A thermal analysis study was made of tetracene using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The effect of different scan speeds was investigated. At scan speeds of 0.625 to 10°C min?1 two large rounded exothermic peaks were produced. The peaks occurred at an increasingly high temperature as the scan speed increased (for example, the peaks occurred at 128 and 130°C at a scan speed of 0.625°C min?1 and at 148 and 150°C at a scan speed of 10°C min?1. When tetracene was heated at a scan speed of 80°C min?1 only one large sharp exothermic peak was produced. It is believed that the two peaks obtained at scan speeds of 0.625 to 10°C min?1 represent decomposition of the tetracene in two successive stages, while the one peak obtained at 80°C min?1 represents an explosion. A stability test for tetracene is proposed that involves heating of the tetracene in aluminum pans from the DSC apparatus in ovens at 100, 75, and 60°C, removing the pans and samples at intervals of 30 min, 24 h, and 7 days, respectively, subjecting the samples to DSC at 1.25°C min?1, and noting the time interval in the oven that produces a DSC curve that shows obliteration of the second peak. Two lots of tetracene made by different processes showed marked differences in stability characteristics.  相似文献

Drought poses a serious threat to oilseed crops by lowering yield and crop failures under prolonged spells. A multi-year field investigation was conducted to enhance the drought tolerance in four genotypes of Camelina and canola by selenium (Se) application. The principal aim of the research was to optimize the crop yield by eliciting the physio-biochemical attributes by alleviating the adverse effects of drought stress. Both crops were cultivated under control (normal irrigation) and drought stress (skipping irrigation at stages i.e., vegetative and reproductive) conditions. Four different treatments of Se viz., seed priming with Se (75 μM), foliar application of Se (7.06 μM), foliar application of Se + Seed priming with Se (7.06 μM and 75 μM, respectively) and control (without Se), were implemented at the vegetative and reproductive stages of both crops. Sodium selenite (Na2SeO3), an inorganic compound was used as Se sources for both seed priming and foliar application. Data regarding physiochemical, antioxidants, and yield components were recorded as response variables at crop maturity. Results indicated that WP, OP, TP, proline, TSS, TFAA, TPr, TS, total chlorophyll contents, osmoprotectant (GB, anthocyanin, TPC, and flavonoids), antioxidants (APX, SOD, POD, and CAT), and yield components (number of branches per plant, thousand seed weight, seed, and biological yields were significantly improved by foliar Se + priming Se in both crops under drought stress. Moreover, this treatment was also helpful in boosting yield attributes under irrigated (non-stress) conditions. Camelina genotypes responded better to Se application as seed priming and foliar spray than canola for both years. It has concluded that Se application (either foliar or priming) can potentially alleviate adverse effects of drought stress in camelina and canola by eliciting various physio-biochemicals attributes under drought stress. Furthermore, Se application was also helpful for crop health under irrigated condition.  相似文献

The physical stability of amorphous drug in solid dispersion was estimated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Tolbutamide (TB) and flurbiprofen (FBP) were selected as insoluble drugs in water. Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) was selected as a polymer for solid dispersion. Solid dispersions of various ratios of TB or FBP and PVP-K25 were prepared by solvent evaporation method and the induction period of crystallization from amorphous drug in solid dispersion was measured by DSC. Compared with FBP, the induction period of crystallization from TB was delayed by an addition of PVP. The improvement of the physical stability by the addition of PVP-K25 was estimated from the activation energy of diffusion of drug molecules and the interfacial free energy between drug crystal and supercooled liquid of drug in solid dispersion. From thses results, the hindrance of the diffusivity of the drug molecule might be mainly affected the delay of the induction period of crystallization of TB and FBP.  相似文献

A new method for determining the degree of conversion of gelation (gel) and gel time (t gel) at gel point using a single technology, DSC, is discussed in this work. Four kinds of thermoset resins are evaluated. It is found that the mutation points of reduced reaction rate (V r ) vs. reaction conversion () curves, corresponding with the changes of reaction mechanism, represents the gelation of the reaction. The at the mutation point is defined as gel. From isothermal DSC curves, the point at gel is defined ast gel. Traditional techniques (ASTM D3532 and DSC method) are also used to determine gel andt gel in order to demonstrate this new method. We have found that the results obtained from this new method are very consistent with the results obtained from traditional methods.  相似文献

Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TG) were used in order to evaluate the thermal stability of an enalapril maleate formulation packaged in two types of packaging, polyvinyl chloride/aluminum blister and aluminum strip. Enalapril and the excipients employed in the formulation were also evaluated by TG and DSC. Tablets were analyzed before and after storage in an acclimatized room at 40 °C and relative humidity of 75 % for 90 days. The DSC and TG results were compared with the results of dosage of enalapril and related compounds obtained by high-performance liquid chromatography. These results indicate an occurrence of chemical interaction between enalapril maleate and the excipients during its storage. After storage, it was observed that the enalapril content reduced and the predominant degradation product was diketopiperazine for both types of packaging. The predominance of diketopiperazine could be related to the absence of sodium bicarbonate in the tablets, alkalinizing agent employed in the thermal stabilization of the drug.  相似文献

The thermal stability of the bovine whey proteins.; β-lactoglobulin (β-1g), α-lactalbumin (α-1a) and serum albumin (BSA) was studied individually and in mixtures in the temperature range 25–140°C by differential scanning calorimetry. The thermal denaturation temperature (TD) and the transition enthalpies (ΔHapp) were determined at different pH-values (3.0–10.0) in simulated milk ultrafil-trate (SMUF).β-Lg was, except at pH 9.0 and 10.0, the most thermostable protein at all pH-values. At acidic pH-values BSA was the least thermostable. At alkaline pH-values, however, α-la had lower thermal stability than BSA. α-La exhibited double peak behaviour at acidic pH-values and ΔHapp was dependent on Ca-content. Mixtures of the proteins were studied at pH 4.0, 5.0 and 6.6. In general, when mixed, the proteins seemed to denaturate independently of each other.  相似文献

The study evaluated the applicability of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) for the detection of water content in butter. High correlation coefficients were found between the water content and the enthalpies of the ice melting/water crystallization. The correlation equations were adopted to calculate the water content for seven tested kinds of butter, and the results were compared with the values, obtained by using the reference method. The difference between the water content determined by the reference method and by DSC ranged between 0.2 and 2.6% for the measured enthalpy of ice melting, and between 1 and 5.6% for the enthalpy of water crystallization. In relation to the data obtained, it can be concluded that the parameter of ice melting enthalpy can be used in the identification of adulterations or confirmation of butter authenticity.  相似文献

Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) studies show that poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) exhibits three transition regions below its melting point. The effects of annealing on the intensity and temperature of these transitions enable us to locate T < Tg (Tγ) Tg, and Tα at about 130–140. 190–240, and 263–313°K, respectively. Our results argue for a small transition Tg (L) at 190–200°K with a second Tg (U) above 233°K, the temperature of which increases on annealing. The shape of DSC derivative curves reveals that T < Tg and Tα are complex and suggests the possibility of two steps in these processes. In addition, a splitting of Tα is observed every time a multiple melting endotherm appears as a result of annealing. Up to three separate melting endotherms can be observed. One of them is related to the normal primary crystallization process. Its peak temperature increases linearly with the annealing temperature, yielding an extrapolated value for the equilibrium melting temperature T of 347°K as found before.  相似文献

This study examines the polymerization of dental monomers catalyzed by synthesized acylphosphine oxides in a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) cell. This research focuses on establishing a relationship between radicals generated by the acylphosphine oxide photoinitiators and the kinetic reaction rates of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and acrylamide (ACM), a model monomer. The thermal stability of mono- and di-acylphosphine oxides was examined by DSC. Endothermic melting and exothermic polymerization reactions initiated with the two initiators were recorded. The acrylamide model system laid the ground work for the critical evaluation of the synthesized new initiators of mono (2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl) diphenylphosphine oxide, and bis(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl) phenylphosphine oxide. The bis(acyl) phosphine oxide photoinitiator was more reactive than the mono-(acyl) phosphine oxide with methyl methacrylates under laboratory conditions. In exothermic reactions, temperatures rose higher and more rapidly for bis(acyl) phosphine oxide initiated reactions than mono-(acyl) phosphine oxide initiated reactions.  相似文献

Kinetics of polyurethane formation between several polyols and isocyanates with dibutyltin dilaurate (DBTDL) as the curing catalyst, were studied in the bulk state by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) using an improved method of interpretation. The molar enthalpy of urethane formation from secondary hydroxyl groups and aliphatic isocyanates is 72±3 kJ mol-1 and for aromatic isocyanates it is 55±2 kJ mol-1 . In the case of a single second order reaction for aliphatic isocyanates reaction, activation energy is 70±5 kJ mol-1 with oxypropylated polyols and 50±3 kJ mol-1 with Castor oil. For aromatic isocyanates and oxypropylated polyols the activation energy is higher around 77 kJ mol-1 . In the case of two parallel reactions (situation for IPDI and TDI 2-4) best fits are observed considering two different activation energies.  相似文献

A formulation of nifedipine tablets was prepared in the present research. The tablets were conditioned in amber-colored glass containers and placed in a climatized room at 40°C and relative humidity of 75% for 180 days. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TG) were used in order to evaluate the thermal properties of nifedipine, the excipients and two well-known nifedipine degradation products. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetry (TG) were used in order to evaluate the thermal properties of nifedipine, the excipients and two well-known nifedipine degradation products. There is no evidence of interaction between nifedipine and excipients or degradation products. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used in the dosage of nifedipine tablets before and after acclimatized exposure. Results show that DSC and TG offer important data for a more detailed assessment of the stability of a pharmaceutical formulation.  相似文献

The melting profiles of palm oil, palm olein, and soft palm mid fraction were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) before, during and after enzymatic interesterification. The DSC melting profiles of the three palm fats changed drastically due to the random redistribution of the fatty acids on the glycerol occurring upon interesterification. A high melting peak (already present for native palm oil) was observed for the three interesterified products and attributed to the increase in trisaturated triacylglycerols; modifications of the shape of the medium-melting peak (observed in the three products) were attributed to modifications within the mono-unsaturated triacylglycerols. In view of the drastic changes observed, the applicability of DSC to monitor enzymatic interesterification reactions was considered. While the degree of interesterification was supposed to be completed after 8 h according to the HPLC data, significant modifications were still observed within the DSC melting profiles. Minor changes within the structure of the medium-melting peak were selected as indicator of the reaction progress, and it was shown that intensities of DSC melting endotherms can be used to monitor the enzymatic interesterification reaction of these palm products.  相似文献

The seafood industry produces over 100 million pounds of seashell waste every year. With landfill space diminishing quickly, ways to recycle waste materials are becoming more sought for. Herein, we utilized waste mussel, clam and oyster shells as heterogeneous catalysts for the transesterification of Camelina sativa oil as a feedstock into biodiesel. Camelina sativa oil provides a reliable solution for biodiesel production because it has high tolerance of cold weather, drought, low-fertility soils and contains approximately 40% oil content. The catalysts from waste seashells were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. High biodiesel yields were achieved at a 12:1 (alcohol:oil) molar ratio with 1?wt.% waste seashell catalysts in 2?h at 65°C. Biodiesel was analyzed by 1H NMR and FTIR spectroscopy and the fuel properties of the biodiesel produced from Camelina sativa oil and waste seashells were compared with American Society for Testing and Materials standards.  相似文献

The established procedure for the estimation of purity from differential calorimetric melting range results involves empirical linearization of the data, which can be time consuming and may introduce a subjective element into the calculation. This is sometimes thought to be a disadvantage of the method. The amount of heat that is required to gasify unit mass of material is one of the key properties that define its ignition resistance and fire response. Knowledge of this property is necessary to assess a material's fire hazard in a particular fire scenario. Nevertheless, even for the most common polymers the values of this property are not well established. Here we present a method for determining the heat of gasification using differential scanning calorimetry and apply this method to a set of ten common plastics and engineering polymers.  相似文献
