Let G be a finite group. The objective of this paper is twofold. First we prove that the cellular Bredon homology groups with coefficients in an arbitrary coefficient system M are isomorphic to the homotopy groups of certain topological abelian group. And second, we study ramified covering G-maps of simplicial sets and of simplicial complexes. As an application, we construct a transfer for them in Bredon homology, when M is a Mackey functor. We also show that the Bredon-Illman homology with coefficients in M satisfies the equivariant weak homotopy equivalence axiom in the category of G-spaces.  相似文献

For fields of characteristic zero, we show that the homotopy category of modules over the motivic ring spectrum representing motivic cohomology is equivalent to Voevodsky's big category of motives. The proof makes use of some highly structured models for motivic stable homotopy theory, motivic Spanier-Whitehead duality, the homotopy theories of motivic functors and of motivic spaces with transfers as introduced from ground up in this paper. Working with rational coefficients, we extend the equivalence for fields of characteristic zero to all perfect fields by employing the techniques of alterations and homotopy purity in motivic homotopy theory.  相似文献

Generally, in homotopy theory a cylinder object (or, its dual, a path object) is used to define homotopy between morphisms, and a cone object is used to build exact sequences of homotopy groups. Here, an axiomatic theory based on a cone functor is given. Suspension objects are associated to based objects and cofibrations, obtaining homotopy groups referred to an object and relative to a cofibration, respectively. Exact sequences of these groups are built. Algebraic and particular examples are given. We point out that the main results of this paper were already stated in [3], and the purpose of this article is to give full details of the foregoing.  相似文献

The results of a previous paper on the equivariant homotopy theory of crossed complexes are generalised from the case of a discrete group to general topological groups. The principal new ingredient necessary for this is an analysis of homotopy coherence theory for crossed complexes, using detailed results on the appropriate Eilenberg–Zilber theory, and of its relation to simplicial homotopy coherence. Again, our results give information not just on the homotopy classification of certain equivariant maps, but also on the weak equivariant homotopy type of the corresponding equivariant function spaces.  相似文献

In this paper we prove a tertiary index theorem which relates a spectral geometric and a homotopy theoretic invariant of an almost complex manifold with framed boundary. It is derived from the index theoretic and homotopy theoretic versions of a complex elliptic genus and interestingly related with the structure of the stable homotopy groups of spheres.  相似文献

We have developed Postnikov sections for Brown–Grossman homotopy groups and for Steenrod homotopy groups in the category of exterior spaces, which is an extension of the proper category. The homotopy fibre of a fibration in the factorization associated with Brown–Grossman groups is an Eilenberg–Mac Lane exterior space for this type of groups and it has two non-trivial consecutive Steenrod homotopy groups. For a space which is first countable at infinity, one of these groups is given by the inverse limit of the homotopy groups of the neighbourhoods at infinity, the other group is isomorphic to the first derived of the inverse limit of this system of groups. In the factorization associated with Steenrod groups the homotopy fibre is an Eilenberg–Mac Lane exterior space for this type of groups and it has two non-trivial consecutive Brown–Grossman homotopy groups. We also obtain a mix factorization containing both kinds of previous factorizations and having homotopy fibres which are Eilenberg–Mac Lane exterior spaces for both kinds of groups.Given a compact metric space embedded in the Hilbert cube, its open neighbourhoods provide the Hilbert cube the structure of an exterior space and the homotopy fibres of the factorizations above are Eilenberg–Mac Lane exterior spaces with respect to inward (or approaching) Quigley groups.  相似文献

The homotopy Π-algebra of a pointed topological space, X, consists of the homotopy groups of X together with the additional structure of the primary homotopy operations. We extend two well-known results for homotopy groups to homotopy Π-algebras and look at some examples illustrating the depth of structure on homotopy groups; from graded group to graded Lie ring, to Π-algebra and beyond. We also describe an abstract Π-algebra and give three abstract Π-algebra structures on the homotopy groups of the loop space of X which can be realized as the homotopy Π-algebras of three different spaces.  相似文献

This paper expands the ideas of the spectral homotopy analysis method to apply them, for the first time, on non-linear partial differential equations. The spectral homotopy analysis method (SHAM) is a numerical version of the homotopy analysis method (HAM) which has only been previously used to solve non-linear ordinary differential equations. In this work, the modified version of the SHAM is used to solve a partial differential equation (PDE) that models the problem of unsteady boundary layer flow caused by an impulsively stretching plate. The robustness of the SHAM approach is demonstrated by its flexibility to allow linear operators that are partial derivatives with variable coefficients. This is seen to significantly improve the convergence and accuracy of the method. To validate accuracy of the the present SHAM results, the governing PDEs are also solved using a novel local linearisation technique coupled with an implicit finite difference approach. The two approaches are compared in terms of accuracy, speed of convergence and computational efficiency.  相似文献

In this note on coarse geometry we revisit coarse homotopy. We prove that coarse homotopy indeed is an equivalence relation, and this in the most general context of abstract coarse structures. We introduce (in a geometric way) coarse homotopy groups. The main result is that the coarse homotopy groups of a cone over a compact simplicial complex coincide with the usual homotopy groups of the underlying compact simplicial complex. To prove this we develop geometric triangulation techniques for cones which we expect to be of relevance also in different contexts.  相似文献

Both the gauge groups and 5-manifolds are important in physics and mathematics. In this paper,we combine them to study the homotopy aspects of gauge groups over 5-manifolds. For principal bundles over non-simply connected oriented closed 5-manifolds of a certain type, we prove various homotopy decompositions of their gauge groups according to different geometric structures on the manifolds, and give the partial solution to the classification of the gauge groups. As applications, we estimate the homotopy exponents of their gauge groups, and show periodicity results of the homotopy groups of gauge groups analogous to the Bott periodicity.Our treatments here are also very effective for rational gauge groups in the general context, and applicable for higher dimensional manifolds.  相似文献

In this paper, a geometric approach to stable homotopy groups of spheres based on the Pontryagin–Thom construction is proposed. From this approach, a new proof of the Hopf-invariant-one theorem of J. F. Adams for all dimensions except 15, 31, 63, and 127 is obtained. It is proved that for n > 127, in the stable homotopy group of spheres Π n , there is no element with Hopf invariant one. The new proof is based on geometric topology methods. The Pontryagin–Thom theorem (in the form proposed by R. Wells) about the representation of stable homotopy groups of the real, projective, infinite-dimensional space (these groups are mapped onto 2-components of stable homotopy groups of spheres by the Kahn–Priddy theorem) by cobordism classes of immersions of codimension 1 of closed manifolds (generally speaking, nonoriented) is considered. The Hopf invariant is expressed as a characteristic class of the dihedral group for the self-intersection manifold of an immersed codimension-1 manifold that represents the given element in the stable homotopy group. In the new proof, the geometric control principle (by M. Gromov) for immersions in the given regular homotopy classes based on the Smale–Hirsch immersion theorem is required. In this paper, a new modification of the homotopy analysis method (HAM) is presented and applied to homogeneous or non-homogeneous differential equations with constant or variable coefficients. A comparative study between the new modified homotopy analysis method (MHAM) and the classical HAM is conducted. The main advantage of MHAM is that one can avoid the uncontrollability problems of the non-zero endpoint conditions encountered in the traditional HAM. Several illustrative examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness and reliability of MHAM.  相似文献

We propose a generalization of Sullivan’s de Rham homotopy theory to non-simply connected spaces. The formulation is such that the real homotopy type of a manifold should be the closed tensor dg-category of flat bundles on it much the same as the real homotopy type of a simply connected manifold is the de Rham algebra in original Sullivan’s theory. We prove the existence of a model category structure on the category of small closed tensor dg-categories and as a most simple case, confirm an equivalence between the homotopy category of spaces whose fundamental groups are finite and whose higher homotopy groups are finite dimensional rational vector spaces and the homotopy category of small closed tensor dg-categories satisfying certain conditions.  相似文献

For a profinite group, we construct a model structure on profinite spaces and profinite spectra with a continuous action. This yields descent spectral sequences for the homotopy groups of homotopy fixed point spaces and for stable homotopy groups of homotopy orbit spaces. Our main example is the Galois action on profinite étale topological types of varieties over a field. One motivation is to understand Grothendieck’s section conjecture in terms of homotopy fixed points.  相似文献
