The results of Kasparov, Connes, Higson, and Loring imply the coincidence of the functors [[qℂ ⊗ K, BK]] = [[C 0(ℝ2) ⊗ K, BK]] for any C*-algebra B; here[[A, B]] denotes the set of homotopy classes of asymptotic homomorphisms from A to B. Inthe paper, this assertion is strengthened; namely, it is shown that the algebras qℂ ⊗ K and C 0(ℝ2) ⊗ K are equivalent in the category whose objects are C*-algebras and morphisms are classes of homotopic asymptotic homomorphisms. Some geometric properties of the obtained equivalence are studied. Namely, the algebras qℂ ⊗ K and C 0(ℝ2) ⊗ K are represented as fields of C*-algebras; it is proved that the equivalence is not fiber-preserving, i.e., is does not take fibers to fibers. It is also proved that the algebras under consideration are not homotopy equivalent.__________Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, vol. 77, no. 5, 2005, pp. 788–796.Original Russian Text Copyright ©2005 by T. A new series representation of the exact distribution of Hotelling's generalized T02 statistic is obtained. Unlike earlier work, the series representation given here is everywhere convergent. Explicit formulae are given for both the null and the non-central distributions. Earlier results by [1], 215–225), which are convergent on the interval [0, 1), are also derived quite simply from our formulae. The paper therefore provides a solution to the long standing problem of the exact distribution of the T02 statistic in the general case.  相似文献

The estimation of the location parameter of an ℓ1-symmetric distribution is considered. Specifically when a p-dimensional random vector has a distribution that is a mixture of uniform distributions on the ℓ1-sphere, we investigate a general class of estimators of the form δ=X+g. Under the usual quadratic loss, domination of δ over X is obtained through the partial differential inequality 4 div g+2X2g+ g20 and a new superharmonicity-type-like notion adapted to the ℓ1-context. Specifically the condition of ℓ1-superharmonicity is that 2Δf+X 3f0 and div 3f0 as compared to the usual (ℓ2) condition Δf0.  相似文献

Summability of spherical h-harmonic expansions with respect to the weight function ∏j=1d |xj|jj0) on the unit sphere Sd−1 is studied. The main result characterizes the critical index of summability of the Cesàro (C,δ) means of the h-harmonic expansion; it is proved that the (C,δ) means of any continuous function converge uniformly in the norm of C(Sd−1) if and only if δ>(d−2)/2+∑j=1d κj−min1jd κj. Moreover, it is shown that for each point not on the great circles defined by the intersection of the coordinate planes and Sd−1, the (C,δ) means of the h-harmonic expansion of a continuous function f converges pointwisely to f if δ>(d−2)/2. Similar results are established for the orthogonal expansions with respect to the weight functions ∏j=1d |xj|j(1−|x|2)μ−1/2 on the unit ball Bd and ∏j=1d xjκj−1/2(1−|x|1)μ−1/2 on the simplex Td. As a related result, the Cesàro summability of the generalized Gegenbauer expansions associated to the weight function |t|(1−t2)λ−1/2 on [−1,1] is studied, which is of interest in itself.  相似文献

A Variation of an Extremal Theorem Due to Woodall   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We consider a variation of an extremal theorem due to Woodall [12, or 1, Chapter 3] as follows: Determine the smallest even integer (3C1,n), such that every n-term graphic sequence = (d1, d2,..., dn) with term sum () = d1 + d2 + ... + dn (3C1,n) has a realization G containing a cycle of length r for each r = 3,4,...,l. In this paper, the values of (3Cl,n) are determined for l = 2m – 1,n 3m – 4 and for l = 2m,n 5m – 7, where m 4.AMS Mathematics subject classification (1991) 05C35Project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Grant No. 19971086) and the Doctoral Program Foundation of National Education Department of China  相似文献

We are concerned here with certain Banach algebras of operators contained within a fixed II factor N. These algebras may be thought of as noncommutative classifying spaces for the functor Ext * N The basic objects of study are the algebras A kN (for n=1, 2,...). Here, we are given an essentially unique representation of the complex Clifford algebra C k N and the elements of A k are those operators in N which exactly commute with the first k–1 generators of C k and also commute with the kth generator modulo a symmetric ideal N. Up to isomorphism, these algebras are periodic with period 2.We determine completely the homotopy types of A 1 –1 and A 2 –1 Here, A 1 –1 is homotopy equivalent to the space of (Breuer) Fredholm operators in N, while A 2 –1 is homotopy equivalent to the group K N –1 ={x N–1¦ x=1+k, k KN}. We use these results to compute the K-theory of A 1 and A 2.For a fixed C *-algebra A, we define abelian groups G k,N(A) of equivalence classes of homomorphisms AA k. Letting N = M (H) for a II1 factor M we define similar abelian groups G k(A, M) where we replace N by L(E) for countably generated right Hilbert M-modules E with (left) actions C k L(E). Using ideas of Skandalis, we show that G k,NGk(A, M) so that the G k,N are stable half-exact homotopy functors because the G k(·, M) are such.In general, we show that G k(A, M)KK k(A, M) and so our theory fits neatly into Kasparov KK-theory. We investigate many interesting examples from our point of view.  相似文献

Trimmed best k-nets were introduced in J. A. Cuesta-Albertos, A. Gordaliza and C. Matrán (1998, Statist. Probab. Lett.36, 401–413) as a robustified L-based quantization procedure. This paper focuses on the asymptotics of this procedure. Also, some possible applications are briefly sketched to motivate the interest of this technique. Consistency and weak limit law are obtained in the multivariate setting. Consistency holds for absolutely continuous distributions without the (artificial) requirement of a trimming level varying with the sample size as in J. A. Cuesta-Albertos, A. Gordaliza and C. Matrán (1998, Statist. Probab. Lett.36, 401–413). The weak convergence will be stated toward a non-normal limit law at a OP(n−1/3) rate of convergence. An algorithm for computing trimmed best k-nets is proposed. Also a procedure is given in order to choose an appropriate number of centers, k, for a given data set.  相似文献

Much of General Topology addresses this issue: Given a function fC(Y,Z) with YY and ZZ, find , or at least , such that ; sometimes Z=Z is demanded. In this spirit the authors prove several quite general theorems in the context Y=(XI)κ=∏iIXi in the κ-box topology (that is, with basic open sets of the form ∏iIUi with Ui open in Xi and with UiXi for <κ-many iI). A representative sample result, extending to the κ-box topology some results of Comfort and Negrepontis, of Noble and Ulmer, and of Hušek, is this. Theorem Let ωκα (that means: κ<α, and [β<α and λ<κ]βλ<α) with α regular, be a set of non-empty spaces with each d(Xi)<α, π[Y]=XJ for each non-empty JI such that |J|<α, and the diagonal in Z be the intersection of <α-many regular-closed subsets of Z×Z. Then (a) Y is pseudo-(α,α)-compact, (b) for every fC(Y,Z) there is J[I]<α such that f(x)=f(y) whenever xJ=yJ, and (c) every such f extends to .  相似文献

We show that every contractive C 0-semigroup on a separable, infinite-dimensional Hilbert space X can be approximated by unitary C 0-groups in the weak operator topology uniformly on compact subsets of ℝ+. As a consequence we get a new characterization of a bounded H -calculus for the negatives of generators of bounded holomorphic semigroups. Applications of our results to the study of a topological structure of the set of (almost) weakly stable contractive C 0-semigroups on X are also discussed. Assume that X is a left Banach module over a unital C*-algebra A. It is shown that almost every n-sesquilinear-quadratic mapping h:X×X×XnA is an n-sesquilinear-quadratic mapping when holds for all x,y,z1,…,znX.Moreover, we prove the generalized Hyers–Ulam–Rassias stability of an n-sesquilinear-quadratic mapping on a left Banach module over a unital C*-algebra.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the spaces B pq s (G) and L pq s (G) of functions f with positive exponent of smoothness s > 0 given on a domain . The norms on these spaces are defined via integral norms of the difference of the function f of order m > s treated as a function of the point of the domain and of the difference increment. For an arbitrary domain , we characterize these spaces in terms of the local approximations of the function by polynomials of degree m – 1.  相似文献

Let be the uniform triangulation generated by the usual three directional mesh of the plane and let H 1 be the regular hexagon formed by the six triangles of surrounding the origin. We study the space of piecewise polynomial functions in C k (R 2) with support H 1 having a sufficiently high degree n, which are invariant with respect to the group of symmetries of H 1 and whose sum of integer translates is constant. Such splines are called H 1-splines. We first compute the dimension of this space in function of n and k. Then we prove the existence of a unique H 1-spline of minimal degree for any fixed k0. Finally, we describe an algorithm computing the Bernstein–Bézier coefficients of this spline.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss properties of the ω,q-Bernstein polynomials introduced by S. Lewanowicz and P. Woźny in [S. Lewanowicz, P. Woźny, Generalized Bernstein polynomials, BIT 44 (1) (2004) 63–78], where fC[0,1], ω,q>0, ω≠1,q−1,…,qn+1. When ω=0, we recover the q-Bernstein polynomials introduced by [G.M. Phillips, Bernstein polynomials based on the q-integers, Ann. Numer. Math. 4 (1997) 511–518]; when q=1, we recover the classical Bernstein polynomials. We compute the second moment of , and demonstrate that if f is convex and ω,q(0,1) or (1,∞), then are monotonically decreasing in n for all x[0,1]. We prove that for ω(0,1), qn(0,1], the sequence converges to f uniformly on [0,1] for each fC[0,1] if and only if limn→∞qn=1. For fixed ω,q(0,1), we prove that the sequence converges for each fC[0,1] and obtain the estimates for the rate of convergence of by the modulus of continuity of f, and the estimates are sharp in the sense of order for Lipschitz continuous functions.  相似文献

In this paper, we will discuss some properties of the (n, m)-spherical functions on the Lie groupG = SL(2,ℝ), and obtain the decomposition off inC c 4 (G) into these functions. Also we give the Fourier inversion formula for the (n, m)-spherical functions inC c 3 (G).  相似文献

Lα (0 α 1) is a class of infinitely divisible distributions defined by restricting the measure in the Levy-Khinchin formula to a special form. When α = 1, Lα is just the classical class L. Several properties for Lα classes, which are similar to the most important properties for the class L, are established. Also, a conjecture of Wolfe about unimodality of some Lα distributions is disproved by giving a counterexample.  相似文献

In an attempt to find a q-analogue of Weber and Schafheitlin's integral 0 x J (ax) J (bx) dx which is discontinuous on the diagonal a = b the integral 0 x J (2) (a(1 – q)x; q)J (1) (b(1 – q)x; q) dx is evaluated where J (1) (x; q) and J (2) (x; q) are two of Jackson's three q-Bessel functions. It is found that the question of discontinuity becomes irrelevant in this case. Evaluations of this integral are also made in some interesting special cases. A biorthogonality formula is found as well as a Neumann series expansion for x in terms of J (2) +1+2n ((1 – q)x; q). Finally, a q-Lommel function is introduced.  相似文献
