It is proved that certain polynomials of degree ?3 have a cyclic group of order n as Galois group over all rational function fields k(t) with characteristic not dividing n. Moreover, the extension fields of k(t) generated by the polynomials have k as precise field of constants, and possess an unramified rational point. For all 3≤?20 with the exceptions of 17 and 19 the polynomials are calculated explicitly  相似文献

We use Janelidze's Categorical Galois Theory to extend Brown and Ellis's higher Hopf formulae for homology of groups to arbitrary semi-abelian monadic categories. Given such a category A and a chosen Birkhoff subcategory B of A, thus we describe the Barr-Beck derived functors of the reflector of A onto B in terms of centralization of higher extensions. In case A is the category Gp of all groups and B is the category Ab of all abelian groups, this yields a new proof for Brown and Ellis's formulae. We also give explicit formulae in the cases of groups vs. k-nilpotent groups, groups vs. k-solvable groups and precrossed modules vs. crossed modules.  相似文献

We describe a technique for determining the set-transitivity of the Galois group of a polynomial over the rationals. As an application we give a short proof that the polynomial P7(x) = x7 ? 154x + 99 has the simple group PSL(2, 7) of order 168 as its Galois group over the rationals. A similar method is used to prove that the associated splitting field is not that of the polynomial x7 ? 7x + 3 given by Trinks [9].  相似文献

We present a new scattered data fitting method, where local approximating polynomials are directly extended to smooth (C 1 or C 2) splines on a uniform triangulation Δ (the four-directional mesh). The method is based on designing appropriate minimal determining sets consisting of whole triangles of domain points for a uniformly distributed subset of Δ. This construction allows to use discrete polynomial least squares approximations to the local portions of the data directly as parts of the approximating spline. The remaining Bernstein–Bézier coefficients are efficiently computed by extension, i.e., using the smoothness conditions. To obtain high quality local polynomial approximations even for difficult point constellations (e.g., with voids, clusters, tracks), we adaptively choose the polynomial degrees by controlling the smallest singular value of the local collocation matrices. The computational complexity of the method grows linearly with the number of data points, which facilitates its application to large data sets. Numerical tests involving standard benchmarks as well as real world scattered data sets illustrate the approximation power of the method, its efficiency and ability to produce surfaces of high visual quality, to deal with noisy data, and to be used for surface compression.  相似文献

A useful criterion characterizing a monic irreducible polynomial over Q with Galois group Dp (the dihedral group of order 2p, p: prime) is given by making use of the geometry of Dp, i.e., Dp is the symmetry group of the regular p-gon. We derive explicit numerical examples of polynomials with dihedral Galois groups D5 and D7.  相似文献

In this paper, we study an exceptional theta correspondence, obtained by restricting the minimal automorphic representation of the adjoint group of type E7 and rank 3 over Q to the dual pair GxPGSp6. Here G is the anisotropic form of G2 over Q; using the correspondence, we lift certain automorphic forms on G to holomorphic cusp forms on PGSp6. This lifting provides the first step in a project to construct motives of rank 7 and weight O over Q with Galois group of type G2.  相似文献

A central pair over a field k of characteristic 0 consists of a finite Abelian group which is equipped with a central 2-cocycle with values in the multiplicative group k * of k. In this paper we use specific central pairs to construct a class of projective representations of the absolute Galois group G k of k and if k is a number field we investigate the liftings of these projective representations to linear representations of G k . In particular we relate these linear representations to automorphic representations. It turns out that some of these automorphic representations correspond to certain indefinite modular forms already constructed by E. Hecke.  相似文献

In this article, we introduce the notion of a partial action of a groupoid on a ring as well as we give a criteria for the existence of a globalization of it. We construct a Morita context associated to a globalizable partial groupoid action, and we introduce the notion of a partial Galois extension, which is related to the strictness of this context.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a generalized Hopf Galois theory for regular multiplier Hopf algebras with integrals, which might be viewed as a generalization of the Hopf Galois theory of finite-dimensional Hopf algebras. We introduce the notion of a coaction of a multiplier Hopf algebra on an algebra. We show that there is a duality for actions and coactions of multiplier Hopf algebras with integrals. In order to study the Galois (co)action of a multiplier Hopf algebra with an integral, we construct a Morita context connecting the smash product and the coinvariants. A Galois (co)action can be characterized by certain surjectivity of a canonical map in the Morita context. Finally, we apply the Morita theory to obtain the duality theorems for actions and coactions of a co-Frobenius Hopf algebra.  相似文献

We develop a Galois theory for systems of linear difference equations with periodic parameters, for which we also introduce linear difference algebraic groups. We apply this to constructively test if solutions of linear q-difference equations, with q ∈ ?* and q not a root of unity, satisfy any polynomial ζ-difference equations with ζ t  = 1, t ≥ 1.  相似文献

Abstract

A procedure for estimating a bivariate density based on data that may be censored is described. After the data are transformed to the unit square, the bivariate density is estimated using linear splines and their tensor products. The combined procedure yields an estimate of the bivariate density on the original scale, which may provide insight about the dependence structure. The procedure can also be used to estimate densities that are known to be symmetric and to test for independence.  相似文献

As n × n Hessenberg matrix A is defined whose characteristic polynomial is relative to an arbitrary basis. This generalizes the companion, colleague, and comrade matrices when the bases are, respectively, power, Chebyshev, and orthogonal, so the term “confederate” matrix is suggested. Some properties of A are derived, including an algorithm for computing powers of A. A scheme is given for inverting the transformation matrix between the arbitrary and power bases. A Vandermonde-type matrix associated with A and a block confederate matrix are defined.  相似文献

We consider the determination of the number ck(α) of ordered factorizations of an arbitrary permutation on n symbols, with cycle distribution α, intok -cycles such that the factorizations have minimal length and the group generated by the factors acts transitively on then symbols. The case k =  2 corresponds to the celebrated result of Hurwitz on the number of topologically distinct holomorphic functions on the 2-sphere that preserve a given number of elementary branch point singularities. In this case the monodromy group is the full symmetric group. For k =  3, the monodromy group is the alternating group, and this is another case that, in principle, is of considerable interest. We conjecture an explicit form, for arbitrary k, for the generating series for ck(α), and prove that it holds for factorizations of permutations with one, two and three cycles (so α is a partition with at most three parts). Our approach is to determine a differential equation for the generating series from a combinatorial analysis of the creation and annihilation of cycles in products under the minimality condition.  相似文献
