In this talk I discuss some aspects of CP violation (CPV) in supersymmetry (SUSY) as well as in the Higgs sector. Further, I discuss ways in which these may be probed at hadronic colliders. In particular I will point out the ways in which studies in the sector at the Tevatron may be used to provide information on this and how the search can be extended to the LHC. I will then follow this by a discussion of the CP mixing induced in the Higgs sector due to the above-mentioned CPV in the soft SUSY breaking parameters and its effects on the Higgs phenomenology at the LHC. I would then point out some interesting aspects of the phenomenology of a moderately light charged Higgs boson, consistent with the LEP constraints, in this scenario. Decay of such a charged Higgs boson would also allow a probe of a light (≲50 GeV), CP-violating (CPV) Higgs boson. Such a light neutral Higgs boson might have escaped detection at LEP and could also be missed at the LHC in the usual search channels.  相似文献

I briefly review a scenario where R-parity is explicitly broken through a term bilinear in the lepton and Higgs superfields in the superpotential. An immediate consequence of the presence of this term is the generation of a massive neutrino at the tree level. Constraints on the parameter space are discussed in the context of recent super-Kamiokande results on atmospheric neutrinos. The testability of such models is emphasized through the observation of comparable numbers of muons and taus, produced together with the H-boson, in decays of the lightest neutralino. Some other phenomenological implications of such a scenario are also discussed.  相似文献

The NdNi1−xCuxAl compounds were studied by means of heat-capacity, magnetization and AC-susceptibility measurements. The previously observed loss of long-range magnetic order in other RNi1−xCuxAl series with R=Tb, Dy, Er around x=0.6-0.8 that is accompanied by enhanced tendency to spin-glass character of behavior, is spread to wider concentration region of x=0.4-0.8 in the case of the newly studied Nd-based series, a candidate with rare-earth element coming from the light rare-earth group.  相似文献

We have studied RNiGe3 (R=Y, Ce-Nd, Sm, Gd-Lu) single crystals by measuring crystal structure and stoichiometry, magnetic susceptibility, magnetization, electrical resistivity, magnetoresistance, and specific heat. Clear anisotropies as well as antiferromagnetic ordering in the RNiGe3 series (R=Ce-Nd, Sm, Gd-Tm) have been observed above 1.8 K from the magnetic susceptibility. A metamagnetic transition in this family (except for R=Sm) was detected at 2 K for applied magnetic fields below 70 kOe. The electrical resistivity of this series follows metallic behavior in the high temperature region. Below the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature a significant anisotropy is exhibited in the resistivity and magnetoresistance for different current directions. The anisotropic magnetic, transport, and thermal properties of RNiGe3 compounds are discussed in terms of Ni site occupancy as well as a combination of the effect of formation of a magnetic superzone gap and the crystalline electric field.  相似文献

We explore a new possibility of electroweak baryogenesis in the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model. In this model, a strong first-order electroweak phase transition can be achieved due to the additional singlet Higgs field. The new impact of its superpartner (singlino) on the baryon asymmetry is investigated by employing the closed-time-path formalism. We find that the CP violating source term fueled by the singlino could be large enough to generate the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe without any conflicts with the current constraints from the non-observation of the thallium, neutron and mercury electric dipole moments.  相似文献

Retrospective analyses of clinical dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) MRI studies may be limited by failure to measure the longitudinal relaxation rate constant (R1) initially, which is necessary for quantitative analysis. In addition, errors in R1 estimation in each individual experiment can cause inconsistent results in derivations of pharmacokinetic parameters, Ktrans and ve, by kinetic modeling of the DCE-MRI time course data. A total of 18 patients with lower extremity osteosarcomas underwent multislice DCE-MRI prior to surgery. For the individual R1 measurement approach, the R1 time course was obtained using the two-point R1 determination method. For the average R10 (precontrast R1) approach, the R1 time course was derived using the DCE-MRI pulse sequence signal intensity equation and the average R10 value of this population. The whole tumor and histogram median Ktrans (0.57±0.37 and 0.45±0.32 min−1) and ve (0.59±0.20 and 0.56±0.17) obtained with the individual R1 measurement approach are not significantly different (paired t test) from those (Ktrans: 0.61±0.46 and 0.44±0.33 min−1; ve: 0.61±0.19 and 0.55±0.14) obtained with the average R10 approach. The results suggest that it is feasible, as well as practical, to use a limited-population-based average R10 for pharmacokinetic modeling of osteosarcoma DCE-MRI data.  相似文献

A series of rare-earth doped BiFeO3 samples, Bi1−xRxFeO3 (x=0-1, R=La, Nd, Sm, Eu and Tb), were prepared in this work. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the structure of rare-earth doped BiFeO3 was transformed from rhombohedral lattice to orthorhombic one by increasing x. The lattice constants and unit-cell volume decreased with the increasing of the doping content, while both the Néel temperature and magnetization were enhanced. A magnetic phase transition was observed at about 35 K for BiFeO3. The variation of the magnetization with temperature depended on applied field strength and magnetizing history, which was explained according to the antiferromagnetic exchange interaction between Fe and R sites in Bi1−xRxFeO3(x>0). The magnetocrystalline anisotropy contributed by Fe sublattice gave rise to a large coercivity in BixNd1−xFeO3 with an orthorhombic structure.  相似文献

Supersymmetric models based on the scenario of gauge mediation often suffer from the well-known μ problem. In this paper, we reconsider this problem in low-scale gauge mediation in terms of effective field theory analysis. In this paradigm, all high energy input soft mass can be expressed via loop expansions. If the corrections coming from messenger thresholds are small, as we assume in this letter, then all RG evaluations can be taken as linearly approximation for low-scale supersymmetric breaking. Due to these observations, the parameter space can be systematically classified and studied after constraints coming from electro-weak symmetry breaking are imposed. We find that some old proposals in the literature are reproduced, and two new classes are uncovered. We refer to a microscopic model, where the specific relations among coefficients in one of the new classes are well motivated. Also, we discuss some primary phenomenologies.  相似文献

We discuss various approaches to the problem of determining which supersymmetric invariants are permitted as counterterms in maximally supersymmetric super Yang–Mills and supergravity theories in various dimensions. We review the superspace non-renormalisation theorems based on conventional, light-cone, harmonic and certain non-Lorentz covariant superspaces, and we write down explicitly the relevant invariants. While the first two types of superspace admit the possibility of one-half BPS counterterms, of the form F 4 and R 4 respectively, the last two do not. This suggests that UV divergences begin with one-quarter BPS counterterms, i.e. d 2 F 4 and d 4 R 4, and this is supported by an entirely different approach based on algebraic renormalisation. The algebraic formalism is discussed for non-renormalisable theories and it is shown how the allowable supersymmetric counterterms can be determined via cohomological methods. These results are in agreement with all the explicit computations that have been carried out to date. In particular, they suggest that maximal supergravity is likely to diverge at four loops in D = 5 and at five loops in D = 4, unless other infinity suppression mechanisms not involving supersymmetry or gauge invariance are at work.  相似文献

Motivated by the recent super-Kamiokande results on atmospheric neutrinos, we incorporate massive neutrinos, with large angle oscillation between the second and third generations, in a theory with R-parity violating supersymmetry. The general features of such a theory are briefly reviewed. We emphasize its testability through the observation of comparable numbers of muons and taus, produced together with the W-boson, in decays of the lightest neutralino. A distinctly measurable decay gap is another remarkable feature of such a scenario.  相似文献

We argue that with the discovery of neutrino mass effects at super-Kamiokande there is a clear logical chain leading from the standard model through the MSSM and the recently developed minimal left right supersymmetric models with a renormalizable see-saw mechanism for neutrino mass to left right symmetric SUSY GUTS: in particular, SO(10) and SU(2) L × SU(2) R × SU(4) c . In a previous paper, we proposed the infinite sub-layer quark model, in which the proton and the neutron are made up of an infinite number of point-like (structure-less) quarks u and anti-quarks u CP at an infinite sub-layer level. In this paper, we propose that the dark matter is also made of an infinite number of quarks u and anti-quarks u CP . A pair of the ultimate quarks u and anti-quarks u CP would be produced in the first moments after the Big Bang and then remain as the dark matter for all time, stable against decay and subject only to the weak interaction and gravity. It is then shown that CP is violated in the doublet of u and u CP quarks to account for the asymmetry of the number of particles and anti-particles in the present universe. Furthermore, it is shown that the Higgs bosons are composed of u and u CP dark matter particles and give the masses to gauge bosons, quarks and leptons.  相似文献

It has been known for sometime that supersymmetric theories with R-parity violation provide a natural framework where small neutrino masses can be generated. We discuss neutrino masses and mixing in these theories in the presence of trilinear lepton number violating couplings. The present paper reconsiders the Newtonian limit of models of modified gravity including higher order terms in the scalar curvature in the gravitational action. This was studied using the Palatini variational principle in Meng and Wang (Gen. Rel. Grav. 36, 1947 (2004)) and Domínguez and Barraco (Phys. Rev. D 70, 043505 (2004)) with contradicting results. Here a different approach is used, and problems in the previous attempts are pointed out. It is shown that models with negative powers of the scalar curvature, like the ones used to explain the present accelerated expansion, as well as their generalization which include positive powers, can give the correct Newtonian limit, as long as the coefficients of these powers are reasonably small. Some consequences of the performed analysis seem to raise doubts for the way the Newtonian limit was derived in the purely metric approach of fourth order gravity [Dick in Gen. Rel. Grav. 36, 217 (2004)]. Finally, we comment on a recent paper [Olmo in Phys. Rev. D 72, 083505 (2005)] in which the problem of the Newtonian limit of both the purely metric and the Palatini formalism is discussed, using the equivalent Brans–Dicke theory, and with which our results partly disagree.  相似文献
