This paper aims to simulate the application of more advanced computer vision techniques to tracking in biological molecular imaging by surveying the literature and sketching the current state of affairs in the field for a signal and image processing audience. After describing the basic principles of visualizing molecular dynamics in living cells and giving some examples of biological molecular dynamics studies, the paper summarizes the problems and limitations intrinsic to imaging at this scale. The paper then discusses the main ingredients of the commonly used tracking paradigm and subsequently reconsider its competence by comparing it to certain aspects of visual motion perception in human beings, keeping in mind the complexity and variability of biological image data. Finally, it summarizes the main points of attention for future research and the challenges that lie ahead.  相似文献

It?s October at Duke University, in Durham, N.C., and Jonathan Kuniholm is playing ?air guitar hero,? a variation on Guitar Hero, the Nintendo Wii game that lets you try to keep up with real musicians using a vaguely guitarlike controller. But the engineer is playing without a guitar. More to the point, he?s playing without his right hand, having lost it in Iraq in 2005. Instead he works the controller by contracting the muscles in his forearm, creating electrical impulses that electrodes then feed into the game. 为了优化Au纳米团簇(nanoclusters,NCs)的光 学性能,拓宽它的应用领域,利用原子掺杂法合成 了超稳定的发光双金属ZnAu NCs。通过对紫外-可见吸收光谱、发射光谱、红外光谱、荧光 寿命等的测试 和分析,研究了合成的ZnAu NCs的光学特性,讨论了Zn原子掺杂对Au NCs发光性能的影响, 并且借 助透射电子显微镜和质谱等表征手段,分析了这种光学材料的结构性质。最后,通过细胞毒 性评估以及细 胞成像实验探究了其在生物医学上的应用。研究结果表明,与未掺杂原子的Au NCs相比,掺 杂Zn原子的 ZnAu NCs的荧光强度增强了3倍左右,荧光寿命也从6.73 μs延长到 7.26 μs。此外,结合 质谱确定了超小 的ZnAu NCs是分子量位于5.0 kDa-5.8 kDa之 间的复合物团簇。这种发光纳米材料所表现出的良好的光稳 定性和低细胞毒性,使其在生物成像领域具有潜在的应用价值。同时,Zn原子的掺杂提升了 Au NCs的光学性能,为其在其它领域的广泛应用提供了更大的可能性。  相似文献

The ITU recognizes a twofold mission: to monitor regulatory policy changes and technological developments to be in a position to advise members; and to link restructuring changes to overall basic telecommunication development needs. The fundamental goal of the international community in this sector is to achieve universal access to basic telecommunications services. In this context, restructuring is but one component, although the global challenge is to work together to ensure that the restructuring revolution paves the way to filling the development gap. It is readily admitted that new technologies such as mobile satellite systems enable developing countries to leapfrog their infrastructure problems, and that governments recognize the potential benefits of these new technologies and the need to reform regulations in order to facilitate the introduction of these services  相似文献

All over the world, interdisciplinary teams are uncovering new engineering truths to support the statement made in 1959 by US physicist Richard Feynman that "the principles of physics do not speak against the possibility of manoeuvring things atom by atom". Nanotechnology is based on the ability to create and manipulate materials, devices and systems at the nanometre scale; that is, one billionth of a metre (10/sup -9/). Another definition comes from considering nature's art of 'building up', by self-assembling atoms and molecules into useful structures. This proves particularly useful in the field of semiconductors, where designers are running out of things they can do with traditional lithographic techniques. Typically, semiconductor devices are grown from silicon on top of which various materials are deposited and then etched away until the needed circuit remains. But photolithography is reaching its physical limits, since etching features smaller than the wavelength of light becomes increasingly challenging. Hence the interest in building up, instead of etching down.  相似文献

The power density spectrum (PDS) of analog-to-digital (A/D) quantization noise is obtained for an input signal consisting of sinusoid and colored noise. While this type of quantization noise is often assumed to be uncorrelated or white, it may not be when the input signal occupies a relatively small number of quantization levels. A new technique is presented for efficiently generating colored noise. Instead of discarding initial samples to account for the transient, the approach proposed here is to set the initial conditions of the filter so that the output process will be stationary. It is shown that the Levinson-Durbin algorithm provides an efficient means for determining these initial conditions.  相似文献

Few subjects in engineering are as important and as neglected as design. The author appeals for a revolution in managing product design. Although the supporting evidence is not as well researched as one would like, there seems little doubt that product design and its management are often grey areas in industry where good management practice is under-used. Conversely, the benefits on offer from adopting such practices are worthwhile and provide an excellent opportunity to gain an edge on global competition. But, if we do too little too late, we face the threat that others will gain an equivalent edge over us. 提出一种基于最小割的彩色点云分割算法,首先找到彩色点云中每个点的临近点,然后与父点连接,再找到距离最近的2个块并连接,重复连接距离最小的2个块,直到只剩1个块,从而生成1张点云图.根据2点之间的欧氏距离和颜色空间距离设置2点连线的权值,当选择待分割点后根据设定的阈值大小和分割范围,查找被选点分割范围内的所有符合条件的点,然后通过区域生长算法对符合条件的点进行生长,进而得到颜色相近的三维连通区域.实验证明所提方法可行,可有效解决三维分割中连通性的问题.  相似文献
