The limited electrochemical stability and the flammability of the liquid electrolytes presently used in Li-ion batteries stimulates the search for alternatives including ceramic solid electrolytes. Moreover, solid electrolytes also fulfil crucial functions in various large-scale energy storage systems, e.g. as anode-protecting membranes in aqueous Li-air batteries. Here, the processing of the solid electrolytes Li7La3Zr2O12 is studied for applications in Li-air batteries. Molten salt method (MSM) was adopted previously on synthesis of simple oxides; to the best of our knowledge, we report for the first time the adaptation of the MSM to prepare this class of solid electrolytes. As a model compound, we prepared the garnet-related Li6.75La3Zr1.75Ta0.25O12. It has been prepared by using stoichiometric amounts of La2O3, ZrCl4, and Ta2O5 in excess 0.88 M LiNO3:0.12 M LiCl molten salt. Subsequently, samples were heated to various temperatures in the range 600–900 °C for 6 h in air in a recrystallized alumina crucible and finally washed with distilled water to remove excess salts. The obtained Li6.75La3Zr1.75Ta0.25O12 electrolyte powder was characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman, and impedance spectroscopy as well as surface area measurements. The cubic single phase was obtained for samples prepared at temperatures ≥700 °C. The effects of washing with water or aqueous LiOH solution on the structure and conductivity of the phases will be discussed.  相似文献

Halide solid electrolytes, known for their high ionic conductivity at room temperature and good oxidative stability, face notable challenges in all–solid–state Li–ion batteries (ASSBs), especially with unstable cathode/solid electrolyte (SE) interface and increasing interfacial resistance during cycling. In this work, we have developed an Al3+–doped, cation–disordered epitaxial nanolayer on the LiCoO2 surface by reacting it with an artificially constructed AlPO4 nanoshell; this lithium–deficient layer featuring a rock–salt–like phase effectively suppresses oxidative decomposition of Li3InCl6 electrolyte and stabilizes the cathode/SE interface at 4.5 V. The ASSBs with the halide electrolyte Li3InCl6 and a high–loading LiCoO2 cathode demonstrated high discharge capacity and long cycling life from 3 to 4.5 V. Our findings emphasize the importance of specialized cathode surface modification in preventing SE degradation and achieving stable cycling of halide–based ASSBs at high voltages.  相似文献

Lithium metal batteries (LMBs) comprising Li metal anode and high-voltage nickel-rich cathode could potentially realize high capacity and power density. However, suitable electrolytes to tolerate the oxidation on the cathode at high cut-off voltage are urgently needed. Herein, we present an armor-like inorganic-rich cathode electrolyte interphase (CEI) strategy for exploring oxidation-resistant electrolytes for sustaining 4.8 V Li||LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 (NCM622) batteries with pentafluorophenylboronic acid (PFPBA) as the additive. In such CEI, the armored lithium borate surrounded by CEI up-layer represses the dissolution of inner CEI moieties and also improves the Li+ conductivity of CEI while abundant LiF is distributed over whole CEI to enhance the mechanical stability and Li+ conductivity compared with polymer moieties. With such robust Li+ conductive CEI, the Li||NCM622 battery delivered excellent stability at 4.6 V cut-off voltage with 91.2 % capacity retention after 400 cycles. The excellent cycling performance was also obtained even at 4.8 V cut-off voltage.  相似文献

All-solid-state batteries are promising candidates for safe energy-storage systems due to non-flammable solid electrolytes and the possibility to use metallic lithium as an anode. Thus, there is a challenge to design new solid electrolytes and to understand the principles of ion conduction on an atomic scale. We report on a new concept for compounds with high lithium ion mobility based on a rigid open-framework boron structure. The host–guest structure Li6B18(Li3N) comprises large hexagonal pores filled with Li7N] strands that represent a perfect cutout from the structure of α-Li3N. Variable-temperature 7Li NMR spectroscopy reveals a very high Li mobility in the template phase with a remarkably low activation energy below 19 kJ mol−1 and thus much lower than pristine Li3N. The formation of the solid solution of Li6B18(Li3N) and Li6B18(Li2O) over the complete compositional range allows the tuning of lithium defects in the template structure that is not possible for pristine Li3N and Li2O.  相似文献

Lithium argyrodite-type electrolytes are regarded as promising electrolytes due to their high ionic conductivity and good processability. Chemical modifications to increase ionic conductivity have already been demonstrated, but the influence of these modifications on interfacial stability remains so far unknown. In this work, we study Li6PS5Cl and Li5.5PS4.5Cl1.5 to investigate the influence of halogenation on the electrochemical decomposition of the solid electrolyte and the chemical degradation mechanism at the cathode interface in depth. Electrochemical measurements, gas analysis and time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry indicate that the Li5.5PS4.5Cl1.5 shows pronounced electrochemical decomposition at lower potentials. The chemical reaction at higher voltages leads to more gaseous degradation products, but a lower fraction of solid oxygenated phosphorous and sulfur species. This in turn leads to a decreased interfacial resistance and thus a higher cell performance.  相似文献

Polymer–ceramic composite electrolytes are emerging as a promising solution to deliver high ionic conductivity, optimal mechanical properties, and good safety for developing high‐performance all‐solid‐state rechargeable batteries. Composite electrolytes have been prepared with cubic‐phase Li7La3Zr2O12 (LLZO) garnet and polyethylene oxide (PEO) and employed in symmetric lithium battery cells. By combining selective isotope labeling and high‐resolution solid‐state Li NMR, we are able to track Li ion pathways within LLZO‐PEO composite electrolytes by monitoring the replacement of 7Li in the composite electrolyte by 6Li from the 6Li metal electrodes during battery cycling. We have provided the first experimental evidence to show that Li ions favor the pathway through the LLZO ceramic phase instead of the PEO‐LLZO interface or PEO. This approach can be widely applied to study ion pathways in ionic conductors and to provide useful insights for developing composite materials for energy storage and harvesting.  相似文献

The lithium ion mobility in three solid electrolytes (Li8SnO6, Li7NbO6, and Li6In2O6) has been studied by NMR at several resonance frequencies from 170 to 500°K. The 7Li quadrupolar lineshape evolution shows the predominant influence on the conductivity mechanism of the vacancies in the octahedral sites of the oxygen close packing. In Li8SnO6, which has no vacancies, the lithium ions situated in the tetrahedral sites have the highest mobility. Spin-lattice relaxation times are in good agreement with the hypothesis of a Li7NbO6 2D conductivity. The values of the activation energy, increasing from Li7NbO6 to Li6In2O6 and to Li8SnO6, are found to be three times lower than those obtained from conductivity measurements.  相似文献

Electrolytes with high lithium-ion conductivity, better mechanical strength and large electrochemical window are essential for the realization of high-energy density lithium batteries. Polymer electrolytes are gaining interest due to their inherent flexibility and nonflammability over conventional liquid electrolytes. In this work, lithium garnet composite polymer electrolyte membrane (GCPEM) consisting of large molecular weight (Wavg ~?5?×?106) polyethylene oxide (PEO) complexed with lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) and lithium garnet oxide Li6.28Al0.24La3Zr2O12 (Al-LLZO) is prepared by solution-casting method. Significant improvement in Li+ conductivity for Al-LLZO containing GCPEM is observed compared with the Al-LLZO free polymer membrane. Maximized room temperature (30 °C) Li+ conductivity of 4.40?×?10?4 S cm?1 and wide electrochemical window (4.5 V) is observed for PEO8/LiClO4?+?20 wt% Al-LLZO (GCPEM-20) membrane. The fabricated cell with LiCoO2 as cathode, metallic lithium as anode and GCPEM-20 as electrolyte membrane delivers an initial charge/discharge capacity of 146 mAh g?1/142 mAh g?1 at 25 °C with 0.06 C-rate.  相似文献

Sulfide electrolytes with high ionic conductivity hold great promise for all-solid-state lithium batteries. However, the parasitic redox reactions between sulfide electrolyte and Li metal result in interfacial instability and rapid decline of the battery performance. Herein, a redox-resistible Li6PS5Cl (LPSC) electrolyte is created by regulating the electron distribution in LPSC with Mg and F incorporation. The introduction of Mg triggers the electron agglomeration around S atom, inhibiting the electron acceptance from Li, and F generates the self-limiting interface, which hinders the redox reactions between LPSC and Li metal. This redox-resistible Li6PS5Cl-MgF2 electrolyte therefore presents a high critical current density (2.3 times that of pristine electrolyte). The LiCoO2/Li6PS5Cl-MgF2/Li cell shows an outstanding cycling stability (93.3 %@100 cycles at 0.2 C). This study highlights the electronic structure modulation to address redox issues on sulfide-based lithium batteries.  相似文献

The polymer-ceramic composite electrolytes have great application potential for next-generation solid state lithium batteries, as they have the merits to eliminate the problem of liquid organic electrolytes and enhancing chemical/electrochemical stability. However, polymer-ceramic composite electrolytes show poor ionic conductivity, which greatly hinders their practical applications. In this work, the addition of plasticizer ethylene carbonate (EC) into polymer-ceramic composite electrolyte for lithium batteries effectively promotes the ionic conductivity. A high ionic conductivity can be attained by adding 40 wt% EC to the polyethylene oxide (PEO)/polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)-Li7La3Zr2O12 (LLZO) based polymer-ceramic composite electrolytes, which is 2.64 × 10−4 S cm−1 (tested at room temperature). Furthermore, the cell assembled with lithium metal anode, this composite electrolyte, and LiFePO4 cathode can work more than 80 cycles at room temperature (tested at 0.2 C). The battery delivers a high reversible specific capacity after 89 cycles, which is 119 mAh g−1.  相似文献

Highly conductive solid electrolytes are crucial to the development of efficient all‐solid‐state batteries. Meanwhile, the ion conductivities of lithium solid electrolytes match those of liquid electrolytes used in commercial Li+ ion batteries. However, concerns about the future availability and the price of lithium made Na+ ion conductors come into the spotlight in recent years. Here we present the superionic conductor Na11Sn2PS12, which possesses a room temperature Na+ conductivity close to 4 mS cm?1, thus the highest value known to date for sulfide‐based solids. Structure determination based on synchrotron X‐ray powder diffraction data proves the existence of Na+ vacancies. As confirmed by bond valence site energy calculations, the vacancies interconnect ion migration pathways in a 3D manner, hence enabling high Na+ conductivity. The results indicate that sodium electrolytes are about to equal the performance of their lithium counterparts.  相似文献

Solid-state lithium-metal batteries are considered as the next generation of high-energy-density batteries. However, their solid electrolytes suffer from low ionic conductivity, poor interface performance, and high production costs, restricting their commercial application. Herein, a low-cost cellulose acetate-based quasi-solid composite polymer electrolyte (C-CLA QPE) was developed with a high Li+ transference number ( ) of 0.85 and excellent interface stability. The prepared LiFePO4 (LFP)|C-CLA QPE|Li batteries exhibited excellent cycle performance with a capacity retention of 97.7 % after 1200 cycles at 1 C and 25 °C. The experimental results and Density Function Theory (DFT) simulation revealed that the partially esterified side groups in the CLA matrix contribute to the migration of Li+ and enhance electrochemical stability. This work provides a promising strategy for fabricating cost-effective, stable polymer electrolytes for solid-state lithium batteries.  相似文献

Crystalline structure of low- and high-temperature modifications of solid lithium-conducting electrolytes Li3.75Ge0.75V0.25O4 and Li3.70Ge0.85W0.15O4 are studied by powder neutron diffraction analysis with use made of Rietveld full-profile analysis. The structure of either composition is derivative from -Li3PO4. The high conductivity of the electrolytes is connected with the presence of interstitial lithium cations, whose positions are occupied but partially. Phase transitions in the electrolytes consist of the leveling of the occupation degrees of these positions and make practically no impact on the rigid cage of the lattice.  相似文献

Efficient and affordable synthesis of Li+ functional ceramics is crucial for the scalable production of solid electrolytes for batteries. Li-garnet Li7La3Zr2O12−d (LLZO), especially its cubic phase (cLLZO), attracts attention due to its high Li+ conductivity and wide electrochemical stability window. However, high sintering temperatures raise concerns about the cathode interface stability, production costs, and energy consumption for scalable manufacture. We show an alternative “sinter-free” route to stabilize cLLZO as films at half of its sinter temperature. Specifically, we establish a time-temperature-transformation (TTT) diagram which captures the amorphous-to-crystalline LLZO transformation based on crystallization enthalpy analysis and confirm stabilization of thin-film cLLZO at record low temperatures of 500 °C. Our findings pave the way for low-temperature processing via TTT diagrams, which can be used for battery cell design targeting reduced carbon footprints in manufacturing.  相似文献

All-solid-state rechargeable lithium-ion batteries (AS-LIBs) are attractive power sources for electrochemical applications due to their potentiality in improving safety and stability over conventional batteries with liquid electrolytes. Finding a solid electrolyte with high ionic conductivity and compatibility with other battery components is a key factor in raising the performance of AS-LIBs. In this work, we prepare argyrodite-type Li6PS5X (X = Cl, Br, I) using mechanical milling followed by annealing. X-ray diffraction characterization reveals the formation and growth of crystalline Li6PS5X in all cases. Ionic conductivity of the order of 7?×?10?4 S cm?1 in Li6PS5Cl and Li6PS5Br renders these phases suitable for AS-LIBs. Joint structure refinements using high-resolution neutron and laboratory X-ray diffraction provide insight into the influence of disorder on the fast ionic conductivity. Besides the disorder in the lithium distribution, it is the disorder in the S2?/Cl? or S2?/Br? distribution that we find to promote ion mobility, whereas the large I? cannot be exchanged for S2? and the resulting more ordered Li6PS5I exhibits only a moderate conductivity. Li+ ion migration pathways in the crystalline compounds are modelled using the bond valence approach to interpret the differences between argyrodites containing different halide ions.  相似文献

Integrating the advantages of both inorganic ceramic and organic polymer solid-state electrolytes, small-molecule solid-state electrolytes represented by LiI-3-hydroxypropionitrile (LiI-HPN) inorganic–organic hybrid systems possess good interfacial compatibility and high modulus. However, their lack of intrinsic Li+ conduction ability hinders potential application in lithium metal batteries until now, despite containing LiI phase composition. Herein, inspired by evolution tendency of ionic conduction behaviors together with first-principles molecular dynamics simulations, we propose a stepped-amorphization strategy to break the Li+ conduction bottleneck of LiI-HPN. It involves three progressive steps of composition (LiI-content increasing), time (long-time standing), and temperature (high-temperature melting) regulations, to essentially construct a small-molecule-based composite solid-state electrolyte with intensified amorphous degree, which realizes efficient conversion from an I to Li+ conductor and improved conductivity. As a proof, the stepped-optimized LiI-HPN is successfully operated in lithium metal batteries cooperated with Li4Ti5O12 cathode to deliver considerable compatibility and stability over 250 cycles. This work not only clarifies the ionic conduction mechanisms of LiI-HPN inorganic–organic hybrid systems, but also provides a reasonable strategy to broaden the application scenarios of highly compatible small-molecule solid-state electrolytes.  相似文献

Lithium metal is used to achieve high‐energy‐density batteries due to its large theoretical capacity and low negative electrochemical potential. The introduction of quasi‐solid electrolytes simultaneously overcomes the safety problems induced by the liquid electrolytes and the high interfacial resistance issues confronted by all solid‐state electrolytes. In‐depth investigations involving interfacial behaviors in quasi‐solid lithium metal batteries are inadequate. Herein an ultrathin Li3OCl quasi‐solid‐state electrolyte layer (500 nm thickness) is used to cover a lithium anode. The polarization of the anode is remarkably reduced by introducing the Li3OCl quasi‐solid‐state electrolyte. In contrast to the decomposition of solvents in a standard electrolyte (EC‐DEC,1.0 m LiPF6), the established quasi‐solid‐state electrolyte interfaces can significantly inhibit the decomposition of solvents when the cut‐off voltage is 4.5 V.  相似文献

To promote the development of solid‐state batteries, polymer‐, oxide‐, and sulfide‐based solid‐state electrolytes (SSEs) have been extensively investigated. However, the disadvantages of these SSEs, such as high‐temperature sintering of oxides, air instability of sulfides, and narrow electrochemical windows of polymers electrolytes, significantly hinder their practical application. Therefore, developing SSEs that have a high ionic conductivity (>10?3 S cm?1), good air stability, wide electrochemical window, excellent electrode interface stability, low‐cost mass production is required. Herein we report a halide Li+ superionic conductor, Li3InCl6, that can be synthesized in water. Most importantly, the as‐synthesized Li3InCl6 shows a high ionic conductivity of 2.04×10?3 S cm?1 at 25 °C. Furthermore, the ionic conductivity can be recovered after dissolution in water. Combined with a LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 cathode, the solid‐state Li battery shows good cycling stability.  相似文献

Developing high‐performance all‐solid‐state batteries is contingent on finding solid electrolyte materials with high ionic conductivity and ductility. Here we report new halide‐rich solid solution phases in the argyrodite Li6PS5Cl family, Li6?xPS5?xCl1+x, and combine electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, neutron diffraction, and 7Li NMR MAS and PFG spectroscopy to show that increasing the Cl?/S2? ratio has a systematic, and remarkable impact on Li‐ion diffusivity in the lattice. The phase at the limit of the solid solution regime, Li5.5PS4.5Cl1.5, exhibits a cold‐pressed conductivity of 9.4±0.1 mS cm?1 at 298 K (and 12.0±0.2 mS cm?1 on sintering)—almost four‐fold greater than Li6PS5Cl under identical processing conditions and comparable to metastable superionic Li7P3S11. Weakened interactions between the mobile Li‐ions and surrounding framework anions incurred by substitution of divalent S2? for monovalent Cl? play a major role in enhancing Li+‐ion diffusivity, along with increased site disorder and a higher lithium vacancy population.  相似文献
