CTAB-stabilized silver nanoparticles were synthesized by NaBH4 reduction. The as-prepared nanoparticles can be self-assembled on 3-mercaptopropionic acid (MPA) modified gold electrode, which was supported strongly by XPS measurements. Exceptional long-term stability of the as-prepared colloidal silver aqueous solution and the desorption of silver nanoparticle ensemble on MPA after alcohol rinsing proved that these CTAB molecules adsorbed on silver core formed interdigitated bilayer structure. DPV and differential capacitance measurements were performed to characterize the as-prepared silver nanoparticle ensemble, and the interesting quantized capacitance charging behaviors were observed.  相似文献

The coproporphyrin-I (CPI) behaves as a reducing agent for silver and gold metal ions and as stabilizing agent for the formed colloidal metallic nanoparticles. The peculiarity of silver and gold nanoparticles obtained in the reactions of monomeric form of CPI with their metal ions has been studied. The optical properties of the colloidal forms of these metals have been investigated by UV–Vis spectrophotometry, and their morphology by TEM and SEM measurements. The structures and the size distributions of Ag and Au particles have been characterized and determined by computerized TEM images.  相似文献

Colloidal Au/Ag multilayer films were prepared by alternate assembly of Au nanoparticles with a size of 5 +/- 1.2 nm and Ag nanoparticles with a size of 10 +/- 2.4 nm by using 1,5-pentanedithiol as cross-linker. Nanoporous gold films with a ligament size of 26.7 +/- 4.6 nm were then prepared by selective dissolution of sacrificial templates of silver particles in colloidal Au/Ag multilayers. The complete dissolution of Ag particles in colloidal Au/Ag multilayers in a mixture solution of 3.0 mM HAuCl(4) and 3 M NaCl took place at room temperature without damage of the colloidal Au film. This method to prepare nanoporous gold films was further extended to the preparation of nanoporous gold nanotubes by depositing colloidal Au/Ag film on the inner wall of anodic aluminum oxides (AAO) followed by dissolution of colloidal Ag and removal of AAO templates.  相似文献

Hybridization of DNA tethered on colloidal nanoparticles with fully matched complementary one induces the aggregation of the particles in a non-cross-linking configuration. Here, we performed a structural study on DNA-functionalized gold nanoparticle and its non-cross-linking aggregation mainly using synchrotron radiation small-angle X-ray scattering. To understand the non-cross-linking aggregation, the nanoparticles with various DNA lengths and core sizes were used. In the aggregation, the surface distance between the gold nanoparticles increased with the length of DNA duplex, although the increment of the distance per base pair was not constant and showed the tendency to become small with increasing DNA length, meaning the interdigitation of DNA layers. The aggregation was also found to occur between the identical cores, without being affected by tethered DNA. Furthermore, it was proved that the relative increase in DNA length to core size leads to the increase in colloidal stability. Even the nanoparticles with full-matched DNA duplex were dispersed stably. These facts suggested that van der Waals interaction between core particles rather than end-to-end stacking between DNA duplexes is a dominant attractive interaction. The steric repulsion force arising from entropic loss of thermal fluctuation of DNA molecules might be a key factor to characterize the non-cross-linking aggregation.  相似文献

The interaction of colloidal gold with Taq DNA polymerase (Taq) was investigated in this study. Taq-gold conjugate was formed by adding the enzyme to the colloidal gold solution, as evidenced by UV-Vis spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and photon cross correlation spectroscopy measurements. The conjugate was further characterized by transmission electron microscopy. It was found that the Taq-gold conjugate particles were still spherical and well-dispersed. The influence of gold nanoparticles on the bioactivity of Taq was studied by analyzing the yield of the polymerase chain reaction amplification. Results indicated that the enzymatic activity of Taq decreased after interaction with the colloidal gold.  相似文献

Electrical properties of contacts formed between conducting polymers and noble metal nanoparticles have been examined using current-sensing atomic force microscopy (CS-AFM). Contacts formed between electrochemically prepared pi-conjugated polymer films such as polypyrrole (PPy), poly(3-methylthiophene) (P3MeT), as well as poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) and noble metal nanoparticles including platinum (Pt), gold (Au), and silver (Ag) have been examined. The Pt nanoparticles were electrochemically deposited on a pre-coated PPy film surface by reducing a platinum precursor (PtCl62-) at a constant potential. Both current and scanning electron microscopic images of the film showed the presence of Pt islands. The Au and Ag nanoparticles were dispersed on the P3MeT and PEDOT film surfaces simply by dipping the polymer films into colloid solutions containing Au or Ag particles for specified periods (5 to approximately 10 min). The deposition of Au or Ag particles resulted from either their physical adsorption or chemical bonding between particles and the polymer surface depending on the polymer. When compared with PPy, P3MeT and PEDOT showed a stronger binding to Au or Ag nanoparticles when dipped in their colloidal solutions for the same period. This indicates that Au and Ag particles are predominantly linked with the sulfur atoms via chemical bonding. Of the two, PEDOT was more conductive at the sites where the particles are connected to the polymer. It appears that PEDOT has better aligned sulfur atoms on the surface and is strongly bonded to Au and Ag nanoparticles due to their strong affinity to gold and silver. The current-voltage curves obtained at the metal islands demonstrate that the contacts between these metal islands and polymers are ohmic.  相似文献

A large-scale lambda-DNA network on a mica surface was successfully fabricated with a simple method. Silver nanoparticles capped with the cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) were self-assembled onto a two-dimensional DNA network template by electrostatic interaction and formed nanoporous silver films, which can be used as active surface-enhanced raman scattering (SERS) substrates. Two probe molecules, Rhodamine 6G (R6G) and 4-aminothiophenol (4-ATP), were studied on these substrates with very low concentrations, and great enhancement factors for R6G (0.21 x 10(10)-4.09 x 10(11)) and 4-ATP (approximately 1.70 x 10(5)) were observed. It was found that the enhancement ability was affected by the DNA concentration and the electrostatic absorption time of the CTAB-stabilized silver nanoparticles on the DNA strands. These SERS substrates formed by the self-assembly of silver nanoparticles on DNA network also show good stability and reproducibility in our experiments.  相似文献

Stable aqueous dispersive colloidal Ag nanoparticles were prepared by reducing silver nitrate with sodium borohydride in the presence of 3-mercaptopropionic acid. The formation process of the Ag nanoparticles was investigated by UV-Visible spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The results show that the spherical and rodlike particles and aggregates are formed in the initial stage of the reaction, then the rodlike particles and aggregates are gradually decomposed into small spherical particles, and the final obtained Ag nanoparticles with an average size of 8 nm are in uniform shapes and narrow size distribution, and the colloid remains stable for more than one month, which makes it convenient for use in practice. The presence of capping agent plays an extra role over nanoparticles stabilization and morphology. The presence of capping agent on the surface of Ag nanoparticle is confirmed by the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. It is found that Ag nanoparticles are negatively charged in alkaline condition, whereas they are positively charged in acid condition. Electrosteric effect is responsible for their long-term stability.  相似文献

An antibody-free diagnostic reagent has been developed based on the aggregation-induced colorimetric change of Ni(II)NTA-functionalized colloidal gold and silver nanoparticles. This diagnostic strategy utilizes the high binding affinity of histidine-rich proteins with Ni(II)NTA to capture and cross-link the histidine-rich protein mimics with the silver and gold nanoparticles. In model studies, the aggregation behavior of the Ni(II)NTA nanoparticles was tested against synthetic targets including charged poly(amino acid)s (histidine, lysine, arginine, and aspartic acid) and mimics of Plasmodium falciparum histidine-rich protein 2 (pfHRP-II). Aggregation of the nanoparticle sensor was induced by all of the basic poly(amino acid)s including poly(l-histidine) within the pH range (5.5-9.0) tested, which is likely caused by the coordination between the multivalent polymer target and Ni(II)NTA groups on multiple particles. The peptide mimics induced aggregation of the nanoparticles only near their pK(a)'s with higher limits of detection. In addition, monomeric amino acids do not show any aggregation behavior, suggesting that multiple target binding sites are necessary for aggregation. Long-term stability studies showed that gold but not silver nanoparticles remained stable and exhibited similar aggregation behavior after 1 month of storage at room temperature and 37 °C. These results suggest that Ni(II)NTA gold nanoparticles could be further investigated for use as a sensor to detect histidine-rich proteins in biological samples.  相似文献

Gold nanowires with a two-dimensional (2-D) network structure were formed by citrate reduction of AuCl4- with a low concentration of citrate. The structure change during the growth processes was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and the variation in concentrations of gold species in the aqueous solution was monitored by UV-vis spectra and Inductively Coupled Argon Plasma Emission Spectrophotometer (ICAP). The formation of 2-D gold nanowires was induced by the small amount of reducing agent because the preliminary gold nanoparticles formed by reduction of AuCl4- were thermodynamically unstable in the aqueous solution due to the insufficient capping of citrate. One of the key points of nanowire formation is the preferential adsorption of AuCl4- instead of citrate ions on the surface of the preliminary gold particles, which results in an attracting force between gold nanoparticles. We propose a hit-to-stick-to-fusion model, in which gold nanoparticles adhere by the attraction force and stick together, causing selective deposition of reduced gold metallic species on the concave surface of the two sticking particles, followed by fusion into nanowires. Nanowires then connect with each other, forming a network structure. The evidence obtained from TEM observation of transformation from gold nanowires on a TEM grid to large nanoparticles by hydrogen gas reduction and time-resolved measurements of gold ions suggest that gold ions not only are crucial for the growth of gold nanowires but also play an important role in stabilizing the shape of gold nanowires during the formation process. This method for synthesizing 2-D gold nanowires is simple and relatively easy application to the synthesis of other metallic nanowires such as silver or platinum is expected.  相似文献

The colloid stability of thymine-coated gold nanoparticles under light irradiation as a function of particle size, surface charge, and exposure time was investigated in alkaline, aqueous solutions as well as in a 0.5 vol % of DMF in H(2)O mixture. With increasing exposure to light irradiation at 280 nm, more and more particles coagulated. Light-induced aggregation of colloidal gold nanoparticles was attributed to reorientation of thymine terminal groups tethered on gold particle surfaces. A smaller particle size and negatively charged surface reduced the rate of photodimerization or even inhibited the photoreaction. UV-vis and FTIR spectroscopy confirmed the photodimerization of terminal thymine molecules under 280 nm light irradiation. The reaction kinetics of thymine photodimerization appears to be a combination of first-order reactions, each having different rates, reflecting the inhomogeneity and high curvature of the gold nanoparticle surfaces.  相似文献

Patterned deposition of nanoparticles is a prerequisite for the application of unique properties of nanoparticles in future nanodevices. Recent development of nanoxerography requires highly charged aerosol nanoparticles to avoid noise deposition due to random Brownian motion. However, it has been known that it is difficult to charge aerosol nanoparticles with more than two elementary charges. The goal of this work is to develop a simple technique for obtaining highly charged monodisperse aerosol nanoparticles by means of electrospray of colloidal suspension. Highly charged aerosol nanoparticles were produced by electrospraying (ES) and drying colloidal suspensions of monodisperse gold nanoparticles. Size and charge distributions of the resultant particles were measured. We demonstrate that this method successfully charges monodisperse nanoparticles very highly, e.g., 122 elementary charges for 25.0 nm, 23.5 for 10.5 nm, and 4.6 for 4.2 nm. The method described here constitutes a convenient, reliable, and continuous tool for preparing highly charged aerosol nanoparticles from suspensions of nanoparticles produced by either wet chemistry or gas-phase methods.  相似文献

In this study, we describe a new strategy for producing narrowly dispersed functional colloidal particles stabilized by a nanocomposite with hydrophilic clay faces and hydrophobic polystyrene (PS) brushes on the edges. This method involves preparation of polymer brushes on the edges of clay layers and Pickering suspension polymerization of styrene in the presence of the nanocomposites. PS brushes on the edges of clay layers were prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization. X‐ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis results indicated that PS chains were grafted to the edges of clay platelets. Transmission electron microscope results showed that different morphologies of clay‐PS particles could be obtained in different solvents. In water, clay‐PS particles aggregated together, in which PS chains collapsed forming nanosized hydrophobic domains and hydrophilic clay faces stayed in aqueous phase. In toluene, clay‐PS particles formed face‐to‐face structure. Narrowly dispersed PS colloidal particles stabilized by clay‐PS were prepared by suspension polymerization. Because of the negatively charged clay particles on the surface, the zeta potential of the PS colloidal particles was negative. Positively charged poly(2‐vinyl pyridine) (P2VP) chains were adsorbed to the surface of PS colloidal particles in aqueous solution at a low pH value, and gold nanoparticles were prepared in P2VP brushes. Such colloidal particles may find important applications in a variety of fields including waterborne adhesives, paints, catalysis of chemical reactions, and protein separation. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Simple methods of preparing silver and gold nanoshells on the surfaces of monodispersed polystyrene microspheres of different sizes as well as of silver nanoshells on free-standing gold nanoparticles are presented. The plasmon resonance absorption spectra of these materials are presented and compared to predictions of extended Mie scattering theory. Both silver and gold nanoshells were grown on polystyrene microspheres with diameters ranging from 188 to 543 nm. The commercially available, initially carboxylate-terminated polystyrene spheres were reacted with 2-aminoethanethiol hydrochloride (AET) to yield thiol-terminated microspheres to which gold nanoparticles were then attached. Reduction of silver nitrate or gold hydroxide onto these gold-decorated microspheres resulted in increasing coverage of silver or gold on the polystyrene core. The nanoshells were characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV–vis spectroscopy. By varying the core size of the polystyrene particles and the amount of metal (silver or gold) reduced onto them, the surface plasmon resonance of the nanoshell could be tuned across the visible and the near-infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. Necklace-like chain aggregate structures of gold core–silver shell nanoparticles were formed by reducing silver nitrate onto free citrate-gold nanoparticles. The plasmon resonance absorption of these nanoparticles could also be systematically tuned across the visible spectrum.  相似文献

We have measured the force between a weakly charged micron-sized colloidal particle and flat substrate in the presence of highly charged nanoparticles of the same sign under solution conditions such that the nanoparticles physically adsorb to the colloidal particle and substrate. The objective was to investigate the net effect on the force profile between the microparticle and flat substrate arising from both nanoparticle adsorption and nanoparticles in solution. The experiments used colloidal probe atomic force microscopy (CP-AFM) to measure the force profile between a relatively large (5 μm) colloidal probe glass particle and a planar glass substrate in aqueous solutions at varying concentrations of spherical nanoparticles. At very low nanoparticle concentrations, the primary effect was an increase in the electrostatic repulsion between the surfaces due to adsorption of the more highly charged nanoparticles. As the nanoparticle concentration is increased, a depletion attraction formed, followed by longer-range structural forces at the highest nanoparticle concentrations studied. These results suggest that, depending on their concentration, such nanoparticles can either stabilize a dispersion of weakly-charged colloidal particles or induce flocculation. This behavior is qualitatively different from that in nonadsorbing systems, where the initial effect is the development of an attractive depletion force.  相似文献

The formation of gold nanoparticles and the crystal growth at the surface of mixed phosphatidylcholine (PC)-ionic surfactant vesicles was investigated. The PC-bilayer surface was negatively charged by incorporating sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and positively charged by adding hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAB). The mass ratio phosphatidylcholine:surfactant was fixed in both cases at 1:1. The gold nanoparticle formation was studied by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) combined with dynamic light scattering (DLS) and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. TEM micrographs confirm that the particle formation occurs on the vesicle surface. However, the reduction process depends on the ionic surfactant incorporated into the vesicles, the vesicle size distribution, as well as the temperature used for the reduction process. Thereby, it becomes possible to control the crystal growth of the individual spherical gold nanoparticles in a characteristic way. Red colored colloidal dispersions consisting of monodisperse spherical nanoparticles with an average particle size between 2 and 8 nm (determined by dynamic light scattering) can be obtained by using a monodisperse SDS-modified vesicle phase. When the temperature is increased to 45 degrees C, a crystallization in rod-like or triangular structures is observed. In the CTAB-based template phase in general larger gold particles of about 35 nm are formed. In similarity to the anionic vesicles a temperature increase leads to the crystallization in triangular structures.  相似文献

The FT-Raman and resonance Raman scatterings of colloidal silver or gold formed in the presence of a nonionic surfactant, Surfynol 465, were studied. The intensity of Raman scattering of colloidal solution was strongly affected by the power of laser for excitation. At the low power, the intensity of scattering and the spectrum of colloidal solution were normal. However, at the high power, the intensity of Raman scattering anomalously increased over the whole frequency region, suggesting the surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) on colloidal silver or gold. And in the Raman spectra new bands were found in addition to bands of starting materials. Through the assignment of new bands, the working mechanism of Surfynol 465 for the formation of colloidal silver or gold was discussed.  相似文献

We describe a new type of colloidal 2D gels formed in mixed Langmuir monolayers of stearic acid and octadecylamine on a surface of gold hydrosol. The adsorption of gold nanoparticles on the mixed monolayer led to an increase of interactions between oppositely charged surfactants giving a "soap" of mixed fatty salt. The observed effect is equivalent to a virtual "cooling" of floating monolayer, which undergoes rapid condensation on a surface of aqueous colloid. The consequent shrinking and rearrangement of the monolayer resulted in aggregation of nanoparticles into colloidal 2D "soap"-gels, which represented arrested colloidal phases within nonadsorbing organic medium. When sequentially deposited onto solids by Langmuir-Blodgett technique, the 2D "soap"-gels separated into organic and colloidal phases and gave dendrite-like bilateral organic crystallites coated with gold nanoparticles. The reported colloidal "soap"-assembly can offer a new opportunity to design 2D colloidal systems of widely variable chemistry and structures.  相似文献

In this paper we show that the use of colloidal assemblies as templates favors the control of the size and shape of nanoparticles. As expected theoretically, the change in size and shape of copper metal nanosized particles induces changes in their optical properties. Cylindrical copper metal particles having the same size and shape can be obtained in various regions of the phase diagram when the template is made of interconnected cylinders. Self-assembly of silver metal nanoparticles is reported. Monolayers of particles organized in a hexagonal network are formed over very large domains. Small or large aggregates can also be produced, and, in these aggregates, the particles are highly organized and form pseudo-crystals with a face-centered cubic structure for various particles sizes. The optical properties of the silver nanoparticles isolated in micellar solution or self-assembled in 2D or 3D supperlattices are reported. Syntheses of magnetic fluids differing in their particle size are presented. The magnetic properties differ with the particle size.  相似文献
