If neutrinos have non-vanishing mass and non-vanishing magnetic moments, then electron neutrinos emitted in nuclear reactions in the solar interior may undergo flavour oscillations, spin precession or resonant spin-flavour precession. Assuming equal values for the magnetic moments of all neutrino flavours and using the data from Homestake and SuperKamiokande we obtain an upper limit on the neutrino magnetic moment and find μνe ≤ (2.2 − 2.3) × 10−10μB, within four standard solar models. We also point out that this limit may be further reduced if the detector threshold energy for the νee scattering is decreased.  相似文献

The neutrino experiment KARMEN is situated at the beam stop neutrino source ISIS which provides νμ's, νe's and from the π+−μ+-decay at rest. The oscillation channels νμ → νe and are investigated with a 56 t liquid scintillation calorimeter. No evidence for oscillations could be found with KARMEN, resulting in 90% CL exclusion limits of sin2(2Θ) < 8.5 · 10−3 ( ) and sin2(2Θ) < 4.0 · 10−2μ → νe) for Δm2 > 100 eV2. In 1996, the experiment has been upgraded by an additional veto counting system with a total coverage of 300 m2. The new system allows the identification of cosmic muons in the vicinity of the detector. Vetoing these muons suppresses energetic neutrons from deep inelastic scattering of muons as well as from μ-capture by a factor of 40. Up to 1996, these neutrons represented the main background for oscillation search. The experimental sensitivity for will be significantly enhanced towards sin2(2Θ) 1.0 · 10−3 after a further measuring period of 2–3 years.  相似文献

This letter reports the results of the measurement of single photon production in the reaction e+e → γ+ invisible particles at centre-of-mass energies and 136 GeV and an integrated luminosity of 5.83 pb−1, collected with the DELPHI detector at LEP. The signal is compatible with the prediction of the Standard Model for the process , and the number of neutrino families has been determined to be Nν = 3.1 ± 0.6. Limits have been derived on anomalous neutral gauge boson couplings and on compositeness in the framework of a specific model.  相似文献

The neutrino experiment sets the most stringent exclusion limits for μe oscillations. Analyzing the data set recorded from Feb.1997 up to March 2000 with the upgraded experimental configuration, the search of e appearance via the p( e, e+)n reaction yields no hints for neutrino oscillations. Applying a likelihood method to the measured event sample of 11 events (background expectation 12.3 events), we deduce an upper limit of sin2 (2Θ) < 1.3 · 10−3 for large Δm2 > 100 eV2 and Δm2 < 0.049 eV2 for sin2 (2Θ)=1.  相似文献

The process e+e→W+Wγ is analysed using the data collected with the L3 detector at LEP at a centre-of-mass energy of 188.6 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 176.8 pb−1. Based on a sample of 42 selected W+W candidates containing an isolated hard photon, the W+Wγ cross section, defined within phase-space cuts, is measured to be: σWWγ=290±80±16 fb, consistent with the Standard Model expectation. Including the process , limits are derived on anomalous contributions to the Standard Model quartic vertices W+Wγγ and W+WZγ at 95% CL: −0.043 GeV−2<a02<0.043 GeV−2, −0.08 GeV−2<ac2<0.13 GeV−2, −0.41 GeV−2<an2<0.37 GeV−2.  相似文献

New data for the reaction e+e→(9.46) have been obtained using the DASP detector at the DORIS storage ring. The electronic width Γee is (1.5±0.4) keV. The branching ratio for the decay into muon pairs is (2.5 ± 2.1)%. Energy spectra for inclusive production of hadrons are given.  相似文献

In a data sample of four million hadronic Z decays collected with the ALEPH detector at LEP, four Λb baryon candidates are exclusively reconstructed in the Λb → Λc+π channel, with the Λc+ decaying into pKπ+, , or Λπ+π+π. The probability of the observed signal to be due to a background fluctuation is estimated to be 4.2 × 10−4. The mass of the Λb is measured to be 5614±21 (stat.) ± 4 (syst.) MeV/c2.  相似文献

We report on the observation of 1 3PJb) production in the reaction ′→γχb→γγ→γγ(e+e or μ+μ). The data were recorded with the nonmagnetic CUSB detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, CESR. We observe 124 γγ events with either an electron or muon pair in the final state. In the γγ correlation plot about 40% of the events cluster around (120, 430) MeV.  相似文献

Our collaboration has installed a long baseline neutrino oscillation experiment at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station in Arizona. 12 tons of Gd loaded liquid scintillator, in a segmented detector, are used to search for oscillations at 740 m distance to three reactors. The anti-neutrino capture on the proton serves as detection reaction. The experiment is expected to reach a sensitivity of Δm2 > 1.3 · 10−3 eV2 and sin22Θ > 0.1. Our range of sensitivity is tuned to test the νμ ↔ νe solution of the atmospheric neutrino anomaly.  相似文献

To design a new radon gas dosemeter, the knowledge of the SSNTD α counting efficiency is essential. It depends primarily on the energy and incidence angle into the detector, then on the etching conditions and finally on the track counting procedure. Therefore the elicited efficiency function represents all these factors. The detectors were exposed to α particles at different angles of incidence and energies, by using a 244Cm source; two alternative NaOH solution etching conditions were tested, 6.25 N 70°C at 6 and 12 h, respectively. The counting was performed with a light microscope, 267×, and with an automatic track analysis procedure. The critical incidence angle dependance on energy, in our standard condition (6 h), resulted θC(E)=380.0e(−0.286•(E−0.050))(1−e(−0.186•(E−0.050))), and it was used to design our new radon gas holder.  相似文献

The mechanism of baryon-anti-baryon pair production in e+e annihilation into hadrons has been studied using the TOPAZ detector at the TRISTAN e+e collider at an average center-of-mass energy of 58 GeV. The distributions of various correlations were compared with two prominent models: the cluster-fragmentation model and the string-fragmentation model. We rejected the cluster-fragmentation model at the 90% C.L. Furthermore, in the context of the string-fragmentation model, we favor the “popcorn” model, rejecting the “diquark” model, where a diquark is considered to be a fundamental entity, at the 95% C.L.  相似文献

A search for νμ → νe oscillations has been conducted at the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility (LAMPF) using νμ from π+ decay in flight. An excess in the number of beam-related events from the νe Ce X inclusive reaction is observed. The excess is too large to be explained by normal νe contamination in the beam at a confidence level greater than 99%. If interpreted as an oscillation signal, the observed oscillation probability of (2.6 ± 1.3 ± 0.5) × 10−3 is consistent with the previously reported oscillation evidence from LSND.  相似文献

We built a low background detector based on a 1 m3 time projection chamber surrounded by an active anti-Compton shielding. The detector has been installed near a nuclear reactor in Bugey for the experimental study of the scattering. A low threshold, around 500 keV, can be set on the electron recoil energy, giving the experiment a sensitivity to the magnetic moment down to 3·10−11 Bohr magnetons.  相似文献

The infrared spectrum of yttrium monoiodide has been excited in an electrodeless microwave discharge and explored between 2500 and 12 000cm−1 with a high-resolution Fourier transform spectrometer. A unique system is observed (ν00 = 9905.520 cm−1), which we attribute to a 1Π → 1Σ transition and an extensive analysis is made. Rovibrational constants are obtained for both states mainly from a simultaneous multiband fitting. This procedure is applied to the whole set of 2231 observed line wavenumbers in the 1-0, 0-0, and 0–1 bands, yielding a final weighted standard deviation of 0.0038 cm−1. Furthermore, a partial analysis of the 2-0 and 3-1 bands is performed. The following equilibrium constants are derived (cm−1): ω′e=192.210 ω′exe=0.463Be=0.0399133 α′e=0.0001150ω″e=215.815 ω″exe=0.514Be=0.0422163 α″e=0.0001125 High-order constants Dv and Hv are also calculated for the various vibrational levels (v′ = 0, 1, 2, 3; v″ = 0, 1).  相似文献

During 1997 the ALEPH experiment at LEP gathered 57 pb−1 of data at centre-of-mass energies near 183 GeV. These data are used to look for possible signals from the production of the Standard Model Higgs boson in the reaction e+e→HZ. No evidence of a signal is found in the data; seven events are selected, in agreement with the expectation of 7.2 events from background processes. This observation results in an improved lower limit on the mass of the Higgs boson: mH>87.9 GeV/c2 at 95% confidence level.  相似文献

Single and multi-photon events with missing energy are analysed using data collected with the L3 detector at LEP at a centre-of-mass energy of 189 GeV, for a total of 176 pb of integrated luminosity. The cross section of the process e+e → γ(γ) is measured and the number of light neutrino flavours is determined to be Nν=3.011±0.077 including lower energy data. Upper limits on cross sections of supersymmetric processes are set and interpretations in supersymmetric models provide improved limits on the masses of the lightest neutralino and the gravitino. Graviton-photon production in low scale gravity models with extra dimensions is searched for and limits on the energy scale of the model are set exceeding 1 TeV for two extra dimensions.  相似文献

Heterodyne spectra of carbonyl sulfide have been obtained with saturation in a CO2 waveguide laser and without saturation with a diode laser. The absolute uncertainties of the measured positions lie between 10−4 and 7 × 10−6 cm−1. The CW submillimeter laser line of OCS at 378 μm has been assigned to the J = 65 → 64 transition in the 0220e state of 16O12C32S, with a pumping through the R(64) line of 0220e ← 0000, a Δ-Σ transition weakly allowed by the l-type resonance.  相似文献

The XMASS project utilizes ultrapure liquid xenon and aims to detect pp and 7Be solar neutrinos by means of ν e e scattering. It requires low background and a low threshold, which will also enable us to search for dark matter in the Galactic halo. By using a prototype detector, we have confirmed its feasibility to realize low background and low threshold. The A2Π–X2Σ+ transition of 174Yb35Cl and 172Yb35Cl has been rotationally analyzed for the first time. Doppler-limited laser excitation spectroscopy with selective detection of fluorescence was used to obtain spectra of the 0–0 and 1–0 bands with a measurement accuracy of approximately 0.0035 cm−1. Resolved fluorescence was used to record the 0–1, 0–2, and 0–3 bands and to unequivocally assign the rotational numbering, N, to the laser excitation spectra. In total, over 1300 line positions have been measured and assigned for each of the two isotopomers and employed in least-squares fits of molecular parameters. The principal results for the A2Π state are Ae = 1491.494(2) cm−1 and Re = 2.4433(1) Å, and for the X2Σ+ state, Re = 2.4883(2) Å and γe = 4.59(2) × 10−3 cm−1. The interaction between the X2Σ+ and A2Π states has been investigated and is shown to be the main contributor to the spin–rotation splitting in the ground state.  相似文献
