We discuss the thermal evolution of the spurion and messenger fields of ordinary gauge mediation models taking into account the Standard Model degrees of freedom. It is shown that for thermalized messengers the metastable susy breaking vacuum becomes thermally selected provided that the susy breaking sector is sufficiently weakly coupled to messengers or to any other observable field.  相似文献

Theories in which supersymmetry is broken on another brane, which is separated from the minimal supersymmetry standard model (MSSM) matter fields in an extra dimension, are attractive because they may solve the supersymmetric flavor problem. We consider the effects in such theories of new messenger fields with standard model gauge charges and with direct couplings to the supersymmetry breaking sector. The effect on the masses of the MSSM superpartners can be dramatic. In particular, the tachyonic slepton problem of anomaly mediation and the stable slepton problem of gaugino mediation can be cured.  相似文献

The possibility that supersymmetry (SUSY) could be broken in a metastable vacuum has recently attracted renewed interest. In these proceedings we will argue that metastability is an attractive and testable scenario. The recent developments were triggered by the presentation of a simple and calculable model of metastable SUSY breaking by Intriligator, Seiberg and Shih (ISS), which we will briefly review. One of the main questions raised by metastability is, why did the universe end up in this vacuum. Using the ISS model as an example we will argue that in a large class of models the universe is automatically driven into the metastable state during the early hot phase and gets trapped there. This makes metastability a natural option from the cosmological point of view. However, it may be more than that. The phenomenologically required gaugino masses require the breaking of R-symmetry. However, in scenarios with a low supersymmetry breaking scale, e.g., gauge mediation a powerful theorem due to Nelson and Seiberg places this at odds with supersymmetry breaking in a truely stable state and metstability becomes (nearly) inevitable. Turning around one can now experimentally test whether gauge mediation is realised in nature thereby automatically testing the possibility of a metastability of the vacuum. Indeed, already the LHC may give us crucial information about the stability of the vacuum.  相似文献

We review the various mechanisms of supersymmetry breaking and its transmission to the observable sector. We argue that hybrid models where gauge dominates over gravity mediation, but gravity provides the main contributions to the Higgs sector masses and the neutralino mass, are able to combine the advantages and reduce the disadvantages of the two transmission mechanisms.   相似文献

If the supersymmetry (SUSY) is a solution to the hierarchy problem, it is puzzling that any SUSY particle has not been discovered yet. We show that there is a low-scale conformal gauge mediation model which contains all necessary ingredients, i.e. not only a SUSY-breaking dynamics and a gauge mediation mechanism, but also a candidate for the dark matter. The model has only one free mass parameter, that is, the mass for messengers. In this model, the dark matter is provided by a composite particle in the SUSY-breaking sector, and the observed value of the dark matter density uniquely fixes the mass of messengers at the order of 102 TeV. Then, the sfermion and gaugino masses are fixed to be of order 102103 GeV102103 GeV without any arbitrariness, thus the SUSY particles are expected not to be discovered at the Tevatron or LEP, while having a discovery possibility at the LHC.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the possibility to have supersymmetry breaking with background modulus fields in four-dimensional product-group gauge theories. The vacuum expectation values of the modulus fields satisfy several relations, and their dependences of the action can be fixed by loop-level consistency of the model. We examine the mass spectrum of vector and matter multiplets up to one-loop order of perturbation theory. As an application, it is found that the properties of higher-dimensional supersymmetry breaking are well captured in the various limits in the moduli space. In particular, we have finite radiative corrections to the Higgs masses in the case that is shown to be equivalent to the boundary condition breaking of supersymmetry.Received: 6 June 2003, Published online: 2 October 2003N. SUSY CP problem in the gauge mediation supersymmetry breaking model is reconsidered. We pay particular attention to two sources of CP violating phases whose effects were not seriously studied before; one is the effect of the breaking of the GUT relation among the gaugino masses due to the field responsible for the GUT symmetry breaking, and the other is the supergravity effect on the supersymmetry breaking parameters, in particular, on the bi-linear supersymmetry breaking Higgs mass term. We show that both of them can induce too large electric dipole moments of electron, neutron, and so on, to be consistent with the experimental bounds.  相似文献

We argue that fields responsible for inflation and supersymmetry breaking are connected by gravitational couplings. In view of the recent progress in studying supersymmetry breaking in a metastable vacuum, we have shown that in models of supersymmetric hybrid inflation, where R-symmetry plays an important role, the scale of supersymmetry breaking is generated dynamically at the end of inflation and turns out to be consistent with gravity mediation.  相似文献

Mixed anomaly and gauge mediation (“gaugomaly” mediation) gives a natural solution to the SUSY flavor problem with a conventional LSP dark matter candidate. We present a minimal version of gaugomaly mediation where the messenger masses arise directly from anomaly mediation, automatically generating a messenger scale of order 50 TeV. We also describe a simple relaxation mechanism that gives rise to realistic μ and terms. B is naturally dominated by the anomaly-mediated contribution from top loops, so the μ- sector only depends on a single new parameter. In the minimal version of this scenario the full SUSY spectrum is determined by two continuous parameters (the anomaly-and gauge-mediated SUSY breaking masses) and one discrete parameter (the number of messengers). We show that these simple models can give realistic spectra with viable dark matter.  相似文献

Radiative corrections to the effective scalar potential are studied in no-scale supergravity models with local supersymmetry spontaneously broken by a gravitino mass. A simple proof is given that gauge non-singlet scalar fields acquire no supersymmetry breaking masses at the one-loop level, and a general argument is given extending this result to all orders of perturbation theory in the effective low-energy theory, proving also that no trilinear soft supersymmetry breaking terms in the effective potential are generated. These results are applicable to the four-dimensional no-scale supergravity theory obtained from the superstring after compactification, and support suggestions that the dominant source of global supersymmetry breaking in this theory may be the gaugino mass.  相似文献

Type-I string theory in the presence of internal magnetic fields provides a concrete realization of split supersymmetry. To lowest order, gauginos are massless while squarks and sleptons are superheavy. For weak magnetic fields, the correct Standard Model spectrum guarantees gauge coupling unification with sin2 ϑW=3/8 at the compactification scale of M GUT ⋍ 2 × 1016 GeV. I discuss mechanisms for generating gaugino and higgsino masses at the TeV scale, as well as generalizations to models with split extended supersymmetry in the gauge sector.  相似文献

We will show that the type 1 two Higgs doublet model can also be as the effective of supersymmetry in a specific case with high scale supersymmetry breaking and gauge mediation. If the other electroweak doublet obtain the vacuum expectation value after the electroweak symmetry breaking, the Higgs spectrum is quite different. An often-exploited feature of the operator product expansion (OPE) is that it incorporates a splitting of ultraviolet and infrared physics. In this paper we use this feature of the OPE to perform simple, approximate computations of soft masses in gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking. The approximation amounts to truncating the OPEs for hidden-sector current–current operator products. Our method yields visible-sector superpartner spectra in terms of vacuum expectation values of a few hidden-sector IR elementary fields. We manage to obtain reasonable approximations to soft masses, even when the hidden sector is strongly coupled. We demonstrate our techniques in several examples, including a new framework where supersymmetry breaking arises both from a hidden sector and dynamically. Our results suggest that strongly-coupled models of supersymmetry breaking are naturally split.  相似文献

A collider signal with a stable gravitino of O(10) eV mass at the International Linear Collider (ILC) experiment is investigated. Such a light gravitino is generally predicted in the low-scale gauge mediation scenario of the supersymmetry breaking. We particularly focus on the case that the next lightest supersymmetric particle is stau, which eventually decays into a gravitino and a τ-lepton. With such a small gravitino mass, the lifetime of the stau is 10−15-10−11 s, and the produced stau decays before reaching the first layer of the inner detector of the ILC. It is shown, however, that the lifetime can be determined from the distribution of the impact parameter, which is obtained by observing charged tracks caused by decay products of the τ-lepton. This measurement also enables us to estimate the mass of the gravitino and determine the scale of the supersymmetry breaking. Based on a simulation study, we found that the lifetime can be measured when it is longer than ∼10−14 s and the stau mass is about 100 GeV.  相似文献

Supersymmetric models based on the scenario of gauge mediation often suffer from the well-known μ problem. In this paper, we reconsider this problem in low-scale gauge mediation in terms of effective field theory analysis. In this paradigm, all high energy input soft mass can be expressed via loop expansions. If the corrections coming from messenger thresholds are small, as we assume in this letter, then all RG evaluations can be taken as linearly approximation for low-scale supersymmetric breaking. Due to these observations, the parameter space can be systematically classified and studied after constraints coming from electro-weak symmetry breaking are imposed. We find that some old proposals in the literature are reproduced, and two new classes are uncovered. We refer to a microscopic model, where the specific relations among coefficients in one of the new classes are well motivated. Also, we discuss some primary phenomenologies.  相似文献

The quantum worldsheet dynamics of vortex strings contains information about the 4d non-Abelian gauge theory in which the string lives. Here I tell this story. The string worldsheet theory is typically some variant of the CPN-1 sigma-model, describing the orientation of the string in a U(N) gauge group. Qualitative parallels between 2d sigma-models and 4d non-Abelian gauge theories have been known since the 1970s. The vortex string provides a quantitative link between the two. In 4d theories with N=2 supersymmetry, the exact BPS spectrum of the worldsheet coincides with the bulk spectrum in 4d. Moreover, by tuning parameters, the CPN-1 sigma-model can be coaxed to flow to an interacting conformal fixed point which is related to the 4d Argyres-Douglas fixed point. For theories with N=1 supersymmetry, the worldsheet theory suffers dynamical supersymmetry breaking and, more interestingly, supersymmetry restoration, in a way which captures the physics of Seiberg’s quantum deformed moduli space.  相似文献

The dynamical breaking of the supergauge symmetries in the massless supergauge Wess Zumino model isdiscussed without adding the Fayet-Iliopoulos term to the Lagrangian. It is shown, in terms of the Nambu-Jona-Lasiniomechanism, that the supersymmetry breaking and the gauge symmetry breaking can be realized dynamically. It is alsoshown that the dynamical breaking moves the vacuum expectation values of two scalar fields away from zero. In order torestore the symmetry of the vacuum, one of the two scalar fields is translated and at the same time the mass spectrumis changed too.  相似文献
