We report the influence of external high-pressure (P up to 8 GPa) on the temperature (T) dependence of electrical resistivity (ρ) of a Yb-based Kondo lattice, YbPd2Si2, which does not undergo magnetic ordering under ambient pressure condition. There are qualitative changes in the ρ(T) behavior due to the application of external pressure. While ρ is found to vary quadratically below 15 K (down to 45 mK) characteristic of Fermi-liquids, a drop is observed below 0.5 K for P=1 GPa, signaling the onset of magnetic ordering of Yb ions with the application of P. The T at which this fall occurs goes through a peak as a function of P (8 K for P=2 GPa and about 5 K at high pressures), mimicking Doniach's magnetic phase diagram. We infer that this compound is one of the very few Yb-based stoichiometric materials, in which one can traverse from valence fluctuation to magnetic ordering by the application of external pressure.  相似文献

We report the temperature dependence of susceptibility for various pressures, magnetic fields and constant magnetic field of 5 T with various pressures on La2−2xSr1+2xMn2O7 single crystal to understand the effectiveness of pressure and magnetic field in altering the magnetic properties. We find that the Curie temperature, Tc, increases under pressure (dTc/dP=10.9 K/GPa) and it indicates the enhancement of ferromagnetic phase under pressure up to 2 GPa. The magnetic field dependence of Tc is about 26 K for 3 T. The combined effect of pressure and constant magnetic field (5 T) shows dTc/dP=11.3 K/GPa and the peak structure is suppressed and broadened. The application of magnetic field of 5 T realizes 3D spin ordered state below Tc at atmospheric pressure. Both peak structure in χc and 3D spin ordered state are suppressed, and changes to 2D-like spin ordered state by increase of pressure. These results reveal that the pressure and the magnetic field are more competitive in altering the magnetic properties of bilayer manganite La1.25Sr1.75Mn2O7 single crystal.  相似文献

Magnetic properties and the magnetocaloric effect of the compound TbPdAl are investigated. The compound exhibits a weak antiferromagnetic (AFM) coupling, and undergoes two successive AFM transitions at TN=43 K and Tt=22 K. A field-induced metamagnetic transition from AFM to ferromagnetic (FM) state is observed below TN, and a small magnetic field can destroy the AFM structure of TbPdAl, inducing an FM-like state. The maximal value of magnetic entropy change is −11.4 J/kg K with a refrigerant capacity of 350 J/kg around TN for a field change of 0-5 T. Good magnetocaloric properties of TbPdAl result from the high saturation magnetization caused by the field-induced AFM-FM transition.  相似文献

We have investigated the pressure-induced structural phase transition in ReO3 by neutron diffraction on a single crystal. We collected neutron diffraction intensities from the ambient and high pressure phases at P=7 kbar and refined the crystal structures. We have determined the stability of the high pressure phase as a function temperature down to T=2 K and have constructed the (P-T) phase diagram. The critical pressure is Pc=5.2 kbar at T=300 K and decreases almost linearly with decreasing temperature to become Pc=2.5 kbar at T=50 K. The phase transition is driven by the softening of the M3 phonon mode. The high pressure phase is formed by the rigid rotation of almost undistorted ReO6 octahedra and the Re-O-Re angle deviates from 180°. We do not see any evidence for the existence of the tetragonal (P4/mbm) intermediate pressure phase reported earlier.  相似文献

The phase transformations of titanium metal have been studied at temperatures and pressures up to 973 K and 8.7 GPa using synchrotron X-ray diffraction. The equilibrium phase boundary of the α-ω transition has a dT/dP slope of 345 K/GPa, and the transition pressure at room temperature is located at 5.7 GPa. The volume change across the α-ω transition is ΔV=0.197 cm3/mol, and the associated entropy change is ΔS=0.57 J/mol K. Except for ΔV, our results differ substantially from those of previous studies based on an equilibrium transition pressure of 2.0 GPa at room temperature. The α-ω-β triple point is estimated to be at 7.5 GPa and 913 K, which is comparable with previous results obtained from differential thermal analysis and resistometric measurements. An update, more accurate phase diagram is established for Ti metal based on the present observations and previous constraints on the α-β and ω-β phase boundaries.  相似文献

In order to study the mechanism behind the phase separation scenario in the Sm0.15Ca0.85MnO3 compound, magnetization and resistivity measurements have been carried out in pulsed magnetic fields up to 50 T at temperatures 4.2 K<T<200 K. It is found that external magnetic field causes a collapse of a C-type AFM (P21/m) phase resulting in field-induced insulator-metal transition, which is irreversible below T1=75 K. In zero field the content of a G-type phase in the mixed C-G state can vary from 10 to 17% at T=10 K. A set of metastable states with different volume ratios of G-type to C-type phases is observed below T1 depending on the history of the sample. The obtained results indicate that the phase separation plays a dominant role for the electric and the magnetic properties of this material.  相似文献

The influence of partial substitution of La by Dy on the magnetocaloric response of (La1−xDyx)0.67Ca0.33Mn0.9V0.1O3, where x=0.03, 0.15 and 0.25 is studied. Rietveld refinement of X-ray diffraction pattern using GSAS method shows that the compounds adopt the orthorhombic structure with Pnma space group. The systematic change in lattice parameters and magnetic phase transition indicates the substitution effect of Dy. From the magnetization isotherms at different temperatures, magnetic entropy change close to their respective transition temperatures (TC) has been evaluated. The maximum value of entropy change near TC is found to be about 4.8 J/kg K at 187.5 K for LCMVDy0.03, 2.45 J/kg K at 107.5 K for LCMVDy0.15 and 2.15 J/kg K at 92.5 K for LCMVDy0.25 at 4 T. Dy addition produces a reduction in TC and in magnitude of the magnetic entropy change. Even though the entropy change decreases with increasing Dy substitution the refrigerant temperature range, ΔT, is found to be 10 K for LCMVDy0.03, 31 K for LCMVDy0.15 and 35 K for LCMVDy0.25 compounds [90%] at 4 T. The field dependence of the magnetic entropy change is also analyzed showing the power law dependence, ΔSMHn where n=0.75(2) for LCMVDy0.03, n=0.80(4) for LCMVDy0.15 and n=0.92(8) for LCMVDy0.25 compounds at their respective transition temperatures. The relative cooling power and its field dependance are also analyzed.  相似文献

The magnetic entropy change in GdCo13−xSix (x=3.8, 4, 4.1, and 4.2) intermetallic compounds has been investigated by means of magnetic measurements in the vicinity of their Curie temperature. It was found that the magnetic ordering temperatures decrease from 60 K at x=3.8 to 28 K for x=4.2. The magnetic entropy change is calculated from isothermal magnetization versus magnetic field at various temperatures using the Maxwell relation. As a result, the maximum magnetic entropy changes of the investigated compounds, at their Curie temperatures, decrease from 11.5 J/kg K for x=4.2 to 6.86 J/kg K for x=3.8 in a field change of 0-3 T, whereas it decreases from 5.13 J/kg K for x=4.2 to 2.60 J/kg K for x=3.8 in a field change of 0-1 T. Moreover, the maximum value of the magnetic entropy change obtained at a higher field for GdCo13−xSix with x=4 (23.75 J/kg K at 5 T) is comparable to that of various types of compounds with a cubic NaZn13-type structure. Finally, the maximum of the magnetic entropy change is found to decrease with increasing Si content.  相似文献

CeAgAs2, an HfCuSi2 like layered pnictide, orders antiferromagnetically at TN=6.2(1) K. The ordering process was monitored in neutron diffraction experiments in the temperature range 10 K≥T≥3.5 K. At T=4 K the lattice parameters are a=5.7438(1) Å, b=5.7696(1) Å and c=21.0067(2) Å. The diffraction pattern of the antiferromagnetic phase with a propagation vector k=[0,0,0] point towards ferromagnetically ordered moments in Ce layers stacked along [001], the individual layers are coupled antiferromagnetically with a +− −+type sequence. The alignment of moments within the Ce layers cannot be determined reliably from the experimental data so that two different structure models are discussed. The proposed metamagnetic transition was confirmed by diffraction experiments applying an external magnetic field at T<TN. In the interval 4 K≤T≤6 K, a relatively small field of μ0H≈0.3 T suffices to fully suppress the antiferromagnetic ordering. The effect is completely reversible yet subject to hysteresis: After switching off the external field at any T<TN the magnetic reflections gain their original intensity within several 10 min indicating the restoring of the antiferromagnetic phase.  相似文献

In order to elucidate the anisotropic pressure effect on superconductivity in an iron-based superconductor, magnetization measurements have been performed in Ba(Fe0.92Co0.08)2As2 single crystals under uniaxial pressures applied along the c-axis. Gigantic Tc suppression, dTc/dP//c = −15 K/GPa, was observed when the anisotropic deformation with the a-expansion and c-compression was induced by the c-pressure, which should be compared with dTc/dP < +1 K/GPa in the isotropic pressure case. This suggests that the a-axis (c-axis) compression has a positive (negative) contribution to Tc.  相似文献

Measurements of the electrical conductivity were performed in KHSO4 at pressures between 0.5 and 2.5 GPa and in the temperature range 120-350 °C by the use of the impedance spectroscopy. The temperatures of the α-β phase transition (TTr) and of the melting (Tm), determined from the Arrhenius plots ln(σT) vs. 1/T, increase with pressure up to 1.5 GPa having dT/dP∼+45 K/GPa. Above the pressure 1.5 GPa, the pressure dependencies of TTr and Tm are negative dT/dP∼−45 K/GPa. At pressures above 0.5 GPa, the reversible decomposition of KHSO4 into K3H(SO4)2+H2SO4 (and probably into K5H3(SO4)4+H2SO4) affects the electrical conductivity of KHSO4, with the typical values of the protonic electrical conductivity, c. 10−1 S/cm at 2.5 GPa.  相似文献

Polycrystalline binary rare earth intermetallic compound DySi is found to be dimorphic at room temperature (orthorhombic FeB type, space group Pnma, No. 62 and CrB type, space group Cmcm, No. 63). This compound exhibits interesting magnetic properties including an antiferromagnetic transition at ∼38 K (TN) and a low-temperature field-induced transition in a critical field of 65 kOe, at 5 K. The values of magnetic entropy change and adiabatic temperature change near the magnetic transition in DySi have been estimated using the heat capacity data obtained in different applied fields. Negative magnetocaloric effect is observed at temperatures close to and below TN, in fields up to 50 kOe.  相似文献

In this work, we report the behavior of electrical resistivity of SmB6 at temperatures between 2.2 and 70 K in pulsed magnetic fields up to 54 T. A strong negative magnetoresistance was detected with increasing magnetic field, when lowering the temperature in the range T<30 K. We show that the amplitude of negative magnetoresistance reaches its maximum dR/R~70% at B=54 T, in the vicinity of phase transition occurring in this strongly correlated electron system at TC~5 K. The crossover from negative magnetoresistance to positive magnetoresistance found at intermediate temperatures at T>30 K is discussed within the framework of exciton-polaron model of local charge fluctuations in SmB6 proposed by Kikoin and Mishchenko. It seems that these exciton-polaron in-gap states are influenced both by temperature and magnetic field.  相似文献

The influence of cobalt on the microstructural, magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of LaFe11.5−xCoxSi1.5C0.2 (x=0.50–0.85) compounds was investigated. The ingots were prepared by using a vacuum induction melting furnace. Before annealing, a large amount of 1:13 phase was distinctly observed. Nearly single 1:13 phase was obtained after annealing at 1353 K for only 3 days. The easy formation of 1:13 phase in the annealing process could be attributed to carbon doping. The Curie temperature (TC) increases linearly with increasing the cobalt content. Although the maximum magnetic entropy changes of the compounds decrease rapidly when TC rises from 275 to 298 K, and it decreases mildly when TC continues to rise. Two composite refrigerants based on the compounds are proposed. Their entropy changes remains approximately constant over the temperature range from 266 to 292 K and 289 to 309 K.  相似文献

Our recent studies of the steady-state kinetics of the N2O-CO reaction on Rh(1 1 0) indicate that at CO excess, the reaction rate increases with increasing temperature. At N2O excess, the reaction rate is nearly independent of temperature at T < 520 K and rapidly decreases with increasing temperature at T > 520 K. Our present analysis of the relevant data indicates that the latter feature seems to be related to surface-oxide formation. Following this line, we propose a mean-field kinetic model making it possible to describe and clarify the experiment.  相似文献

We have investigated the magnetic and electronic properties of the antiferromagnetic Kondo lattice YbPtAl using the 170Yb Mössbauer effect at ambient pressure (1.8<T<10 K), electrical resistance (1.8<T<300 K) and X-ray diffraction (T=300 K) techniques at high pressures up to 26 GPa. We find a complex magnetic state in YbPtAl at ambient pressure and an unusual volume-induced change of TN. It is suggested, that the anomalous volume dependence of TN is due to the interplay between frustrated anisotropic exchange interactions and magnetocrystalline anisotropy. The magnetic frustration originates from the topology of the crystal lattice.  相似文献

We have studied the effect of Fe substitution on magnetic and magnetocaloric properties in La0.7Sr0.3Mn1−xFexO3 (x=0.05, 0.07, 0.10, 0.15, and 0.20) over a wide temperature range (T=10-400 K). It is shown that substitution by Fe gradually decreases the ferromagnetic Curie temperature (TC) and saturation magnetization up to x=0.15 but a dramatic change occurs for x=0.2. The x=0.2 sample can be considered as a phase separated compound in which both short-range ordered ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic phases coexist. The magnetic entropy change (−ΔSm) was estimated from isothermal magnetization curves and it decreases with increase of Fe content from 4.4 J kg−1 K−1 at 343 K (x=0.05) to 1.3 J kg−1 K−1 at 105 K (x=0.2), under ΔH=5 T. The La0.7Sr0.3Mn0.93Fe0.07O3 sample shows negligible hysteresis loss, operating temperature range over 60 K around room temperature with refrigerant capacity of 225 J kg−1, and magnetic entropy of 4 J kg−1 K−1 which will be an interesting compound for application in room temperature refrigeration.  相似文献

Single-phase polycrystalline samples of La0.7Sr0.3Mn1-xCrxO3 with nominal composition of x=0.00, 0.20, 0.40 and 0.50 were prepared by a conventional solid-state reaction method in air. Investigations of magnetization were carried out in the temperature range 5-400 K and magnetic field range 0-8 T. It was found that the Curie temperature TC decreases with increasing x and the maximum magnetic entropy change (−ΔSM) for x=0.20 is ∼1.203 and ∼2.653 J/kg K, respectively for 2 and 6 T magnetic field near the temperature of 280 K.  相似文献

We have investigated the magnetic ordering and the incommensurate-commensurate phase transition in EuAs3 by zero-field (ZF) and longitudinal-field μSR. In the commensurate phase, stable at temperatures below TL=10.3 K, the ZF muon signal exhibits oscillations corresponding to four muon precession frequencies the lowest of which behaves anomalously. The muon signal shows no oscillation but exponential decay in the incommensurate phase stable in temperature range from TL≈10.3 K up to TN≈11 K. The temperature dependence of the fitted relaxation rate shows divergence-like behaviour at the ordering temperature TN≈11 K and also at the lock-in transition TL≈10.3 K. The results are in qualitative agreement with those previously obtained by neutron and X-ray magnetic scattering investigations except for the anomalous temperature dependence of the lowest frequency in the commensurate phase. We propose a model for this anomalous behaviour.  相似文献

The structural and magnetic properties of ErMn2H4.6 have been studied by X-ray and neutron diffraction up to the pressures of 15 and 6 GPa, respectively. In the pressure range 0<P<3 GPa we observe a first-order phase transition to new high-pressure (HP) phase. The HP phase has the same hexagonal unit cell as the ambient-pressure phase but smaller lattice parameters (ΔV/V=−5%). The structural transition results in suppression of the long-range antiferromagnetic order. Our results suggest that pressure changes positions of the hydrogen atoms in the metal host. We speculate that the new arrangement of hydrogen atoms induces spin frustration and, therefore, suppresses long-range magnetic order in the HP phase.  相似文献
