Weak type inequality for noncommutative differentially subordinated martingales

In the paper we focus on self-adjoint noncommutative martingales. We provide an extension of the notion of differential subordination, which is due to Burkholder in the commutative case. Then we show that there is a noncommutative analogue of the Burkholder method of proving martingale inequalities, which allows us to establish the weak type (1,1) inequality for differentially subordinated martingales. Moreover, a related sharp maximal weak type (1,1) inequality is proved. Research supported by MEN Grant 1 PO3A 012 29.     

Atomic decomposition and interpolation for Hardy spaces of noncommutative martingales

We prove that atomic decomposition for the Hardy spaces h₁ and H₁ is valid for noncommutative martingales. We also establish that the conditioned Hardy spaces of noncommutative martingales hp and bmo form interpolation scales with respect to both complex and real interpolations.     

Distributional inequalities for noncommutative martingales

We establish distributional estimates for noncommutative martingales, in the sense of decreasing rearrangements of the spectra of unbounded operators, which generalises the study of distributions of random variables. Our results include distributional versions of the noncommutative Stein, dual Doob, martingale transform and Burkholder-Gundy inequalities. Our proof relies upon new and powerful extrapolation theorems. As an application, we obtain some new martingale inequalities in symmetric quasi-Banach operator spaces and some interesting endpoint estimates. Our main approach demonstrates a method to build the noncommutative and classical probabilistic inequalities in an entirely operator theoretic way.     

Atomic decompositions of Banach-spacevalued martingales

Several theorems for atomic decompositions of Banach-space-valued martingales are proved. As their applications, the relationship among some martingale spaces such asH _α(X) and_ρ H _α in the case 0< α⩽ are studied. It is shown that there is a close connection between the results and the smoothness and convexity of the value spaces. Atomic decomposition characterizations of weighted multiparameter Hardy spaces

In this paper, we introduce weighted-(p, q) atomic Hardy spaces H _w ^p,q (? ⁿ ×? ^m ) for 0 < p ? 1, q >q _w and show that the weighted Hardy space H _w ^p (? ⁿ × ? ^m ) defined via Littlewood-Paley square functions coincides with H _w ^p,q (? ⁿ × ? ^m ) for 0 < p ? 1, q > q _w . As applications, we get a general principle on the H _w ^p (? ⁿ × ? ^m ) to L _w ^p (? ⁿ ×? ^m ) boundedness and a boundedness criterion for two parameter singular integrals on the weighted Hardy spaces.

A noncommutative version of the John-Nirenberg theorem

We prove a noncommutative version of the John-Nirenberg theorem for nontracial filtrations of von Neumann algebras. As an application, we obtain an analogue of the classical large deviation inequality for elements of the associated space.

In this paper, atomic decompositions of Banach lattice-valued martingales are given. We discuss the relation between the LERMT property and atomic decompositions. With the help of atomic decompositions, the relation of the martingale spaces is investigated.     

Duality results and inequalities with respect to Hardy spaces containing function sequences

With the help of two-parameter martingales and strong martingales Hardy spaces consisting of adapted function sequences are considered. The Hardy spaces generated by the square and by the conditional square functions and their dual spaces are investigated. An inequality due to Stein and Lepingle is extended to two parameters.This research was supported by the Hungarian Scientific Research Funds No. 2085 and No. 74189 as well as by DAAD, the lattest with a stay at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in München.

Rademacher averages on noncommutative symmetric spaces

Let E be a separable (or the dual of a separable) symmetric function space, let M be a semifinite von Neumann algebra and let E(M) be the associated noncommutative function space. Let (εk)_k?1 be a Rademacher sequence, on some probability space Ω. For finite sequences (xk)_k?1 of E(M), we consider the Rademacher averages k_∑εk⊗xk as elements of the noncommutative function space and study estimates for their norms ‖k_∑εk⊗xkE_‖ calculated in that space. We establish general Khintchine type inequalities in this context. Then we show that if E is 2-concave, ‖k_∑εk⊗xkE_‖ is equivalent to the infimum of over all yk, zk in E(M) such that xk=yk+zk for any k?1. Dual estimates are given when E is 2-convex and has a nontrivial upper Boyd index. In this case, ‖k_∑εk⊗xkE_‖ is equivalent to . We also study Rademacher averages _∑i,jεi⊗εj⊗xij for doubly indexed families (xij)_i,j of E(M).     

New abstract Hardy spaces

The aim of this paper is to propose an abstract construction of spaces which keep the main properties of the (already known) Hardy spaces H¹. We construct spaces through an atomic (or molecular) decomposition. We prove some results about continuity from these spaces into L¹ and some results about interpolation between these spaces and the Lebesgue spaces. We also obtain some results on weighted norm inequalities. Finally we present partial results in order to understand a characterization of the duals of Hardy spaces.

Rosenthal inequalities in noncommutative symmetric spaces

We give a direct proof of the ‘upper’ Khintchine inequality for a noncommutative symmetric (quasi-)Banach function space with nontrivial upper Boyd index. This settles an open question of C. Le Merdy and the fourth named author (Le Merdy and Sukochev, 2008 [24]). We apply this result to derive a version of Rosenthal?s theorem for sums of independent random variables in a noncommutative symmetric space. As a result we obtain a new proof of Rosenthal?s theorem for (Haagerup) Lp-spaces.
