An algebraic invariant for Jordan automorphisms on B(H): The set of idempotents

Let H be an infinite dimensional complex Hilbert space. Denote by B(H)the algebra of all bounded linear operators on H, and by I(H) the set of all idempotents in B(H). Suppose that φ is a surjective map from B(H) onto itself. If for everyλ∈ {-1, 1, 2, 3, 1/2, 1/3} and A, B ∈ B(H), A - λB ∈ I(H) (→)φ(A) - λφ(B) ∈ I(H), then φis a Jordan ring automorphism, i.e. there exists a continuous invertible linear or conjugate linear operator T on H such that φ(A) = TAT-1 for all A ∈ B(H), or φ(A) = TA*T-1 for all A ∈ B(H); if, in addition, A - iB ∈ I(H) (→)φ(A) - iφ(B) ∈ I(H), here i is the imaginary unit, then φ is either an automorphism or an anti-automorphism.     

Cyclotomic numbers and primitive idempotents in the ring GF(q)[x]/(x−1)

Let q be an odd prime power and p be an odd prime with gcd(p,q)=1. Let order of q modulo p be f, and q^f=1+pλ. Here expressions for all the primitive idempotents in the ring R_pⁿ=GF(q)[x]/(x^pn−1), for any positive integer n, are obtained in terms of cyclotomic numbers, provided p does not divide λ if n2. The dimension, generating polynomials and minimum distances of minimal cyclic codes of length pⁿ over GF(q) are also discussed.     

Boundedness of Marcinkiewicz integrals and their commutators in H1(Rn×Rm)

The authors establish the boundedness of Marcinkiewicz integrals from the Hardy space H1(Rn × Rm) to the Lebesgue space L1(Rn × Rm) and their commutators with Lipschitz functions from the Hardy space H1(Rn × Rm) to the Lebesgue space Lq(Rn × Rm) for some q＞1.     

New formula for ln(eAeB) in terms of commutators of A and B

We establish the formula $$\ln (e^B e^A ) = \smallint _0^t \psi (e^{ - \tau ad_A } e^{ - \tau ad_B } ) e^{ - \tau ad_A } d\tau (A + B),$$ where Ψ(x)=(In x)/(x ? 1); here A and B are elements of a. finite-dimensional Lie algebra which satisfy certain conditions. This formula enables us, in particular, to give a simple proof of the Campbell-Hausdorff theorem. We also give a generalization of the formula to the case of an arbitrary number of factors.     

A description of the fundamental group in terms of commutators and closure operators

A connection between the Galois-theoretic approach to semi-abelian homology and the homological closure operators is established. In particular, a generalised Hopf formula for homology is obtained, allowing the choice of a new kind of functors as coefficients. This makes it possible to calculate the fundamental groups corresponding to many interesting reflections arising, for instance, in the categories of groups, rings, compact groups and simplicial loops.     

The set of idempotents in the weakly almost periodic compactification of the integers is not closed

This paper answers negatively the question of whether the sets of idempotents in the weakly almost periodic compactifications of and are closed.

     

Generating Sets of Finite Transformation Semigroups PK(n,r) and K (n,r)

Let P _n and T _n be the partial transformation and the full transformation semigroups on the set {1,…, n}, respectively. In this paper we find necessary and sufficient conditions for any set of partial transformations of height r in the subsemigroup PK(n, r) = {α ∈P _n : |im (α)| ≤r} of P _n to be a (minimal) generating set of PK(n, r); and similarly, for any set of full transformations of height r in the subsemigroup K(n, r) = {α ∈T _n : |im (α)| ≤r} of T _n to be a (minimal) generating set of K(n, r) for 2 ≤ r ≤ n ? 1.

On the closure of the feasible set in generalized semi-infinite programming

In generalized semi-infinite programming the feasible set is known to be not closed in general. In this paper, under natural and generic assumptions, the closure of the feasible set is described in explicit terms. Recognition of simple groups B p (3) by the set of element orders

Let G be a finite group and let ω(G) be the set of its element orders. We prove that if ω(G) = ω(B _p (3)) where p is an odd prime, then G ? B ₃(3) or D ₄(3) for p = 3 and G ? B _p (3) for p > 3.

Toeplitz and composition operators on H2 (B n)

The composition operators with closed rangc on H²(B _n) are characterized, and the Fredholmness of products of Toeplitz and composition operators discussed. Moreover, using composition operators, the spectra of Toeplitz operators are studied. Multigrid in H (div) and H (curl)

Summary. We consider the solution of systems of linear algebraic equations which arise from the finite element discretization of variational problems posed in the Hilbert spaces and in three dimensions. We show that if appropriate finite element spaces and appropriate additive or multiplicative Schwarz smoothers are used, then the multigrid V-cycle is an efficient solver and preconditioner for the discrete operator. All results are uniform with respect to the mesh size, the number of mesh levels, and weights on the two terms in the inner products. Additive Maps Preserving the Star Partial Order on B(H)

Let B(H) be the C*-algebra of all bounded linear operators on a complex Hilbert space H. It is proved that an additive surjective map φ on B(H) preserving the star partial order in both directions if and only if one of the following assertions holds.(1) There exist a nonzero complex number α and two unitary operators U and V on H such that φ(X) = αUXV or φ(X) = αUX*V for all X ∈ B(H).(2)There exist a nonzero α and two anti-unitary operators U and V on H such thatφ(X) = αUXV or φ(X) = αUX*V for all X ∈ B(H).     

关于(f,T)-相容对(B,H)和_H~HYD中的Hopf代数

Ideals in the Roe Algebras of Discrete Metric Spaces with Coefficients in B(H)

The notion of an ideal family of weighted subspaces of a discrete metric space X with bounded geometry is introduced.It is shown that,if X has Yu's property A,the ideal structure of the Roe algebra of X with coefficients in B(H) is completely characterized by the ideal families of weighted subspaces of X,where B(H) denotes the C*-algebra of bounded linear operators on a separable Hilbert space H.
