A fluorescent optode membrane for sodium ion that works on the basis of a cation-exchange mechanism has been developed. The plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) membrane incorporating sodium-selective ionophore (4-tert-butylcalix[4]arene tetraacetic acid tetraethyl ester), acidic fluorescent pH indicator (5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphine, TPP) and a lipophilic anionic site (potassium tetrakis(4-chlorophenyl)borate) was used as the sensing device, which exhibits the theoretically expected fluorescent response to sodium ion. The selectivity, response time, reproducibility and lifetime of the optode membrane were discussed.  相似文献

A series of stilbene-bridged calix[4]arenes was synthesized through an intramolecular reductive McMurry coupling of bisbenzaldehyde calix[4]arene in high yields. Tetra- and pentaethylene glycol chains were tethered to the phenolic groups of calix[4]arene to form stilbene-bridged calix[4]arene crown-5 and crown-6, respectively. The presence of stilbene bridge over the calix[4]arene rim effectively prevented the connection of the polyether chains in the cone conformation resulting in the exclusive formation of 1,3-alternate stilbene-bridged calix[4]arene crown product. Compared to the cone analogues, the 1,3-alternate calix[4]arene crown ethers showed a greater extraction ability and selectivity toward Cs+.  相似文献

Abstract

A sensitive fluorescent sensing membrane has been developed for the rapid detection of sodium ions by immobilizing the membrane onto a glass slide surface. The membrane consists of a fluorophore, an ionophore, a plasticizer, and an anionic site of a lipophilic salt in a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) matrix. Based on the ion‐exchange response and photoinduced electron transfer mechanisms, the ionophore first captures target sodium ions from the solution into the membrane, and then the fluorophore emits a fluorescent signal based on the amount of sodium ions captured. To effectively transmit the signal and avoid the leaching of the fluorophore from the membrane, a newly synthesized fluorescent compound was used as a fluorophore in the fabrication of the membrane. Due to the special structure of the fluorophore, it remains trapped inside the membrane and thus gives a reliable fluorescent signal when sodium ions exist in the solution. Calix[4]arene tetraester acts as a sodium ion carrier, the crown size in its molecular structure is compatible with the sodium ionic size, making the membrane highly selective to sodium ions. Furthermore, the membrane demonstrates a rapid response to sodium ions—less than 1 min is required to reach a stable fluorescent signal. The sodium content in various real samples, such as mineral water, urine, and serum, were determined by the sensing membrane. The results highly correlate with the atomic absorption spectrometry method, confirming the validity of the fluorescent sensing membrane for sodium ion detection.  相似文献

New podands based on the p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene unit with substitution at the lower rim incorporating imine units, have been synthesized in high yield by simple condensation method. These podands have been shown to extract and transport Ag+ selectively over alkali, alkaline earth metal cations, Zn2+, Pb2+ and Hg2+ ions, from neutral aqueous phase to organic phase. In all the ligands the calix unit has been found to be present in a cone conformation except for the one having pyridine as end group, at the ortho position. It has been isolated in two conformations; cone and 1,2-alternate. To the best of our knowledge, this may be the first 1,3-lower rim substituted calix[4]arene to exist in a 1,2-alternate conformation and is among a few known compounds with this conformation in the general class of calix[4]arenes. A complex of this ligand, which happens to be the highest extractant of Ag+ has been isolated and characterized using mass, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy's and elemental analysis. The spectroscopic evidence and molecular modelling studies performed on the complex suggest a participation of the imine and pyridine nitrogens and two of the ether oxygens in coordination to the metal ion. The X-ray crystal structures of three of the ligands establish the formation of inclusion complexes with polar acetonitrile solvent molecules. The 1H and 13C NMR spectra of all the compounds, taken in CDCl3, show the presence of acetonitrile molecules in the cavity of the calix[4]arene, indicating inclusion of the neutral guest molecules in the solution phase as well. For one of the podands X-ray crystal structure has shown a formation of clatharate complex of chloroform with the ligand which has rarely been found in the case of calix[4]arenes.  相似文献

One type of lipophilic calix[4]biscrowns in the 1,3-alternate conformation which are highly selective complexant for cesium has been used to construct cesium poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) membrane optode. The reversible sensing system has been formed by incorporating the lipophilic neutral H+—selective chromoionophore ETH5294 in the plasticized PVC membrane with 1,3-calix[4]bisnaphtyl-crown-6. The measuring range of cesium ions can be conditioned by buffering different pH in the cesium solutions. At pH 7.0, the measuring range of the optode membrane for cesium ions is from 1×10−6 to 1×10−2 M. The response behavior of optode membrane including response time, selectivity, reproducibility and lifetime, has been described in detail.  相似文献

New upper-rim polyphosphorylated calix[4]arenes were designed for decorporation of uranium in case of nuclear contamination. A ligand system containing four preorganized 1-hydroxymethylene-1,1-bisphosphonic acid moieties anchored onto a calix[4]arene platform has been developed. Three calix[4]arene-bisphosphonates were efficiently prepared in multi-step syntheses with a variable carbon chain length between the bisphosphonate and the calix[4]arene. Affinity constants towards uranyl ion were determined and compared with those of bis(HEDP) and tris(HEDP) phosphonates, known as efficient ligands for uranyl.  相似文献

A novel photochromic Schiff base derivative, 5,17-N,N′-(5,5′-di-methoxyl-benzlaldehyde)diimine-25,27-dipropoxy-calix[4]arene has been synthesized through incorporation of two imine groups into the upper rims of calix[4]arene. The experiments showed that the addition of Dy3+ or Er3+ ions to compound 4 results in the solution color change, but other metal ions caused less change. It indicated that the synthetic receptor can selectively recognize Dy3+ and Er3+ ion by naked eye over other lanthanide cations. Thus, these systems can be applied as chemosensor for Dy3+ and Er3+ ion in analytical chemistry.  相似文献

The liquid-liquid extraction of various metal ions by a diphenylphosphino calix[4]arene (1) using picrate counter ion has been studied and compared with those ofp-tert-butyl-calix[4]arene methyl ether (2) and triphenylphosphine (3). The calixarene 1 shows strong binding ability to almost all metal cations examined, but calixarene 2 shows little ability to extract any of them. Potentiometric ion sensors have been prepared by galvanostatic electrosynthesis of the conducting polymer poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) doped with p-sulfonated calix[4]arene (C[4]S) and p-methylsulfonated calix[4]resorcarenes (Rn[4]S) with alkyl substituents of different chain length (R1=CH3; R2=C2H5; R3=C6H13). The bowl-shape of these doping ions makes them suitable as ionic recognition sites, and their bulky character is expected to prevent them from leaching out of the conducting polymer membrane. For comparison, sensors based on PEDOT doped with poly(styrene sulfonate) (PSS) and poly(vinyl sulfonate) (PVS) were also constructed. The resulting GC/PEDOT electrodes were conditioned in 0.01 mol L–1 AgNO3 and their performance as Ag+ ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) studied. Results reveal that selectivity and lifetime of the electrodes is affected by the doping anion structure, although all electrodes show selectivity towards Ag+ ions. Interaction of Ag+ with sulfur atoms present in the conducting polymer backbone is considered to be the main reason for this behavior. A second set of electrodes was constructed and conditioned in 0.1 mol L–1 KCl. A novel paramagnetic calix[4]arene 6 with an N-O monoradical on the upper rim was synthesized and studied by ESR spectroscopy. Its ESR behaviors were mainly induced by its intrinsic conformational flexibility. Abstract

A new series of water-compatible proline catalysts (4–6) derived from calixarene bearing a hydrophobic nature have been synthesised. It was found that the compound 4 was a highly efficient organocatalyst for aldol reactions occurred in the water. Under optimised reaction conditions, high yields (up to 82%), good enantioselectivities (ee up to 81%) and high diastereoselectivities (dr up to 91:9) were obtained.  相似文献

The present study describes the Pb2+ sorption potential of newly synthesized tetraester calix[4]arene (TC4) based resin from aqueous media. The TC4 resin was synthesized through diazotization reaction of TC4 with Amberlite XAD-4 in the presence of sodium nitrite in acidic medium. The TC4 resin was characterized by using different analytical techniques such as FT-IR, elemental analysis and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The Pb2+ removal ability of the resin from the aqueous environment has been evaluated by both batch adsorption as well as column studies. The experiments have been conducted involving the determination of effect of pH, adsorbate concentration, adsorbent dosage, contact time and temperature. Moreover, on the basis of kinetic studies, the pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order adsorption kinetics were calculated. The thermodynamic parameters of lead adsorption were also calculated. Equation isotherms such as Langmuir (L), Freundlich (F), and Dubinin-Radushkevich (D-R) were successfully used to model the experimental data. From the D-R isotherm parameters, it was considered that the uptake of Pb2+ by TC4 resin is ion exchange mechanism. From the results it has been found that the TC4 resin is a versatile adsorbent for the removal of Pb2+ from the aqueous environment. The study also confers its impact on human health, reinstate of polluted sites and other fields of material science.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of a new tetra (triphenylphosphonium) p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene 2 is presented. Its interactions with anions were studied by 1H and 31P NMR and UV absorption spectrophotometry, showing the biggest interaction with ClO4 , I and SCN. Anion selectivity in ion-selective PVC-membrane electrodes (ISEs) plasticized with o-NPOE containing ionophore 2 was also investigated.
