For a large class of metric spaces with nice local structure, which includes Banach–Finsler manifolds and geodesic spaces of curvature bounded above, we give sufficient conditions for a local homeomorphism to be a covering projection. We first obtain a general condition in terms of a path continuation property. As a consequence, we deduce several conditions in terms of path- liftings involving a generalized derivative, and in particular we obtain an extension of Hadamard global inversion theorem in this context. Next we prove that, in the case of quasi-isometric mappings, some of these sufficient conditions are also necessary. Finally, we give an application to the existence of global implicit functions. O. In this paper we study the connection between local invertibility and global invertibility of adapted shifts on Wiener space. First we go from the global to the local and we obtain an explicit formula for the inverse of a stopped adapted shift which is invertible. Then we take the opposite direction and we show that under finite energy condition, a shift which is locally invertible is also invertible. We work in a general framework which applies both to the classical Wiener space and to the Brownian sheet.  相似文献

We show the existence of harmonic mappings with values in possibly singular and not necessarily locally compact complete metric length spaces of nonpositive curvature in the sense of Alexandrov. As a technical tool, we show that any bounded sequence in such a space has a subsequence whose mean values converge. We also give a general definition of harmonic maps between metric spaces based on mean value properties and-convergence.  相似文献

A rigorous numerical method for establishing the existence of a transversal connecting orbit from one hyperbolic periodic orbit to another of a differential equation in is presented. As the first component of this method, a general shadowing theorem that guarantees the existence of such a connecting orbit near a suitable pseudo connection orbit given the invertibility of a certain operator is proved. The second component consists of a refinement procedure for numerically computing a pseudo connecting orbit between two pseudo periodic orbits with sufficiently small local errors so as to satisfy the hypothesis of the theorem. The third component consists of a numerical procedure to verify the invertibility of the operator and obtain a rigorous upper bound for the norm of its inverse. Using this method, existence of chaos is demonstrated on examples with transversal homoclinic orbits, and with cycles of transversal heteroclinic orbits.  相似文献

We consider polynomial mappings which have atypical fibres due to the asymptotic behavior at infinity. Fixing some proper extension of the polynomial mapping, we study the localizability at infinity of the variation of topology of fibres and the possibility of interpreting local results at infinity into global results. We prove local and global Bertini–Sard–Lefschetz type statements for noncompact spaces and nonproper mappings and we deduce results on the homotopy type or the connectivity of the fibres of polynomial mappings.  相似文献

An intrinsic definition in terms of conformal capacity is proposed for the conformal type of a Carnot—Carathéodory space (parabolic or hyperbolic). Geometric criteria of conformal type are presented. They are closely related to the asymptotic geometry of the space at infinity and expressed in terms of the isoperimetric function and the growth of the area of geodesic spheres. In particular, it is proved that a sub-Riemannian manifold admits a conformal change of metric that makes it into a complete manifold of finite volume if and only if the manifold is of conformally parabolic type. Further applications are discussed, such as the relation between local and global invertibility properties of quasiconformal immersions (the global homeomorphism theorem). In this paper, the class of nonspreading mappings in Banach spaces is introduced. This class contains the recently introduced class of firmly nonexpansive type mappings in Banach spaces and the class of firmly nonexpansive mappings in Hilbert spaces. Among other things, we obtain a fixed point theorem for a single nonspreading mapping in Banach spaces. Using this result, we also obtain a common fixed point theorem for a commutative family of nonspreading mappings in Banach spaces. Received: 10 August 2007  相似文献

General second order quasilinear elliptic systems with nonlinear boundary conditions on bounded domains are formulated into nonlinear mappings between Sobolev spaces. It is shown that the linearized mapping is a Fredholm operator of index zero. This and the abstract global bifurcation theorem of [Jacobo Pejsachowicz, Patrick J. Rabier, Degree theory for C1 Fredholm mappings of index 0, J. Anal. Math. 76 (1998) 289-319] allow us to carry out bifurcation analysis directly on these elliptic systems. At the abstract level, we establish a unilateral global bifurcation result that is needed when studying positive solutions. Finally, we supply two examples of cross-diffusion population model and chemotaxis model to demonstrate how the theory can be applied.  相似文献

We prove a non-smooth generalization of the global implicit function theorem. More precisely we use the non-smooth local implicit function theorem and the non-smooth critical point theory in order to prove a non-smooth global implicit function theorem for locally Lipschitz functions. Using a family of higher degree polynomials as a bridge, together with complex surgery techniques, we construct a homeomorphism between any two limbs of the Mandelbrot set of equal denominator. Induced by these homeomorphisms and complex conjugation, we obtain an involution between each limb and itself, whose fixed points form a topological arc. All these maps have counterparts at the combinatorial level relating corresponding external arguments. Assuming local connectivity of the Mandelbrot set we may conclude that the constructed homeomorphisms between limbs are compatible with the embeddings of the limbs in the plane. As usual we plough in the dynamical planes and harvest in the parameter space.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain an existence theorem for fixed points of contractive set-valued mappings on a metric space endowed with a graph. This theorem unifies and extends several fixed point theorems for mappings on metric spaces and for mappings on metric spaces endowed with a graph. As an application, we obtain a theorem on the convergence of successive approximations for some linear operators on an arbitrary Banach space. This result yields the well-known Kelisky–Rivlin theorem on iterates of the Bernstein operators on C[0,1].  相似文献

In this paper we underline the importance of the parametric subregularity property of set-valued mappings, defined with respect to fixed sets. We show that this property appears naturally for some very simple mappings which play an important role in the theory of metric regularity. We prove a result concerning the preservation of metric subregularity at generalized compositions. Then we obtain, in purely metric setting, several fixed point assertions for set-valued mappings in local and global frameworks.  相似文献

The paper is concerned with generalized differentiation of set-valued mappings between Banach spaces. Our basic object is the so-called coderivative of multifunctions that was introduced earlier by the first author and has had a number of useful applications to nonlinear analysis, optimization, and control. This coderivative is a nonconvex-valued mapping which is related to sequential limits of Fréchet-like graphical normals but is not dual to any tangentially generated derivative of multifunctions. Using a variational approach, we develop a full calculus for the coderivative in the framework of Asplund spaces. The latter class is sufficiently broad and convenient for many important applications. We give a quantitative proof for a theorem of Martio, Rickman and V?is?l? [MRV] on the rigidity of the local homeomorphism property of spatial quasiregular mappings with distortion close to one. The proof is based on a distortion theory established by using two main tools. First, we use a conformal invariant between sphere families and components of their preimages under quasiregular mappings. In this note, we present a general automatic continuity theory for linear mappings between certain topological vector spaces. In this paper, we first establish an existence result of critical points for a class of functionals defined on Hilbert spaces by using a local linking idea. We study the Besov regularity of conformal mappings for domains with rough boundary based on the well-posedness for the Dirichlet problem with Besov data. We further study averaged and firmly nonexpansive mappings in the setting of geodesic spaces with a main focus on the asymptotic behavior of their Picard iterates. We use methods of proof mining to obtain an explicit quantitative version of a generalization to geodesic spaces of a result on the asymptotic behavior of Picard iterates for firmly nonexpansive mappings proved by Reich and Shafrir. From this result we obtain effective uniform bounds on the asymptotic regularity for firmly nonexpansive mappings. Besides this, we derive effective rates of asymptotic regularity for sequences generated by two algorithms used in the study of the convex feasibility problem in a nonlinear setting.  相似文献

We prove a theorem on the coincidence points of two mappings acting on spaces equipped with a vector metric. By way of application, we obtain sufficient conditions for the existence of a solution of an ordinary differential equation unsolved for the derivative of the unknown function and local solvability conditions for a control system with mixed constraints.  相似文献
