We suggest a method for determining the number of an eigenvalue of a self-adjoint spectral problem nonlinear with respect to the spectral parameter, for some class of Hamiltonian systems of ordinary differential equations on the half-line. The standard boundary conditions are posed at zero, and the solution boundedness condition is posed at infinity. We assume that the matrix of the system is monotone with respect to the spectral parameter. The number of an eigenvalue is determined by the properties of the corresponding nontrivially solvable homogeneous boundary value problem. For the considered class of systems, it becomes possible to compute the numbers of eigenvalues lying in a given range of the spectral parameter without finding the eigenvalues themselves.  相似文献

In the case of a general nonlinear self-adjoint spectral problem for systems of ordinary differential equations with boundary conditions independent of the spectral parameter, we introduce the notion of the number of an eigenvalue. Methods for the computation of the numbers of eigenvalues lying in a given range of the spectral parameter and for finding the eigenvalue with a given number, which were earlier suggested by the author for Hamiltonian systems, are generalized to the considered problem. We introduce the notion of an index of a problem for a general nontrivially solvable linear homogeneous self-adjoint boundary value problem.  相似文献

The general nonlinear self-adjoint eigenvalue problem for a differential algebraic system of equations on a half-line is examined. The boundary conditions are chosen so that the solution to this system is bounded at infinity. Under certain assumptions, the original problem can be reduced to a self-adjoint system of differential equations. After certain transformations, this system, combined with the boundary conditions, forms a nonlinear self-adjoint eigenvalue problem. Requirements for the appropriate boundary conditions are clarified. Under the additional assumption that the initial data are monotone functions of the spectral parameter, a method is proposed for calculating the number of eigenvalues of the original problem that lie on a prescribed interval of this parameter.  相似文献

We consider a general self-adjoint spectral problem, nonlinear with respect to the spectral parameter, for linear differential-algebraic systems of equations. Under some assumptions, we present a method for reducing such a problem to a general self-adjoint nonlinear spectral problem for a system of differential equations. In turn, this permits one to pass to a problem for a Hamiltonian system of ordinary differential equations. In particular, in this way, one can obtain a method for computing the number of eigenvalues of the original problem lying in a given range of the spectral parameter.  相似文献

A nonlinear self-adjoint eigenvalue problem for the general linear system of ordinary differential equations is examined on an unbounded interval. A method is proposed for the approximate reduction of this problem to the corresponding problem on a finite interval. Under the assumption that the initial data are monotone functions of the spectral parameter, a method is given for determining the number of eigenvalues lying on a prescribed interval of this parameter. No direct calculation of eigenvalues is required in this method.  相似文献

Certain properties of the nonlinear self-adjoint eigenvalue problem for Hamiltonian systems of ordinary differential equations with singularities are examined. Under certain assumptions on the way in which the matrix of the system and the matrix specifying the boundary condition at a regular point depend on the spectral parameter, a numerical method is proposed for determining the number of eigenvalues lying on a prescribed interval of the spectral parameter.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a discrete symplectic eigenvalue problem with separated boundary conditions and obtain formulas for the number of eigenvalues on a given interval of the variation of the spectral parameter. In addition, we compare the spectra of two symplectic eigenvalue problems with different separated boundary conditions.  相似文献

In this study, we consider a boundary value problem generated by a second-order dynamic equation on a time scale and boundary conditions depending on the spectral parameter. We give some properties of the solutions and obtain a formulation of the number of eigenvalues of the problem.  相似文献

The asymptotic behavior of eigenvalues of a boundary value problem for a secondorder differential-operator equation in a separable Hilbert space on a finite interval is studied for the case in which the same spectral parameter occurs linearly in the equation and quadratically in one of the boundary conditions. We prove that the problem has a sequence of eigenvalues converging to zero.  相似文献

This paper deals with discrete second order Sturm-Liouville problems in which the parameter that is part of the Sturm-Liouville difference equation also appears linearly in the boundary conditions. An appropriate Green's formula is developed for this problem, which leads to the fact that the eigenvalues are simple, and that they are real under appropriate restrictions. A boundary value problem can be expressed by a system of equations, and finding solutions to a boundary value problem is equivalent to finding the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the coefficient matrix of a related linear system. Thus, the behavior of eigenvalues and eigenvectors is investigated using techniques in linear algebra, and a linear-algebraic proof is given that the eigenvalues are distinct under appropriate restrictions. The operator is extended to a self-adjoint operator and an expansion theorem is proved.  相似文献

We develop an analog of classical oscillation theory for discrete symplectic eigenvalue problems with general self-adjoint boundary conditions which, rather than measuring of the spectrum of one single problem, measures the difference between the spectra of two different problems. We prove formulas connecting the numbers of eigenvalues in a given interval for two symplectic eigenvalue problems with different self-adjoint boundary conditions. We derive as corollaries generalized interlacing properties of eigenvalues.  相似文献

We consider a nonlinear spectral problem for a self-adjoint Hamiltonian system of differential equations. The boundary conditions correspond to a self-adjoint problem. It is assumed that the input data (the matrix of the system and the matrices of the boundary conditions) satisfy certain conditions of monotonicity with respect to the spectral parameter. In addition to the main boundary conditions, a redundant nonlocal condition given by a Stieltjes integral is imposed on the solution. For the nontrivial solvability of the over-determined problem thus obtained, the original problem is replaced by an auxiliary problem that is consistent with the entire set of conditions. This auxiliary problem is obtained from the original one by allowing a discrepancy of a specific form. We study the resulting problem and give a numerical method for its solution.  相似文献

We consider a nonlinear spectral problem for a system of ordinary differential equations defined on an unbounded half-line and supplemented with a nonlocal condition specified by a Stieltjes integral. We suggest a numerically stable method for finding the number of eigenvalues lying in a given bounded domain of the complex plane and for the computation of these eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenfunctions. Our approach uses a simpler (with uncoupled boundary conditions) auxiliary boundary value problem for the same equation.  相似文献

We consider a problem on the interaction of surface waves with a freely floating submerged body, which combines a spectral Steklov problem with a system of algebraic equations. We reduce this spectral problem to a quadratic pencil and then to the standard spectral equation for a self-adjoint operator in a certain Hilbert space. In addition to general properties of the spectrum, we investigate the asymptotics of eigenvalues and eigenvectors with respect to an intrinsic small parameter.  相似文献

The problem on determining conditions for the asymptotic stability of linear periodic delay systems is considered. Solving this problem, we use the function space of states. Conditions for the asymptotic stability are determined in terms of the spectrum of the monodromy operator. To find the spectrum, we construct a special boundary value problem for ordinary differential equations. The motion of eigenvalues of this problem is studied as the parameter changes. Conditions of the stability of the linear periodic delay system change when an eigenvalue of the boundary value problem intersects the circumference of the unit disk. We assume that, at this moment, the boundary value problem is self-adjoint. Sufficient coefficient conditions for the asymptotic stability of linear periodic delay systems are given.  相似文献

The purpose of this work is to study the spectral properties of the problem of transmission arising after the linearization of two-phase problems of Stefan and Florin with classical boundary condition on a small time interval. With the help of the operator methods of mathematical physics, a boundary-value problem is reduced to the study of the spectrum of a weakly perturbed compact self-adjoint operator in a Hilbert space. On the basis of the theorems of M. V. Keldysh and V. B. Lidskii, we have established the basis property of the system of eigen- and associated elements by Abel–Lidskii in some Hilbert space. It is proved that the spectrum is discrete with the single limiting point at infinity. It is situated on the positive semiaxis or, except for a finite number of eigenvalues, in the aperture angle ε. The growth of the moduli of eigenvalues is estimated, and some asymptotic formulas are obtained.  相似文献

In this study, we investigate the boundary-value problem with eigenvalue parameter generated by the differential equation with discontinuous coefficients and boundary conditions which contains not only endpoints of the considered interval, but also a point of discontinuity, a finite number of internal points and abstract linear functionals. So our problem is not a pure boundary-value one. We single out a class of linear functionals and find simple algebraic conditions on the coefficients which guarantee the existence of an infinite number of eigenvalues. Also, the asymptotic formulas for the eigenvalues are found. The results obtained in this paper are new, even in the case of boundary conditions either without internal points or without linear functionals.  相似文献

The eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of certain operators generated by symmetric differential expressions with constant coefficients and self-adjoint boundary conditions in the space of Lebesgue squareintegrable functions on an interval are explicitly calculated, while the resolvents of these operators are integral operators with kernels for which the theorem on an eigenfunction expansion holds. In addition, each of these kernels is the Green’s function of a self-adjoint boundary value problem, and the procedure for its construction is well known. Thus, the Green’s functions of these problems can be expanded in series in terms of eigenfunctions. In this study, identities obtained by this method are used to calculate the sums of convergent number series and to represent the sums of certain power series in an intergral form.  相似文献
