The geometric Spin Hall Effect of Light (geometric SHEL) amounts to a polarization-dependent positional shift when a light beam is observed from a reference frame tilted with respect to its direction of propagation. Motivated by this intriguing phenomenon, the energy density of the light beam is decomposed into its Cartesian components in the tilted reference frame. This illustrates the occurrence of the characteristic shift and the significance of the effective response function of the detector. We introduce the concept of a tilted polarizing interface and provide a scheme for its experimental implementation. A light beam passing through such an interface undergoes a shift resembling the original geometric SHEL in a tilted reference frame. This displacement is generated at the polarizer and its occurrence does not depend on the properties of the detection system. We give explicit results for this novel type of geometric SHEL and show that at grazing incidence this effect amounts to a displacement of multiple wavelengths, a shift larger than the one introduced by Goos?CH?nchen and Imbert?CFedorov effects. 相似文献

In this Letter, a method for detecting the focused beam waist of lasers is proposed by using weak measurements based on the so-called weak-value amplification. We establish a propagation model to describe the quantitative relation between the beam waist and the amplified shift of the spin Hall effect of light(SHEL), which is sensitive to the variation of the beam waist. We experimentally measure the amplified shift corresponding to a different beam waist and the experimental data agrees well with theoretical calculation. These results confirm the rationality and feasibility of our method. 相似文献

The spin Hall effect of light(SHEL) can be observed by the dark strip resulting from weak measurement. We find that the SHEL of a partially coherent beam(PCB) has a similar phenomenon as well. However, the dark strip in the SHEL of a PCB cannot be explained by considering the beam as an assemblance of coherent speckles. Also,the dark strip in a PCB is not purely dark. By analyzing the autocorrelation, we show that the SHEL of a PCB is the result of overlapping coherent speckles' SHEL. We further prove our conclusion by adjusting convergence and incident angles. Finally, we develop a qualitative theory to clarify the SHEL of a PCB. 相似文献

<正>We theoretically investigate a switchable spin Hall effect of light(SHEL) in reflection for three specific dispersion relations at an air-anisotropic metamaterial interface.The displacements of horizontal and vertical polarization components vary with the incident angle at different dispersion relations.The transverse displacements can be obtained with the relevant metamaterial whose refractive index can be arbitrarily tailed.The results of the SHEL in the metarnaterial provide a new way for manipulating the transverse displacements of a specific polarization component. 相似文献

The polarization properties of the optical set-up used for holographic recording of diffraction gratings on azopolymer thin
films are analyzed. The state of polarization of circularly polarized light is fully analyzed after reflection on a mirror
at various incidences (Lloyd-mirror set-up). The Stokes analysis is performed using a photopolarimeter and the phase shift,
the ellipticity and the azimuth orientation are compared with those calculated from Fresnel formulae. At large angles of incidence,
an initially right circularly polarized (RCP) beam becomes elliptically polarized with an azimuth of nearly +45°. From these
results, holographic diffraction gratings are recorded on an azobenzene-containing polymer thin film using (i) co- and contra-circularly
polarized beams and (ii) a right circularly polarized beam interfering with a +45° linearly polarized light beam. Using Jones-matrix
formalism, the polarization states of the diffracted orders from the birefringence (Δn) and the surface-relief (2Δd) gratings
are derived and compared with experimental measurements. Finally, the induced local birefringences and surface-relief amplitudes
are discussed in connection with atomic force microscopy measurements. The diffraction efficiencies obtained under the (+45°+RCP)
and (LCP + RCP) (where LCP = left circularly polarized) configurations are thus compared and discussed.

We present a solution to the problem of reflection and transmission of a polarized paraxial light beam at an interface between two homogeneous media by using a two-form amplitude and an extension matrix to represent the vectorial angular spectrum of a three-dimensional (3D) light beam. We derive general formulas for the Imbert-Fedorov (IF) shift of the reflected and transmitted beams of a polarized paraxial light beam. The IF shift of two different types of polarized beams is calculated, and the influence of the polarization state and the polarization feature of the vectorial angular spectrum on the IF shift is discussed. 相似文献

It is shown that by using a wedge plate, the incident direction of light propagation can be rotated as necessary while still
preserving beam polarization. The basic conditions of these preservations of polarization are deduced. For numerical demonstration,
it is shown that a collimated beam with +45° linear polarization can be guided to any pre-settled direction where the square
of ellipse ratio variation in the polarization is less than 0.0001%, while the variation of squared ellipse ratio of a right

This note reports on the effects of the polarization state of an incident quasi-monochromatic parallel beam of radiation and the orientation of a hexagonal ice particle with respect to the incident direction on the extinction process. When the incident beam is aligned with the six-fold rotational symmetry axis, the extinction is independent of the polarization state of the incident light. For other orientations, the extinction cross-section for linearly polarized light can be either larger or smaller than its counterpart for an unpolarized incident beam. Therefore, the attenuation of a quasi-monochromatic radiation beam by an ice cloud depends on the polarization state of the beam if ice crystals within the cloud are not randomly oriented. Furthermore, a case study of the extinction of light by a quartz particle is also presented to illustrate the dependence of the extinction cross-section on the polarization state of the incident light. 相似文献

在利用液晶空间光调制器(LCSLM)产生涡旋光束时,入射光的偏振方向对涡旋的产生有着明显的影响。从液晶空间光调制器的工作原理出发,研究了不同偏振方向的线偏振光在通过LCSLM的相位调制后,涡旋光束产生的变化。通过模拟仿真与实验结果的比较,发现随着线偏振光的偏振方向与液晶分子光轴夹角的增大,液晶空间光调制器的调制误差变大,所产生的涡旋光束的质量变差。当夹角大于4.725°时,涡旋光束的质量明显变差。而随着夹角继续增大,LCSLM对入射光的调制作用减弱,无法产生涡旋光束。 相似文献

光束在电介质界面发生全反射时,实际反射光束会在入射面内相对于几何反射光束产生一侧向位移,在垂直于入射面的方向产生一横向位移。利用改进的能流法研究了任意偏振态光束发生全反射时的侧向和横向位移特性。研究表明,侧向位移的大小与入射光束的两组成部分———TE和TM偏振光的相位差无关,而与两组分的光强比密切相关,且该位移可以表示为TE和TM偏振光束各自的位移按光强的加权平均。横向位移的大小不仅与入射光束两组分的光强比相关,还与组分的相位差密切相关。另外,反射光束不仅在椭圆偏振态入射的情况下会产生横向位移,而且在TE和TM偏振态之外的其他线偏振态入射时,也会产生横向位移。 相似文献

When a polarized polychromatic beam passes through a birefringent medium, the constituent spectral components suffer different change of state of polarization. As a result when the beam passes through an analyzer, the intensity of the resultant beam changes depending on the orientation of the analyzer, state of polarization of the input beam, spectral and spatial intensity distribution of the source and the polarizing properties of the birefringent medium. In the present study the intensity variation of the resulting beam passing through a quarter-wave retarder plate is observed theoretically with the variation of the azimuthal angle of the analyzer for monochromatic and polychromatic source of light. A simple experiment is conducted to observe the intensity variation for an incandescent lamp and HeNe laser as polychromatic and monochromatic source of light passing through a birefringent polymer-based quarter-wave retarder plate. The experimentally obtained values are compared with theoretical values and a good agreement is observed. 相似文献

通过高分辨率电子束光刻方法制备了不同形状的三层复合材料纳米颗粒,研究了这种纳米颗粒的形状变化对消光特性的影响。测试结果表明,当入射波偏振方向平行于短轴时,随着长宽比的增大,共振峰位置发生蓝移;当光源偏振方向平行于长轴时,随着长宽比的增大,共振峰位置发生红移。还用时域有限差分算法以及表面等离波子的Lorentz模型对纳米颗粒的消光特性进行数值计算,所得的消光频谱曲线、共振峰位置变化趋势与实验基本一致。此外,还研究了主体材料层厚度对消光特性的影响,发现其厚度在20~90nm变化时,共振峰发生3~115nm的蓝移。 相似文献

The Fedorov lateral shift of a polarized beam upon the total internal reflection of light from an interface between media with positive and negative refractive indices is investigated. It is shown that the Fedorov lateral shift depends substantially on the polarization of the incident beam. The prediction is made that the Fedorov lateral shift can be completely compensated upon the total internal reflection of linearly polarized modes from two boundaries of a planar waveguide with a substrate prepared from a left-handed material. 相似文献

We present an idea to generate an arbitrary space-variant vector beam with structured polarization and phase distributions. The vector beams are synthesized from the left- and right-hand polarized light, each carrying different phase distributions. 利用厚体布拉格光栅的波长选择特性对目标光场进行窄带滤波,是实现高光谱成像的一种新途径。基于严格耦合波理论,设计了体布拉格光栅结构,探索了厚体布拉格光栅的制作工艺,搭建系统光路验证了体布拉格光栅的光谱成像能力。研究结果表明:要获得较窄滤波谱宽,需要提高体布拉格光栅的厚度周期比,并严格控制入射光束发散角;刻写光束质量、震动和偏振会极大地影响制作的光栅条纹面质量,需要从优化写入光的光束均匀性、采用防震措施以及调整两刻写光束偏振一致性等方面优化刻写过程,以提高光栅的衍射效率和质量;验证了体布拉格光栅滤波片进行空间二维面阵成像的能力,宽谱光源透射条件下,通过对入射光束进行准直,滤波谱宽5 nm左右,空间分辨率约4 lines/mm;漫反射条件下,使用体布拉格光栅对进行色散补偿,能够实现较为清晰的成像,空间分辨率约4.9 lines/mm。 相似文献

A setup for the generation of arbitrary vector beams is proposed. The setup mainly consists of a spatial light modulator(SLM), an angle-adjustable polarization beam splitter modulator, and a spatial filtering imaging system. Compared with the system using a birefringent beam splitter with a non-adjustable splitting angle,the polarization splitting angle of the improved setup can be adjusted by slightly rotating the related mirrors,which will bring more convenience when different wavelengths and different pixel sizes of SLMs are involved.The experimental results also demonstrate that the setup possesses a good polarization-selective imaging ability, which reveals that the setup may also be useful in polarization-selective spatial filtering imaging and polarization-encoded encryption. 相似文献
