Dielectric relaxation spectroscopy of heteronuclear cobalt(II)-copper(II) complex of 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone

A bright green CoCu(PMP)(OH)2(H2O)2 complex was synthesized. Its structure was elucidated and characterized by different spectroscopic techniques. Both cobalt and copper atoms attain tetrahedral geometry. The complex was investigated by the dielectric relaxation spectroscopy. The dielectric parameters are discussed in terms of temperature and frequency changes. The conductivity of the complex decreased as the temperature increased in the temperature range 30-100 degrees C, while above this temperature range stepwise increase in the conductivity was observed.     

Synthesis and Crystal Structure of Dichlorobis(1-methylimidazoline-2(3H)-thione-S) Cobalt(II)

The reaction of anhydrous cobalt(II) dichloride with 1-methylimidazoline-2(3H)thione in dichloromethane solution gave the title complex, [Co(C4H6N2S)2Cl2]. X-ray single-crystal analysis revealed that the complex crystallizes in a monoclinic system, space group P21/c, a = 13.9707(10), b = 10.0435(7), c = 10.3910(6) (A), β = 91.181(3)o, V = 1457.70(17) (A)3, Z = 4, C8H12Cl2N4S2Co, Mr = 358.17, Dc = 1.632 g/cm3, μ = 1.813 mm-1, F(000) = 724, the final R = 0.0710 and wR = 0.1224 for 1549 observed reflections with I > 2((I). The Co atom is coordinated by two S atoms from two 1-methylimidazoline-2(3H)-thione ligands and two chloride ions in a slightly distorted tetrahedral geometry. The intramolecular classical hydrogen-bonding interactions involving chloride ions and N-H groups of the heterocyclic thione ligands are observed. The offset π-π stacking interactions between the imidazole rings of adjacent molecules with a face-to-face distance of 3.604 (A) are found in the packing diagram.     

Extraction of cobalt(II) and nickel(II) with mixtures of 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-pyrazol-5-one (HPMBP) and tri-n-octylamine (TOA)

The extraction of Co(II) with mixtures of 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-pyrazol-5-one ((H)PMBP) and tri-n-octylamine (TOA) is investigated in order to explore the influence of diluents and inorganic anions with synergistic acidic extractant + liquid anion exchanger systems. Although it is proved that the same species [HTOA]⁺ [Co(PMBP)₃]^? is extracted from various inorganic media, with toluene as the diluent, the presence of ClO₄^? SO₄^2? or Cl^? anion modifies the distribution of the anions which are associated to (HTOA)⁺ in the organic phase, leading to different synergistic equilibria; with Cl^? or SO₄^2?: $\text{CO(PMBP)}{}_2$ + $\text{(HTOA}{}^{\mathrm{+}}$,PMBP^?) ?$\text{(HTOA}{}^{\mathrm{+}}$,Co(PMBP)₃^? (log K = 6.10) and with ClO₄^? : $\text{Co(PMBP)}{}_2$ + $\text{HPMBP}$ + $\text{(HTOA}{}^{\mathrm{+}}$,ClO₄^? ? $\text{(HTOA}{}^{\mathrm{+}}$,Co(PMBP)₃^? + H⁺ + ClO₄^? (log K = 2.34) The same synergistic equilibrium is observed for the extraction of Ni(II) from ClO₄^? medium, with a comparable value of the constant (log K = 2.45). The synergistic effect is cancelled in n-octanol.     

New copper(II), nickel(II), and cobalt(II) chelates derived from 2-methyl-3-{[3-methyl-5-oxo-1-phenylpyrazol-4- ylidene)methyl]amino}-quinazolin-4-one

Ligand system derived from pyrazolone-5 and N-aminoquinazolinone was prepared, its structure was studied. Metal chelates ML₂ were prepared by reaction of the obtained ligand with copper(II), nickel(II), and cobalt(II) acetates. The complexes were studied by IR, electronic, and ESR spectroscopy, magnetochemistry, X-ray diffraction. Copper(II) complex was shown to have pseudo-tetrahedral structure, nickel(II) and cobalt(II) complexes are octahedral.     

Dichlorobis(1,2,5-triphenylphosphole)palladium(II) in carbonylation reactions

trans-Dichlorobis(1,2,5-triphenylphosphole)palladium(II) was synthesised and found to carbonylate organic halides at near atmospheric pressures and gave better yields than its triphenylphosphine analogue.
