For a bounded regular Jordan domain in R 2, we introduce and study a new class of functions K() related on its Green function G. We exploit the properties of this class to prove the existence and the uniqueness of a positive solution for the singular nonlinear elliptic equation u+(x,u)=0, in D(), with u=0 on and uC(), where is a nonnegative Borel measurable function in ×(0,) that belongs to a convex cone which contains, in particular, all functions (x,t)=q(x)t ,>0 with nonnegative functions qK(). Some estimates on the solution are also given.  相似文献

For a class of algorithms R satisfying sufficiently general conditions and an enumeration of the algorithms of this class, it is proved that if the algorithm from R with code m in this enumeration algorithmically decides a property, nontrivial to N1 and invariant (with respect to extensional equality) up to N, then for N max (t2(c)t5(N1, t2(a)) one has m t–3(N), where the constantsa, c and the function t are indicated in the text of the paper, t–3(N) is used instead of t–1(t–1(t–1(N))), and finally, t–1(x)=yx[t(y)x]. For natural enumerations the constantsa, c are not large, and the function t does not grow too rapidly. We obtain the analytic expression for the total cross section of the reaction e e +l l + (l=,) taking possible quasianapole interaction effects into account. Let n be n-dimensional Euclidean space, and let : [0, L] n and : [0, L] n be closed rectifiable arcs in n of the same total length L which are parametrized via their arc length. is said to be a chord-stretched version of if for each 0s tL, |(t)–(s)| |(t)–(s)|. is said to be convex if is simple and if ([0, L]) is the frontier of some plane convex set. Individual work by Professors G. Choquet and G. T. Sallee demonstrated that if were simple then there existed a convex chord-stretched version of . This result led Professor Yang Lu to conjecture that if were convex and were a chord-stretched version of then and would be congruent, i.e. any chord-stretching map of a convex arc is an isometry. Professor Yang Lu has proved this conjecture in the case where and are C 2 curves. In this paper we prove the conjecture in general.  相似文献

Let be a Guelfand measure (cf. [A, B]) on a locally compact groupG DenoteL 1 (G)=*L 1(G)* the commutative Banach algebra associated to . We show thatL 1 (G) is semi-simple and give a characterization of the closed ideals ofL 1 (G). Using the -spherical Fourier transform, we characterize all linear bounded operators inL 1 (G) which are invariants by -translations (i.e. such that 1(( x f) )=( x ((f)) for eachxG andfL 1 (G); where x f(y)=f(xy); x,y G). WhenG is compact, we study the algebraL 1 (G) and obtain results analogous to ones obtained for the commutative case: we show thatL 1 (G) is regular, all closed sets of its Guelfand spectrum are sets of synthesis and establish theorems of harmonic synthesis for functions inL p (G) (p=1,2 or +).

It is well- known that a nonoscillatory solution x(t) of (1) satisfies (2) x(t)x(i)(t)>0 (0il), (–1)i–lx(t)x(i)(t)>0 (lin) for some integer l, 0ln, (–1)n–l–1=1. In this paper, for a given l such that 0n–l–1=1, necessary conditions and sufficient conditions are found for (1) to have a solution x(t) which satisfies (2), and a necessary and sufficient condition is established in order that for every >0 the equation x(n)(t)+p(t)x(g(t))=0 (t>a) has a solution x(t) which satisfies (2). Sensitivity of a posterior quantity (f, P) to the choice of the sampling distribution f and prior P is considered. Sensitivity is measured by the range of (f, P) when f and P vary in nonparametric classes f and P respectively. Direct and iterative methods are described which obtain the range of (f, P) over f f when prior P is fixed, and also the overall range over f f and P P . When multiple i.i.d. observations X 1,...,X k are observed from f, the posterior quantity (f, P) is not a ratio-linear function of f. A method of steepest descent is proposed to obtain the range of (f, P). Several examples illustrate applications of these methods.  相似文献

Summary In this note we consider a semi-Markovian operator, that is a positive linear mapping T: L 1 L 1 such that sup T n <. We study the behavior of T n on the Z 1-part of the space (the disappearing part in Sucheston's terminology). Summary Motivated by different mean value properties, the functional equationsf(x) – f(y)/x–y=[(x, y)], (i)xf(y) – yf(x)/x–y=[(x, y)] (ii) (x y) are completely solved when, are arithmetic, geometric or harmonic means andx, y elements of proper real intervals. In view of a duality between (i) and (ii), three of the results are consequences of other three.The equation (ii) is also solved when is a (strictly monotonic) quasiarithmetic mean while the real interval contains 0 and when is the arithmetic mean while the domain is a field of characteristic different from 2 and 3. Referring to articles of BELTRAMI (1865), DINI (1866) and CHARIAR (1978), but using a completely different approach, we determine allruled surfaces in Euclidean space 3, which are (at leastlocally) WEINGARTEN —-surfaces under theminimal assumption C2. Theskew ruled WEINGARTEN —surfaces can be characterized by havingconstant invariants d O (parameter of distribution), k (skewness of distribution) and (striction angle); theirfunctional (WEINGARTEN-)relation between the mean curvature H and the Gaussian curvature K of is of the form H= (-K)1/4 + (-K)3/4 with arbitrary real constants ,. These facts allow various geometric interpretations.

The Bass–Heller–Swan–Farrell–Hsiang–Siebenmann decomposition of the Whitehead group K 1(A[z,z-1]) of a twisted Laurent polynomial extension A[z,z-1] of a ring A is generalized to a decomposition of the Whitehead group K 1(A((z))) of a twisted Novikov ring of power series A((z))=A[[z]][z-1]. The decomposition involves a summand W1(A, ) which is an Abelian quotient of the multiplicative group W(A,) of Witt vectors 1+a1z+a2z2+ ··· A[[z]]. We will investigate the properties of series of functions which are unconditionally convergent almost everywhere on [0, 1]. Under Riemann's hypothesis, we prove the estimates 2(x)x1/7+, 3(x)x97/804+(>0), which improve those of Cao and Nowak. The problem of solving the one-dimensional heat equation /t - 2/x2 = f(x, t) subject to given initial and nonlocal conditions is considered. It is solved in the Laplace transform domain by taking the Laplace transform of the unknown function with respect to time t.
