We investigate the incompletely saturated ferromagnetic phase which occurs at strong-coupling in the partially-filled one-dimensional (1D) Kondo lattice model. The double-exchange interaction responsible for the ferromagnetic ordering is absent in dilute Kondo systems, and is a missing element in nearly all theoretical treatments of the model. We discuss how: 1) double-exchange arises in the system, even though the Kondo coupling is antiferromagnetic, and show that at strong-coupling it favors an alignment of the spins of unpaired localized moments; and 2) how this determines the ground-state phase diagram, and properties of the localized moments.  相似文献

The one-dimensional Kondo lattice model is investigated by means of Wegner's flow equation method. The renormalization procedure leads to an effective Hamiltonian which describes a free one-dimensional electron gas and a Heisenberg chain. The localised spins of the effective model are coupled by the well-known RKKY interaction. They are treated within a Schwinger boson mean field theory which permits the calculation of static and dynamic correlation functions. In the regime of small interaction strength static expectation values agree well with the expected Luttinger liquid behaviour. The parameter Kρ of the Luttinger liquid theory is estimated and compared to recent results from density matrix renormalization group studies.  相似文献

We investigate the optical conductivity in the Mott insulating phase of the one-dimensional extended Hubbard model with alternating hopping terms (dimerization) at quarter band filling. Optical spectra are calculated for the various parameter regimes using the dynamical density-matrix renormalization group method. The study of limiting cases allows us to explain the various structures found numerically in the optical conductivity of this model. Our calculations show that the dimerization and the nearest-neighbor repulsion determine the main features of the spectrum. The on-site repulsion plays only a secondary role. We discuss the consequences of our results for the theory of the optical conductivity in the Bechgaard salts.  相似文献

The density-matrix renormalization group (DMRG) technique is used to study the ground-state properties of the one-dimensional half-filled Hubbard model with on-site (nearest-neighbor) repulsive interaction U (V) and nearest-neighbor hopping t. We calculate the static spin structure factor to consider the spin degrees of freedom. We notice a striking difference of the static spin structure factor among the spin-density-wave, charge-density-wave (CDW), and bond-order-wave (BOW) phases. Based on the results, we identify the BOW-CDW transition at small (large) U value as continuous (of first order). We also calculate the double occupancy to consider the charge degrees of freedom. For large U, the double occupancy show a discontinuous jump at the BOW-CDW critical point and it implies first-order transition. With decreasing U, the jump becomes smaller and vanishes at the tricritical point Ut≈5.961t. This value is close to our previous estimation Ut=5.89t obtained with other quantities. Consequently, the results of static spin structure factor and double occupancy support the accuracy of our ground-state phase diagram.  相似文献

We present a series of rigorous examples of the Kondo lattice model that exhibit full ferromagnetism in the ground state. The models are defined in one-, two- and three-dimensional lattices, and are characterized by a range of hopping terms, specific electron filling, and large ferromagnetic coupling. Our examples show that a sufficient strong but finite exchange coupling between conduction electrons and localized spins could overcome the competition from mobility of a finite density of electrons and drive the system from a paramagnetic phase to a ferromagnetic phase. We also establish a relation of ferromagnetism between the Hubbard model and Kondo lattice model. Meanwhile some rigorous results on ferromagnetism in the corresponding Hubbard model are presented. The Kondo lattice model describes a lattice of localized spins Si interacting with the conduction electrons via a local exchange coupling J. Assuming a ferromagnetic Hund's rule coupling J>0, the model can be used to describe some itinerant magnetocaloric materials such as Gd(SixGe1-x)4, La(Fe1-xSix)13, and LaCa1-xMnxO3, which are important for magnetic refrigeration near room temperature. The localized magnetic moments are described in the model Hamiltonian by spin operators, and the conduction electrons by fermionic operators. To study the magnetocaloric effect, a uniform external magnetic field is added through a Zeeman term. By averaging the fermionic degrees of freedom, one obtains an indirect exchange coupling between spins at sites i and j, which corresponds to the RKKY interaction. The self-consistent mean value is evaluated in the effective Heisenberg Hamiltonian within the random phase approximation (RPA). The conduction electron magnetization for a given value of is obtained from the corresponding Green's functions through the equation of motion method. The pressure and doping dependence of the Curie temperature are taken into account in the evaluation of . The magnetocaloric effect is characterized by the isothermal entropy change ΔS and the adiabatic temperature change ΔTad upon magnetic field variations in the neighborhood of the ferromagnetic phase transition. The results are obtained for and compared to measurements with Gd compounds.  相似文献

We reexamine the ground-state phase diagram of the one-dimensional half-filled Hubbard model with on-site and nearest-neighbor repulsive interactions. We calculate second-order corrections to coupling constants in the weak-coupling renormalization-group approach ( g-ology) to show that the bond-charge-density-wave (BCDW) phase exists for weak couplings in between the charge-density-wave (CDW) and spin-density-wave (SDW) phases. We find that the umklapp scattering of parallel-spin electrons destabilizes the BCDW state and gives rise to a bicritical point where the CDW-BCDW and SDW-BCDW continuous-transition lines merge into the CDW-SDW first-order transition line.  相似文献

The integrability of the one-dimensional chiral Hubbard model is discussed in the limit of strong interaction,U=. The system is shown to be integrable in the sense of the existence of an infinite number of constants of motion. The system is related to a chiral Kondo lattice model at strong interactionJ=+.  相似文献

We address the quantum transition of a spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic Kondo lattice model with an easy-axis anisotropy using the extended dynamical mean field theory. We derive results in real frequency by using the bosonic numerical renormalization group (BNRG) method and compare them with quantum Monte Carlo results in Matsubara frequency. The BNRG results show a logarithmic divergence in the critical local spin susceptibility, signaling a destruction of Kondo screening. The T=0 transition is consistent with being second order. The BNRG results also display some subtle features; we identify their origin and suggest means for further microscopic studies.  相似文献

The unique linear density of state around the Dirac points for the honeycomb lattice brings much novel features in strongly correlated models. Here we study the ground-state phase diagram of the Kondo lattice model on the honeycomb lattice at half-filling by using an extended mean-field theory. By treating magnetic interaction and Kondo screening on an equal footing, it is found that besides a trivial discontinuous first-order quantum phase transition between well-defined Kondo insulator and antiferromagnetic insulating state, there can exist a wide coexistence region with both Kondo screening and antiferromagnetic orders in the intermediate coupling regime. In addition, the stability of Kondo insulator requires a minimum strength of the Kondo coupling. These features are attributed to the linear density of state, which are absent in the square lattice. Furthermore, fluctuation effect beyond the mean-field decoupling is analyzed and the corresponding antiferromagnetic spin-density-wave transition falls into the O(3) universal class. Comparatively, we also discuss the Kondo necklace and the Kane-Mele-Kondo (KMK) lattice models on the same lattice. Interestingly, it is found that the topological insulating state is unstable to the usual antiferromagnetic ordered states at half-filling for the KMK model. The present work may be helpful for further study on the interplay between conduction electrons and the densely localized spins on the honeycomb lattice.  相似文献

The Kondo lattice model enlarged by an antiferromagnetic coupling J AF between the localized spins is here investigated using computational techniques. Our results suggest the existence of a d-wave superconducting phase close to half-filling mediated by antiferromagnetic fluctuations. This establishes a closer connection between theory and heavy fermion experiments than currently provided by the standard Kondo lattice model with J AF=0.  相似文献

Spin dynamics is calculated in the ferromagnetic (FM) state of the generalized Kondo lattice model taking into account strong on-site correlations between eg electrons and antiferromagnetic (AFM) exchange among t2g spins. Our study suggests that competing FM double-exchange and AFM super-exchange interaction lead to a rather nontrivial spin-wave spectrum. While spin excitations have a conventional Dq2 spectrum in the long-wavelength limit, there is a strong deviation from the spin-wave spectrum of the isotropic Heisenberg model close to the zone boundary. The relevance of our results to the experimental data are discussed.  相似文献

To study the proposed phase separations in doped manganites, we performed Monte-Carlo calculations for the ferromagnetic Kondo lattice model with strong Hund's coupling between conduction electrons and localized spins. For the practical calculations, we adopted a one dimensional lattice and treated the spins of the localized t2g electrons semi-classically. A direct evidence of the phase separation is observed from a snapshot of the spatial dependence of localized spins. No indication of the canted or spiral phases is found in the results of simulations. Further, the calculated results of the spin structure factor in the phase separation region are well compared with recent experiments. This study numerically demonstrates the effects of partial band gaps on the negative refraction properties of sonic crystal. The partial band gap appearing at the second band edge leads to the efficient transmissions of scattered wave envelopes in the transverse directions inside triangular lattice sonic crystal, and therefore enhances the refraction property of sonic crystal. Numerical simulation results indicate a diagonal guidance of coupled scattered wave envelopes inside crystal structure at the partial band gap frequencies and then output waves are restored in the vicinity of the output interface of sonic crystal by combining phase coherent scattered waves according to Huygens' principles. This mechanism leads to two operations for wavefront engineering: one is spatial wavefront shifting operation and the other is convex–concave wavefront inversion operation. The effects of this mechanism on the negative refraction and wave focalization are investigated by using the finite difference time domain(FDTD) simulations. This study contributes to a better understanding of negative refraction and wave focusing mechanisms at the band edge frequencies, and shows the applications of the slab corner beam splitting and SC-air multilayer acoustic system.  相似文献

Studying electric, magnetic, and thermolectric properties of CexLa1–xCu2Si2 alloys we have determined the variation of two principal parameters-T k andT RKKY -with concentrationx in the range 0<x1. The magnetic phase diagram of CexLa1-xCu2Si2 alloys has been found to be similar to that proposed by Doniach for the one-dimensional Kondo-necklace model. The anomalous low temperature properties of nonmagnetic Kondon lattices, including heavy fermion superconductivity, are related to the formate of the narrow Abrikosov-Suhl resonance in the vicinity of the Fermi level in concentrated Kondo systems withT K T RKKY .  相似文献
