以Ar+激光器为光源, 采用虎红、 N-苯基甘氨酸、二季戊四醇羟基五丙烯酸酯和乙烯基吡咯烷酮分别作为光引发剂、共引发剂、预聚物和稀释剂, 与液晶材料TEB30A结合, 通过光聚合反应, 制备了聚合物分散液晶(PDLC), 用紫外光谱和荧光光谱对其反应机理进行了分析. 实验结果表明, PDLC是通过光引发剂吸收光子能量后与共引发剂相互作用, 形成自由基中间体并引发聚合反应, 使预聚物与液晶产生相分离形成的.  相似文献

在高于和低于玻璃化转变温度 (Tg)的温度范围内 ,研究了聚甲基丙烯酸 ( 6 [4 ( 4 氰基偶氮苯 )苯氧基 ]己酯 ) (Poly( 6 [4 ( 4 cyanophenylazo)phenoxy]hexylmethacrylate) (PM6ABCN) )聚合物膜的光致取向行为 .实验结果表明 ,在温度低于Tg 时 ,实验温度对取向速率没有影响 ;高于Tg 温度时 ,取向的速率随温度升高而变大 ,取向过程的表观活化能为 3 2 76kJ mol.通过对Tg 温度以下的光致取向进行分析 ,对光致取向过程提出了一个新的微相模型 ,微相内的温度能够达到Tg 以上 ,而实验中控制的样品宏观温度不变 ;高于Tg 温度时的光致取向过程受到宏观温度的控制 ,其表观活化能远远小于热致的各向同性相I(Isotropicphase,I)到向列相N(Nematicphase,N)相转变表观活化能 ( 3 40 2kJ mol) ,表明光致取向过程对温度的依赖性较小  相似文献

采用光-示差扫描量热法(P-DSC)和光-流变学(P-Rheology)技术,测定了丙烯酸酯/液晶体系的光聚合反应动力学和凝胶化时间.基于自催化模型和凝胶时间-温度关系,计算了体系的光聚合反应速率常数和活化能,探讨了单体结构与组成、反应温度对体系光聚合动力学的影响,并研究了聚合物分散液晶(PDLC)的电光响应行为与相分离结构对光聚合动力学的依赖性.结果表明,升高反应温度、增加体系的单体反应活性和平均官能度,均提高了体系的光聚合速率常数,缩短了光聚合凝胶时间.随着单体反应活性和平均官能度的提高,体系的光聚合反应活化能明显降低,且凝胶化前的光聚合反应活化能低于光聚合全过程的平均反应活化能.当液晶含量为50%时,形成的PDLC呈亚微米尺度的双连续相结构.随着光聚合反应温度的升高,光聚合速率加快,导致凝胶时间缩短、相分离程度降低,使PDLC中液晶相尺寸变小、聚合物网络致密化,PDLC的弛豫时间延长、饱和电压降低,而开启时间和阈值电压变化不大.  相似文献

合成了聚甲基丙烯酸 (6 [4 (4 氰基偶氮苯 )苯氧基 ]己酯 ) (Poly(6 [4 (4 cyanophenylazo)phenoxy]hexylmethacrylate) (PM6ABCN) ) ,采用溶液挥发法在玻璃载片上成膜 ,研究了薄膜样品在Tg 温度以下的光致取向 .用波长分别为 36 6、40 0和 436nm的偏振光照射 ,发现PM6ABCN薄膜的光致取向过程不仅依赖于光的强度 ,还依赖所使用的偏振光的波长 .在低于Tg 的温度下 ,用波长为 40 0nm ,功率为 2 0mW cm2 的光照射 10 0s可以使样品的取向达到饱和 ,而用 36 6nm的光导致的取向程度要小于 40 0nm和 436nm的光 ,因为 36 6nm的光会在稳态时产生更多数目的cis异构体  相似文献

偶氮液晶是一类分子中含有偶氮苯结构的液晶,其偶氮基团在光照射下,能发生可逆的顺反异构反应。由于偶氮苯的顺式结构不能形成稳定的液晶相,因此,偶氮液晶在具有向列液晶温敏性质的同时,也具有特有的光敏性质,其相变与分子取向能够通过光照进行控制。这种特性使得偶氮液晶在光学功能材料方面具有广泛的应用。本文介绍了偶氮液晶的基本特性,结合作者自身的研究工作阐述了其在光学材料应用方面的研究进展。  相似文献

以天然高分子木质素为原料,通过亲核取代反应将木质素改性成为大分子引发剂,引发偶氮苯单体的原子转移自由基聚合(ATRP),得到一系列木质素基光响应聚合物.接枝后的木质素的热稳定性明显改善,且平均接枝率达到72.8%时才能表现出液晶行为.小角X射线散射和偏光显微镜的结果表明所形成的液晶相为近晶C型,层间距为3.21nm.在此基础上,用紫外-可见吸收光谱(UV-Vis)对木质素基液晶聚合物的光响应性进行研究,发现溶液中的光响应性比膜状态的光响应速率快.在紫外光的辐照下,木质素基液晶聚合物表现出快速的光致液晶-各向同性相变行为.  相似文献

将稳定的四甲基咪唑啉氮氧自由基嫁接到新型的光致变色化合物双(6-甲基-3-乙基-3-羟基-1-氧代-2-亚茚满基) (1)的分子母体中, 成功合成了新型多功能化合物1-((6'-甲基-3,3'-二乙基-3,3'-二羟基-1,1'-二氧代-[2,2']-联亚茚满基)-6-基甲基)-4-(4",4",5",5"-四甲基咪唑啉-2"-基)吡啶溴化物 3"-氧化物 1"-氧基(3). 对化合物3的光致变色性质, ESR波谱以及磁性质进行了研究. 化合物3光照后颜色发生变化, ESR信号表现出久期增宽. 变温磁化率的测试结果显示, 化合物3光照后反铁磁相互作用进一步增强. 研究结果表明化合物3的颜色和磁性的变化均可用光照进行调控.  相似文献

A photoinduced phase transition and helix untwisting in a new liquid crystal forming the SmC* phase were studied in detail. The compound consists of a cinnamoyl photosensitive fragment with C?=?C double bond capable of photoisomerisation and photocycloaddition. It was shown that ultraviolet (UV) irradiation (365 nm) induces an extreme decrease in phase transitions temperatures (SmC*–SmA*, SmA*–N*, N*–I). Vertically aligned samples in the SmC* phase cause selective light reflection in the visible spectral range. The light action results in a noticeable helix untwisting that causes a shift in the selective light reflection peak to the long-wavelength spectral region. The temperature dependence of spontaneous polarisation P s was measured and it was found that UV irradiation induces a decrease in the values of P s. Photo-optical phenomena taking place in the liquid crystal are attributed to the formation of photoproducts having low anisometry, which disrupts mesophases.  相似文献

Polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films (5CB/PMMA, 60/40) of different droplet size were prepared by a solvent-induced phase separation method under different N2 flow speeds. The effects of droplet size on the thermal transitions of the LC and various dielectric properties such as dielectric constant, conductance, dielectric loss, and the electric field induced in a droplet were examined. The configuration of the LC in the film with smaller droplets can be identified by comparing the dielectric constant of the film with the one predicted by Boettcher's mixture formula. In addition, the effect of droplet size on the electro-optical response of the PDLC film was investigated. Variations of the conductance and the dielectric constant of the film were analyzed under various AC frequencies, with the purpose of elucidating the polarization mechanism of the LC molecules in the droplet. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films are fabricated by well-known polymerization-induced phase separation method. In this paper, the dispersion of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) in liquid crystals has been enhanced by chemical modification and we have investigated their effects on the morphology, electro-optical properties and conductivity of the PDLC films. Results indicated that the threshold voltage and the saturation voltage of PDLC films decreased with the increase of the doping concentration of MWCNT or chemically modified MWCNT, because carbon nanotubes can enhance the electric field by reducing the resistivity of the medium and increasing the capacitance of the cells. It can be viewed obviously that the contrast ratio of the PDLC films doped with the chemically modified MWCNT is higher than that of the MWCNT.  相似文献

A polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) film that has good electro-optical properties is produced by the method of polymerized-induced phase separation. Based on the application foreground, its capability parameters, such as contrast ratio, work voltage, and visual angle, are characterized for the first time by a white light but not a fixed wavelength light. The results show the PDLC film has a low work-voltage of 20 V, more than 150° visual angle, high stability, and long lifetime. The differences between plastic and glass ITO-coated substrates of PDLC films are also studied in this paper. The plastic substrate has better property and will have a wider perspective especially in the portable, tender and folded display devices. Due to adjustable properties of film by electric field, PDLC has the potential application for display device, sensor, switch, grating, and new generation analytical apparatus.  相似文献

A number of polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films based on dimethacrylate monomers were synthesised by polymer-induced phase separation (PIPS) using polyethylene glycol p-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)-phenyl ether (TX-100) as an additive up to total solution weight of 10% aiming to modify the initial anchorage force of the liquid crystal (LC) molecules to the polymeric matrix. The effects of the addition of this additive to the PDLC films were studied resorting to electro-optical studies. Using a fitting model, several parameters were correlated such as the permanent memory effect (PME), the voltage required to achieve 90% of maximum transmittance (E90), the average elastic constant (K) and the rotational viscosity of the director (γ). The use of TX-100 results on an increase on the PME and γ, and decrease on the E90 and K.  相似文献

Phototropic liquid crystals (PtLC) comprising one component are a new class of liquid crystals (LC) which due to the phenomenon of photochemical phase transition are of special interest, especially in view of their potential applications in photonic devices. So far, however, only a little attention has been paid to these materials. In this paper, we discuss holographic recording in chiral and linear single-component PtLCs from the family of 4-alkyl-4?-alkoxyazobenzene and we develop the one-dimensional mathematical model describing the formation of the diffraction grating. The grating formation process and its dynamics, resulting from the photoinduced isotropic-to-nematic phase transition, have been described by the mechanism that assumes the formation and growth of the liquid-crystalline domains of different sizes induced by the sinusoidally modulated Gaussian light intensity distribution. We show that the model is based on one parameter, that is the incubation time which can be easily obtained experimentally and which can be used for the fitting of the experimental data. Reporting new PtLCs materials and the model that describes the processes of holographic recording in these types of materials can be useful in the design of new phototropic LC materials and for optimisation of the experimental conditions.  相似文献

Three novel techniques of polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) film preparation have been proposed to obtain/induce systematically varying manifold properties in a single device. These three techniques were used to prepare ‘wedge-shaped’, ‘multi-channelled’ and ‘grating type’ PDLC films. Arrangement and configuration of liquid crystal (LC) microstructures inside these PDLC films, which were conveniently divided into different zones, have been investigated using a polarising optical microscope (POM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). POM images indicate a predominant bipolar structure in all zones of different types of PDLC films but with varying size and density. Further, the electro-optical (EO) properties of PDLC films for different zones have different morphological characteristics as indicated (observed) in POM and SEM images and were dependent on LC droplet shape, size and distribution. Also different zones show different absorbance/transmittance characteristics in the visible range. Thus, our study proposes a single device with manifold properties. Also, the desired properties can be obtained by selecting the suitable zone from the PDLC composite film.  相似文献
