We examine the electromagnetic disturbance created by a linearly expanding, ideally conducting cylinder in an external uniform magnetic field with account for effects of order v/c (v is the boundary velocity).The problem of uniform magnetic field compression in a contracting cylindrical cavity with ideally conducting walls with radius decreasing linearly with time was solved in [1]. The problem of nonstationary acceleration of a conducting gas in a channel is solved, together with the problem of a discharge in an electric-circuit. As distinct from other papers, in which the typical solution assumed a thin cluster subject to acceleration, we examine the case in which the gas flow fills the entire channel. The motion of the gas in the channel is examined in one-dimensional formulation, under the assumption that the particle transit time in the channel is small compared to the discharge time and that the electromagnetic force is large compared to the pressure gradient.For impulsive acceleration of the conducting gas, use is made of a discharge with a certain capacitance. Since the (time-variable) resistance of the channel and, consequently, the behavior of the discharge depend upon the channel flow of the conducting gas, the correct solution of the problem of gas acceleration in the induced electromagnetic field can be obtained only by analyzing simultaneously the magnetogasdynamic channel flow and the discharge process in the entire electric circuit. On the other hand, the acceleration of the gas itself is a function of the instantaneous potential difference at the electrodes. Hitherto, such simultaneous solutions were obtained by many investigators under the assumption, proposed in [1], that a channel gas flow may be treated as the motion of a unique narrow cluster, whose length is negligible as compared to the channel length. Experiments and theoretical estimates show, however, that in many cases the conducting gas fills the entire channel length during the acceleration process, so that the assumption of a narrow cluster is not even approximately fulfilled [4, 5]. 相似文献

The stability of a steady flow of incompressible, conducting liquid down an inclined plane in the presence of longitudinal and transverse magnetic fields is studied. Solutions of the linearized magnetohydrodynamic equations with corresponding boundary conditions are found on the assumption that the Reynolds number Rg and the wave number are small. It is shown that the longitudinal magnetic field plays a stabilizing role. It is known [1] that the flow of a viscous liquid over a vertical wall is always unstable. In this article it is shown that the instability effect at small wave numbers may be eliminated if the longitudinal magnetic field satisfies the conditions found. The case when the Alfvén number and the wave number are small and the Reynolds number is finite is also examined. 相似文献

An asymptotic solution of radiative gas-dynamic equations for stationary interaction of two hypersonic gas flows emanating from two identical spherical sources is obtained. Under the assumption that the gas in the shock layer is in local thermodynamic equilibrium and volume emission (energy loss for radiation) occurs there, analytical expressions for the distributions of gas-dynamic functions and temperature are derived. The region of instability of the Hill-Shafranov viscous MHD vortex with respect to azimuthal axisymmetric perturbations of
the velocity field is determined numerically as a function of the Reynolds number and magnetization in a linear formulation.
An approximate formulation of the linear stability problem for MHD flows with circular streamlines is considered. The further
evolution of the perturbations in the supercritical region is studied using a nonlinear analog model (a simplified initial
system of equations that takes into account some important properties of the basic equations). For this model, the secondary
flows resulting from the instability are determined.

This paper deals with the electromagnetoelastic problem of an elastic, conducting circular cylinder with a penny-shaped crack under a uniform axial current flow and a constant axial magnetic field. The current flow is disturbed by the presence of the crack and the torsional stresses are caused by the interactions between the magnetic field and the disturbed current. Two problems concerning the electric current density field and the electromagnetoelastic field are formulated by means of integral transform techniques and reduced to two Fredholm integral equations of the second kind. Numerical calculations are carried out and stress intensity factors are obtained for several values of the geometric parameters. 相似文献
