It is shown that if E is a separable and uniformly convex Banach space with Opial’s property and C is a nonempty bounded closed convex subset of E, then for some asymptotically regular self-mappings of C the set of fixed points is not only connected but even a retract of C. Our results qualitatively complement, in the case of a uniformly convex Banach space, a corresponding result presented in [T. Domínguez, M.A. Japón, G. López, Metric fixed point results concerning measures of noncompactness mappings, in: W.A. Kirk, B. Sims (Eds.), Handbook of Metric Fixed Point Theory, Kluwer Acad. Publishers, Dordrecht, 2001, pp. 239-268].  相似文献

The goal of this article is to study the relations among monotonicity properties of real Banach lattices and the corresponding convexity properties in the complex Banach lattices. We introduce the moduli of monotonicity of Banach lattices. We show that a Banach lattice E is uniformly monotone if and only if its complexification EC is uniformly complex convex. We also prove that a uniformly monotone Banach lattice has finite cotype. In particular, we show that a Banach lattice is of cotype q for some 2?q<∞ if and only if there is an equivalent lattice norm under which it is uniformly monotone and its complexification is q-uniformly PL-convex. We also show that a real Köthe function space E is strictly (respectively uniformly) monotone and a complex Banach space X is strictly (respectively uniformly) complex convex if and only if Köthe-Bochner function space E(X) is strictly (respectively uniformly) complex convex.  相似文献

We study the strong convergence of two viscosity iteration processes for pseudo-contractive semigroup and for ??-strongly pseudo-contractive mapping in uniformly convex Banach spaces with uniformly Gâteaux differentiable norm. As special cases, we get strong convergence of two viscosity iteration processes for approximating common fixed points of nonexpansive semigroups in certain Banach spaces. The results presented in this paper extend and generalize previous results.  相似文献

Let X be a compact first countable space. In this paper we show that the set of isometries of C(X) that are involutions is algebraically reflexive. As a consequence of a recent work of Botelho and Jamison this leads to the conclusion that the set of generalized bi-circular projections on C(X) is also algebraically reflexive. We also consider these questions for the space C(X,E) where E is a uniformly convex Banach space.  相似文献

Let X be an infinite dimensional real reflexive Banach space with dual space X and GX, open and bounded. Assume that X and X are locally uniformly convex. Let T:XD(T)→2X be maximal monotone and strongly quasibounded, S:XD(S)→X maximal monotone, and C:XD(C)→X strongly quasibounded w.r.t. S and such that it satisfies a generalized (S+)-condition w.r.t. S. Assume that D(S)=LD(T)∩D(C), where L is a dense subspace of X, and 0∈T(0),S(0)=0. A new topological degree theory is introduced for the sum T+S+C, with degree mapping d(T+S+C,G,0). The reason for this development is the creation of a useful tool for the study of a class of time-dependent problems involving three operators. This degree theory is based on a degree theory that was recently developed by Kartsatos and Skrypnik just for the single-valued sum S+C, as above.  相似文献

Let X be a uniformly convex Banach space with the Opial property. Let T:CC be an asymptotic pointwise nonexpansive mapping, where C is bounded, closed and convex subset of X. In this paper, we prove that the generalized Mann and Ishikawa processes converge weakly to a fixed point of T. In addition, we prove that for compact asymptotic pointwise nonexpansive mappings acting in uniformly convex Banach spaces, both processes converge strongly to a fixed point.  相似文献

Let C be a nonempty closed convex subset of a 2-uniformly convex and uniformly smooth Banach space E and {A_n}_(n∈N) be a family of monotone and Lipschitz continuos mappings of C into E~*. In this article, we consider the improved gradient method by the hybrid method in mathematical programming [10] for solving the variational inequality problem for{A_n} and prove strong convergence theorems. And we get several results which improve the well-known results in a real 2-uniformly convex and uniformly smooth Banach space and a real Hilbert space.  相似文献

Let C be a bounded closed convex subset of a uniformly convex multi-Banach space X and let \({\mathfrak {I}}_{j} = \{T_j(t) : t\in G\}\) be a commutative semigroup of asymptotically nonexpansive in the intermediate mapping from C into itself. In this paper, we prove the strong mean ergodic convergence theorem for the almost-orbit of \(\mathfrak {I}\). Our results extend and unify many previously known results especially (Dong et al. On the strong ergodic theorem for commutative semigroup of non-Lipschitzian mappings in Banach space, preprint).  相似文献

We define an alternate convexically nonexpansive map T on a bounded, closed, convex subset C of a Banach space X and prove that if X is a strictly convex Banach space and C is a nonempty weakly compact convex subset of X, then every alternate convexically nonexpansive map T : CC has a fixed point. As its application, we give an existence result for the solution of an integral equation.  相似文献

We study an iterative scheme of Browder’s type for a semigroup of Lipschitzian mappings satisfying some uniform Lipschitzian condition, from a compact convex subset C of a smooth Banach space into C, with respect to a sequence of strongly asymptotic invariant means defined on an appropriate space of bounded real valued functions of the semigroup. The results presented in this paper generalize the corresponding results of Lau, Miyake and Takahashi [Nonlinear Anal. 67 (2007), 1211–1225].   相似文献

Let \(\mathcal{T}\) be a one-parameter semigroup of nonexpansive mappings on a nonempty closed convex subset C of a strictly convex and reflexive Banach space X. Suppose additionally that X has a uniformly Gâteaux differentiable norm, C has normal structure, and \(\mathcal{T}\) has a common fixed point. Then it is proved that, under appropriate conditions on nonexpansive semigroups and iterative parameters, the approximate solutions obtained by the implicit and explicit viscosity iterative processes converge strongly to the same common fixed point of \(\mathcal{T}\), which is a solution of a certain variational inequality.  相似文献

Our purpose in this paper is to introduce an iterative scheme for solving multiple-set split feasiblity problems in p-uniformly convex Banach spaces which are also uniformly smooth using Bregman distance techniques. We further obtain a strong convergence result for approximating solutions of multiple-set split feasiblity problems in the framework of p-uniformly convex Banach spaces which are also uniformly smooth.  相似文献

We investigate some subtle and interesting phenomena in the duality theory of operator spaces and operator algebras, and give several applications of the surprising fact that certain maps are always weak*-continuous on dual spaces. In particular, if X is a subspace of a C*-algebra A, and if aA satisfies aXX, then we show that the function x?ax on X is automatically weak* continuous if either (a) X is a dual operator space, or (b) a*XX and X is a dual Banach space. These results hinge on a generalization to Banach modules of Tomiyama's famous theorem on contractive projections onto a C*-subalgebra. Applications include a new characterization of the σ-weakly closed (possibly nonunital and nonselfadjoint) operator algebras, and a generalization of the theory of W*-modules to the framework of modules over such algebras. We also give a Banach module characterization of σ-weakly closed spaces of operators which are invariant under the action of a von Neumann algebra.  相似文献

Let X be a Banach space whose dual space X is uniformly convex. We demonstrate that, for any demicontinuous, weakly Nagumo, k-pseudo-contractive mapping T:D(T)⊆XX with closed domain, A=TI weakly generates a semigroup on D(T). In this paper, we project the consequences of this result on fixed point theory. In particular, we show that if k<1 (id est, if T is strongly pseudo-contractive), then T has a unique fixed point. This implies that, if T is pseudo-contractive (k=1) and D(T) is closed, bounded, and convex, then T has at least one fixed point. Consequently, any demicontinuous pseudo-contractive mapping T:CC (for an appropriate C) has a fixed point, which has been an important open question in fixed point theory for quite some time. In a subsequent paper, we explore the consequences of the semigroup result on the existence of solutions to certain partial differential equations. The semigroup result directly implies the existence of unique global solutions to time evolution equations of the form u=Au where A is a combination of derivatives. The fixed point results from this paper imply the existence of solutions to partial differential equations of the form Lu=f.  相似文献

In this paper we deal with fixed point computational problems by strongly convergent methods involving strictly pseudocontractive mappings in smooth Banach spaces. First, we prove that the S-iteration process recently introduced by Sahu in [14] converges strongly to a unique fixed point of a mapping T, where T is κ-strongly pseudocontractive mapping from a nonempty, closed and convex subset C of a smooth Banach space into itself. It is also shown that the hybrid steepest descent method converges strongly to a unique solution of a variational inequality problem with respect to a finite family of λi-strictly pseudocontractive mappings from C into itself. Our results extend and improve some very recent theorems in fixed point theory and variational inequality problems. Particularly, the results presented here extend some theorems of Reich (1980) [1] and Yamada (2001) [15] to a general class of λ-strictly pseudocontractive mappings in uniformly smooth Banach spaces.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to study hybrid iterative schemes of Halpern types for a semigroup ={T(s):sS} of relatively nonexpansive mappings on a closed and convex subset C of a Banach space with respect to a sequence {μn} of asymptotically left invariant means defined on an appropriate invariant subspace of l(S). We prove that given a certain sequence {αn} in [0,1], xC, we can generate an iterative sequence {xn} which converges strongly to ΠF()x where ΠF()x is the generalized projection from C onto the fixed point set F(). Our main result is even new for the case of a Hilbert space.  相似文献

We show that a Banach space X is complemented in its ultraproducts if and only if for every amenable semigroup S the space of bounded X-valued functions defined on S admits (a) an invariant average; or (b) what we shall call “an admissible assignment”. Condition (b) still provides an equivalence for quasi-Banach spaces, while condition (a) necessarily implies that the space is locally convex.  相似文献
