A novel procedure for determination of trace As(III) and As(V), Sb(III) and Sb(V), Se(IV) and Se(VI), Te(IV) and Te(VI) in water by atomic-absorption spectrophotometry after separation and enrichment with "thiol cotton" and hydride generation has been established. The sorption behaviour of various oxidation states of arsenic, antimony, selenium and tellurium, and the conditions of quantitative sorption and desorption of these species were studied. The procedures for reducing species from higher oxidation states were optimized. Interferences from other species and their elimination were investigated. The selectivity of the procedure for the determination of species in higher and lower oxidation states was examined. The procedure has been successfully used to determine arsenic, antimony, selenium and tellurium in water, in the range from pg ml to ng ml . The recoveries for added spikes were in the range 90-110%, with coefficients of variation in the range 3-8%  相似文献

A new method for the simultaneous separation and determination of four arsenic species [As(III), As(V), monomethylarsonic acid and dimethylarsinic acid], three selenium species [Se(IV), Se(VI) and selenomethionine] as well as Sb(III) and Sb(V) is presented. The speciation was achieved by on-line coupling of anion exchange high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Chromatographic parameters such as the composition and pH of the mobile phase were optimised. Limits of detection are below 4.5 μg L–1 (as element) for Sb(III) and the selenium species and below 0.5 μg L–1 for the other species. Precisions of retention times were better than 2% RSD and of peak areas better than 8% RSD for all the species investigated.  相似文献

Hydride generation (HG) coupled with AAS, ICP–AES, and AFS techniques for the speciation analysis of As, Sb, Se, and Te in environmental water samples is reviewed. Careful control of experimental conditions, offline/online sample pretreatment methods employing batch, continuous and flow-injection techniques, and cryogenic trapping of hydrides enable the determination of various species of hydride-forming elements without the use of chromatographic separation. Other non-chromatographic approaches include solvent extraction, ion exchange, and selective retention by microorganisms. Sample pretreatment, pH dependency of HG, and control of NaBH4/HCl concentration facilitate the determination of As(III), As(V), monomethylarsonate (MMA), and dimethylarsinate (DMA) species. Inorganic species of arsenic are dominant in terrestrial waters, whereas inorganic and methylated species are reported in seawater. Selenium and tellurium speciation analysis is based on the hydrides generation only from the tetravalent state. Se(IV) and Se(VI) are the inorganic selenium species mostly reported in environmental samples, whereas speciation of tellurium is rarely reported. Antimony speciation analysis is based on the slow kinetics of hydride formation from the pentavalent state and is mainly reported in seawater samples.  相似文献

The solution conditions and other parameters affecting the ammonium pyrrolidine-dithiocarbamate—methyl isobutyl ketone extraction system for graphite-furnace atomic absorption spectrometric determination of As(III), As(V), Sb(III), Sb(V), Se(IV) and Se(VI) were studied in detail. The solution conditions for the single or simultaneous extraction of As(III), Sb(III) and Se(IV) were not critical. Arsenic(V) and Se(VI) were not extracted over the entire range of pH and acidity studied. Antimony(V) was extracted only in the acidity range 0.3—1.0 M HCl. Simultaneous extraction of total arsenic and total antimony was possible after reduction of As(V) with thiosulphate. Interference studies are also reported.  相似文献

A solvent extraction preconcentration as well as separation method involving ammonium pyrrolinedithiocarbamate (APDC) and 4-methyl-2-pentanone (MIBK) in conjunction with neutron activation analysis (NAA) was developed for the simultaneous measurement of low levels of inorganic arsenic, antimony and selenium species in natural waters. Several critical factors affecting the APDC/MIBK-NAA method were studied in detail including the selection of chelating agent, solvent, aqueous pH for the extraction of six species as well as a few organoarsenic species as representatives for organic species, the stability of the complexes in organic phase, phase volume ratios for extraction and back-extraction steps, and the reduction of the species from higher to lower oxidation state. The detection limits for arsenic, antimony and selenium were found to be as low as 0.026, 0.010 and 0.12 μg L?1, respectively. Trace amounts of As(III), As(V), Sb(III), Sb(V), and Se(IV) in different types of natural water sample and two water certified reference materials were measured using the APDC/MIBK-NAA method.  相似文献

An anion exchange HPLC-ICP-MS procedure allowing the simultaneous multielemental speciation analysis of arsenic, selenium, antimony and tellurium has been developed. Four arsenic species (AsIII, AsV, monomethylarsonic acid and dimethylarsinic acid), two selenium species (SeIV and SeVI) may be determined in a single run as well as one antimony (SbV) and one tellurium species (TeVI). Alternatively Sb and/or Te may be used as internal standards for As and Se speciation studies. Optimisation of ICP-MS conditions led to satisfactory relative (0.01 (SbV) to 1.8 (SeVI) ng ml−1) and absolute detection limits (1–180 pg). Reproducibility ranged from 3.1 to 5.6% and the linearity was verified in the 0–200 ng ml−1 range.  相似文献

The paper presents a procedure for the multi-element inorganic speciation of As(III, V), Se(IV, VI) and Sb(III, V) in natural water with GF-AAS using solid phase extraction technology. Total As(III, V), Se(IV, VI) and Sb(III, V) were determined according to the following procedure: titanium dioxide (TiO2) was used to adsorb inorganic species of As, Se and Sb in sample solution; after filtration, the solid phase was prepared to be slurry for determination. For As(III), Se(IV) and Sb(III), their inorganic species were coprecipitated with Pb-PDC, dissolved in dilute nitric acid, and then determined. The concentrations of As(V), Se(VI) and Sb(V) can be calculated by the difference of the concentrations obtained by the above determinations. For the determination of As(III), Se(IV) and Sb(III), palladium was chosen as a modifier and pyrolysis temperature was 800 °C. Optimum conditions for the coprecipitation were listed for 100 ml of sample solution: pH 3.0, 15 min of stirring time, 40.0 μg l−1 Pb(NO3)2 and 150.0 μg l−1 APDC. The proposed method was applied to the determination of trace amounts of As(III, V), Se(IV, VI) and Sb(III, V) in river water and seawater.  相似文献

A cold trap system for the simultaneous determination of arsenic, antimony, selenium and tin by continuous hydride generation and gas phase molecular absorption spectrometry is described. The hydride generation is carried out in two steps; first, tin hydride is generated at low acidity and second, arsenic, antimony and selenium hydrides are formed at higher acidity. All the hydrides are collected in a liquid nitrogen cryogenic trap and transported to the flow cell of a diode array spectrophotometer, where molecular absorption spectra are obtained in the 190-250 nm range. Five calibration solutions containing arsenic, antimony, selenium and tin are solved using multiple linear regression analysis. Tests are performed in order to extend the same manifold to other hydrides but no signals are obtained for bismuth, cadmium, lead, tellurium and germanium. Under the optimum conditions found and using the wavelengths of maximum sensitivity (190, 198, 220 and 194 nm), the analytical characteristics of each element are calculated. The detection limits are 0.050, 0.020, 0.12 and 1.1 mug ml(-1) and the RSD values are 3.7, 3.1, 3.5 and 3.0% for As, Sb, Se and Sn, respectively. The method is applied to As, Sb, Se and Sn determination in natural spiked water samples.  相似文献

Continuous flow hydride generation procedures for As(III), total inorganic As, Cd, total inorganic Sb, Se(IV) and total inorganic Se from sea and hot-spring water samples were optimised by experimental designs. Ir-coated graphite tubes were used as preconcentration and atomisation medium of the hydrides generated. Several factors affecting the hydride generation efficiency were studied. Results obtained from Plackett-Burman designs suggest that sodium borohydride flow rate and reduction coil length, are significant factors for total inorganic arsenic hydride generation. For cadmium hydride generation the significant factors are hydrochloric acid concentration, hydrochloric acid and sodium borohydride flow rates and reduction coil length. For total inorganic antimony hydride generation the factors affecting the hydride generation procedure are hydrochloric acid and potassium iodide concentrations and reduction coil length; finally, pre-reduction coil length and oven temperature for the pre-reduction step are statistically significant factors for total inorganic selenium hydride generation. In addition, the factors studied for the arsenic and selenium hydride generation from As(III) and Se(IV) are not significant. From these studies, the significant variables were optimised by central composite designs. Validation carried out analysis on three reference materials: SLRS-4 (Riverie water), CASS-3 (seawater) and NIST-1643d.  相似文献

An ion chromatography-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometric (IC-ICP-MS) method for the speciation of selenium and tellurium compounds namely selenite [Se(IV)], selenate [Se(VI)], Se-methylselenocysteine (MeSeCys), selenomethione (SeMet), tellurite [Te(IV)] and tellurate [Te(VI)] is described. Chromatographic separation is performed in gradient elution mode using 0.5 mmol L(-1) ammonium citrate in 2% methanol (pH 3.7) and 20 mmol L(-1) ammonium citrate in 2% methanol (pH 8.0). The analyses are carried out using dynamic reaction cell (DRC) ICP-MS. The DRC conditions have also been optimized to obtain interference free measurements of (78)Se(+) and (80)Se(+) which are otherwise interfered by (38)Ar(40)Ar(+) and (40)Ar(40)Ar(+), respectively. The detection limits of the procedure are in the range 0.01-0.03 ng Se mL(-1) and 0.01-0.08 ng Te mL(-1), respectively. The accuracy of the method has been verified by comparing the sum of the concentrations of individual species obtained by the present procedure with the total concentration of the elements in two NIST SRMs Whole Milk Powder RM 8435 and Rice Flour SRM 1568a. The selenium and tellurium species are extracted from milk powder and rice flour samples by using Protease XIV at 70 degrees C on a water bath for 30 min.  相似文献

A new method allowing the analysis of inorganic arsenic species using isotachophoresis has been developed. This method has been shown to be suitable for use on both miniaturised planar polymer separation devices and capillary scale devices. A poly(methyl methacrylate) chip with integrated conductivity electrodes has been successfully used for the rapid analysis of inorganic arsenic species in under 600 s. Limits of detection of 1.8 mg l−1 and 4.8 mg l−1 for arsenic(V) and arsenic(III), respectively, have been achieved with the miniaturised device. The device has also been used to perform the simultaneous separation of arsenic(III), arsenic(V), antimony(III), molybdenum(VI) and tellurium(IV).  相似文献

The coprecipitation behavior of 44 elements (47 ions because of chromium(III,VI), arsenic(III,V), and antimony(III,V)) with yttrium phosphate was investigated at various pHs. Yttrium phosphate could quantitatively coprecipitate iron(III), lead, bismuth, and indium over a wide pH range; however, 18 ions, including alkali metals and oxo anions, such as vanadium(V), chromium(VI), molybdenum(VI), tungsten(VI), germanium(IV), arsenic(III,V), selenium(IV), and tellurium(VI), were scarcely collected. In addition, 19 ions, including cobalt, nickel, and copper(II), were hardly coprecipitated at pHs below about 3. Based on these results, the separation of iron(III), lead, and bismuth from cobalt, nickel, and copper(II) matrices was investigated. Iron(III), lead, and bismuth ranging from 0.5 to 25 μg could be separated effectively from a solution containing 0.5 g of cobalt, nickel, or copper at pH 3.0. The separated iron(III), lead, and bismuth could be determined by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry using internal standardization. The detection limits (3σ, n = 7) of iron(III), lead, and bismuth were 0.008, 0.137, and 0.073 μg, respectively. The proposed method was applied to the analyses of metals and chlorides of cobalt, nickel, and copper.  相似文献

Determination of inorganic oxyanions of As and Se by HPLC-ICPMS   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Sathrugnan K  Hirata S 《Talanta》2004,64(1):237-243
A liquid chromatographic separation of inorganic oxyanions of As (As(V) and As(III)) and Se (Se(VI) and Se(IV)) using mixed ion-pairing reagents followed by ICPMS detection is described. The separation was accomplished in less than 4 min on Capcell C18 RP column using mixed ion-pairing modifier containing 5 mM of butane sulfonic acid (BSA), 2 mM malonic acid, 0.30 mM hexane sulfonic acid (HSA) and 0.5% methanol of pH 2.5. All four species were resolved with retention times of 2.4, 2.6, 3.0, and 3.1 min for Se(VI), As(V), As(III), and Se(IV), respectively. The detection limits were less than 0.08 and 0.77 μg l−1 for arsenic and selenium species, respectively. The relative standard deviation of the proposed method for arsenic (at 2.5 μg l−1) and selenium (at 10 μg l−1) was less than 3.7 and 4.8%, respectively. The technique was used to determine inorganic oxyanions of As and Se in water samples (tap, well, and river) and extracts of coal fly ash and sediment. Low power microwave digestion was employed for extraction from fly ash and sediment samples.  相似文献

High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled to an ICP-MS with an octapole reaction system (ORS) has been used to carry out quantitative speciation of selenium (Se) and arsenic (As) in the stream waters of a refining process. The argon dimers interfering with the 78Se and 80Se isotopes were suppressed by pressurizing the octapole chamber with 3.1 mL min−1 H2 and 0.5 mL min−1 He. Four arsenic species arsenite—As(III), arsenate (As(V)), monomethylarsonic acid (MMA), and dimethylarsinic acid (DMA)—and three inorganic Se species—selenite Se(IV), selenate Se(VI), and selenocyanate (SeCN)—were separated in a single run by ion chromatography (IC) using gradient elution with 100 mmol L−1 NH4NO3, pH 8.5, adjusted by addition of NH3, as eluent. Repeatabilities of peak position and of peak area evaluation were better than 1% and about 3%, respectively. Detection limits (as 3σ of the baseline noise) were 81, 56, and 75 ng L−1 for Se(IV), Se(VI), and SeCN, respectively, and 22, 19, 25, and 16 ng L−1 for As(III), As(V), MMA, and DMA, respectively. Calibration curve R 2 values ranged between 0.996 and 0.999 for the arsenic and selenium species. Column recovery for ion chromatography was calculated to be 97 ± 6% for combined arsenic species and 98 ± 3% for combined selenium species. Because certified reference materials for As and Se speciation studies are still not commercially available, in order to check accuracy and precision the method was applied to certified reference materials, BCR 714, BCR 1714, and BCR 715 and to two different refinery samples—inlet and outlet wastewater. The method was successfully used to study the quantitative speciation of selenium and arsenic in petroleum refinery wastewaters.  相似文献

The differential pulse polarography of Ge(IV), Sn(IV), As(V), Sb(V), Se(IV) and Te(VI) has been investigated in perchlorate media containing catechol using a static mercury drop electrode. Under optimum conditions, Ge(IV), Sn(IV), As(V), and Sb(V) undergo reduction to yield well-defined peaks; detection limits of 82 ppb, 28 ppb, 4 ppm, and 25 ppb, respectively, have been calculated. Few electrolytes are known for which these ions exhibit a quantitatively useful polarographic response. While Se(IV) and Te(VI) may be detected at levels of 115 ppb and 17 ppb, respectively, addition of catechol does not enhance the peak current relative to that observed in simple perchlorate solutions, as was the case for the other ions studied. The determination of germanium, arsenic and antimony in samples is described.  相似文献

Aqueous solutions and blood plasma spiked with selenite (Se(IV)), selenate (Se(VI)), selenomethionine (SeMet) or trimethylselenonium (TMSe) iodide were analyzed by Zeeman-corrected electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) using palladium as a chemical modifier, and by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Using ETAAS, the sensitivities for Se(IV), SeMet and TMSe in aqueous solution were similar, whereas the sensitivity of Se(VI) was 63% of that value. In blood plasma, the ETAAS sensitivities of Se(IV) and Se(VI) were equal, whereas the sensitivities of SeMet and TMSe were 87 and 56%, respectively, of that value. In contrast, the ICP-MS sensitivities obtained for Se(VI), TMSe and SeMet were between 96 and 98% of that obtained for Se(IV) in aqueous solution and in blood plasma. It is concluded, that ICP-MS is superior to ETAAS as the problem of differences in sensitivity of the selenium species when using ETAAS are not prevalent when using the ICP-MS technique.  相似文献
