Two bis(β‐ketoamino)copper [ArNC(CH3)CHC(CH3)O]2Cu ( 1 , Ar = 2,6‐dimethylphenyl; 2 , Ar = 2,6‐diisopropylphenyl) complexes were synthesized and characterized. Homo‐ and copolymerizations of methyl acrylate (MA) and 1‐hexene with bis(β‐ketoamino)copper(II) complexes activated with methylaluminoxane (MAO) were investigated in detail. MA was polymerized in high conversion (>72%) to produce the syndio‐rich atactic poly(methyl acrylate), but 1‐hexene was not polymerized with copper complexes/MAO. Copolymerizations of MA and 1‐hexene with 1 , 2 /MAO produced acrylate‐enriched copolymers (MA > 80%) with isolated hexenes in the backbone. The calculation of reactivity ratios showed that r(MA) is 8.47 and r(hexene) is near to 0 determined by a Fineman‐Ross method. The polymerization mechanism was discussed, and an insertion‐triggered radical mechanism was also proposed. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 48: 1113–1121, 2010  相似文献

Three new three‐dimensional geometry bulky α‐diimine ligands ( L ) containing electron‐donating and electron‐withdrawing groups, 9,10‐dihydro‐9,10‐ethanoanthracene‐11,12‐di(Ar)imine (Ar = p‐PhCH3, L1 ; Ar=p‐PhCl, L2 ; Ar=p‐PhCF3, L3 .), and their corresponding single Ni(II) catalysts, NiL2Br2 ( Ni(L1)2Br2 , Ni(L2)2Br2 , and Ni(L3)2Br2 , were synthesized and the molecular structure were determined by X‐ray crystallography. All NiL2Br2 catalysts were tested for norbornene polymerization and copolymerization of norbornene with 1‐alkene after activation with B(C6F5)3. The results that the polymerization catalytic activities for norbornene up to 105 gpolymer/molNi·h even at 140 °C, shown that NiL2Br2 catalysts have high thermal stability. Meanwhile, catalysts with electron‐withdrawing groups could achieve higher reactivity. The obtained poly(NB‐co‐1‐alkene)s were confirmed to be vinyl‐addition copolymers and noncrystalline. All copolymers exhibited high 1‐alkenes insertion ratio, good thermal stability (Td > 375 °C), high molecular weight (up to 105 g/mol), good solubility in common organic solvents and could be processed into films with good transparency in the visible region. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Copolymerizations of ethylene with α‐olefins (i.e., 1‐hexene, 1‐octene, allylbenzene, and 4‐phenyl‐1‐butene) using the bis(β‐enaminoketonato) titanium complexes [(Ph)NC(R2)CHC(R1)O]2TiCl2 ( 1a : R1 = CF3, R2 = CH3; 1b : R1 = Ph, R2 = CF3; and 1c : R1 = t‐Bu, R2 = CF3), activated with modified methylaluminoxane as a cocatalyst, have been investigated. The catalyst activity, comonomer incorporation, and molecular weight, and molecular weight distribution of the polymers produced can be controlled over a wide range by the variation of the catalyst structure, α‐olefin, and reaction parameters such as the comonomer feed concentration. The substituents R1 and R2 of the ligands affect considerably both the catalyst activity and comonomer incorporation. Precatalyst 1a exhibits high catalytic activity and produces high‐molecular‐weight copolymers with high α‐olefin insertion. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This investigation reports the atom transfer radical copolymerization (ATRcP) of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and 2‐ethylhexyl acrylate (EHA). Poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) has easily transformable pendant oxirane group and poly(2‐ethylhexyl acrylate) (PEHA) has very low Tg. They are the important components of coating and adhesive materials. Copolymerization of GMA and EHA was carried out in bulk and in toluene at 70 °C at different molar feed ratios using CuCl as catalyst in combination with 2,2′‐bypyridine (bpy) as well as N,N,N′,N″,N″‐pentamethyl diethylenetriamine (PMDETA) as ligand. The molecular weight (Mn) and the polydispersity index (PDI) of the polymers were determined by GPC analysis. The molar composition of the copolymers was determined by 1H NMR analysis. The reactivity ratios of GMA (r1) and EHA (r2) were determined using Finemann‐Ross and Kelen‐Tudos linearization methods and those had been compared with the literature values for conventional free radical copolymerization. The thermal properties of the copolymers were studied by DSC and TGA analysis. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 47: 6526–6533, 2009  相似文献

A non‐olefinic monomer, methyl 1‐bicyclobutanecarboxylate (MBC), was successfully polymerized by the controlled/“living” atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) technique, resulting in a well‐defined homopolymer, PMBC, with only cyclobutane ring units in the polymer chain. An AB block copolymer poly(methyl 1‐bicyclobutanecarboxylate)‐b‐polystyrene (PMBC‐b‐PS), having an all‐ring unit segment, was also synthesized with narrow polydispersity and designed number‐average molecular weight in addition to precise end groups. The 1H NMR spectra, glass‐transition temperature, and thermal stability of PMBC, PMBC‐b‐PS, and PS‐b‐PMBC were investigated. The experimental results showed that the cyclobutane rings in the two block polymers improved their thermal stability. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. New materials with potential applications for adhesives and coatings, based on copolymers containing zwitterionic pendent groups, were investigated. n‐Butyl acrylate and 2‐ethoxyethyl acrylate were copolymerized with a series of five zwitterionic sulfobetaine monomers. The structure of the monomers was varied in terms of the zwitterion intercharge spacing and the bulkiness of the alkyl substituents at the quaternary ammonium unit. Four of the five zwitterionic sulfobetaine methacrylate (SBM) monomers used in the study were synthesized. An evaluation of the reactivity ratios for the copolymer systems was performed with programs based on statistically sound techniques such as the error‐in‐variables model and the nonlinear‐least‐squares method. Reactivity ratio estimates for all 10 comonomer pairs were obtained, and they showed clear variations in reactivity with the structure of the SBM. In general, the more hydrophobic the SBM was, the lower its reactivity was with respect to the acrylate monomers. © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Commercial zeolite acid mordenite was thermally treated for use as a support for bis(n‐butyl‐cyclopentadienyl)zirconium dichloride [(n‐BuCp)2ZrCl2] for the further evaluation of ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization. The polymerization time, temperature, and solvent, as well as the addition of tri(isobutyl)aluminum in the hexane medium, were evaluated. The catalytic activity and 1‐hexene content in the copolymer synthesized with the supported system were very near those obtained with the homogeneous precursor. A comonomer effect was observed for both systems. The polymerization rate profiles were obtained for ethylene polymerization, and the activation energy and monomer reactivity were calculated. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of novel vanadium(III) complexes bearing bidentate phenoxy‐phosphine oxide [O,P=O] ligands, (2‐R1‐4‐R2‐6‐Ph2P=O‐C6H2O)VCl2(THF)2 ( 2a : R1 = R2 = H; 2b : R1 = F, R2 = H; 2c : R1 = tBu, R2 = H; 2d : R1 = Ph, R2 = H; 2e : R1 = R2 = Me; 2f : R1 = R2 = tBu; 2g : R1 = R2 = CMe2Ph) have been synthesized by adding 1 equiv of the ligand to VCl3(THF)3 dropwise in the presence of excess triethylamine. Under the same conditions, the adding of VCl3(THF)3 to 2.0 equiv of the ligand afforded vanadium(III) complexes bearing two [O,P=O] ligands ( 3c , 3f ). All the complexes were characterized by FTIR and mass spectra as well as elemental analysis. Structures of complexes 2c and 3c were further confirmed by X‐ray crystallographic analysis. On activation with Et2AlCl and ethyl trichloroacetate, these complexes displayed high catalytic activities for ethylene polymerization (up to 26.4 kg PE/mmolV·h·bar) even at high reaction temperature (70 °C) indicative of high thermal stability, and produced high molecular weight polymers with unimodal molecular weight distributions. Additionally, the complexes with optimized structure exhibited high catalytic activities for ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization. Catalytic activity, comonomer incorporation, and polymer molecular weight can be controlled in a wide range via the variation of catalyst structure and the reaction parameters such as Al/V molar ratio, comonomer feed concentration, and reaction temperature. The monomer reactivity ratios rE and rH were determined according to 13C NMR spectra, which indicated these complexes preferred ethylene to 1‐hexene in the copolymerization. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerizations with disiloxane‐bridged metallocenes, rac‐ and meso‐1,1,3,3‐tetramethyldisiloxanediyl‐bis(1‐indenyl)zirconium dichloride (rac‐ 1 , meso‐ 1 ) activated by modified methylaluminoxane were performed to investigate the influence of conformational dynamics on comonomer selectivity. Although 1H NOESY (nuclear Overhauser and exchange spectroscopy) analysis indicated that the most stable conformation for the meso isomer in solution was that in which both indenes project over the metal coordination site, this isomer showed higher 1‐hexene selectivity in copolymerization (re = 140 ± 30, rh = 0.024 ± 0.004) than the rac isomer with only one indene over the coordination site (re = 240 ± 20, rh = 0.005 ± 0.001). The meso isomer showed high 1‐hexene selectivity, a high product of reactivity ratios (rerh = 3.3 ± 0.5) and produced copolymers that could be separated into fractions with different ethylene content suggesting that the active species exhibited multisite behavior and populated conformations with different comonomer selectivities during the copolymerization. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ethylene–propylene copolymerization, using [(Ph)NC(R2)CHC(R1)O]2TiCl2 (R1 = CF3, Ph, or t‐Bu; R2 = CH3 or CF3) titanium complexes activated with modified methylaluminoxane as a cocatalyst, was investigated. High‐molecular‐weight ethylene–propylene copolymers with relatively narrow molecular weight distributions and a broad range of chemical compositions were obtained. Substituents R1 and R2 influenced the copolymerization behavior, including the copolymerization activity, methylene sequence distribution, molecular weight, and polydispersity. With small steric hindrance at R1 and R2, one complex (R1 = CF3; R2 = CH3) displayed high catalytic activity and produced copolymers with high propylene incorporation but low molecular weight. The microstructures of the copolymers were analyzed with 13C NMR to determine the methylene sequence distribution and number‐average sequence lengths of uninterrupted methylene carbons. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The polymerization of 1‐hexene under high pressures (100–750 MPa) was investigated with nickel–α‐diimine complex/methylaluminoxane and palladium–α‐diimine complex/methylaluminoxane as catalyst systems. The catalytic activity of both the nickel and palladium complexes monotonously increased as pressure rose and became two to four times higher than that observed at atmospheric pressure. Palladium catalysts gave poly(1‐hexene)s with higher molecular weights under high pressure, whereas nickel‐catalyzed high‐pressure polymerizations gave polymers with higher molecular weights only at rather low monomer concentrations. The living‐like character in the palladium‐catalyzed polymerizations was somewhat enhanced under higher pressures, whereas the nickel‐catalyzed polymerizations under high pressures were not living. More branches were found in the polymers produced by nickel catalysts at higher pressures. The chain‐transfer reaction seemed to be accelerated by the high pressure in the nickel‐catalyzed reactions, although this was not apparent in the palladium‐catalyzed reactions. Dimers formed and were accompanied by high molecular weight polymers when nickel catalysts were used under high pressures and at high monomer concentrations. The possibility that very congested five‐coordinated species act as key intermediates for the dimerization is discussed. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An efficient introduction of vinyl group into poly (ethylene‐co‐styrene) or poly(ethylene‐co?1‐hexene) has been achieved by the incorporation of 3,3′‐divinylbiphenyl (DVBP) in terpolymerization of ethylene, styrene, or 1‐hexene with DVBP using aryloxo‐modified half‐titanocenes, Cp′TiCl2(O?2,6‐iPr2C6H3) [Cp′ = Cp*, tBuC5H4, 1,2,4‐Me3C5H2], in the presence of MAO cocatalyst, affording high‐molecular‐weight polymers with unimodal distributions. Efficient comonomer incorporations have been achieved by these catalysts, and the content of each comonomer could be varied by its initial concentration charged. The postpolymerization of styrene was initiated from the vinyl group remained in the side chain by treatment with n‐BuLi. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Electron‐deficient 2‐trifluoromethylacrylates (TFMA) undergo radical copolymerization with electron‐rich norbornene derivatives, vinyl ethers, and styrene derivatives, which can be described by the penultimate model much better than by the commonly employed terminal model. In an attempt to directly observe the effect of the CF3 group in the penultimate unit on the radical reactivity, we employed the Giese's mercury method. 4,4,4‐Trifluorobutyl and n‐butyl radicals produced from respective alkylmercuric chlorides were competitively reacted with t‐butyl 2‐trifluoromethylacrylate (TBTFMA) and t‐butyl methacrylate (TBMA) and the products analyzed with gas chromatography. While TBTFMA has been found to be about 24times more reactive than TBMA toward the n‐butyl radical, the former is about 12 times more reactive than the latter toward the 4,4,4‐trifluorobutyl radical. Thus, the reactivity of the propagating radical toward TBTFMA in comparison with TBMA is suppressed by a factor of two when the penultimate unit has the CF3 group. We observed a sextet electron spin resonance of the TFMA propagating radical with a coupling constant of ca. 25 gauss between the β‐proton and β‐fluorine. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An investigation of the polymer particle growth characteristics and polymer molecular weight and composition distributions in ethylene homopolymerization and ethylene/1‐hexene copolymerization has been carried out with a catalyst comprising a zirconocene and methylaluminoxane immobilized on a silica support. The presence of 1‐hexene leads to higher productivity and easier fragmentation of the support during particle growth. Crystallization analysis fractionation and gel permeation chromatography analysis of ethylene/1‐hexene copolymers prepared at different polymerization times reveals a broadening of the chemical composition distribution with increasing polymerization time as a result of the gradual formation of a relatively high‐molecular‐weight, ethylene‐rich fraction. The results are indicative of significant monomer diffusion effects in both homopolymerization and copolymerization. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Four nonconjugated diene comonomers 1,9‐decadiene (19DD), 6‐ethylundeca‐1,10‐diene (EUD), 1,5‐cyclooctadiene (COD) and cinene (1‐methyl‐4‐(prop‐1‐en‐2‐yl) cyclohex‐1‐ene) (CE) were used in copolymerization with ethylene catalyzed by α‐diimine Ni(II) complex ([2,6‐(iPr)2C6H3N = C(CH3)?(CH3)C = N2,6‐(iPr)2C6H3)]NiBr2 ( 1 )) activated by Et2AlCl. These dienes showed quite distinct copolymerization behaviors. Ethylene‐19DD copolymerization formed highly branched polyethylene with cyclic units and pendent vinyls, and a large part of crosslinked polymer when the 19DD concentration was relatively high. Using EUD as comonomer lead to evidently reduced gel formation and increased content of pendent vinyl. COD can be incorporated in the copolymer with evidently lower catalyst efficiency than the ethylene homopolymerization, and CE behaves like an inert compound as it was not incorporated in the copolymer. Homopolymerization of 19DD with the same catalyst produced polymer containing both cyclic units and pendent vinyls. The cyclic units were formed by cyclopolymerization of the inserted 19DD after several steps of chain walking. Crosslinking through the pendent vinyl took place when the initial 19DD concentration was relatively high, forming large amount of gel in the product. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. The RAFT (co)polymerization kinetics of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and n‐butyl acrylate (BA) mediated by 2‐cyanoprop‐2‐yl dithiobenzoate was studied with various RAFT concentrations and monomer compositions. The homopolymerization of MMA gave the highest rate. Increasing the BA fraction fBA dramatically decreased the copolymerization rate. The rate reached the lowest point at fMMA ~ 0.2. This observation is in sharp contrast to the conventional RAFT‐free copolymerization, where BA homopolymerization gave the highest rate and the copolymerization rate decreased monotonously with increasing fMMA. This peculiar phenomenon can be explained by the RAFT retardation effect. The RAFT copolymerization rate can be described by 〈Rp〉/〈Rp0 = (1 + 2(〈kc〉/〈kt〉)〈K〉)[RAFT]0)?0.5, where 〈Rp0 is the RAFT‐free copolymerization rate and 〈K〉 is the apparent addition–fragmentation equilibrium coefficient. A theoretical expression of 〈K〉 based on a terminal model of addition and fragmentation reactions was derived and successfully applied to predict the RAFT copolymerization kinetics with the rate parameters obtained from the homopolymerization systems. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of novel vanadium(III) complexes bearing heteroatom‐containing group‐substituted salicylaldiminato ligands [RN?CH(ArO)]VCl2(THF)2 (Ar = C6H4, R = C3H2NS, 2a ; C7H4NS, 2c ; C7H5N2, 2d ; Ar = C6H2tBu2 (2,4), R = C3H2NS, 2b ) have been synthesized and characterized. Structure of complex 2c was further confirmed by X‐ray crystallographic analysis. The complexes were investigated as the catalysts for ethylene polymerization in the presence of Et2AlCl. Complexes 2a–d exhibited high catalytic activities (up to 22.8 kg polyethylene/mmolV h bar), and affording polymer with unimodal molecular weight distributions at 25–70 °C in the first 5‐min polymerization, whereas produced bimodal molecular weight distribution polymers at 70 °C when polymerization time prolonged to 30 min. The catalyst structure plays an important role in controlling the molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of the resultant polymers produced in 30 min polymerization. In addition, ethylene/hexene copolymerizations with catalysts 2a–d were also explored in the presence of Et2AlCl, which leads to the high molecular weight and unimodal distributions copolymers with high comonomer incorporation. Catalytic activity, comonomer incorporation, and polymer molecular weight can be controlled over a wide range by the variation of catalyst structure and the reaction parameters, such as comonomer feed concentration, polymerization time, and polymerization reaction temperature. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The catalyst DADNi(NCS)2 (DAD = (ArN?C(Me)? C(Me)?ArN); Ar = 2,6‐C6H3), activated by methylaluminoxane, was tested in ethylene polymerization at temperatures above 25 °C and variable Al/Ni ratio. The system was shown to be active even at 80 °C and when supported on silica. However, catalyst activity decreased. The catalyst system was also tested in ethylene and 10‐undecen‐1‐ol copolymerization at different ethylene pressures. The best activities were obtained at low polar monomer concentration (0.017 mol/L), using triisopropylaluminum (Al‐i‐Pr3) to protect the polar monomer. The incorporation of the comonomer increased with the increase of polar monomer concentration. According to 13C NMR analyses, all the resulting polyethylenes were highly branched and the polar monomer incorporation decreased as ethylene pressure increased. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
