光场的线宽对无粒子数反转光放大增益的影响   总被引:2,自引:2,他引:0  
针对拉曼驱动场下的四能级理论模型,讨论了实现无吸收、高折射率的条件,并分析了探测场及相干激发场的线宽对介质的折射率及增益的影响。计算结果表明,改变相干激发场 场强,或改变相干场的频率与原子能级间的失谐均可获得介质的无吸收,高折射率。激发扬线宽破坏了原子的相干性,使使介质的增闪下降并改变了折射率的大小,探测场的线宽使介质的探测增益谱及折射率谱的分辨率下降。  相似文献

We propose a conditional phase-shifter between two weak laser beams in an alkali vapor. We begin by enhancing the refractive index of a weak, far-detuned probe beam while maintaining vanishing absorption. The enhancement is a result of interfering an absorptive and an amplifying Raman resonance in a four-level atomic system. Then, a conditional switching beam ac stark shifts the narrow Raman resonances, modifying the phase accumulation experienced by the probe beam. We find that the scheme works with acceptable fidelity at the tens of photons level, and that the energy requirement can be reduced further at the expense of noise.  相似文献

We report a proof-of-principle experiment where the refractive index of an atomic vapor is enhanced while maintaining vanishing absorption of the beam. The key idea is to drive alkali atoms in a vapor with appropriate control lasers and induce a gain resonance and an absorption resonance for a probe beam in a two-photon Raman configuration. The strength and the position of these two resonances can be manipulated by changing the parameters of the control lasers. By using the interference between these two resonances, we obtain an enhanced refractive index without an increase in the absorption.  相似文献

We propose a closed three-level V-type system with an incoherent pumping which achieves a high index of refraction without absorption via spontaneously generated coherence. The system has two near-degenerate excited levels. We derive full analytical formulas for the index of refraction and the gain (absorption) coefficient. We found that the proper choice of the incoherent pumping, the relative phase of the two coherent fields, the Rabi frequencies, the probe detuning and the angle between the two transitions leads to the enhancement of the refractive index without absorption.  相似文献

We propose and demonstrate a novel scheme for realizing large refractive index with vanishing absorption in a three-level quantum system consisting of the energy levels of Er3+-doped ZrF4–BaF2–LaF3–AlF3–NaF (ZBLAN) optical fiber. It is found that the refractive index of the probe field can be controlled via the coherent coupling field and incoherent pumping field. The switching from negative refractive index to positive refractive index and manipulation of the value of the index of refraction while maintaining vanishing absorption of the probe field can be achieved via tuning the detuning of the coherent coupling field. Our scheme may provide some new possibility for technological applications in fiber communication.  相似文献

A simple three-level system is proposed to produce high index of refraction with zero absorption in an Er^3+-doped yttrium aluminium garnet (YAG) crystal, which is achieved for a probe field between the excited state 4I13/2 and ground state 4I15/2 by adjusting a strong coherent driving field between the upper excited state 4I11/2 and 4I15/2. It is found that the changes of the frequency of the coherent driving field and the concentration of Er^3+ ions in the YAG crystal can maximize the index of refraction accompanied by vanishing absorption. This result could be useful for the dispersion compensation in fibre communication, laser particle acceleration, high precision magnetometry and so on.  相似文献

A four-level system is proposed to produce large index of refraction accompanied by vanishing absorption in the Er^{3+}-doped yttrium aluminium garnet (YAG) crystal. It is found that the high index of refraction with zero absorption can be provided by adjusting the incoherent pumping, the coherent field, as well as the concentration of Er^{3+} ions in the crystal. Furthermore, the value of the incoherent pump to achieve the high index of refraction with zero absorption is greatly changed with increasing the concentration of Er^{3+} ions in the crystal. This indicates that the effect of concentration on the high index of refraction with zero absorption cannot be neglected.  相似文献

This paper studies the electromagnetic response of a coherently driven dense atomic ensemble to a weak probe.It finds that negative refraction with little absorption may be achieved in the presence of local-field enhanced interaction and dynamically induced chirality.The complex refractive index governing the probe refraction and absorption depends critically on the atomic density,the steady population distribution,the coherence dephasings,and the frequency detunings,and is also sensitive to the phase of the driving field because the photonic transition paths form a close loop.Thus,it can periodically tune the refractive index at a fixed frequency from negative to positive values and vice versa just by modulating the driving phase.Moreover,the optimal negative refraction is found to be near the probe magnetic resonance,which then requires the electric fields of the probe and the drive being on two-photon resonance due to the dipole synchronisation.  相似文献

The control role of the relative phase between the probe and driving fields on the gain and dispersion in an open three-level ladder atomic system with incoherent pumping and spontaneously generated coherence is investigated. It is shown that by adjusting the value of the relative phase, the switching from lasing with inversion to lasing without inversion (LWI) can be realized; high index of the refraction with zero absorption can be achieved. It is also found that when the driving field is on resonance, the dispersion curve versus the probe detuning is very similar to the gain curve if the relative phase corresponding to the dispersion advances π/2 than that corresponding to the gain. LWI gain from the open system is obviously larger than that from corresponding closed system. When the incoherent pumping is absent, the open system can get LWI gain, moreover the gain is larger than that when the incoherent pumping presents for suitable value of the relative phase, but the corresponding closed system exhibits only absorption. In addition, manipulation effects of atomic exit and ratio of the injection rates on phase dependent gain are also analyzed.  相似文献

用抽运-探测技术测量光学响应材料非线性极化率的方法,研究了稀土材料非线性折射率的共振增强和超快响应的非线性动力学过程。测得钕玻璃的三阶非线性折射 率强度系数为10^-14cm^2/W,比其基质的非线性折射率强度系数提高了2个量级。用该方法研究了Nd:YVO4、Er:YAG等晶体的超快非线性响应过程。实验结果与理论分析表明,抽支-探测技术是测量非线性极化率的简单而又灵敏的方法。这一测量技术对研究与开发超高速光响应器件具有重要的实用价值。  相似文献

We show the possibility to periodically modulate the refractive index in a homogeneous resonant atomic medium in space or/and time while simultaneously keeping vanishing absorption or gain. Such modulation is based on periodic resonant enhancement of the refractive index, controlled by an external optical field, and opens the way to produce coherently controllable photonic structures. We suggest the possible implementation of the proposed scheme in rare-earth doped crystals with excited state absorption.  相似文献

The effect of spontaneously generated coherence on the probe response in an open ladder atomic system with equispaced levels is studied. The result shows that by adjusting the strength of spontaneously generated coherence (SGC), electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) and high dispersion (index of refraction) with zero absorption can be realized, a much larger gain without inversion (GWI) than that without SGC can be obtained. Moreover, in the open system and for some strength of SGC, GWI without the incoherent pumping is much larger than that with the incoherent pumping; however, in the corresponding closed system, when the incoherent pumping is absent, we cannot obtain any gain (with or without inversion) for any strength of SGC. In addition, the manipulation role of the atomic exit and injection rates on SGC-dependent absorption property is analyzed for the case when the incoherence pumping does not exist.  相似文献

We studied effects of the relative phase between the probe and driving fields on the absorption and dispersion properties in an open three-level ladder system with spontaneously generated coherence but without incoherent pumping. It is shown that by the phase controlling, switching from absorption to lasing without inversion (LWI) and enhancing remarkablely LWI gain can be realized; large index of refraction with zero absorption and the electromagnetically induced transparency can be obtained. We also find that varying the atomic injection and exit rates has a considerable influence on the phase dependent-absorption property of the probe field, existent of the atomic injection and exit rates gives the necessary condition of the realization of LWI, getting LWI is impossible in the corresponding closed system without incoherent pumping.  相似文献

The linear absorption and the Kerr nonlinearity of multiple quantum dots molecules controlled by the tunneling rather than the laser fields are investigated. The tunneling between the dots can induce multiple transparency windows. By varying the energy splitting of the excited states and the tunneling intensity, the width of the tunneling induced transparency windows can be narrowed. Within the narrowed transparency windows, the steep dispersion profile of the probe field makes it possible to enhance the Kerr nonlinearity. Therefore more than one probe fields with different frequencies can acquire giant Kerr accompanied by vanishing absorption simultaneously.  相似文献

This paper attempts a probe into negative refraction without absorption by means of an incoherent pump field and a strong coherent field coupling the dense four-level atomic system. With the application of the incoherent pump field to manipulate the populations in atomic levels and the variable strong coherent field to create quantum coherence, the constraint condition of two equal transition frequencies responding to the probe field in the atomic system isn't required. And these lead to the propagation transparency and strong magnetic response of the probe field, left-handedness with vanishing absorption in the atomic system. 介绍了一种腔内光强增强型凹面光栅选线法的热带连续波CO2激光器的设计及实验参数。在腔内不加CO2热吸收池,采用总气压为1 074.9 Pa、体积分数为13%CO2,15%N2和72%He的混合气体,放电电流为25 mA的情况下,除了在常规带0001-[1000,0200]Ⅰ,Ⅱ内观察到从R(56)到P(60)的100多条谱线以外,还得到11μm附近的其它谱线18条,其中0111-0310谱带9条,0111-1110谱带9条。实验发现,当激光器中氦气的比例升高时,激光的输出功率随之下降。每条谱线的腔内单程功率都超过35 W,足够满足大多数腔内光化学研究方面的需要。  相似文献

We give a nonperturbative method for calculating the complex index of refraction for each of several optical fields interacting with a multilevel system, and illustrate the method by calculating the gain and absorption on an optically pumped, nearly resonant Raman transition as functions of the laser frequencies and fields, including the effects of dephasing and incoherent pumping of populations.  相似文献

The dispersive-absorptive optical properties of a weak probe field are investigated based on quantum coherence and interference in a Landau-quantized graphene structure. It is found that an enhanced refractive index with vanishing absorption can be obtained in this structure through proper adjusting the controlling parameters of the system. The switching between superluminal and subluminal light propagation is also discussed. Our scheme can be employed in real experiments to develop new types of nanoelectronic devices for realizing all-optical switching process and can have practical application in dispersion compensation and solid-state quantum communication.  相似文献
