boundary value problem in which the boundary conditions are mixed, of Dirichlet type on some of the Lie-algebra components of the connection A, of Neumann type on others. This problem arises naturally and it can be viewed in the context of generalizing non-linear Hodge theory for connections. We prove a good gauge theorem for this problem. We give an application.  相似文献

We consider extremal problems for the time-harmonic Maxwell equations with mixed boundary conditions for the electric field. Namely, the tangential component of the electric field is given on one part of the boundary, and an impedance boundary condition is posed on the other part. We prove the solvability of the original mixed boundary value problem and the extremal problem. We obtain sufficient conditions on the input data ensuring the stability of solutions of specific extremal problems under certain perturbations of both the performance functional and some functions occurring in the boundary value problem.  相似文献

We study first-order nonlinear planar Hamiltonian boundary value problems on time scales. Estimates on lower bounds for the eigenvalues of the problems are established by way of the Lyapunov inequality method. Our results are interpreted to nonlinear differential and difference planar Hamiltonian boundary value problems. As a special case, an estimate on lower bounds for eigenvalues of half-linear dynamic equations is obtained which generalizes and improves the existing ones to nonlinear Hamiltonian systems. Based on the main results, we establish existence and uniqueness of solutions of a related linear boundary value problem.  相似文献

We solve state observation problems for string vibrations, i.e., problems in which the initial conditions generating the observed string vibrations should be reconstructed from a given string state at two distinct time instants. The observed vibrations are described by the boundary value problem for the wave equation with homogeneous boundary conditions of the first kind. The observation problem is considered for classical and L 2-generalized solutions of this boundary value problem.  相似文献

We study some boundary value problems on two-dimensional polygonal topological networks, where on each face, the considered operator is the biharmonic operator. The transmission conditions we impose along the edges are inspired by the models introduced by H. Le Dret [13] and Destuynder and Nevers [9]. The boundary conditions on the external edges are the classical ones. This class of problem contains the boundary value problems for the biharmonic equation in a plane polygon (see [3, 11, 12, 18]). Conforming to the classical results cited above, we prove that the weak solution of our problem admits a decomposition into a regular part and a singular part, the latter being a linear combination of singular functions depending on the domain and the considered boundary value problem. Finally, we give the exact formula for the coefficients of these singularities.  相似文献

We present an approximate method for the numerical solution of linear singularly perturbed two point boundary value problems in ordinary differential equations with a boundary layer on the left end of the underlying interval. It is motivated by the asymptotic behavior of singular perturbation problems. The original problem is divided into inner and outer region problems. The reduced problem is solved to obtain the terminal boundary condition. Then, a new inner region problem is created and solved as a two point boundary value problem. In turn, the outer region problem is also modified and the resulting problem is efficiently treated by employing the trapezoidal formula coupled with discrete invariant imbedding algorithm. The proposed method is iterative on the terminal point. Some numerical experiments have been included to demonstrate its applicability.  相似文献

Certain problems arising in engineering are modeled by nonstandard parabolic initial‐boundary value problems in one space variable, which involve an integral term over the spatial domain of a function of the desired solution. Hence, in the past few years interest has substantially increased in the solutions of these problems. As a result numerous research papers have also been devoted to the subject. Although considerable amount of work has been done in the past, there is still a lack of a completely satisfactory computational scheme. Also, there are some cases that have not been studied numerically yet. In the current article several approaches for the numerical solution of the one‐dimensional parabolic equation subject to the specification of mass, which have been considered in the literature, are reported. Finite difference methods have been proposed for the numerical solution of the new nonclassic boundary value problem. To investigate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we consider solving a test problem. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2006  相似文献

We present a method of factorization for linear elliptic boundary value problems considered in non-cylindrical domains. We associate a control problem to the boundary value problem which regularizes it. The technique of change of variables is used to study this problem.  相似文献

We develop a new effective method for solving boundary value problems in kinetic theory. The method permits solving boundary value problems for mirror and diffusive boundary conditions with an arbitrary accuracy and is based on the idea of reducing the original problem to two problems of which one has a diffusion boundary condition for the reflection of molecules from the wall and the other has a mirror boundary condition. We illustrate this method with two classical problems in kinetic theory: the Kramers problem (isothermal slip) and the thermal slip problem. We use the Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook equation (with a constant collision frequency) and the Williams equation (with a collision frequency proportional to the molecular velocity).__________Translated from Teoreticheskaya i Matematicheskaya Fizika, Vol. 143, No. 3, pp. 437–454, June, 2005.  相似文献

This article is an immediate continuation of [1]. Solution of the Lyapunov equation leads to a boundary value problem for the first-order hyperbolic equations in two variables with data on the boundary of the unit square. In general, the problems of this kind are not normally solvable. We prove that the boundary value problems in question possess the Fredholm property under some conditions.  相似文献

In this paper we find conditions that guarantee that irregular boundary value problems for elliptic differential-operator equations of the second order in an interval are coercive with a defect and fredholm; compactness of a resolvent and estimations by spectral parameter; completeness of root functions. We apply this result to find some algebraic conditions that guarantee that irregular boundary value problems for elliptic partial differential equations of the second order in cylindrical domains have the same properties. Apparently this is the first paper where the regularity of an elliptic boundary value problem is not satisfied on a manifold of the dimension equal to the dimension of the boundary. Nevertheless, the problem is fredholm and the resolvent is compact. It is interesting to note that the considered boundary value problems for elliptic equations in a cylinder being with separating variables are noncoercive. We study control problems for the stationary magnetohydrodynamic equations. In these problems, one has to find an unknown vector function occurring in the boundary condition for the magnetic field and the solution of the boundary value problem in question by minimizing a performance functional depending on the velocity and pressure. We derive new a priori estimates for the solutions of the original boundary value problem and the extremal problem and prove theorems on the local uniqueness and stability of solutions for specific performance functionals.  相似文献

We consider a linear steady-state eddy-current problem for a magnetic field in a bounded domain. The boundary consists of two parts: reachable with prescribed Cauchy data and unreachable with no data on it. We design an iterative (Landweber type) algorithm for solution of this problem. At each iteration step two auxiliary mixed well-posed boundary value problems are solved. The analysis of temporary problems is performed in suitable function spaces. This creates the basis for the convergence argument. The theoretical results are supported with numerical experiments.  相似文献
