Multi-kolowatt pulses with limited wavelength tunability have been produced in several bands between 186 and 817 m by pumping v3 P-branch transitions in12CH3F and12CD3F with the 10.6 m band of a ten-atmosphere CO2 laser. The FIR emissions are all restricted to the immediate neighborhood of the resonances associated with successive J-numbers, but there is some evidence that additional off-resonant emission could be produced with stronger pumping. The optimum operating pressure for the various molecule/J-number combinations range from 7 to 75 torr and increase rapidly with increasing J-number.  相似文献

Conclusion The compact superradiant FIR laser is developed using Herriott cell with long optical path as a FIR cell. The employment of the multipass cell gave an opportunity to increase the IR to FIR conversion efficiency in comparison with traditionally constructed FIR lasers and to observe many intensive FIR lines. Cavity operation of an optically pumped, pulsed, C13H3F far-infrared laser is described. The use of a Fabry-Perot output coupler has resulted in selectable line emission at 1222, 1207, 1006, 388 and 412 m with power levels in the 1–20 kW range. In addition, single mode operation on the longer wavelength lines has been achieved. Experimental evidence is also presented for a collisionally coupled two-photon absorption process which is responsible for the observed short wavelength emission.  相似文献

A CH3OH FIR system has been developed for plasma diagnostics. A CO2 laser devoted to pump the CH3OH molecule has been studied. Different internal diameters of FIR cavity, input coupling holes and focusing lenses have been experimented.It has been found that the system formed by three subsystems-pump laser, guiding channel and FIR cavity-behaves like an unique system. The pump polarization has an evident effect on a superradiant FIR Raman laser both in NH3 and CH3F gases when the pump detuning from the resonant line is larger than the Raby frequency. In particular for R resonant lines the circular polarization shows a spontaneous gain about 1.5 times greater than the linear polarization as expected from the theory.  相似文献

An extensive theoretical and experimental analysis of the absorption and emission spectrum of a CH3OH FIR-laser excited by a conventional CO2 laser is presented. Particular interest is devoted to the Stark shifts of the pump and lasing lines and to the electric field dependence of the Fir-laser output of the various lines. The offsets with respect to the exciting radiation and the Stark shifts of the IR absorption (pump) lines are measured by means of the transferred Lamb dip technique. The theoretical behaviours of the Stark patterns are calculated for several choices of the quantum numbers and selection rules involved in the transitions. A large variety of experimental results are reported and compared to theory. Non-linear Stark shifts have been observed for the 37.5m FIR laser line and for the IR-pump transitions excited by the 9-P(38) and 10-R(38) CO2 laser Lines. Line assignments are proposed and new FIR laser lines are reported.  相似文献

The two or multi-mode optically pumped NH3 FIR laser had been studied theoretically. The NH3 molecular gas was assumed to be a three-level system and obeyed the time-dependent behavior of the density matrix equations. Considering the situation of playing the two or multi-mode optical pumping and the FIR laser field were same polarized. The gain coefficient and the output FIR power of the system could be calculated by using the iteration method.It had been predicted that the two or multiple longitudinal mode optically pumped NH3 FIR laser could have a greater output power or higher lasing efficiency than single mode pumped FIR laser under suitable selected operating parameters of laser.Supported by The Education Foundation of PRC.  相似文献

Operation of a CH3F laser at 496μ has been obtained in a hemispherical optical cavity pumped by up to 42 J of 9.55μ CO2 TEA laser radiation. Highly modulated 1μ pulses delivering 6 mJ at peak powers greater than 10 kW have been recorded.  相似文献

The six-level model using a density matrix approach to simulate properties of a gas resorant media in optically pumped FIR lasers was developed. The model accounts for multiphoton as well as parametric processes. Advantages of the developed model are demonstrated by calculation and discussion of the gain and saturated emission spectra of CH3F laser when transitions with different J rotational numbers of CH3F are pumped.  相似文献

The optoacoustic spectrum of CH3Br around 10 m band lines of a tunable cw waveguide CO2 laser is investigated. Several new infrared absorptions are observed and most of the correspond ing molecular transitions are assigned. Far infra red laser action is reported by pumping with the same CO2 laser: pump offsets are given using the Transferred Lambs dip (TLD) technique. A new FIR laser emission is obtained and assigned. Summary We described a13CH3F Raman laser pumped by a grating tuned 20 atmospheres CO2 laser. The emission characteristics of the13CH3F laser extends from 14 cm–1–35 cm–1 and from 49 cm–1–72 cm–1; about 65% of these frequency ranges can be covered with tunable radiation. The characteristics shows a strong dependence on the rotaional quantum numbers of the states involved in the Raman laser transitions and, within each tuning interval, on the frequency offset with respect to the frequencies of resonant transitions. We obtained, at 51 cm–1, a maximum FIR laser pulse energy of about 800 J (at a pump energy of 200 mJ), corresponding to a photon conversion of about 8%. In some cases we have observed simultaneous emission at a Raman and a cascade frequency. In addition, FIR emission power dependence on13CH3F gas pressure and pump pulse power were investigated for different J quantum numbers.  相似文献

A direct frequency measurement of the 496 μm, K = 2 line from a CH3F laser is reported. Our laser is a metallic wave-guide device pumped by a frequency stabilized CO2 laser; its output is mixed in a CaAs-Au Schottky barrier diode with a 100 GHz klystron and the beat note is observed on a spectrum analyzer. The result is fCH3F(496 μm, K = 2) = 604 297.5 ± 0.2 MHz.  相似文献

Conclusion We described a CH3F Raman laser pumped by a two stage 20 atmospheres CO2 laser. The emission spectrum of the CH3F laser at 11 Torr extends from 23 cm–1 to 45 cm–1 when the CO2 laser is scanned over the 9R emission branch at a fixed pump power of 180 mJ. The emission spectrum shows a strong structure with large parts where the FIR energy decreases to zero. This fact makes the use of such a laser for spectroscopic scanning experiments in the FIR difficult. The laser is, however, very suited for working at fixed but adjustable FIR frequencies. The pulse energy in the maxima of the emission characteristics at a pump energy of 180 mJ exceeds 300 J, which corresponds a photon conversion coefficient of more than 6%.  相似文献

A careful analysis of the rotovibrational spectroscopic data of CH3CN is presented taking into account Fermi and Coriolis interactions. A large majority of the FIR lines obtained by optical pumping is assigned. A compact CO2–NH3 FIR laser system where an NH3 laser cavity was inserted in pump, three mirror CO2 laser cavity was designed. The total length of this system was about 1.8 m. Output energy of about 1 mJ (10 KW pea power) was obtained at the 152 m and 90 m lines in NH3. Power conversion efficiency of 1.7 percent was obtained at the 90 m line.  相似文献
