The purpose of this paper is to study the L 2 boundedness of operators of the form fψ(x) ∫ f (γ t (x))K(t)dt, where γ t (x) is a C function defined on a neighborhood of the origin in (t, x) ∈ ℝ N × ℝ n , satisfying γ 0(x) ≡ x, ψ is a C cut-off function supported on a small neighborhood of 0 ∈ ℝ n , and K is a “multi-parameter singular kernel” supported on a small neighborhood of 0 ∈ ℝ N . The goal is, given an appropriate class of kernels K, to give conditions on γ such that every operator of the above form is bounded on L 2. The case when K is a Calderón-Zygmund kernel was studied by Christ, Nagel, Stein, and Wainger; we generalize their conditions to the case when K has a “multi-parameter” structure. For example, when K is given by a “product kernel.” Even when K is a Calderón- Zygmund kernel, our methods yield some new results. This is the first paper in a three part series, the later two of which are joint with E. M. Stein. The second paper deals with the related question of L p boundedness, while the third paper deals with the special case when γ is real analytic.  相似文献

The Hilbert and Riesz transforms can be characterized up to scalar as the translation invariant operators that satisfy additionally certain relative invariance of conformal transformation groups. In this article, we initiate a systematic study of translation invariant operators from group theoretic viewpoints, and formalize a geometric condition that characterizes specific multiplier operators uniquely up to scalar by means of relative invariance of affine subgroups. After providing some interesting examples of multiplier operators having “large symmetry”, we classify which of these examples can be extended to continuous operators on L p (R n ) (1 < p < ∞). T. In this work we generalize the case of scalar curvature zero the results of Simmons (Ann. Math. 88 (1968), 62–105) for minimal cones in Rn+1. If Mn−1 is a compact hypersurface of the sphere Sn(1) we represent by C(M)ε the truncated cone based on M with center at the origin. It is easy to see that M has zero scalar curvature if and only if the cone base on M also has zero scalar curvature. Hounie and Leite (J. Differential Geom. 41 (1995), 247–258) recently gave the conditions for the ellipticity of the partial differential equation of the scalar curvature. To show that, we have to assume n ⩾ 4 and the three-curvature of M to be different from zero. For such cones, we prove that, for nslant 7 there is an ε for which the truncate cone C(M)ε is not stable. We also show that for n ⩾ 8 there exist compact, orientable hypersurfaces Mn−1 of the sphere with zero scalar curvature and S3 different from zero, for which all truncated cones based on M are stable. We consider the construction of of an inversive congruential generator over a Galois ring of odd dimension p l , whichwas proposed by Solé and Zinoviev for p = 2. Using the estimates of trigonometric sums on the sequences of pseudorandom numbers, we obtain the estimates of a discrepant function, a generated sequence of pseudorandom numbers, and the associated sequence of two-dimensional “overlapping” points.  相似文献

An L(h, 1, 1)-labeling of a graph is an assignment of labels from the set of integers {0, . . . , λ} to the nodes of the graph such that adjacent nodes are assigned integers of at least distance h ≥ 1 apart and all nodes of distance three or less must be assigned different labels. The aim of the L(h, 1, 1)-labeling problem is to minimize λ, denoted by λ h, 1, 1 and called span of the L(h, 1, 1)-labeling. As outerplanar graphs have bounded treewidth, the L(1, 1, 1)-labeling problem on outerplanar graphs can be exactly solved in O(n 3), but the multiplicative factor depends on the maximum degree Δ and is too big to be of practical use. In this paper we give a linear time approximation algorithm for computing the more general L(h, 1, 1)-labeling for outerplanar graphs that is within additive constants of the optimum values. We discuss how one can use certain filters from signal processing to describe isomorphisms between certain projective C(T n )-modules. Conversely, we show how cancellation properties for finitely generated projective modules over C(T n ) can often be used to prove the existence of continuous high pass filters, of the kind needed for multivariate wavelets, corresponding to a given continuous low-pass filter. However, we also give an example of a continuous low-pass filter for which it is impossible to find corresponding continuous high-pass filters. In this way we give another approach to the solution of the matrix completion problem for filters of the kind arising in wavelet theory.  相似文献

In this paper, we reformulate the Euler-Lagrange equations of Willmore surfaces in S^n as the flatness of a family of certain loop algebra-valued 1-forms. Therefore we can give the Weierstrass type representation of conformal Willmore surfaces. We also discuss the relations between conformal Willmore surfaces in S^n and minimal surfaces in constant curvature spaces S^n, R^n, H^n, and prove that some special Willmore surfaces can be derived from minimal surfaces in S^n, R^n, H^n.  相似文献

Let p be an odd prime number, and pn0{p^{n_0}} the highest power of p dividing 2 p−1 − 1. Let Kn=Q(zpn+1){K_n={\bf Q}(\zeta_{p^{n+1}})} and Ln,j=Kn+(z2j+2){L_{n,j}=K_n^+(\zeta_{2^{j+2}})} for j ≥ 0. Let hn*{h_n^*} be the relative class number of K n , and h n,j the class number of L n,j , respectively. Let n be an integer with nn 0. We prove that if the ratio hn*/hn-1*{h_n^*/h_{n-1}^*} is odd, then h n,j /h n−1,j is odd for any j ≥ 0.  相似文献

Explicit expressions for 4n + 2 primitive idempotents in the semi-simple group ring $R_{2p^{n}}\equiv \frac{GF(q)[x]}{p and q are distinct odd primes; n ≥ 1 is an integer and q has order \fracf(2pn)2{\frac{\phi(2p^{n})}{2}} modulo 2p n . The generator polynomials, the dimension, the minimum distance of the minimal cyclic codes of length 2p n generated by these 4n + 2 primitive idempotents are discussed. For n = 1, the properties of some (2p, p) cyclic codes, containing the above minimal cyclic codes are analyzed in particular. The minimum weight of some subset of each of these (2p, p) codes are observed to satisfy a square root bound.  相似文献

We discuss the analytic properties of curves γ whose global curvature function ρ G [γ]−1 is p-integrable. It turns out that the L p -norm is an appropriate model for a self-avoidance energy interpolating between “soft” knot energies in form of singular repulsive potentials and “hard” self-obstacles, such as a lower bound on the global radius of curvature introduced by Gonzalez and Maddocks. We show in particular that for all p > 1 finite -energy is necessary and sufficient for W 2,p -regularity and embeddedness of the curve. Moreover, compactness and lower-semicontinuity theorems lead to the existence of -minimizing curves in given isotopy classes. There are obvious extensions to other variational problems for curves and nonlinearly elastic rods, where one can introduce a bound on to preclude self-intersections.  相似文献

We study the periodic problem for differential inclusions in R~N.First we look for extremal periodicsolutions.Using techniques from multivalued analysis and a fixed point argument we establish an existencetheorem under some general hypotheses. We also consider the“nonconvex periodic problem”under lowersemicontinuity hypotheses, and the“convex periodic problem”under general upper semicontinuity hypotheseson the multivalued vector field. For both problems,we prove existence theorems under very general hypotheses. Our approach extends existing results in the literature and appear to be the most general results on the nonconvexperiodic problem.  相似文献

In this paper we study the Brill–Noether theory of invertible subsheaves of a general, stable rank-two vector bundle on a curve C with general moduli. We relate this theory to the geometry of unisecant curves on smooth, non-special scrolls with hyperplane sections isomorphic to C. Most of our results are based on degeneration techniques. We study the R-controllability (the controllability within the attainability set) and the R-observability of time-varying linear differential-algebraic equations (DAE). We analyze DAE under assumptions guaranteeing the existence of a structural form (which is called “equivalent”) with separated “differential” and “algebraic” subsystems. We prove that the existence of this form guarantees the solvability of the corresponding conjugate system, and construct the corresponding “equivalent form” for the conjugate DAE. We obtain conditions for the R-controllability and R-observability, in particular, in terms of controllability and observability matrices. We prove theorems that establish certain connections between these properties.  相似文献

For an n-dimensional spherical unit speed curve r and a given point P, we can define naturally the pedal curve of r relative to the pedal point P. When the dual curve germs are non-singular, singularity types of such pedal curves depend only on locations of pedal points. In this paper, we give a complete list of normal forms for singularities and locations of pedal points when the dual curve germs are non-singular. As an application of our list, we characterize C left equivalence classes of pedal curve germs (I, s 0) → S n produced by non-singular dual curve germ from the viewpoint of the relation between tangent space and tangent space.   相似文献

Let M be a compact manifold of dimension n, P=P(h) a semiclassical pseudodifferential operator on M, and u=u(h) an L 2 normalized family of functions such that P(h)u(h) is O(h) in L 2(M) as h↓0. Let HM be a compact submanifold of M. In a previous article, the second-named author proved estimates on the L p norms, p≥2, of u restricted to H, under the assumption that the u are semiclassically localized and under some natural structural assumptions about the principal symbol of P. These estimates are of the form Ch δ(n,k,p) where k=dim H (except for a logarithmic divergence in the case k=n−2, p=2). When H is a hypersurface, i.e., k=n−1, we have δ(n,n−1, 2)=1/4, which is sharp when M is the round n-sphere and H is an equator.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to generalize the results obtained by Winiarski (Ann. Polon. Math. 29:259–273, 1970) and Kasana and Kumar (Publ. Mat. 38:255–267, 1994) for the M 0(C) of all entire functions onto the class M m (C), m ≥ 0 of all meromorphic functions with exactly m poles on the complex plane C.  相似文献

We prove the double bubble conjecture in the three-sphereS 3 and hyperbolic three-spaceH 3 in the cases where we can apply Hutchings theory:
–  • InS 3, when each enclosed volume and the complement occupy at least 10% of the volume ofS 3.
–  • inH 3, when the smaller volume is at least 85% that of the larger.
A balancing argument and asymptotic analysis reduce the problem inS 3 andH 3 to some computer checking. The computer analysis has been designed and fully implemented for both spaces.  相似文献

A Latin squares of order v with ni missing sub-Latin squares (holes) of order hi (1 〈= i 〈 k), which are disjoint and spanning (i.e. ∑k i=l1 nihi = v), is called a partitioned incomplete Latin squares and denoted by PILS. The type of PILS is defined by (h1n1 h2n2…hknk ). If any two PILS inaset of t PILS of type T are orthogonal, then we denote the set by t-HMOLS(T). It has been proved that 3-HMOLS(2n31) exist for n ≥6 with 11 possible exceptions. In this paper, we investigate the existence of 3-HMOLS(2nu1) with u ≥ 4, and prove that 3-HMOLS(2~u1) exist if n ≥ 54 and n ≥7/4u + 7.  相似文献
